Can you buy picnic baskets to put in community lots? I can't find one anywhere. I've searched build/buy catalogues, the buydebug menu for the object and a spawner (some places I've googled have said it's a spawner, but if it is I can't find one for it).

You must be able to get it because it's there in SV and I'm sure in a CC world I use. Or is it going to be like the elusive food truck that came with LN where you have to download them in order to place them?!

They are in the entertainment category, miscellaneous.

In my game they are under entertainment misc, but residential only.
Awesome allows you to keep items on a lot no matter what you change the lot zoning to.
Then ctrl+shift+click and select debug:serve to make it usable.

I hardly ever have my sims buy them, just have them mooch off the ones the NPCs have laid out.
I have a world with picnic baskets on the picnic table in their large park. Maybe it's under community buildings/miscellaneous? Now I have to open my game.

Where? Because unless I'm missing something mine doesn't have one:

Yep, and not community objects category. You want entertainment misc.

Thanks. Ok, well I've done that, can find it in residential (as I always could), and it stays when I switch the lot to community but whenever I ctrl+shift+click I don't get the option that you mentioned - any suggestions?

The picnic spawner is invisible, and available in BuyDebug if you download a mod to unlock it. I think Simsample has one, and a few others have passed them around, but I think you might need to PM for a link to it, as I haven't seen this mod published anywhere obvious.

Regular picnic baskets will not make NPCs have picnics.

I found one. Here we go: http://www.modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=3390100&postcount=3. Haven't tested it with townies but this is what I was looking for.

Kiwi_tea: thank you! As payment for your services I shall give you my first born.

Okay, I googled it. Didn't have time to actually open the game. I thought it was there.

@ kiwi tea, I am using a world that have them on the picnic table and the NPCs can use it, just not my active sim. When it's clicked no interactions are available. So I wait on the NPCs to serve it and let my sim get a plate.

Probably you don't have debug commands available. Aweconf also does that ;)

Yeah, sorry for the confusion there. The picnic table allows Sims to eat picnics, but only at the table. You don't need to add a picnic basket, it will just appear.

This mod is to unlock the picnics on the ground. ^_^

Well the plot thickens....
I have a lot in my Champs Les Sims that has picnic baskets on the bench/table thing highlighted in the picture above.
So the picnic table spawns them? I thought it was just a regular table andthe builder of the lot must have placed them there themselves.

Oh, and a picnic basket under residential? Why not just shove it under vehicles for all the sense that makes? Tsk tsk.

okay so if i understand this thread correctly, placing the picnic table on a community lot will spawn picnic baskets for townies to use, and without awesome mod your controlable sim cant click on it to serve it? or have i misunderstood it?

To clear this up once and for all:

If you go to buy mode> Tables> Misc (when on residential or community lot) there is a picnic table. That is just a regular table, sims can eat food they cooked at it, or just sit on the bench.

If you go to build mode> community buildings> Misc (as in el_flel's image) when on a community lot only, there is a picnic table, this is a COMMUNITY picnic table. Your sim can sit on the bench or use it as a regular table, but townies may autonomously start a picnic at this table, which your sim can join in. The only way your sim can initiate the picnic on this table is if you have a debug enabler mod.

If you download my mod to unlock the picnic blanket, as el_flel linked, then you can place picnic blankets to allow townie sims to have a picnic on community lots (as in Central Park, Sunset Valley). That picnic blanket remains invisible until a townie interacts with it. If you want your playable sim to have a picnic on a community lot, buy one of the picnic baskets from Entertainment> Misc and have it in their inventory.

That would have been handy to know a couple of weeks ago. I had a playable sim go to my community lot to drop off a picnic basket. Then I discovered that he gets it back every time I go to Edit Town, so I have to keep sending him back with the basket again.
