I just recently started a new neighborhood and created a sim that I plan on having as a Ghost Hunter, got him the job through the paper, but when the time to work comes I'm not getting any jobs. In my old hood, my Ghost Hunter there got a Spirit Invasion job the first night of work, the moment work time started. It's been four days, and no ghost hunting jobs, I can only get work performance by increasing my logic skill, I can change into the uniform, show off the Banshee Buster, and use Appease Ghost on graves.
Is this normal? I've removed any mods that I've added since the old hood, the only things I have remaining are Awesome Mod (which I had in my old hood and had no problems with the Ghost Hunter career then) and store content, which shouldn't interfere. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a conflict or do you sometimes just have to wait for jobs? Is there any cheat or mod that will let me trigger a Ghost Hunting job?

Is this a custom world or an EA one?
But I think you can shift-click on a rabbit hole with "testingcheatsenabled true" and trigger a job opportunity. I don't know whether this works on residential lots, too, when you play one of the AMB professions.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but the same is happening to me. Just started a new game in Barnacle Bay. Does anyone know of any fixes?

I don't know of permanent fixes, but this can be fixed by Shift clicking on lots (residential or rabbitholes) with testingcheats on, as babele 44 suggested.

If you are on the 1.38/1.39 patch level, these Angry Ghosts (the Ghosthunter Ghosts) simply aren't there in the house as they are supposed to be. They have been broken in some fashion. This is a known bug with the 1.38 patch.
If you actually see these ghosts in your game, under normal circumstances, you would click on the ghost and find various socializing options on them where you can send them back to the netherworld.

Oh, this is unfortunate. One of my sims recently rolled this career want, and I was going to let him go into that field. Crud. :o\

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I've got the same problem with patch 1.42 - are there any fixes? Or is it just broken...

EA majorly glitched the Profession on patch 1.38 and didn't fix it on patch 1.42. I wouldn't hold my breath about it being fixed anytime soon given that its EA.

I haven't heard of any mods which fix this, no.

So the patch 1.39 destroyed all the things and the latest patches fix stupid errors?? What is going on with The Sims...

Yes, I don't understand this. I've actually been hanging out on a thread on thesims3.com about this problem. Some guy emailed the CEO and got a call. CEO claimed he'd contacted development, and they were unaware of the bug, which is clearly not true. I'm still not holding my breath, but I'm seriously baffled as to EA's strategy here. Expansions are coming out faster than I can possibly handle them, and yet nobody at all seems to be tasked with bug fixes.
