That there game lags a LOT more? I feel like I ever since I installed Generations, it goes maybe 25% slower and lags so much more... Even though I removed a LOT of CC before installing this! Am I the only one who feels this way?

not only does mine have a lag, it also keeps crashing after playing over 15 minutes,

I haven't noticed too much lag, but you have to take into consideration that this EP added a metric shat-ton of new items, styles, interactions, behaviors and animations. It's going to take a while to load all those.
As for the crashings, I've only had it happen twice, but I hear it's a big issue with pirated copies.

I havent had a problem with crashes or anything like that, but it does feel a little but slower - but this would be expected with any expansion pack. Try taking a look at anything else using you CPU to see if you can turn stuff off whilst you play. Sometimes my pc starts a back-up when I'm playing and this drastically effects gameplay, so make sure your computer is doing stuff of it's own :) hope this helps :)

My game is lagging like hell too, I tried to play my saves and I almost bited my tongue with the madness. I can only play without lag if I remove all my CC and don't use anti-aliasing, which I was extremely happy to notice that I could use when I got my new video card. SO YEAH, I have a pretty good new video card, not more than 1gb of CC and no mods because I'm sure they're all outdated with Gen. No idea why I'm lagging.

I don't have any crash or lag issues, but it did corrupt my main saved game and rendered it unusable. That's what get for not backing up. Oh well, new family started already with another save slot

My game is amazingly fast, it's used to a lot of CC's. You need to install with no CC's. Then add clothes, hair etc. Don't add any mods until they are updated or the author says it's ok. You are asking for problems if you do.

I installed my game without mods and everything and my game still lags a bit more than it did before, even with only three families in the world at the moment. The load times are shorter, though.
I don't think I'll be able to enjoy Sims until I get a better power supply for my extra desktop at the end of the week.

My game lags A LOT. It completely freezes up sometimes. But I have a relatively beastly computer, and only official EA cc....I'm going to fiddle with the options, but I really shouldn't have to, I way exceed system reqs. So yes that is kind of annoying. Hopefully its something they can fix with an update.

For people experiencing crashes (or even freezing); add TS3W.exe (found in TheSims3/Game/Bin) to your Data Execution Prevention settings. This happens to me every single time I get a new EP.
If you're not sure how to go about it, go here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings

I have Twallan's Overwatch, MasterController, CAF, Porter, Portrait Panel, and Register. None of them cause my game to crash. However, I was sure to install the latest version.

Mine is about as laggy as usual. It's crashed once and then I had it freeze while I was creating styles. I had finished the outside, three bedrooms, a nursery and two bathrooms when it froze in create-a-style, so I had to power down my computer & I lost it all, which was a HUGE bummer! I'm taking a break to relax, then I'll go back and start editing - saving more often, too!
This is what I get for using a Macbook Pro instead of a Desktop computer.

My game has been loading fine, but I have been having a problem with glitches.
Is anyone else having either of these happen:
[1] Relationships disappearing. Every time that I exit the game, I'll have sims that are married and all of that. I reload and their relationships are gone completely and they're no longer married/dating/whatever. (Thankfully, it still recognizes family ties, but it takes them down to 0.)
[2] When my sims go to stargaze, the meteor warning pops up. Every. Time. It's kind of funny (I guess my game hates romance lol), but I'd like my sims to look up without any danger of having their heads smashed in by space rock.

Seems like most of the problems are computer related. In Sims 2, if I had problems right off the bat, I reinstalled all the games. It got to the point that I would automatically do it because it was happening so often.

Same here...and trust me, my computer can way more than handle this game - it's a brand new Alienware. Funny thing, it just started about an hour ago and I've been playing since yesterday. WTH? Ugh. Never had any issues whatsoever with TS3 til I installed Generations, and I have ZERO CC.

My game is practically unplayable and it takes more than one in game hour for each animation to play. An hour for my sim to sit, an hour for the sim to put the bowl on the table, an hour to push their chair in... And so on. It's so annoying that I quit playing. Also all of the trees and bushes in my game look horrifying all of a sudden.. it's so weird. I have 500mb of CC and only twallan's mods installed... I just don't get it.

I hope not either. My PC is nearing 2 years old and it is just now showing lag in TS2 so I got concerned. This is after it wouldn't even LOAD TS3 when it first came out (And when it did load, I could only play for 15 minutes before my pc started CTD). Took HP/Intel 2 YEARS to update the driver for my video card (an integrated GMA 3-series) that was the cause of the crashing (I'm insisting on a dedicated NVIDIA video card for my next PC).

2nd Jun 2011, 02:37 PM
Actually yes, it does. I always play with full graphical options without a hint of a problem (I even could do this BEFORE I upgraded my machine). It's very strong. Yet after installing Generations it will lag and freeze up for short bits of time, which is very annoying. Turning down reflections and edge smoothing helps but also makes the game look like Will Wright got sucked into the game, invented a time machine, travelled back to the 1990's and released TS3 back then.

2nd Jun 2011, 02:37 PM
Oh, and about the interactions: I found that taking mods out and removing the cache files solved the problem. I will gradually reintroduce some of the innocent looking mods. I don't know which one caused the problem.

2 years only? Mine's 4 already, but since I have windows 7 (Home Premium edition, 64bit), 0.75 GB more ram (I have 1.75 GB now. yay!) and a new graphics card (NVidea GeForce 220 GT) I can run TS3 with almost everything on high settings, with lag sometimes, though. My PC has periods where it laggs really bad ._.
EricasBold9780
2nd Jun 2011, 03:19 PM
Yup. Because of the graphics card and processor freezing the game. I could only play TS3 for up to 15 minutes initially before it crashed.
I have only been able to play TS3 on it since December. It runs both games now, but TS3 seems smoother than TS2 which lags and freezes often. I guess that's what I get with an integrated card.

For some reason my game will play perfectly fine for about 1.5 hours and then all of a sudden my game will freeze and then a popup appears saying "The Sims 3 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution." Then it'll say something like "The game has stopped responding windows will now force the program to shutdown and notify you of a solution if there's one.." This has never happened to my game before and I don't know wth is going on.. :(

Now, on top of all the other problems I've been having since installing Generations, my female Sim keeps:
-Getting stuck for no reason whatsoever, standing there waving her arms and screaming til I use the "moveobjects" cheat to "unstick" her.
-Disappearing random places such as the roof. I cannot see my Sim, nor command her to do anything.
-Rolling the same wants over and over again.
....ugh.

Don't use any mods and haven't seen any of the lagginess other are experiencing. Which I'm very sorry that they are. It's always very frustrating when something like that happens and it's very spotty for those it happens to and those it doesn't. I hope it's something that the Sims Team can rectify quickly for the people who are experiencing the problem.

Since patching to 1.22 my loading times doubled, even taking 10-12 minutes! I had all sorts of graphical issues, including disappearing/stuck Sims, borked serenades that never end and every tourist that came to town set off a rash of "Jam with..." wishes.
Played with my Mods and CC to get the graphics working, then "suddenly", with no changes since a couple of load/save cycles ago, the same fambly loads in 3-4 minutes again!
So my advice if you are stuck with slow loading times is to check your mods/CC and just wait for the new patch to "bed in" on its own and hopefully your loading times will return to normal.
Still looks buggy as heck to me tho.

To those who have lag problems, have you guys tried updating your graphic cards? Sometimes a new graphic card driver fixes a lot of laggy issues, especially in Sims 3. And yeah, I've experienced this first hand.
I would say the 2 latest Nvidia beta drivers are the best for Sims so far. The latest one also improves processor's performance by 12%, which still dumbfounded me on how the heck they manage that? LOL

My game has been running perfect until installing this EP. I have a new computer with a special graphics card, 8 gig memory, etc. I know it can handle this game. I had problems on Windows 7 constantly but I bought a new hard drive and put Vista on it and the game has literally had no issues whatsoever. Now, however I lag, my game freezes, takes longer to load, crashes and I have other issues. For example, I can not save any custom patterns or colors. Sometimes it acts like it is going to save them but then when I go back in they are gone. I put hair on my Sim man and then went back in and it was all removed. After my couple was married they woohooed and she got stuck in the bed. Sometimes when they go to have any sort of interaction I can't cancel it. If it does cancel the box will sit there and flash for awhile. At first I couldn't even connect to the EA Download manager...every single night since getting the game. I reinstalled that tonight and it had me reinstall the updates...unless that was a new update that just came out today. I had no CC when I installed the game, I put that in later. I have NO mods, only custom hair and clothes. I don't even use custom objects, just hair and clothes. I have not gotten anything saying my computer or graphics card needs updated (and my card is setup to tell me and has before). Besides...if something needed updated it is a really strange coincidence that the game ran perfect until I installed this new pack. Sucks because I was SOOO excited about this new pack too :(

I am seeing a whole lot of "lag" issues now, everything my Sims do seems to freeze at the end and now they even jump away from the other party and drop their queue when they fulfill a wish such as hug or kiss.
I have been careful to use only updated mods so I wonder if this is going to stay with the game. Maybe the specs keep going up with each addition but I can't afford to upgrade my system so if it is a performance issue I'm stuffed.
I'll tell you, I spend more time sorting out bugs in this game than actually playing it! And I bet I'm not the only one. But my Sim families keep urging me to try! :luff: Does this mean I'm nuts? :jest:

Here's a FUNNY little thing.
As I was installing Generations, my entire computer crashed. There was a burning smell, and when I logged back on... lo and behold, my graphics card has melted.
It has basic function, but not enough for Sims 3 in more than frame-by-frame.
Thanks Generations. You flipped my computer over. >: Getting a new graphics card tomorrow. Luckily I can afford it.

I noticed this too, now when I zoom in a house, I put the game on pause for a few seconds, it makes the loading of the textures faster.
I've not experienced any lag, but I have noticed that my save time has increased.
Also, when I click on a Sim, either the active or the in-active, the whole game freezes for 1-2 seconds, before the pie menu comes up. With objects the menu comes instantly, this only happens when clicking on a Sim.

My only problem with lagging since installing Generations is that if I leave the speed on 3 or 4 for too long (like when all my sims are sleeping), it freezes for a few seconds. But I can keep it on 2 for a while and it does fine. My simbot loves going to bed super early anyway so she always wakes up at like 4 or 5 in the morning... I don't have to wait that long before I'm playing someone again.

Hmm, pretty hard to tell.
You see my gameplay is just plain weird.
Once I start a new world it runs fast and smooth.
Once I play for maybe a day it starts to get laggy.
And once I really get into the game, its starts to get real laggy.
Every second of the game lasts 3 seconds in real life.
It crashes alot thats why I save the game often, real often...

I just thought it was a combination of my computer sucking and my Sims just being super weird... The dressing lag is the most annoying... I had one go all freakin' night before she finally changed to go Moonlighting. No money for her! The Base game with no expansions lags a bit with a lot of stuff running but now I can't really do anything else but play the game and maybe have Skype open without my laptop burning a hole through my legs....
On the plus side, it's made me dig my chillmat out of the box from when we moved.
Edit: About the graphics card thing... I've had meltdowns while playing WoW before (It just overheated for the last time), but luckily no real smoke/melting. After ruining two laptops in four years that way, I'm getting a desktop for most gaming (and likely the Sims, especially before I buy Pets!)

The game still runs fine for me after installing Generations, but for some unknown reason, every time I put the CD into the drive, instead of the Launcher coming up, it starts to automatically uninstall. I'm able to stop it, but I have no idea why it keeps doing this.
Maybe it's my computer's way of saying it doesn't like the game?
