They don't have to be low budget as in, crappy-rundown set designs or anything. By "small business" I was trying to emphasise that it wasn't like a massive chain store or department store that sells everything and anything, just a single little business with a limited range but that could be anything from a handbag stall at the market to a classic car dealership or expensive clothing boutique. I should've been clearer, Traelia did say last night that she was unsure about the wording but I thought I'd fixed it :/ Does that clear it up?

Indeed it did :) thank you.

When can we post our round two application?

I don't even know what happened, but it's not my first time to be out of the loop.

I just know that while reading that comment (HP's) I got all: "omg it's gonna say laughingtoleave... OMG IT'S GONNA SAY LAUGHINGTOLEAVE... oh my it's gonna... PHEW, no laughingtoleave."

Oh my goodness, who would do that? I agree with HP, it's kind of tacky.

In the rules, it says that text can't be in simlish. Does that mean the banner thing or the objects themselves? Because I got some good stuff from ATS that has simlish that I might use!

And guys, just buy a blank lot and work with it - make up your own community lot.
I found this out the hard way last round, I had the perfect park for my photo-shoot, but you can't pose there. Let's just say that 18 is not too old to sulk like a little girl XD

Also, one small thing. I'm super supertious, and it's freaking me out that I'm contestant number #13 on the first page. Seriously, I'm sorry to say I'm not joking, it's actually really bothering me. Is it possible, now that lilyandsnuggles2 is banned that I can be #12 or I can switch with somebody who's less crazy then me?

If you could hold off posting R2 until the Application round has closed (in about 3.5hrs) that would be good :)

Anything on your un-edited image can be in Simlish since that's how it appears in game. It's just the text that you add to the image in the editing process that I'd like to be in English.

hmmm where is all this no poses on community lots coming from? If you look at my entry the first pic has them doing poses on the beach. If you want to do poses on a community lot you must go to edit town, choose your desired lot, build/buy on it and place the pose object that way. Then go back to play mode visit the lot and do poses using the pose object that's on the community lot. simple.

oops, sorry, I missed the bit about the number 13. I can swap you round later if you like but for now can I keep it as is (*is stressing out at the fact that she's only managed to completely judge 2 entries so far* ....need to write quicker/write less for each one!) You'll have to remind me though 'cause I'm forgetful :p

ngluvjj, that's what I meant, English is the preference for banners/slogans/text you add to the pic but for in game objects simlish is fine.

I hadn't thought about doing it that way. I usually enable testingcheats and then left shift on the lot and choose the 'buy/build on lot' option.

happymintchocolate
23rd Jun 2011, 8:00 PM
i would of explained it that way but i thought for people who don't use that cheat or who aren't familiar with might be a little confused so I just said the non-cheating way, but yeah i use the testingcheats way too :P

With testingcheatsenabled true can't you take your sim to the community lot, shift+click+"build here", move your sim then go back to live? (I've not tested this theory)

yeah, you prompt your sims to travel to the community lot. Then you do the shift build/buy trick, move and place whatever it is you want - then go back into live mode with the changes applied.

:alarm: There's less than one hour until the application round closes. Any entries found to be edited after then may be liable to a points deduction. :alarm:

Welcome to heaven_sent_8_18 who has kindly offered to be an EJ. :)

Ebec you are now no 17. Kiara you are no 13.

To all, I'm on a break atm 'cause I can't work upstairs on the big pc when my son's awake :anime: Think I got through 5. Will hopefully get more done tonight but I still haven't heard back from one of the judges (not surprisingly since the round hasn't even closed) so just to warn you you might have to wait until after the shut-down to get your results....but it'll be worth the wait ;)

EDIT: I've just had a request for an extention because one of the contestants is having computer problems and therefore can't update their entry. For easiness sake I will still close the round at the planned time (about 30mins) and the extension will apply only to this contestant unless anyone else comes forward with a request before round closure. This is because my self and one of the other judges have already put considerably time and effort into judging those who have marked theirs as complete. This also means that scores definitely won't be posted before the downtime. Any issues please feel free to ask/comment.

Traelia just raised another good point that I should clarify:

Q: For the first client, does the photo have to take place in their business, or should it just be clear that I'm trying to sell their products?

A: It doesn't have to take place in their business but it should be obvious that it's a publicity event for that company eg your sim could be handing out pamphlets to people in the street or advertising in the local Mall.

Thanks for posting the next round (:

I'm aware that my first round is the weakest, no need to tiptoe around that when judging 'cause I completely own up to that. Bearing on the "no elims" bit I just had to post something amidst the flurry of coursework or I would not be in at all - every other round takes place during actual free time! :D I'm in it for the fun anyway.

ChloroformDreams

@picass0blue: I totally understand where you're coming from about the schoolwork cutting into your time. I have almost 100 pages left to read and seven hours of lectures to go through before my exam Monday. And that's not counting the time I need to review everything. :faceslap: It's probably not a good idea that I keep using TS3 to procrastinate...

missroxor
24th Jun 2011, 4:16 AM
I need to clarify something else: sorry, it all makes perfect sense to me but that's 'cause I know what I'm thinking, lol. I'll work on perfecting my clarity before this contest is through!! Anyway, someone asked me about the sort of services that are suitabe for the 2nd client and I just wanted to try to make it clearer:

It should be a service ie you don't buy things from them, you pay them to do stuff for you such as paying someone to wash your car or clean your pool or give you a massage or fix your wonky teeth or let you use their gym equipment. It also needs to fall within the category of small business. for the sake of this contest I don't include any type of government/public/large corporation service such as emergency services, courts, infrastructure. In my mind a small business is something that your Uncle Bob could potentially have started or had handed down to him. He might be a big name in town but he isn't a millionaire and he doesn't have several franchises: he's just a normal guy with his own business.

Does that help any?

PS if anyone has issues over the next few days I will very likely be in chat probably sometime between 8pm-11pm PDT

Client 1: Oddball Oswald's Quirky Designs

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/alissaya/Screenshot-4966-1.jpg

My close friend Ozzy just happens to own a lovely little haberdashery/design store in Bridgeport. Once he heard that I was in need of a local store to promote, he was adamant about me doing a little photo shoot in his store! I was so ecstatic becuase I love the whole "Gothic Lolita" style that fit his store design perfectly. The clothes were adorable and I had so much fun playing around with the sewing machines and frilly fabrics! The only thing was that the lights were really bright in the store and I only had one day to do the shoot, so the photographer made it look kind of antique-y to change the huge amount of contrast in the lighting.

Client 2: The Love Doctors' Hospital

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/alissaya/Screenshot-4991-1.jpg

I bet there're quite a few guys back home in Riverview that could've used something like this. I've personally had one or two times where I couldn't think of any way to apologize. The Love Doctors' Hospital will go as far as helping you create songs to serenade your love with! The buidling is covered in hearts, which makes it just that much cuter. The staff is super-friendly and they will honestly try their best to help you get out of the romantic hole you dug yourself into.

If greyscale and sepia are allowed, is "bronze" from photobucket okay? It's just a overall colour change like those two are, just more golden then sepia. I'll post my first picture (with the bronze), and if it's not okay, I'll put up the regular one up. And sorry about the quality of the picture, I'm tired of switching back and forth between graphic qualities, so I'm just not bothering. I want this to be fun, not a bother.

I would just like to clarify a point about Round 2 (Client 1):
You must show your sim physically advertising a product. Whether they’re dressed as a hotdog on the high street or draped seductively over a flashy car is up to you but much like the first round you are capturing a scene, not making a poster.
By this I meant that the model should be on location advertising the business, not working in the business. It's supposed to be more of an "entice people in" sort of assignment the same way you get people dressed up in outfits to advertise shops or out handing out leaflets or samples. In some cases this might include looking like you work for the business, and that's fine, for example A bar/club owner might hire some pretty women to wear skimpy clothes with his logo on to hand out samples as a way to entice party people into his club. Your sim is being hired to make the business's products look good so people will buy them. So please be careful how you word your description.
...Actually, I was trawling the net to find examples and I discovered there’s an actual name for the type of advertising I’m trying to describe so if anyone is still unclear please look on wiki here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_marketing) (“Some street marketing examples” could be particularly helpful in understanding)or google street marketing.

ebec17 I'm ok with with you making the image grey scale, sepia, or any other tone you want if you feel it adds to the image/mood but the rule is that the whole image has to change (which you've done but just for clarification) ie in your image editor you should "Select All" and not just highlight/colour individual bits.

I'm adding all the R2 entries now :) Good work guys

^Well, when first introducing second round, she did say that second client should be a service provider. Now, you can alter it to a 'furniture restoration shop'... or something like that.

Round 2: Antea Jones
Client 1: Lizzy's Little Corner Boutique
Lizzy's been a friend of mine for years. Recently she decided to start a small business and on opening day she came up with an idea of 'living mannequins'. "Who's better for this job than my friends", she thought... So here we are... being mannequins.

KeiraLou, I don't know what you mean by "slogan type business" but I didn't change my mind or change the type of business at any point, I only tried to give a wider range of examples:

The second client is a service provider eg Interior Designer, cleaning service, mobile phone network… ...paying someone to wash your car or clean your pool or give you a massage or fix your wonky teeth or let you use their gym equipment.
As far as I can tell these all fall into the category of service providers that could be done by relatively small, local businesses. In that first post I also tried to make the distinction between the type of business by saying that the first client was was a "retail outlet... (shop/store – sell physical things)" and saying that client 2 was "a service ie you don't buy things from them, you pay them to do stuff for you"

I'm not sure where your confusion came from but Laughingtoleave's solution which is to "alter it to a 'furniture restoration service'... or something like that." seems ideal to me since that is technically a service and not a physical thing that can be sold/bought.

I hope you get your laptop issue sorted soon :)

To the judges:
Here's a repost of my first round, because MYP ate the originals.

Headshot: (just gonna post links so it's not a bother to people to load)
http://i53.tinypic.com/10prixe.jpg

Hi there! My name is Lily Cho. I'm a bright young woman. I have been an aspiring model for such a long time that sometimes I lose hope in ever making it big. My family is traditional and doesn't approve of my dreams to be a model. My father wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer. And I just said "Forget that!" My friends all think I'm just the cutest little thing. My group likes to go out and shop, y'know, the typical girl things! My favorite color is pink! In case you never noticed.. People sometimes compliment me on my fashion sense, and I'm darn proud that they want to know where I get my clothes. I want to be admired someday, like all those other famous people out there. Anyways, if I had to describe myself, I would say I'm a little bit dramatic sometimes, childish, I have a great sense of humor, I'm pretty unlucky, and I would say I'm lastly a good cook! My favorite music is pop, and I looooovve sushi!

I seem to be having PM issues at the moment. My inbox/sent items is full but it won't let me delete anything. I'm gonna make a thread in site issues but in the meantime if anyone needs to contact me you can either post here or I;ll stay logged into the #create chat room all day. I might not always be at the computer but feel free to PM me there and I can get back to you asap. Alternatively, you can contact Heaven (the EJ) if she doesn't mind since she's in my timezone and permanently in chat ;) so she should be able to pass any messages to me in chat :)

All fixed, nothing to see here :) Thanks Delphy

Yay, ModTheSims is back, some new entries are already up (love 'em, by the way!) and... I could finish my entry too! :D
Here's...

Round 2 - Jorn Ilvonen

Client #1 - Soundwaves Music Store

http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq28/Doctor_Ruin/Spot4.jpg

Soundwaves Music Store started off as a little music shop in the upskirts of Bridgeport, but was fast to gain more importance and soon the original owners decided to transfer the whole thing to a bigger place in the center of the city. Always known for the huge variety of music and the cool offers, Soundwaves decided to start with a party to celebrate the opening of the new store by playing music outside the building and giving discounts on CDs and DVDs to anyone who would have taken the store's flyer at the DJ booth.
Obviously, they needed someone to figure as a DJ... so they took me. While I never did the DJ in my life before, it wasn't a problem: I just had to act like one and look convincing enough. Seems it worked :jest:

Client #2 - Bridgeport Travel Agency

http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq28/Doctor_Ruin/Spot3.jpg

BTA is one of the oldest travel agencies in Bridgeport. They needed some fresh and still pretty unknown faces to sponsorize their new airplane trip offers (hence the "let your dreams fly"), so I was sent there to do some promo pics.

(Note: I know that the format may look pretty weird on this one. It's what here in Italy we call a "6x3"... a huge horizontal poster you generally see on the streets, 6x3 metres being the *real* size. Dunno if the orange line on the bottom is considered to be "too much Photoshop" D: if it is, I'll remove it! )

@missroxor: I was just wondering what the rules are as far as Photoshop for this round, cause I'm a little confused looking at some of the pics. I thought we were only allowed to adjust brightness/contrast and add text. I'm interpreting this as I shouldn't even sharpen my pics. Like Astraea, I just want clarification because I don't want to get dinged points in judging, but if we are allowed a little more freedom with PS this round, I'd like to know.

No problem. I've written up a more in-depth guide to the rules of using photoshop. If I've missed anything let me know.

Tonal changes: (For all images) Yes I initially allowed greyscale and sepia tones but didn't mention other tones because tbh, it didn't occur to me that some of you might want to use other colours. I'm ok with you making the image grey scale, sepia, or any other tone you want if you feel it adds to the image/mood but the rule is that the whole image has to change ie in your image editor you should "Select All" and not just highlight/colour individual bits. You should also apply what I've said previously about greyscale and sepia which is that you should think carefully before using it, does it go with the theme/mood?

Sharpening/blurring(For all images) No I personally am not a fan of this in contests just because I think people have a tendancy to over-use it and sometimes end up ruining a perfectly good image so this is not allowed.

image levels*(For all images) Yes This is allowed because a lot of people have issues with screen shots coming out very dark. No inverts though please, keep it reasonable.
*Image levels is basically adjusting contrast and brightness.

Text and borders - may include a text box(For all images) Yes You can add text to any image as a title for example or if you wish to add a small quote or something but make sure it doesn't get in the way of viewing the image. You should use it only if you think it enhances the image. Unless otherwise stated (like in Round 2, client 2) you cannot be deducted points for not adding text but may be deducted points for adding text that detracts from the overall image.

Add ons (For Round 2 Client 2) Yes - Round 2, Client 2 Only unless specified By this I mean any layers you add to the image to make banners, slogans etc. If this requires a big box or stripes orwhatever that's fine for this task specifically as long as it's part of the slogan or logo and not something that's photoshopped into the image (ie you can't just photoshop a cat on to your image to sit on your sim's lap because you don't have one in game). So yes, astraea, your banner is fine.

Size and proportion: (For Round 2 Client 2) Yes - Round 2, Client 2 Only unless specified The image can be any proportions you want really since it's supposed to be a poster or advertisement and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Mosaics (For Round 2 Client 2) Yes - Round 2, Client 2 Only unless specified Since many posters or newspaper ads often have picture in picture or are made up of multiple pictures this is allowed for this assignment. As always, be sure that the effect is beneficial to your entry (ie a judge may deduct points if he/she thinks your entry is overcrowded for the sake of having lots of pics etc).

UPDATE ON SCORES
Just to let you all know, the scores are almost entirely done, we're just waiting on one judge to give 2 sets of scores. It wasn't their fault, when 'modyourpanties' went down thismorning two of the contestants images dissapeared and he/she wasn't able to see them before he/she went offline. We've had comments from one of the EJs and Wicked_Poppies has kindly offered to finish up his comments too. I hope you're all prepared for a lot of reading: you wanted feedback and you're getting it by the bucketload!

Sorry I got really confused, must have read it wrong the first time I get what you mean now though. Will make some adjustments, I already have a idea on what to do. Hopefully the charger for my laptop will be here today or tomorrow so I can get on with it :-)

Ok, here we go with round 2...

Client 1: Comickaze

http://i51.tinypic.com/14czbt2.jpg
Comickaze, the new comic book shop at the local mall, wanted an attention-grabber for their grand opening. So, in what has to be one of the coolest modelling jobs ever, I got to dress up as Wonder Woman and put on a show involving giving her enemy, Ares, a good butt-kicking. I had to take some stage-fighting lessons before hand, but it was definitely the most fun I've had in ages!

Client 2: Relic Retrievers

http://i54.tinypic.com/2pry0b5.jpg
Relic Retrievers is one of the premier relic retrieval agencies in the world, so I was thrilled to be part of their new advertising campaign. We shot on location at the site of some ruins in South America. It was absolutely breathtaking!

*wipes brow* Boy, am I glad to be done. This round was brutal. Fun, but brutal. Not sure if it's because it was in the middle of exams or because I had a hard time grasping the concepts required for it (I had to completely redo my first client). Bravo to those who already completed it! I have a new-found respect for your entries this round after attempting it myself.

@missroxor: I didn't end up doing too much in Photoshop this round simply because it simply would have detracted from the pics I ended up choosing, but I really wanted to thank you for your thorough clarification. It definitely helped my understanding of what is/isn't allowed.

Astraea Nevermore – 290.5 (96.83)
1 – A really unique looking sim – I’d love him in my game! Dig the steampunk theme – great use of props and fog emitter with the clock, top hat etc. Great poses in both pics, really enhance the theme. Love the ‘boulevard pic’, such emotion! Sorry don’t really have any negatives, just a request to see him smile next time!

2 – I really have nothing against your Round 1 Submission. Great job, Astraea!

3 – Your head shot was perfect: well lit and well positioned. I never thought I’d say this about a guy with long red hair but Jorn is really handsome. I love your use of props in your ‘Time is running out’ pic and the pose you chose gives the impression of movement which compliments your story nicely. Your wispy text that looks like it’s disappearing against the fog reflecting the idea you portrayed in your text of “transitioning”, like it’s just transitioning through time with Jorn and adds to the movement portrayed in the image. Going for a steam punk themed outfit was a nice touch too; given how steam punk and time travel go hand in hand.

In ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ your use of props is really good though I feel you could’ve perhaps done a little more to give it that urban feel you might expect to get from a Boulevard. Your pose is appropriate and really sets the mood and I like that you emphasised the word “broken” in blood red as it hints toward the bloodshed that occurred in the scene.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Intriguing model, great representation of themes, clear, frontal headshot. Great work showcasing your model with the themes without overshadowing with props. Running Out of Time: I knew the theme without reading though I didn’t necessarily think time travel. However, I LIKE that it can work for more than one idea. Boulevard of Broken dreams: Pull back the sheet! Very captivating. I really want to know what/who is under there. Makes you feel an instant bond of sympathy and heartache with Jorn.

Picass0blue – 218.5 (72.83)

1 – Not the most attractive headshot to sell yourself to a modelling agency – she looks too glum – bet she could pull off a really enigmatic smile. The costume for the first pic doesn’t do it for me but you could definitely guess the song title so it works! The wall background could be livened up, maybe some graffiti?
Pic 2 – can’t see as much of the sim as I’d like and plumbob visible - though a really good use of props.
2 – The first pose (Rebel photo) was a bit awkward. Only the hands seem to look rebellious. The second one was confusing and I didn't understand how it matched the "I Fought the Law."
3 – Your head shot is well lit and well proportioned but I don’t feel like Ramona is conveying an appropriate emotion for what would probably be the first picture anyone would look at in her portfolio: she looks a little depressed. In ‘Rebel Yell’ I love your outfit and hair choice which go well with the theme as does your chosen pose but I feel like you could’ve put more thought into the set design. Some props would’ve been nice and a general background theme that doesn’t rely so heavily on the written description for explanation.

Good on you for trying abstract with your second pic but I think it might be a little too abstract for my understanding, lol. I’m not sure how the “fairy under a toadstool” bit fits into the rest of the theme and I can’t really see it in the pic except for maybe the pose, I think perhaps your overall description could’ve been a little clearer. I really liked the idea that Ramona wasn’t physically and openly fighting the law: it was more of a suggestion. Your eclectic bundle of props fits well with your description too. I would have preferred to see more of Ramona and have her looking toward the camera, at the moment she’s kind hidden behind props unnecessarily in a way that detracts the focus from her and onto the foreground props.
You haven’t been judged on your alternative photos or extra title suggestions since it’s only the ones that you submit that count.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Would have liked headshot out of CAS. She has some unique features but looks a bit like a sim out of the bin edited a little. Rebel Yell: after reading the description I can see where you were headed but you weren’t quite there. The background doesn’t add anything to the scene and she rather looks more like she is falling. I think reworking the camera angles and making us SEE the abandoned stage would have helped a lot. I Fought the Law: The pose may be good but it is really hard to see with lots of objects in front of her. I think the idea itself was a good one again, but the scene itself is not show casing her as a klepto nor does it seem to have anything to do with the law. I think you have great ideas but you need to work a bit more on capturing the scene and really showing the idea you have while still remembering this is a modeling contest so your applicant should be the focus.

Ngluvjj – 280.5 (93.5)

1 – Great headshot – very manga-esque sim. Love the costumes used in ‘Stairway’. Both pics have excellent choice of poses. Perhaps the school could have done with making it more of a school. There is a big bare area of floor –perhaps could have done with some lockers or chairs? Also the nerdy kid was very pretty, slim etc – maybe could have appeared even less attractive?

2 – Your poses and sets match the songs well. I gave the posing a 13 out of 15 because the second one's ("Why Can't I Be You?") pose seems a bit odd... although it looks as though she did fall, wouldn't she have gotten up? lol!

3 – Your head shot was perfect: well lit and well proportioned. Lyla is very cute and doll like and sounds adorable in your write-up. You chose perfect poses for ‘Stairway to heaven’ that convey the angelic theme beautifully and your outfit choices are appropriate, I love the wings. While the starry sky is appropriate given the common belief of heaven being ‘up there’ , it seems a little bare. I would have liked to have seen just a little more in the background. Perhaps a fog machine or emitter to give the effect of clouds?

I really liked your ‘Why Can’t I be You’ pic. Your poses, outfits and props are fantastic. I especially like how you’ve captured that look of longing in Lyla and conveyed the idea that she’s a bit of a geeky klutz. I feel you could make better use of lighting though. Currently the couple on the right are very shadowy when I feel like it wouldn’t have hurt to have them more visible so we can better see why Lyla wants to be them.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Though not a frontal headshot, I think this captures Lyla well and we can still see her features. Starway to Heaven: I think this is a pretty good portrayal. I would have liked to see a bit more focus on Lyla rather than both centered but overall, well done. Why Can’t I Be You: Nicely done. I like this one and think it is quite a good interpretation. Also easy for people to identify with.

Sisaly – 259 (86.33)

1– very unique Angelina-esque sim. Great headshot. Preferred the original photo – maybe as sim seemed closer. Yes the landscape is broken up by a bridge but would have liked some ‘hell’ – maybe even just a run-down building. Still pretty obvious what the song was so doing something right! The juxtaposition with the next pic is dramatic. I can’t work out if it shows her versatility or whether she should have shown a little of her own personality in the photo. Once again though the song is obvious.

2 – The first picture ("Highway to Hell") only has an impressive bicycle and model, but when you look at the background, it doesn't really look like she's on a highway to hell. The second picture ("Dancing Queen") looks great, though.

3 – Your head shot was perfect: well lit and well positioned. I loved that Pricilla really showed her range in ‘Highway to Hell’. It’s so different to her other looks. Pose and use of props like the cigarette and bike are fantastic and fit the theme perfectly but I would like to have seen more appropriate staging. Currently it looks like quite a nice, bright day: she could be out for a nice ride in the sunshine. Perhaps something a bit darker, maybe with her riding towards some red/orange light source and perhaps some fire from the fog emitter or effects machines if you have those EPs (just an example, not saying that’s what you should’ve done). I also love the font choice and symbol which really compliment the theme.

Dancing Queen is simple and elegant. At first glance it seems a bit bare since there’s not a lot going on in the background but after thinking about it I realised that that’s actually kind of appropriate: like she’s on the stage and the spot light is on her and only her because after all, she’s the queen of dancing! Although she’s obviously stationary because of the posebox you’ve done a great job of creating the illusion of movement with the flying skirt on your outfit choice and the sparkle machines. Nice work.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Model is quite unique. Not what I would call traditionally pretty but it’s nice to see something a bit different. Highway to Hell: pose/theme is nice <snip – comment about rule breaking removed by host due to ambiguous wording in the rules which has been rectified. You have not been deducted points any points for rule breaking by the other judges either - snip> Dancing Queen: I think this is a nice shot, centered and lit well however, I think it would have been nice to see a more creative interpretation; this pose seems too literal.

Kaylarox – 277.5 (92.5)

1 – I’m so glad you didn’t change the pic. I love the pose and the croc! Not so sure about the plants but hey, great theming. Beautiful sim, even looks part Samoan. The dress and hoop earrings even look a bit 1999. 2nd pic – Great costume, make-up and pose. Wall seems a bit bare for my liking. Maybe some more ‘props’?

2. Feedback – I love your first picture of the partying song. I think it matches perfectly. The second one also fits the theme. I love your sim's pose! Keep it up!

3– Your head shot is perfect: well lit and well positioned. I love the humour in your ‘Party like it’s 1999’ pic. I never would have thought of pairing a sim with a crocodile/alligator thingy but it looks good. The light and fog really help give it that disco feel and your text is exciting and vibrant which matches the theme nicely. It’s hard to convey movement in a still photo but I think this theme really calls for it. Maybe a streamer or sparkler box would’ve done the trick?

I love your ‘I Will Survive’. It’s simple with barely any set but it totally works. My eye is automatically drawn to Luana who somehow manages to pull off fierce and sexy while crying in a moment of weakness!

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
I think her headshot is lovely. She is quite diverse meaning that she is not easily distinguishable as one race/ethnicity. I think this could certainly work to her advantage. Party Like It’s 1999: Nicely lit but my eye/interest is drawn to the gator rather than Luna. Remember, she is still the model! Make sure she is easily the focus. I Will Survive: I really like this shot: it’s simple, to the point without overstating things. She certainly looks like a woman who will do whatever necessary.

Happymintchocolate – 227 (75.67) y

1 – The sim has a great look and love the background story. In the first pic the ground around the graves is a bit bare - maybe a vase of flowers on the grave or photo frame etc would have added to the sense of loss.
Pic 2 is more obviously themed. Great pose and agree with the choice to use grayscale. Shows more depth to the model too.

2 – The first picture ("I Will Survive") has your model posing really weird. The pose doesn't fit the scenario very well. The second picture's very impressive, though. Work on your posing!

3 – Nice headshot, well lit though It wasn’t necessary to post 3 versions (no points deducted but I haven’t judged them either). Your setting works well with your description for “I will Survive” but it’s very dark. I know it’s a cemetery but for the sake of the photo shoot I would expect to be able to see Ted’s face clearly (in this pose).
For ‘I will do anything for love’ I feel like you portrayed the first half of the title well with the aid of your description but not so much the second half: I didn’t get any sense of what he wouldn’t do, it was more like what he couldn’t get. I think the greyscale worked well in this image it helps evoke a sense of melancholy.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
I would have liked to see more of a headshot. Also, although the mustard of the background and the red of his shirt look nice together, a lighter color would have looked more professional. I Will Survive: Though I can see where you were going with this, I just don’t think you made it there. He WILL survive yet he is just lounging in a graveyard? WHAT will he do to survive? Maybe an agreement with the reaper or something showing his willingness to survive would have been a better portrayal of your idea. I Will Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That): Again, the idea is a good one but your overall shot is ambiguous. It seems like you forget the “won’t do that part” because he seems to do ANYTHING rather than having some limit. Also, I don’t get one night stand from this. More like he is thinking of leaving or feeling guilty for something and she is clueless. Work with your angles and scenes a bit better. You’ve got good ideas, just need a little work to make them better.

Nhayes17 – 274 (91.33)

1 – Love her look. Neither pic really showed her whole body though which let it down a little but the poses were suitable nonetheless. Both images show great use of props and are highly creative and unusual interpretations . Excellent attention to detail with the clothes/hair/make-up. Pics spoke for themselves so no probs with the lack of writing.

2– Is that a vampire coming out from her grave? I'm not sure how a dead rising character fits the "I Will Survive" theme... I love the second picture of the Rebel Yell song, though. It's very impressive!

3 – Your head shot was perfect: well lit and well positioned. I like your vampiry take on ‘I will survive’, very original. There’s not a lot I don’t like about this picture actually, if anything: it’s an original idea and you’ve really set the mood with your choice of outfit, location and lighting. Oh, and I like the emphasis on ‘will’ in your text, it really portrays her steely determination. ‘Rebel Yell’ is more difficult to define but I appreciated your humour in questioning whether a rebel is too cool to yell :p Eve looks the part with all her accessories and you’ve done a great job with props and lighting but I am a little perplexed by the green fog: it makes me think of noxious gases... I’m not sure why she’d want to hang out in that no matter how off-the-wall rebellious she is, lol. I like how you play with your fonts too. Intentional or not I dunno but the ‘Yell’ looks like she could’ve added it in herself graffiti –ing a perfectly good sign like a rebel would do!

In both pictures it’s obvious you’ve really thought outside the box by choosing poses that are designed for nothing to do with how you’ve used them and it really works. Also, all three portraits have very different looks which is good but they do all have a dark and/or edgy element to them. Would be fun to see if she can also pull off something a little more ...dare I say it, soft and feminine?

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Great headshot except for not following the rules about it being on a light background. She has an interesting face that could be edgy or made to look quite young and cute. Wow, what a lovely shot. The lighting and the angle really showcase the theme and without the headline, I believe I could have instinctively understood it. Also, the shot of her face shows exactly what I meant about being able to be edgy. Well done. Rebel Yell: I like the lighting and the backdrop. I think overall it is a good shot, but not great. Her face looks too cute and serene to be rebellious or “cool” but I see where you were going with this. A more indifferent pose or one with a bit of attitude would have suited your idea better.

Shadow_Girl 89 - 275 (91.67)

1– nice headshot, nice look. First pic I feel is too ‘grounded’. Maybe should have been looking upwards to show her ambition? I love the mirror concept – goes perfectly with the song title. Very creative. Admire your choice to go with a plus size model. She’s unique – in a good way!

2 – I love your photographs, especially the "Why Can't I Be You?" one. Keep it up, Shadow_Girl!

3 –Your headshot is reasonably well lit and well positioned. I love that you’ve gone for an unconventional model. For ‘I believe I can Fly’ I think you did a good job of portraying the theme with your image and description and I like that your set and costume share a theme (I’m assuming fairies at the bottom of the garden?). I think this image would’ve benefitted from some lighting: At first glance I didn’t even notice she was wearing wings, I thought that was just a bush behind her.

I love the concept of your second image and I’m impressed by the creative way you found to execute it. I do feel like the composition could’ve been better though: my eye is automatically drawn to the lamp rather than your sim. Maybe a different arrangement with the sim more central would’ve been better? I like how you’ve stressed the word, “you” in your text to maybe give a sense of desperation but I feel like the font is a little too light-hearted and whimsical for the mood you’re trying to convey.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
She is nice looking and it is nice to see a plus size model. Please read the rules, light background required for headshot. I Believe I Can Fly: the shot is a bit dark. Also, I think some active working towards her goal would be nice. Even in the description, you stated that she will reach her goal and soar, but she doesn’t look to be trying. It’s almost there but needs a little push. Why Can’t I Be You: I quite dislike this one. I think the concept is good and the set up is nice: however it is in direct contradiction with her saying she is confident about who she is. The technical aspects are good but I think you should try to stay true to your model.

Apparently there's too much feedback for one thread...

Scores continued...

Traelia – 275 (91.67)

1 – What a cute sim! Love her look. Your pics show amazing attention to detail and excellent choice of poses. Love the clever use of the fog emitter and smudged eye make-up, really suits the song title on 2 levels, metaphorical and real. Hope to some other sides to her…

2 - Feedback - Your photoshoots were outstanding. I can't really say anything against your photoshoots, and I love how your model's face matched the body pose.

3 – Your headshot is well lit and I like that the pose is playful without detracting from our ability to see her features and beauty. Your Barbie girl pic is adorable. Your props and colour scheme fit the theme nicely and your pose is cute and feminine. The sparkles and butterflies portray a feeling of magic and whimsy which I think are entirely appropriate for an uber feminine ‘Barbie Girl’.

In Pic 2 I like that you’ve gone for a contrasting mood (compared to Barbie Girl) to show Lily’s range. Nice use of props to convey what was supposed to happen and good on you for looking into the other effects the fog emitter offers

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
I like the playfulness though it is a tad unprofessional for a headshot. However, it is likely to make an agency remember her. Barbie Girl: I think the pose is cute and adorable but more princess than Barbie. I would have liked an idea of what your interpretation of Barbie is. The colors and lighting are very nice though and the angle is spot on. Why Does it Always Rain on Me: I quite like this. I think the fact that you combined a story with the literal aspect and set the scene with props really helped to take this to the next level. I can completely see the sadness at being stood up and like that “raining on me” can be both literal and figurative in this scene.

Cruzy – 225 (75)

1 – Gorgeous sim – love his eyes and facial structure. I get the idea and pose in ‘Everybody Hurts’ – maybe could have done with more of a hurt or grieving look rather than just thoughtful but still a powerful image. 2nd pic really needed the explanation as not obvious in the picture. Maybe could have done with some props?

2 – I don't really see how the Edge of Glory picture matches the song title. Perhaps you could make it look as if your model just won something and isn't randomly jumping up in the air? lol. The first one seems nice, but the pose is a bit unfitting and he doesn't look like he's hurting very much.

3– Nice, well lit head shot. Would’ve liked to have seen it slightly more zoomed in but it’s not really a big deal. I really like that you went greyscale with ‘everybody hurts’, I see what you mean about it being black and white: it is what it is, we will all go through it at some point. This is reiterated by your use of what plain type lettering which in my mind evokes the feeling that this is a fact, not an opinion. I’m not overly keen on your positioning though. It’s unusual and original but I can’t help but think that if Todd was staring directly into the camera it would help portray the emotion and honesty of the theme. Even if he’s accepted it and embracing it, it would be pretty cold hearted of him to not feel any emotion at all.

While I like how you made a story that connected the pose to ‘the edge of glory’ I feel like you could’ve chosen a better pose, one that didn’t need so much explanation. Abstract is one thing but I feel like you had to try too hard to make this pose work. Plus the whole image is reliant on the pose itself with nothing going on in the background. It’s very well lit though and I like your font with the halo effect around ‘glory which reiterates the part of your story about glory being enlightenment.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Though this is a headshot on a light background, I would have liked to see a closer shot of him. Everybody Hurts: I like the idea and the message that grief is unavoidable. The pose makes him look as though he is pushing away from it rather than embracing it. A more solemn pose, maybe holding himself would have been more appropriate. Edge of Glory: I like the description but what I see is a football star preparing for a touchdown rather than a man on his way to enlightenment. Again, I think a different pose would have been better suited to show what you were going for. Lighting though is great for the night shot.

Laughingtoleave – 256 (85.3)

1 – Love the sim and back story. Sim is original and non-EA looking. The first pic confuses me as with sand/ a modern bin/ old crates – not sure where the setting is. Plus the pose is a relaxed lounge which doesn’t really suit the scenario. Not sure about the glam top either. Could have been a bit more ‘haven’t washed in a fortnight’ if this was meant to be post-apocalyptic. The facial cuts are effective though. You could still guess the song title …
Sorry, I preferred the earlier pic you posted. I’d understand this one better if there were 2 boys playing something a bit more of a male dominated game/sport.

2 – I loved your "I Will Survive" photo, but the second seemed odd. She and her spouse don't look happy at all, and according to your description, if your model were a boy, your model would live happily ever after. Yeah, I don't see that in your photograph. Keep working on your poses and make sure they reflect what you want the judges to see!

3 – Nice, well lit head shot. Would’ve liked to have seen it slightly more zoomed out but it’s not really a big deal. I love Antea’s outfit choice and make-up in ‘I will survive’ but the choice/positioning of the pose seems a little awkward like she’s in the middle of trying to stand up. Good work with props but I would have liked to have seen more thought put into the lighting. I feel like it’s very bright and sunny which contrasts with the mood of the image.

You made a fantastic choice for your pose in ‘if I were a boy’ it really ties in to your back story. She does actually look like she’s staring longingly at the family (life) she desperately wants for herself. I can’t help but wonder if the scene would’ve had more impact if the girlfriend was more involved: like Antea was watching her play with a child or someone else’s baby? Even though her outfit choice is a massive stereotype (butch lesbian lol), I really love it, it compliments your back story and suits her.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
The headshot is very nice. Straightforward without being boring. I Will Survive: Looks like she is a cast away on an island. Definitely looks like she has been through a lot but it’s not going to stop her. Somehow she will find a way which is a great representation. If I Were A Boy: The theme and the description fit nicely. However, the scene itself doesn’t seem to fit. The random children seem to just be plopped in. I don’t think they are really adding to anything. Instead, if it were just the two women and maybe a heterosexual couple with a baby or getting married, the intent might have been clearer.

KieraLou – 258 (86)

1 – I like her unusual face and the make-up chosen. Great headshot. In the Barbie Girl pic I felt the sim herself should have been more of the focus as any of the 3 could have been the main model here. Also found the poses a bit staged and could have been more ‘girly’ to fit the scene better. I prefer the 2nd pic. It’s more emotive though maybe should have included either a stage/cameras to make the title obvious or maybe a short written explanation.

2 – I loved your Barbie Girl photograph! Nothing needs to be improved, in my opinion. (But be careful when you have other models in the photo; sometimes they don't fit the theme as much as they should be helping.) The second one's awesome, because you can see obvious worry on the celebrity's face

1 - Your head shot was perfect: well lit and well positioned. I like that you’ve tied your Barbie girl image to your story by having her hang out with her other doll friends (though Clara was a new one on me). I feel like the set lacked that overly girly feel you’d get with a Barbie theme. It was very pink but there wasn’t a lot of frills and the bar signs gave it a more grown up feel than I would’ve liked to have seen.

I feel your second pic would’ve benefitted from a short explanation. It’s obvious that Emily is playing the part of a famous celebrity to fit the show-businessy theme but I’m not sure what mood you’re trying to convey. “The show must go on” is typically said to indicate that if/when something bad happens that should affect the show, the performers shouldn’t let it stop them carrying on. Your font choice kinda fits this since it’s dramatic and bold but I don’t feel a sense of what has/could happen or that what the show is from the rest of the image. It’s not clear what is happening in the background either. I really like Emily’s outfit choice and pose which do a wonderful job of giving her that celebrity/performer look

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Though this fits a headshot, the shot itself is rather bland. All the colors seem to melt together; the pink of the hair and the skin fade into the blue of the shirt which blends with the background. The sim herself is pretty but some differences in coloring would have gone a long way to making her stand out. Barbie Girl: Honestly, I am a tad confused. Your sim is not the center or the focus of the shot. I would have also liked some description as how this fits the thing because, besides from the pink, I see nothing Barbie about this shot. The Show Must Go On: The colors and scene look nice but I am trying to figure out what show needs to go on. I would have loved some kind of story to describe why she looks anxious.

Aliyssaya – 273 (91)

1 - Attractive, non-EA looking sim- great headshot Lots of cc used in first pic – not sure if all necessary but the theme is clear and so is the song. Cute girly pose is perfect. Love the attention to detail in the second pic, especially the bandage and blood. I do feel the love element/betrayal detracts from the ‘fought the law’ theme though.

2 –I absolutely adore your Barbie Girl photo, but the second one makes no sense. I don't think it portrays the theme very well. It looks really complicated and confusing. It's not clear what the other model's roles are in this scene: a better description was needed for this image.

3 – Your headshot is well lit and I like that the pose is playful without detracting from our ability to see her features and beauty. I really like your Barbie girl shot. Your set is very pretty and feminine and your chosen pose is cute and playful. You text is very fitting too. My only negative is that I think there might actually be too much focused light. The white objects in the forefront have been saturated with light. If you’re using buydebug lights I find sometimes it’s easier to use a couple of dim lights than one bright one. Having a mixture of white and flame can also help soften an image and make it less contrasty.

Your second image looks really good but I’m confused about how it fits the theme. I’m not really sure what’s happening, I think it would’ve benefited from a longer explanation.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Interesting model though her headshot is not professional, it is memorable. Barbie Girl: Though I get the blonde and the cutesy pose, seeing her in a Barbie house or with plastic looking/bright furniture would have been nice. What makes Barbie Barbie? I Fought the Law: I’m trying to see fighting for her right to be with her lover. Who is the random blonde in the background. I think you need either a better description of the scene or a better shot portraying your explanation. Both work separately, just not together.

Misanthrope – 292 (97.33)

1 – What a beautiful, realistic and enigmatic sim! Wow wow wow – love the jail scene – amazing attention to detail in costume, décor and even facial expressions! Seductive scene is well executed too – love the window view and sumptuous bedding. Looking forward to seeing this character have fun too!

2 - Personally, I think your submission was among the best of the best entries. The first one shows a lot of action and suspense, and the second is really fitting. Keep it up, I'm expecting more great work from you!

3– Your head shot is perfect: well lit and well positioned. I’m also a big fan of your colour choices here. I was tickled by the fact that she doesn’t give a damn about modelling; she just needs cash to pay for her wayward lifestyle. The instant I saw your ‘I shot the Sheriff’ I loved it. It’s a very dramatic piece that has the feeling of a moment of impulsive violence accidentally caught in time: perfect for the theme. Everything about your staging appeals to me from your props and lighting (which is fantastic) to your attention to detail with the spare model’s poses and outfits. You have a real knack for using colour too. The only slight negative I can come up with for this pic is that I can’t understand why the jail would have a reflective floor....but at the same time, when I try to imagine the image without the blue reflecting along the bottom (covering it with my hand, lol) it just seems like it wouldn’t draw your eye in the same. So, I think it adds to the picture, just not sure about how realistic that aspect of it would be.

I don’t think I need to comment again about your use of colour in the second pic....but I will anyway! I don’t think it’s as powerful in this image as it was in the last but it is still very effective. The pinks and reds set the mood for romance while managing to maintain a grown up, sophisticated feel which seems to suit Nadia more than silk sheets and rose petals would. There’s not much in the way of props here but it works. I love Nadia’s pose and I love the layout of the room. It’s hard to tell from here if the guy is interested or not which fits with the theme that she wants him to want her (suggesting she doesn’t know if he does).Nice choice of text, very wispy and romantic, reiterating colours used in the rooms decor. Nadia isn’t my favourite looking sim in the contest but you more than make up for it with everything else.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Very interesting head shot. She is extremely interesting and, seeing this, I am very interested to see what she can do. I Shot the Sheriff: This shot is very good. Great colors, angles, etc. I like that there ISN’T a story because it is clear enough what the theme is while being ambiguous enough for me to wonder what’s going on. I Want You To Want Me: The colors and window view are great. It’s also a great shot of Nadia. However, I would have liked to see something a bit more out of the box. How much does she want him to want her? To what lengths will she go to make him want her? Otherwise, very nice.

ChloroformDreams – 274 (91.33)

1 – Wonderful use of make-up and other cc. Very realistic poses though I wouldn’t see pills and a bottle as signifying determination to survive. Good use of cc again in the hospital scene. Realistic poses again and have set both scenes will to fit the titles chosen.

2– The first picture was really impressive and really let out the feeling of the picture. The second is also very moving and sad. Great job, ChloroformDreams!

3 – Your head shot is perfect: well lit and well positioned. I normally like them to be fully lit but you’ve created a nice effect with the shadowy contrast, it really defines her features without being too dark or contrasty. I really, really love your take on ‘I will survive’. It’s a powerful image executed well with fantastic use of props and make-up. I even like that fact that you can’t see the guys face unless you look in the cracked and broken mirror. Intentional or not it emphasises that the man we see – the man she sees before her is a broken, shattered and twisted version of the man he used to be perhaps when they first met. Just fantastic work!...and no, not too vague, you told an entire story without uttering a word.

Again, great use of props, you’ve really got the hospital feel to a tee right down to the stark lighting. I like the ghostly effect of the text, hinting at what’s to come when time does run out and the contrasting outline emphasises the urgency. If I had a criticism of this pic it would be that I feel like it lacks a little emotion. The guy is obviously cuddling up to the girl to spend her last moments near her but the chosen pose looks very relaxed and chilled out rather than fraught with emotion....or perhaps you intended for him to look at peace with the situation? I dunno, If it were me I would’ve had him at the side of the bed hunched over with his head in his hands or maybe reaching out to her looking pained (if a pose like that exists)...a bit more forced physical separation to emphasise the fact that it’s only a matter of time before he loses her and he can’t do anything about it.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
Definitely not a stereotypical model but quite lovely. I do think she looks quite unique. I Will Survive: Nice use of props and the mirror. I really like how you set the scene up. It is a bit different from the “do whatever it takes to survive” jibe as she is in a rather submissive pose but you can still feel that she will endure this and whatever else. Time Is Running Out: This shot doesn’t wow me. It’s nice, it looks realistic and is a good interpretation. I just think that it seems rather standard for a story in which one does not have a lot of time. Push the envelope a little. Otherwise, nice work.

Ebec17 – 224.5 (74.83)

1 – It’s a shame that neither pics show her face fully. Like the grayscale (though a more yellowed sepia would look better if that was an option) but it does make the ground look too smooth and textureless. A lounging pose? Not so sure but the setting theme is so well executed you could still guess the song. Wish the face was more visible in the second pic with maybe more focus on her expression.

2 – Honestly, the first photograph doesn't really seem related to shooting the sheriff at all. The second doesn't match the song you chose. The image descriptions didn't help my understanding any. I think you should focus on the theme and feeling that you're trying to convey. For example, the first picture looks more like your model's showing off, and the second looks more like she's happy, not sad. Work on the feelings of your pictures, please!

3 – Your headshot is well proportioned and reasonably well lit but a portfolio headshot would normally be very posed and I feel like Renata just looks distracted. I like the old western theme you’ve gone for with ‘I shot the Sheriff’ and the sepia tone works very well with it. I can see that this is a nice angle to view your pose from but I don’t like the fact that she’s not even looking in the general direction of the camera.

With your explanation I did like the concept of this image but I feel it could’ve been better executed. I don’t think it was necessary for Renata to be in the flowers, it would’ve made more sense to me if she was sat nearby instead.Fitting outfit choice but perhaps tear stains would have helped emphasise her sadness rather than appearing pensive as she does now.

EJ Comments (not included in the scoring):
The headshot is not great, to be honest. It’s hard to get a great look at her face to see her model potential. I Shot The Sheriff: I think this is a rather cute interpretation. As you said it is rather whimsical. However, I’d like to know WHY she shot the sheriff. Without the gun, this could have been a dozen different interpretations so the scene itself, without the one prop, doesn’t do much to set up the story. Why Does It Always Rain On Me: Interesting idea: melancholy even when you have every reason to be happy. However, you yourself pointed out that she isn’t really doing what you wanted since she is smiling so the pose is only half there. Also, it would be nice to see a bit more of your model instead of her hiding behind all the flowers. I think with some work, you can get there though. Keep it up.

Round 2 - Lily Cho!

Client 1 - Simtoria's Secret Lingerie

I was surprised when a rep from Simtoria's Secret approached me and asked if I'd like to take part in their street marketing. All I had to do was walk around downtown in their lingerie! It was so much fun! The crowd was going wild over my scandalous outfit. It made me feel super sexy. This picture was snapped right after I passed the local dress shop, and some ladies made sure to express their opinions on what I was wearing. ;)

Client 2 - Sunset Valley Wedding Planners

I loved the idea of this poster when the manager of the shoot told me what was going to be done. The other model and I had a ball pretending to be brides. I think I would kill a wedding planner if they ever did that to me though!

(Sidenote: Thanks Ben from #Create for the wonderful idea :) also, fun fact:I put the two weddings in the same lot, so that black bar (I thinned it a tiny bit) is actually a wall separating the weddings.)

I'm excited that the scores came in- Even more so because of the constructive criticism because it helps me fix the stupid mistakes I made. Some of them deserve a :faceslap:.

Edit: One question, can we add text to the Client 1 pic?

I really hate to do this a few hours after getting my scores, but I think I'm going to withdraw guys. I actually agree with the constructive criticism, it's really not that. I'm not into my first picture this round, hate my idea for the second one, and I just can't muster any energy to work on this contest. Pose player is hating the typed poses as well, so I only have access to the new list ones, which makes my selections limited. As my fifth grade teacher would say, it's a bunch of excuses, true excuses, but excuses nevertheless. Maybe it's because I'm depressed again, I don't know, but I don't want you guys to think I'm some wimp who can't take a bit of criticism. I know this is stupid, but I've been fighting this funk for the past couple months, and it's just getting the best of me. You know?

Good luck with the rest of the contest, I won't be following probably, but I wish you guys the best.

Yay, scores! Glad of the very positive feedback I received, don't think I'm going to do as well on the second round, but... well, I tried :jest:

Lol, glad to know I'm not alone! I'll admit that coming up with the pics this time was pretty difficult D: but it was useful to... "study" I'm having my graphic design and lettering exams in a few days, planning these sim commercials was still a useful exercise! :jest:

...I still think that I may change my first pic, though. Same concept, just a few changes in the crowd. The second one will probably stay the same, even if I'm not 100% satisfied with it. University is really giving me hell T_____T

Round #2

#1: Somers' Bedstore
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad108/xesszackly/Screenshot-715.jpg
As you can see, I dragged my friends along on this one! (L-R: Kyra, moi, Lisbeth, Shannon, Bengi.) The idea was a live advertisement for the Somers' Bedstore in town. When I volunteered to help out, they suggested we hold an outdoor pyjama party to advertise their gorgeous new summer line of PJs and sheets. They even let me take the yellow dotty set home as a thankyou gift!

#2: Tom's Tech Support
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad108/xesszackly/ramonaTomsTech3.jpg

Tom's Tech Support is a small local business near me, specialising in both hands-on and over-the-phone help with IT. I had to pop into Tom's when my laptop stopped working in the middle of a gigantic Graphics project, and he was more than helpful and had it up and running in less than a day - he even rescued all my files! The business is run by Tom and two understudies, with his wife on finances. I thought, what better way to show my appreciation than providing them with a new advert while building my portfolio at the same time. As usual, it was really fun dressing up, and even though they're not shown in the photo I had another excuse to wear my lovely white cowboys. You might be able to tell we went with a "Tron" theme, especially the textual parts (which I did myself!), cleverly (or so I think) inverting a lot of the colour relationships while sticking to the blue glowy effect. I hope you like!

ETA: Have now read the judge comments, and I think they're completely fair :) Thank you for being honest. I probably could have explained the second shot better, but it was hard in the character's own words. It was also the very first time I have ever used poses; I would have had a much easier time if we were allowed to "pose" from ingame animations as I'm more experienced with capturing a moment manually than with dealing with the mismatching face/body poses that are released. That said, I know that was not the point the judges were making and I believe all of your reasoning still stands.

ETA2: Please note that Round #2 Image #2 is intended to have been "inspired by" as opposed to "portraying" or "endorsed by" the film (as many small businesses do to get attention), and it is intended as entirely the creator (Ramona)'s thought process seeing as the story goes that she puts together all her pieces in this bizarre way. Will somebody please tell me if there's a problem with this? I can remove the reference if you're that bothered.

(Can't I add spoilers or make particular parts of my text smaller? I would have liked to avoid cluttering my contest post for the judges' sake, without doubleposting.)

I should really do Part #1 now (or some coursework), but all this Tron has put me in the mood to waste today on Audiosurf!

Thanks for the feedback judges :) .

When I got the call to say I would be advertising for some local businesses I was over the moon! I know they aren't well known but I'm happy to take any kind of modelling, it's what I love doing the most.

Mary & Clives Clockwork
http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa467/Lou_Barratt/Screenshot-73-3.jpg
This day was truly special, I got to spend time with some lovely down-to-earth people who for the past 40 years have owned a family run business selling all types of clocks. Mary was very kind, offering me refreshments and cookies and Clive had a undless supply of old fashioned jokes to tell me. I also spoke to their granddaughter briefly but she was more interested going on her mobile phone then getting involved in today's activity. All in all, a wonderful day and wonderful shoot!

Honeymoon Hotel

This was a very interesting shoot for a well-to-do hotel in the city that specializes in couples, newly weds mostly. I had to wear kinky underwear for the shot, which was slightly out of my comfort zone but I enjoyed it all the same.

Client 1: Dals Dance Delicates.

We were asked to be live models. Ballet is not really my thing. But I enjoyed prancing around the shop window for the evening. Dals Dance Delicates, is situated in the middle of a mall. So it was a perfect place too advertise, for this dance season. I was really sad when I was not aloud to wear the cute tutu's. I can't wait for something more challenging.

Client 2: Blades Hair Design.

For the magazine shoot. I was set up for as a model - to celebrate the opening of a small hair salon. I got all my real hair cut, coloured and styled. It was real fun. Isla (the stylist) was so nice and lovely and a real talented hair designer. I am defiantly heading back there! This was fun for a small job :) and a new style!!

Oh boy, seeing your R2 entries, I feel it's better I just withdraw now... spare myself further humiliation lol

No, really, great entries everyone.

I just dropped by to wish you all best of luck, since I don't think I'll be home for next couple of days. So, if we don't 'see' each other, GOOD LUCK.
And don't disqualify like the last time I left you guys alone lol

I especially liked this photo shoot because my friend Lorie is the owner, and when she heard about my assignment she immediately put me to work. I've always imagined being a bride and having a family of my own, and dressing in a bunch of beautiful wedding gowns helped me imagine a fairy tale style wedding.

This was my favorite client since I've always liked to play dress-up, and being a creepy marionette for a day was well worth the itchy harness and awkward stretching. I especially liked the Victorian style outfit and hat. The Grim Reaper here was none other than the company owner, Darrel Simmons.

I'm sorry, I got a PM from a contestant dropping out just after I saw your post and I guess I either assumed it was you because of your last post or got the names mixed up.

Well, in that case, I have to announce the sad news that Cruzy is withdrawing from the contest due to a lack of time to work on it. You will be missed :(

To those that asked about who's still in, I updated the front page so the first list is just participating contestants *runs off to rub out Ltl's name from the drop out list*

Sorry if I've not been around much the last day or so, I had some real issues getting and staying logged on to the site but it turns out I was just being an idiot who deleted temp internet files instead of cookies  ....all round I've been playing a total blinder!

Just adding new entries now :)

ETA: LIES!! I did write an update yesterday but apparently it was one of the many occassion over the last couple of days when I got binned out so it didn't update :faceslap: Just gonna go through and see if I've missed adding anyone's R2 for the same reason. ....ETA: I think I have everyone's linked. There are 14 contestants still participating. I should probably also mention, just to keep you in the loop, that ngluvjj was either gonna have to withdraw or get an extension so she alone has a 2 day extension on this round but because it's not a contest wide extension (unless other people need it) she won't get any extra time added on to next week ie she gets 2 extra days this week but it means she has two less days than the rest of you to finish R3.

Can I just add that while I am really happy for feedback, judges are more than welcome to their opinions, and I love that you got that even though she was dead she had survived through vampirism it means that death doesn't mean dead, just not quite alive and if you really want to live on that sometimes death is not the end, if you have the will you can live on in a different way, and it you are determined you can survive?

and that I thought that pink was a light color background, didn't realize it would break the rules

And yes I meant the rebel yell to look that way - it was supposed to look rebellious, its hard with the limited poses we have to actually stand up to how the sims is and we need the face emotion thing for this to be fair, I'm not sure why one judge didn't get the rising from the dead thing, but hey I guess not everyone is not on you're level, I tried to mix it up a bit and be creative - I guess not everyone gets that - but i appreciate y'all comments and thanks or the info - and I really appreciate your opinions - and thanks for the feedback

Woo got my entry done, I admit I actually forgot all about this, but not to worry I'm still here :)

Where was I? Oh yeah I was telling you what happened next. After I gave my portfolio to Roxormodels, they was kind enough to give me two jobs, they were both for two low budget businesses but I was happy to start somewhere.

Samantha's Stitches - Clothes Store

http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z327/HappyMintChocolate/Screenshot-13.jpg

I headed over to my first job, it was in the park. I found out from Samantha, the boss, that she had just started a business selling clothes she makes herself. She told me she had managed to get money from her parents to hire a runway for the local park to promote her clothes and get people interested in her store, which is why she needed to hire me, I was to model the males clothes she had made. Out of all the clothes I really enjoyed the black suite she had designed, and I also enjoyed having the make-up artist paint my face.

00-Limo Services

http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z327/HappyMintChocolate/Screenshot-15.jpg

The second client was a small limo services company. I think I may have enjoyed the photo-shoot a lot more than doing the catwalk because I got to pretend to be 007, one of my childhood heroes. I was a little disappointed that the gun was a fake but for safety reasons I wasn't allowed a real one. The shoot was really fun and I was quick to make friends with everyone working on the it. I enjoyed every second of it.

lol, it's not that I expected the wedding to last for days... I just thought we'd stick around a bit longer. But when the first guest left, my dad got all: "That's our cue... off we go." We, literally, flew there, attended the wedding and flew back in less than 24 hours. I didn't even know that was possible.

And yeah, good luck to everyone =D

Roxor Models: You did good on those modeling assignments, the business owners felt the need to phone me and gush about all the extra business the publicity brought in so I guess we’ll keep you around for a bit longer. Students from La Fiesta Tech have asked Roxor Models to donate the services of a few of our models toward their end of year charity fashion show. You won’t get paid but you’ll gain experience and get your name, and more importantly; your face out there so get a move on!

Task: There are 5 students putting on shows but with all the outfit and make-up changes you’ll only have the time to walk two of the shows. You should chose two fashion students from the list below portraying each designer’s own unique style (through outfit choice and set/catwalk design/décor). Be sure to take into account each designer’s likes and dislikes. At least one of your outfit choices should be everyday wear. You should also provide a behind the scenes shot with a little paragraph about how the day went, how you got on with the fashion students etc.

Your set for this shoot is a catwalk but can be as conventional or unconventional as you like.

Fashion Students (choose two to work with):

(Hippy/naturalistic) - Sunshine Flowers (her given name) is a third generation hippy and level-5 vegan (though she prefers the description “free spirit”) who actively protests the use of animal skins and fur in fashion. Most of her designs feature ‘re-purposed’ or recycled materials and she insists that one day she will bring back tie-dye. Sunshine just adores everything about nature and loves to celebrate that in her work.

(Mainstream/trendy) - Bree Chatter-Housen is the self proclaimed top designer at La Fiesta Tech. Her dream is to be the next big thing at New York Fashion week and have everyone wear her clothes. She will stop at nothing to achieve that goal. She loves simple and classic designs paired with fabulous accessories. Her favourite colour is whatever happens to be ‘now’ but she loathes baring too much flesh claiming that “it’s just lazy design made for skanks and ho’s!” Most people think Bree is an awful person but nobody can say a bad thing about her looks, she’s always on trend and never has a hair out of place.

(Futuristic) - Davin Laarson is a foreign exchange student who mostly keeps himself to himself. Whether that’s through choice or not we couldn’t say. Most people who’ve spoken with him say he’s weird and intense and can often be heard muttering something about “them coming for us”. He’s obsessed with all things futuristic and/or space-age and his designs often look a little ‘out of this world’. Nobody’s got close enough to ask his preferences but he doesn’t seem to like too much colour, he tends to stick to neutrals and metallics with just the occasional bright accent colour.

(Theatrical) - Mary Cho is what some call ‘off the wall’ or ‘out there’. She finds mainstream fashion utterly “dull and lifeless” instead taking inspiration for her outrageous designs from stars such as Lady Gaga and Rhianna. She loves playing with a wide range of colours and creating unusual and over the top, theatrical outfits that probably wouldn’t be to most people’s tastes but she prides herself on catering to the ‘fashion brave’. Mary plans to specialize in costume design, be it for theatre or drag-queen acts.

(Alternative) - Danny Bishop is also a little ‘out there’ but for much different reasons. He is a dark, brooding soul who rarely finds much to smile about. His niche is ‘Alternative’ fashion which covers a wide range of dark, grungy and… uh,….more dark outfits. He’s not completely adverse to colour though, occasionally he caters to ‘plastic goths’ but he scoffs that he only does it ironically. Pastels and flowery prints cause him actual physical pain.

Requirements:
1. 2x full body images of you on the catwalk: one for each designer you chose.
2. 1x image behind the scenes accompanied by a short paragraph explaining your experiences and what it was like to work with your chosen designers.
3. Title all images so Judges can clearly see which designers you are working with.
4. Use of Text, borders and Logo's is not mandatory but is allowed.
5. There's no need to take budget into account despite it being a charity event. Assume that the college has an extensive art department already in place to provide all sets and materials etc.

Judging Parameters (overall, not per image):
Pose (includes facial expression)
Creativity
Portrayal of theme
Rule adherence

"It was pointless providing me with a chair Mr Bishop, have you ever tried to sit down in a metal dress?

Anyway my first two catwalks are over and I loved them both, Danny asked us to go out there and pretend we were on the set of a horror movie so that's what I did bar the screaming, it was sooo much fun, I think one lady in the audience actually fainted from fright. He watched scowling from the sidelines but he grunted at the end and apparently that's a good sign or so the other girls tell me. He might be a bit odd but there is something rather sexy about that guy and he certainly knows how to put on a show!

Sunshines's show was set at dawn to symbolise the phoenix rising and the transformation of old, discarded material into a collection of stunning new outfits and it was like well... like a walk in the park compared to this evening. I loved the outfit I got to wear, it was a really cute play suit made from old curtains, not that you would ever guess, that girl does amazing things with fabric. The catwalk was set in the grounds of a stately home, it was beautiful, with fountains and flowers everywhere and she really was as sunny as her name, a real pleasure to work for. She even talked me into volunteering with her at the local recycling centre at the weekend. It's official I love modelling.

Now can someone help me out of this dress.. helloo.. anyone there?"

May I just post warning that I am having severe problems with my laptop mousepad (primary input for Simming of course), to the effect that I sometimes sit for ten minutes stabbing at it waiting for the thing to move. This is happening several times every day now, driving me nuts, and wasting a lot of my time during important tasks so that I don't feel too much like entering anyway. This is just my apology in advance for if I end up missing the deadline and failing to post any dropout warning - if that happens, it is down to this getting worse, and I will enter later rounds for fun (if there are no elims). Good luck to everybody else!

Ok, let me say that I love, love, *love* this third round! Choosing only two themes was really difficult, 'cos I liked them all! D:
Anyway, here we go: I decided to go on a suicide mission and attempt the theatrical one. I would have liked to add way more stuff to the damn stage, but at this point my computer was already about to explode, so I really had to give up XD

Round 3 - Jorn Ilvonen

Mary Cho - theatrical/drag

http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq28/Doctor_Ruin/Catwalk5.jpg

As I think I've already mentioned in the past, I've always loved trying out costumes and make up, so when I got this occasion to have fun with crazy scenes, make up and clothes I just couldn't miss it!

Danny Bishop - Alternative

http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq28/Doctor_Ruin/Catwalk4.jpg

Kinda going back to my usual stuff, here. Danny's style may be a little more "goth" than mine, but I really love it. Unlike Mary, Danny wasn't really seen around much... and, even when he came to control the last things, he still didn't seem to be particularly open to conversation, so I can't say anything particular about him. :/ However, I still liked the experience... and the catwalk setting! :jest:

Backstage

http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq28/Doctor_Ruin/Catwalkbackstage.jpg

"So... am I a good hair stylist or not?" :D

Actually that's just me being an idiot in the backstage. None of the hair/make up work was mine. Mary Cho did everything... she's a true genius, very open minded and funny... and I love her style!
I just found that hair roller together with the other stuff and took the occasion to have some silly pics. Didn't actually dare to put the hair roller in my "hair"... or should I say "super cheap wig"? :D

I think the whole theatrical catwalk/backstage experience with her was one of the funniest experiences of my life. :jest:

Darn'it D:

I was going to do theatrical... but then I saw Lady Gaga's name and I shuddered a bit.

lol, I only named those two really to give you an idea of what I meant by theatrical ie that it could be more than just men in tights doing shakespear :p It doesn't have to be a replica of a gaga outfit or anything.

As for the runway thing, I feel like staging and setting a scene are important to these sorts of contests so the overall look and your ability to incorporate the theme (in this case the designers likes/dislikes and style) will be taken into account when judging the creativity and Theme interpretation aspects of the images. For the final image the only real theme is "backstage" there's no big need for it to be in the style of either designer since "backstage" could mean the model sat in a robe having her make-up done etc. Make sense?

PS Kayla, thanks for the above, hope that wasn't sarcastic, Bahahaha! ;)

Ps Thanks Ltl for clearing that (extension thingy) up earlier and sorry for calling you a dude, lol

Designer 1: Sunshine Flowers

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/alissaya/Screenshot-5234-1.jpg
This was a really fun show that we did in the park right by Ms. Cho's runway building. I think that I'll be wearing Sunshine's clothes even after the shows are finished. I never knew that organic fabrics could be so soft! I think I found one of my new favorite designers *-*

Designer 2: Mary Cho

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/alissaya/Screenshot-5256-1.jpg
Ms. Cho was an amazing, imaginative designer. Her clothes are super showy in a pretty sort of way... Also, I think we spent more time getting our accessories on than we did putting our actual clothes on! The show was really fun and there were strobe lights, silver flowers, and just a ton of sparkly stuff everywhere.

Behind the Scenes:

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/alissaya/Screenshot-5247-1.jpg

They were so considerate by leaving a giant clock to remind us when to go on and a hot beverage machine to keep us awake while we were waiting. I, of course, had no idea how to work it so I was staring at it blankly for about two minutes until Mary Cho finally showed me how to use it. I kept staring at it even after she had turned it on... There were so many buttons! I'd like to thank Ms. Cho for showing me how to use it. I also asked Ms. Flowers, who was outside at her shoot, and when I asked her she just said that it was full of toxins and killing our enviroment. I don't know how but I'm sure that there must be some reason she thinks so so I respect her decision, even though I was just about to fall asleep in hair and makeup. It was a really fun, yet exhausting day.

Round 3: On the Catwalk

Nature Vs. Chains
Spring/Summer 2011

I couldn't believe when they called me in for this show. I mean, I've always swayed a bit more to the whole underground scene but a chance to do both, and at the same time, and with such talented artists... not even an architect in me could pass on that one.

Designer 1: Danny Bishop: Mistress Cuir
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Dnpogwanlrk/ThgwhmCm_ZI/AAAAAAAABr0/YiPPKt3Sp10/s800/Screenshot-211.jpg

Getting into that dress was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. But it was worth it, everyone loved it and I swear a saw my girlfriend snatch one. And gloves, she loved those gloves. Danny was really nice, too. I admit I expected a lanky, pale guy in leather coat and pair of nasty fighting dogs on his hand, but he actually surprised me... in simple pants and nice, artsy, shirt.

Designer 2: Sunshine Flowers: Oriental Butterfly
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-AVud5VquZKo/ThgwXF9XjjI/AAAAAAAABrw/04es5jhjYV0/s800/Screenshot-210.jpg

Walking in that dress actually felt a lot like being naked, that's how free the fabric and design feel. I used to look at my mom's old photographs and admire that hippie 80's look and I'm really glad I got to wear something like that, and I actually looked good in it. I really loved this dress. I did miss showing off my tattoos but Sunshine insisted we cover them up. Who am I to complain?!

Behind the scenes: Nature Vs. Chains
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-5Gc_opymT1c/Thd5rh4qQyI/AAAAAAAABrc/X82tu0uGPZ8/s800/Screenshot-203.jpg

Two competitive designers on opposite sides of conformity scale... of course they got into a fight. Sunshine is a bit handful and Danny is more than persistent, and Sunshine doesn't really like 'darkness messing with her muse'. Which apparently I am. Not that I'm complaining.

:!!: All of my round 2 pics are blurry and low quality, I'm very sorry. I did in a hurry, I only put some words on it and light it, it used to be very dark. :faceslap: :!!:

Client 1
http://i53.tinypic.com/2utiaaa.jpg
My first client was Mr. Heiwa, he just opened a sushi bar at Barnacle Bay. His name means peace, which is why he named his restauran heiwa sushi which means sushi of peace, or peace sushi. He and his wife Mrs. Heiwa were very lively people :giggler: They lent me a mini yukata and put some geisha make up on me and even Mrs. Heiwa joins me in actracting customers! It was a very wonderful day
(if it must be a full bodyshot please open this (http://i52.tinypic.com/hstc3n.jpg) one)

Client 2
http://i51.tinypic.com/2dbqsld.jpg
My second client was Miss Diana, she is very pretty :lovestruc I thought she's about my age, but in fact she almost doubled my age :wtf: She taught me a few dance moves, and introduced me to a few of her best students. I'm surprised that her students were males, elders, kids, and many more. That guy with black hair named Quon, he's Miss Diana's nephew, he's super cute and super good in ballet! :lovestruc

now get some sleep, It's 10 a.m. :wtf: I haven't got any sleep :faceslap:

More sad news :( Unfortunately Misanthrope has had to withdraw from the contest due to unforseen circumstances. You'll be sorely missed. We now have 13 contestants left in the running.

ngluvjj you have less than 2 hours left to submit the second half of your entry. Good Luck

Also, so you're all aware: one of the judges recently landed a new job (congrats! :) ) but it means they didn't have time to provide feedback, only scores and may not be able to provide feedback for future rounds either so don't be too dissapointed if you only receive two lots of feedback some weeks (bearing in mind that it is not mandatory for judges to provide feedback)..

Round 3! - Lily Cho

(This round is right up my alley!)

Designer 1: Davin Laarson

Boy was this shoot fun! The entry-way to the runway was a replica time machine! Davin, though he didn't speak much, told me to act like a android soldier. I had lots of fun "commanding" the attention of the audience. The model that went after me was dressed as an alien, which Davin said we were supposed to be "enemies", so we scowled at each other when she passed me on the runway. They didn't get a picture of that.. sadly. Davin did have a small fit over the colored lasers.. However it was too late for pestering the prop people by the time he noticed. Oh well! I think the show went great! Everyone seemed really captivated by Davin's designs. (Especially the "non-believers", haha)

Designer 2: Danny Bishop
*Phew* This shoot was tough. It was hard for me to play this character. I chose to go with Danny because I wanted to show people that I can handle the darker side. And I have to be honest, it was tough, but once I got ahold of it, I had lots of fun. Danny was interesting, to say the least. He told me to channel my "inner gothica-vampire" (whatever that is!). I just thought of all those vampire movies (obviously not Twilight..duh!) and acted like I was the queen of the runway. Once I saw this shot, I knew I nailed it!
http://www.modyourpanties.com/hosting/28770_110706211217Screenshot-150.jpg

Behind the Scenes with David Laarson
Here is a shot of me and the model who was an alien talking right before the show started. We were discussing some ideas that we could do to play our characters better. She was such a nice girl, she told me, "You know, I've never really been instructed to be mean to another model! It's so hard for me to do that." We had fun glaring at each other though. Meanwhile, David is near the entry-way, freaking out about the colored lasers. We tried not to stare at him.. haha.

Sisaly I've PMd Beeps about that and the fact that it stopped letting me save it as an "in progress" contest and I had to change it to "Beauty" (what it was in the application stages) so hopefully she'll (he/she?) be able to sort it out :)

Also, I know you're all waiting to hear your scores, we're just waiting on one more judge and I'll post them :)

I am going to go ahead and post my first round three picture since Sims 3 is driving me buggers at the moment and I'm so tired I just said "buggers".

Davin Laarson-Futuristic

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4194/round3futuristic.png

I especially loved this catwalk because I've always been interested in Sci-Fi, aliens, and time travel. I was especially interested in the way they made the clothing look and feel like metal and make it flexible at the same time, but Davin said it was "top-secret". The other model I worked with, Anna, was very kind and insightful and even taught me a few tricks of the trade. The only bad part, though, was that I tripped over one of the effects machines and almost fell off of the runway. Overall, this was a great experience and I hope to be able to work with them all again.

Mary Cho-Theatrical

http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/4636/round3theatrical.png

This runway experience was definitely very....colorful. Mary's fashion sense was a bit unusual, but I loved her brave and bold attitude in fashion. Out on the runway I enjoyed playing with the bubbles and confetti(my hair was covered in it by the end).

Mary Cho-Theatrical(Backstage)

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6398/round3backstage.png

"Why are we doing this again?"

Before the show, the models gathered backstage and mingled. I met many great, kind, helpful people. After about ten minutes, Mary turned on the radio and everyone started dancing as she cheered us on. Apparently, this was a "pre-show ritual" for luck. Apparently it worked, because I didn't fall off of the runway this time!

no worries if it is all happening behind the scenes just seems exceptionally quiet

missroxor
9th Jul 2011, 2:07 AM
I'm wondering too, lol. The situation is that we have all the scores but one set for ngluvjj from one of the judges. I PMd the judge again last night to ask if they're still in but I'm waiting for a reply. I don't think it would be fair for an EJ to just do that one entrants score and have the rest of the entrants scored by the other judge so if that judge doesn't get back to me soon either myself or the other EJ will have to re-do that judges scores and comments. I will try to have it sorted before I go to bed tonight (it's 6pm just now) if they don't get back to me. On that note, things will be pretty quiet from me tomorrow since it's my husband's birthday so I'll be busy being slave to the birthday king all day

I also have some more sad news: Happymintchocolate is having to pull out because his game died to the point of needing to be rebooted. :( Hope you manage to salvage some of your stuff Minty, we'll miss you.

Shadow_Girl, when you open Fullbuild0 with S3PE, make sure that "Open as Read Only" is checked. That will prevent the game from freaking out when you have it open, and you can leave it open in S3PE while playing.

CONTESTANT – OVERALL R2 SCORE – R2 AVERAGE

Traelia - 285 - 95

Misanthrope - 277 - 92.3
happymintchocolate - 271 - 90.3
LadyAwesome/kaylarox - 270 - 90

Shadow_Girl - 185 - 61.67

Astraea Nevermore
1 – I was hoping to see him smile and we’re not quite there yet! First picture has an appropriate pose and suitable background for the ad.

It’s missing something though. Maybe more focus on the products being sold, even if just some posters. The second pic looks more professional despite being so much simpler. Love the idea but can’t see him as a beach holiday kind of guy (no points knocked off for that though lol).

2 – I loved your photoshoots! The DJ one was very impressive. The pose and clothing were chosen right, as well. The travel agency picture is great, too. Keep it up!

Picass0blue
1 – Another sim I’m desperately waiting to see smile! Without the description for the first one I’d have though they were selling pyjamas as I see too much focus on the models and can barely see the beds. Poses all suitable though and a nice picture overall. Second picture is suitable. She really looks depressed about her PC problems. Like the techie theme. A good advertisement.

2 – The creativity for your photoshoots is great, but the model's face looks a bit awkward. The rest of the pose is okay, but the face doesn't look like she's enjoying herself. Work on it, but other that that the creativity's awesome.

Ngluvjj
1 – Love the dancing images. Looks great as an advert. Model still just remains the focus but there is too much text in my opinion - the text bottom right was mostly unnecessary. The sushi restaurant pic is great, seems fine - I would suggest that there should have been some focus on sushi in the pic -perhaps on the counter for example.

2 - I really liked the idea of a geisha, however, real geishas dyed their teeth black (yuck! lol) and shaved their eyebrows and drew them up high. The make-up would be better reflecting that. The second one was very pretty, but your model wasn't actually performing anything. If it weren't for the people in the background, it wouldn't be obvious that it was a dance class. She does look gorgeous, though.

Sisaly
1 – Not sure you chose the best pose for Wonder Woman. I’d have rather seen a more feisty pose. A great concept though and a good advert for the business. The collage effect in the second picture really enhances the advert whilst keeping the model as the main focus. An excellent advert – great makeover too!

2 - The pictures are great, but I'm not sure if it seems more like a random photo taken by a bystander or an actual photoshoot. I guess a little bit of both, lol. It does look great, though. (Note from host: technically I didn't say it had to be a photoshoot though it was kind of implied I guess. Judge 2 has not deducted points for rule breaking)

Lady Awesome/Kaylarox
1 – I love the shop window dancing idea and the pose is perfect. This would make an excellent advert. I took a point off for ‘Rules’ for the second pic as although the technique was allowed I didn’t feel there was a focus to the images. I think it should have been the first or finished makeover image but not sure which and one or the other should have been more central. I love her ‘makeover’ nonetheless. and the theming worked well with the other images used.

2 – The first photoshoot looks awesome, I love how your model was the spotlight of the picture and not just complimenting other models instead. The second one does look a lot like an advertisement, which is excellent. You did a good job this round.

Happymintchocolate
1 – I love the first pic as it does represent a very non-glam, first modelling contract. Not sure if the clothes are being appreciated by the old folks though  Really like the 007 style advert. Very professional looking. Maybe could have done with some lighting? but I’m probably just nit-picking.

2 – I absolutely loved your photos! The first looks great and you did a great job. The second is really awesome, although I think the gun might scare customers if the limo service was real, lol! I like how, despite your model looking as though he were ready for a serious job, he was smiling. Nicely done.

Nhayes17
1 – Both are great pictures which meet the themes intended. The backgrounds have been just as carefully thought out as the poses. I feel that if you were advertising an ice cream hut as a new business more emphasis would have gone into the product so people had an idea of the range of ice creams sold as well as other items such as drinks etc. Second picture is fine for its use but would have liked to have seen her getting her hands dirty!

2 – Many may say my score is too high for you, but personally I really liked your photographs. Nothing against them and they're great!

Round 2 Scores Continued...

Shadow_Girl 89
1 – I think you could have done a lot more with the first picture- her outfit is gorgeous though. Maybe it’s cheesy but I would have preferred a bit more wedding-related theming in the background.
I’m not too sure what to make of the second pic. It’s crazy, stunning, totally unique and imaginative (here comes the but) but I’m not sure the general public would ‘get it’. There’s not much in the way of ‘decoration’, just costume and background. Personally, I love it!

2 – The first picture was great, but the second one was awkward. I understand you're a puppet, but isn't using a real model for a decoration like, illegal? LOL! I love your pictures.

Traelia
1 – Woah, Lily gets sexy! Love the pic, especially the shocked bystanders. A cleverly executed idea though not so sure about the blonde wig. Clever use of poses. 2nd picture is unique, well designed and an amazing idea. Poses are perfect, as with the theming. No negatives here from me.

2 – Agh, I think I give high scores away too much, LOL. Your first picture was awesome; it did look impressive and like an advertisement. The second was hilarious! Great job, Traelia. Keep up the good work.

Laughingtoleave
1 – Both ideas are original. Love the ‘living mannequins’ wish they would smile a bit though. I’m looking forward to seeing Antea without a pout at some point . The tattoo photo is quite sparse with regards to back ground and I felt it could have had something there – even if only a lighting effect but otherwise it looks like a professional pic. Good job.

2 – Your first picture also features MANY other models, which kind of takes the spotlight away from you. The second one is nice, though, and really seems like a good advertisement.

KieraLou
1 – Hmm. The first picture is a bit dull. Nobody smiling or looking helpful. That kid should have been removed lol, too stroppy! You can see clearly what sort of business it is but can’t see the model’s place in the advert. She seems a bit superfluous to proceedings.
2nd pic would be amazing for some kind of sexy boudoir hotel but maybe I’m traditional being a Brit but ‘honeymoon’ usually implies more of a virginal theme. They rarely sell black basques for wedding nights for example so would have liked to have seen her looking a bit more innocent and the decor a bit less ‘boudoir’ – maybe some lighter pinks/lilacs? Sorry that’s probably more of a personal opinion.

2 – The first picture looked odd; the pose doesn't match the setting very much, but other than that it is very creative. The second one seems nice, but unless the viewer is a male, it kind of looks a bit scandalous. I do like the picture, however, but the pose and clothing suggests something other than a honeymoon is occuring, LOL! Your pictures are gorgeous, nevertheless.

Aliyssaya
1 – Both are very professional looking adverts. You have shown great attention to detail again and have obviously done your homework with the poses/advert styles. Would be great to see some versatility from the model next time – something fun perhaps!

2 – Your model in the first picture has a pose that makes it look as if she isn't enjoying herself. Try a pose that is more interactive with the setting. The second one is gorgeous, though, and you took a risk with using another model in the background. Great job.

Misanthrope

ChloroformDreams
1 – Great stuff! Very imaginative and unique ideas. In both pictures the poses were perfect for the situation. Love the dazed look on the guys face whilst being kicked. Fab backgrounds with amazing attention to detail. Personally not a great fan of the bare brick walls, maybe a window or wall shelves would have helped but fantastic effort this round.

2 – I really shouldn't give out so many high scores XD but I loved your poses. The first one seems like a very good marketing idea and I love how your model was stage-fighting her enemy. The pose and face matched well. The second one is VERY creative and I love the pose! It definitely would make an impression on a customer.

Astraea Nevermore
9th Jul 2011, 10:07 AM
Oh, scores! :D

Lol, I'll admit I had found a pose I could have used for the first pic in round two in which Jorn could have been smiling... problem was that I should have changed his accessories + the majority of the setting and still couldn't find any suitable angle to take the pic! D: And I agree that the pic is missing something, tried my best to give a "music store" feel, but I'll admit I didn't really have much custom content to give that idea :faceslap:

Oh, btw... edited my first picture for R3. Well, not that much of a change, just found a way to make the same exact scene a little less "empty" without making my computer explode :jest: it's here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=3570224#post3570224) :D

After a great, but tiring day with the fashion students, Sunshine invited us backstage for some raw, vegan food and some bubble blowing. Her and Mary were very supportive, but tough. They know what they like and don't compromise. While we relaxed we talked about the future of fashion and the people we had met. Not everyone was friendly, but that's the biz. There were more than enough awesome people to make up for the asses. I will give you this little scoop.........Sunshine does more than blow bubbles. :heyhey:

http://i53.tinypic.com/2vv8ef5.jpg
Sunshine confided in me that many of her fellow students fail to take her seriously so for this show she wanted to do something a little less frivolous than was her wont, and asked me to try and portray how the beauty of nature can be wondrous and majestic. Despite her shift in attitude to something more serious on the runway, Sunshine still managed to make sure all her outfits were eco-friendly. I couldn't believe it when she informed me that the ensemble that I would be wearing was made entirely from recycled plastic that had been made into fiber and spun into yarn.

Designer 2: Danny Bishop
http://i55.tinypic.com/29ylfuv.jpg
After the incident that happened backstage, I was a little anxious about walking the runway with so many fake crows everywhere. However, when Danny told me he wanted me to pierce the hearts of the audience—and the cameras—with an intense stare, I knew I couldn't let anything get to me. Thankfully, once I got on the runway, the atmosphere of the show immediately had me immersed in the role of the fearless femme fatale that Danny was looking for.

Backstage at the Danny Bishop show
http://i53.tinypic.com/2ql5thd.jpg
When I first met Danny, he seemed so brooding and serious; however, I later found out that he likes to pull pranks on some of his new models. Kate, who's become quite immune to Danny's antics, told me I wasn't the first girl to fall for his fake-crow routine while she was doing their hair and makeup. I must admit, after I got over the initial shock, some of my pre-show jitters went away. It was also nice to see the usually dour Danny with some mirth in his eyes for once.

So when I partnered up with Bree, I thought it was rather bland. But at the end, I respected her. She has set high goals for herself, just as I have. She is talented and knows what she is after.
For her collection, she decided to go with business theme. She joint, clean cut lines, with classy woven pieces. This woman is extremely talented, I will be following her till the end of days.

Designer 2: Mary Cho - Theatrical

http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/yy187/klarox/simcontest/marycho2.jpg
Working with Mary was a bit different then Bree. She was a lot more fun. This shot was taken in the opening of the run way. Lights had just exploded on. I don't know how long we stood in the darkness for, but it felt like forever. I really wanted to keep that dress and super stoked to lead the runway.

Backstage

This snap is from one of the girls I shared a changing room with. This was taken just after the final event for the evening. I was first in showers, so while waiting for the other girls, I ended up falling asleep. Thanks girls. It was indeed alot of fun. We all mostly got along. It was interesting working with two very different designers. Bree is not as mean as people say she is. Mary is as nuts as she is portrayed but in such a fun way. Thanks to all the girls for the opportunity. And to Missroxor models, for giving me the experience of a life time.

DANNY BISHOP
Alternative
Deathtime Story
http://i53.tinypic.com/24czer5.jpg
Danny was amazing! His theme for this collection is Deathtime Story, which is potraying famous bedtime stories Dark gothic style  I was little red riding hood, with a vampire touch. It was pretty hard for me because Danny wants me to potray sexy and all mature little red with a touch of innosence :wtf: But I love it anyway :lovestruc

A little extra for this one here (http://i51.tinypic.com/xdtrvn.jpg)
It's my fave actually but It doesn't show much of her clothes and face :(

DAVIN LAARSON
Futuristic
23rd Century
http://i54.tinypic.com/9r50sm.jpg
I think Davin is cut out to be a scientist! I'm a little bit surprised that a futuristic guy made an everyday style collection, but he wants me to wear a full body suit anyway that made me looked like an android, the fabric was amazing! It looks like latex but when it's on it feels as warm as wool!! The dress is futuristic but it's also wearable, it's made off cotton with some simlastic fibre *If I remember it right* :lovestruc

Behind the scene
:help:
http://i56.tinypic.com/2mhy43s.jpg
Davin was supposed to go 1st then Danny, but a few hours before show Danny show up and begged a switch with Davin because he didn't want to see any colourful lights and bright make up I'm gonna wear :wtf: The first time I see our assignment I think Danny's description is just an overreaction, but now I see how he beg Davin :wtf: At first, Davin didn't want to switch with Danny, but Davin is a very very generous guy, it's rare nowadays :heyhey:

Oh wow, lots of updates today. As you already know there're two more dropouts: KieraLou and Picass0blue. Sorry to hear that you guys have to leave :( ...well technically Picass0blue can't participate in this round but says she might be able to participate in the last round. I don't think there's a rule against this but it would mean that she'd only be participating for fun since there'd be no way of catching up if you miss a round.

:alarm: :alarm: :alarm: By request round 3 has been extended by 24 hours as per this countdown timer (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?msg=Round+3+with+Extension&month=07&day=11&year=2011&hour=21&min=00&sec=&p0=127) :alarm: :alarm: :alarm:

I'm in the process of adding everyone's entries, they're looking great guys :)

I am going to be a Diva and ask - what rules did I not follow?
Just to clarify the situation, I said under photoshopping rules that mosaics were allowed and added: be sure that the effect is beneficial to your entry (ie a judge may deduct points if he/she thinks your entry is overcrowded for the sake of having lots of pics etc).

I have confirmed with the judge that you were not penalised for simply doing a mosaic but the points were deducted because the judge felt your mosaic lacked focus and therefore was not beneficial to your entry. It was maybe an oversight on my part to include that sentence under the rules heading, It would have been better under creativity but it's done now. The judge said they are more than happy to give full points back to you for the rules section but would still deduct the points from another section since they felt the lack of focus detracted from your entry as a whole. In the grand scheme of things, however, this wouldn't alter your score for round 2. I'm sorry I fluffed up the instructions again, and sorry for any upset caused. You live and learn

#1. Mary Cho: "Let's Dance!"
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad108/xesszackly/Mary-Cho_fall11-1.jpg
"Put on your red shoes and dance the blues..."
Mary was going for a sort-of alien Bowie-style underwater ballet theme to showcase this season’s attire, to compete with contemporary Davin Laarson, and I think it halfway hit the mark. She's been trying to bring garish leotards into everyday fashion. I had some good fun being Bowied over for the catwalk, but I would have rathered not being painted up like a Smurf/Avatar thing.

#2. Danny Bishop: "The Hardly Davidsons"
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad108/xesszackly/danny-bishop_hardly-davidsons-1.jpg
Danny wanted to show off his new line of "minimalist" biker gear - I secretly think that if anyone actually dared wear his creations on a motorbike, they would end up looking like mythical beasts only Danny could love. He let me have the fairly modest bondage-style outfit because it was my first time on the catwalk today. Having seen the other models, I am grateful. It is just a pity that we couldn’t quite scrape off all the Smurf emulsion!

Backstage:
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad108/xesszackly/Screenshot-1395-1.jpg
Pictured: Danny Bishop, my co-model Ally Waugh, myself, Mary Cho.
There was an altercation between Mary and Danny over who was supposed to lead the show. Mary had been happy to let Danny go first, thinking that his aversion to bright lights and colours had to do with his epilepsy - but it became apparent that Danny is a vampire! With a swift turn of heart, she had nearly finished painting me by the time he knew what was what. So Danny’s designs went second, and he had to put up with the (oops!) slightly indelible blue Mary had used. That, coupled with how Mary refused to stop calling his clothing line "Do It Like A Biker" to the tune of Jessie J, made Danny pretty irate by the end of the night, but I'll give him this - he exercises valiant self restraint on the job. Anyway, he cheered up once he realised that the Smurf emulsion had a sort-of undead effect on our skin.

Round 4 Closes 18 Jul 11@9pm (PDT) (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?msg=Round+4+&month=07&day=18&year=2011&hour=21&min=&sec=&p0=127 )

Roxor Models: I don’t believe it! Some of the hottest young designers in Sim City had their scouts checking out the student fashion show for fresh talent. It seems you impressed: three of the designers have requested you specifically to showcase their collection for this season. Your face is gonna be on every fashion magazine and billboard in the country!

Task: Each designer plans to do two separate shoots portraying two separate themes/ranges but due to scheduling conflicts you can only manage two shoots altogether, so here are the details to help you decide which you’ll do:

~ ~ ~

Designer/Shop – Roman B ~ Bridal Couture
1. Design Type: Haute Couture: Ever heard the saying, “you don’t alter Roman to fit you, you alter yourself to fit Roman”? This guy is the best of the best in bridal wear which is just as well given his hefty price tag!
2. Collections to be shown: Formal/Bridal Wear (may include bridal party wear but should look wedding-y)
3. Themes for Shoot: Diamonds are a girl’s best friend or Country Chic (choose one)

Designer/Shop - Idol Fashion
1. Design Type: High Street/Shop Window Fashion: ‘Idol fashion’ have stores in over 200 cities worldwide. They are ranked number 1 in affordable fashion for everyday people. They have a range to suit everyone including tall, petite, sportswear, party dresses, even maternity. For these shoots you only need to focus on two ranges though can add more if you want.
2. Collections to be shown: Every day, formal or sports/swim wear
3. Theme for Shoot: Winter Wonderland or Pump it up: Idol fitness Range (choose one)

Designer/Shop - Kissy Chicks
1. Design Type: High Street Lingerie: ‘Kissy Chicks’ is the brand that helped revolutionize society’s attitude towards sex. It’s no longer a taboo subject only for men to discuss and enjoy like it had been in decades past: women everywhere are reveling in their new found sexual freedom. Kissy Chicks love to celebrate this in their ad campaigns.
2. Collections to be shown: Lingerie/bed wear
3. Theme for Shoot: Grrrr, meow: Jungle Fever! or Naughty and Nice (choose one)
No Nudity! See note below

~ ~ ~

There are six possible shoots altogether. You may chose only two but they can be any combination (doesn’t have to be two from the same designer/shop though it can be if you like).

Requirements:
1. 2x full body images.
2. 1x short paragraph describing how the shoot went and/or your theme/outfit choices.
3. Title all images (does not have to be on the image). E.g. “Roman B – Country Chic”
4. For this round you may apply any photoshopping technique you like with only one exception: you are still not allowed to edit the sim (other than levels/tonal changes applied to the image etc) and must have an in-game background. This means you can add a bunch of sparkles or text or swirly lines or soften the image – whatever you want…but you cannot draw earrings on your sim or swap the background with a RL pic of your back garden etc. Though these techniques are allowed they are still subject to the usual rule of “if it detracts from the overall image the judges may or may not choose to subtract points” however, to minimize confusion this time around I ask that judges subtract any points they feel necessary from the more appropriate section: Creativity. Judges may still subtract points from the Rules section if an entry is found to have a modified sim or photoshopped background which is contrary to the rules above.
5. Please remember no nudity on this forum. The rules specify that you must have as much covered as a bikini would cover.
6. All three labels understand the importance of advertising and are willing to throw money at their ad campaigns so no need to worry about budgets for the shoots.

Judging Parameters:
Pose
Creativity
Interpretation and Portrayal of theme
Rule adherence

Idol Fashion - Winter Wonderland
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-9zyUjFzGxQc/ThxH_v1qz2I/AAAAAAAABs0/tabtuZPp5Lo/s800/Screenshot-2322.jpg

They wanted to do everything right so, instead of melting in Harmony Island with some fake, but equally good, snow, we went to north to shoot in real snow. I thought I'd hate it, since I'm more of a swimsuit girl, but no; I actually really enjoyed being away from all the havoc of a metropolis.

Kissy Chicks - Jungle Fever

Ltl + anyone else who's worried, a couple of people have mentioned their lack of photoshopping skills to me since I posted R4 :/ I'd assumed more people wanted to use it given the questions I'd had in the past. The way I see it is that you can't be penalised for not using it, the same way I've treated text on images so far. Though a judge may add points if they feel your photoshopping touches really added to the overall image but by the same token, you may be penalised for using it badly eg if a judge thinks you over-softened an image to the point where it's just unneccessarily blurry. So if you give a non or minimally photoshopped image you will be judged on that alone and not judged for not adding more photoshopping.

ngluvjj There are winter themed worlds out there as well as snow terrain paints and snow capped trees. You can also get a snow effect from the fog emitter....just don'r ask me where to find them, lol.

ETA: Or just do what they said ^^ lol

Well, I'm not so much concerned with judges deducting points as much as I just generally hate sucking at stuff (I lose interest), yet I'm not really interested in photoshop enough to even bother learning tricks. But I like Sims 3 and I'm good at it, both gameplay and keeping it realistic... even though I'm a huge SF fan I prefer realism to Sims more than SF. And I like this contest and any sim oriented contests and honestly... I'm a bit sad it's already 4th round =(

Round 4 - Lily Cho!

Designer: Idol Fashion
Theme: Winter Wonderland
This shoot was interesting, needless to say. Even though in my hometown it's summertime, Idol Fashion was doing pictures for their winter line already! It was interesting how they fabricated the snow. It wasn't actually cold, but it looks pretty convincing. They did have a snow machine to make the snow fly in the air, but the snow melted quickly once it landed anywhere. The photographer was really nice, and the crew was playful with the snow. I was happy to see the outfit they had me in was trendy and chic, but also very cozy. Once the outfit was all together, I have to say, I wanted to take everything home; I looked so cute. Overall, I think I would love to work with Idol Fashion again.

(I'd reeeeaaallly like to thank morph for sharing opinions while I was making this picture :))

Designer 2: Kissy Chicks
Theme: Grr, meow: Jungle Fever
This shoot was possibly THE most fun I've had in a while. The art director flew me out to a desert. She told me that I would be a fierce lioness, and The King of the Jungle lives in the desert, so for the theme, I thought that was perfect. It was so hot there though! Luckily there was an air conditioned trailer for the wardrobe department. I just loved the animal print lingerie and the wig with cat ears in it. After I was ready they got me up in this tree, and told me to just be confident and act like I was a lusty lioness waiting for her king to come home with her. The crew was so caring and they really helped me let go of myself for this shot. I actually staring at one of the crew members who was acting like a monkey, luckily the photographer got this shot before I laughed. Haha

Kissy Chicks - Naughty and Nice

http://i51.tinypic.com/2agn32h.jpg

This shoot was so much fun! At first I was a little nervous about wearing lingerie in front of the camera, but I forgot all about it once I found out I would be dressing up as both a succubus and an angel; naughty and nice. Personally, I think I lean more towards the naughty side myself, but it was really interesting and challenging trying to portray an alluring yet innocent angel.

Roman B: Bridal Fashions - Diamond's Are a Girl's Best Friend

http://i51.tinypic.com/2u6i3xs.jpg

What girl doesn't fantasize about her dream wedding gown? I was in absolute heaven working with Roman B. He's so talented and once I got a look at his exquisite creations first hand, I knew exactly why they sell for top dollar. As if modelling bridal gowns wasn't fun enough, Roman teamed up with the folks at Harry Winston to provide us with some of the most amazing diamond jewelry.

missroxor

Just to clarify something: I've been asked about whether or not desert backgrounds contradict the theme of jungle fever. I've heard jungle being used to describe all terrains of Africa from the savannah to the actual jungle so I'm happy for a deserty type of background to be used though just desert + no trees or foilage whatsoever is pushing it a bit and may lose you points (nobody's done that so far though). As always though, I encourage creative/playful interpretations eg working from a "concrete jungle" angle is different but perfectly acceptable as long as the rest of it fits the theme. Hope this cleared it up for some of you who were wondering :)

Grr Meow: Jungle Fever [Kissy Chicks campaign]

There's only one thing to say about this shoot... a freaking TIGER! When they told me I had to model with a real tiger I nearly had kittens, but he really was a big pussy cat, I think I fell in love with the handsome devil.

ChloroformDreams
16th Jul 2011, 12:44 AM
Yeah, I was confused about country chic as well. For me, it brought to mind western/country type clothing, which I didn't think mixed well with bridal wear. I'm sure it's probably just a misinterpretation on my part though.

traelia
16th Jul 2011, 12:55 AM
I guess it could be taken as like Deep South of America (in case some of you aren't American). Like cowboy boots and hats, with the whites in the wedding dress being more creme, and lots of dainty lace. Like Old Western Films, or like The Sound Of Music but modernized. That's my take on it. Haha.

I guess 'country' can mean different things depending on where your from but Trae explained it pretty close to how I imagine it...minus the cowboy boots, lol (though by all means, pair cowboy boots with your sim'ss wedding dress if you can pull it off ;) )

As always, I encourage creativity so there's room for artisitic interpretation here but in my mind a country chic wedding would be reasonably informal (without losing too much elegance) and relaxed with lots of open skies and flowers. I imagine it to be quite a romantic theme with soft colour schemes perhaps borrowed from nature with lots of delicate details in the decor. Pretty, easy flowing fabrics and delicate materials like lace and maybe silk would be used with maybe the odd ruffle and loosly structured cuts which give an overall feel of simple, pretty and romantic....does that make sense? Thing's I would consider to be contradictory to the theme is: sharp, modern cuts/overly structured designs; too much "bling"; overly bold or dark colour schemes; minimalist style and formailty.

I hope that helps. I've tried to find some examples. You don't have to copy these or mark off everything I've listed above...they're just suggestions really. If this doesn't clear it up let me know and I'll try again, lol.

PS sometimes the style I'm referring to is known as 'rustic' or 'shabby chic'.

As for judging, the last of the judges got back to me last night but I've only now had the chance to sit down at the big computer and I had a complete malfunction last night where my spreadsheets seemed to have corrupted...I've just managed to open it now though and so far so good *crosses fingers* So sorry, but this time it's me holding up the show :( Will try to have the results for round 3 posted before I go to bed tonight (It's 2040 here now).

See...I told you. Contests do it every time. I have to install the new patch. I haven't done that because of the problems, but AwesomeMod expired. So I might as well install Generations, which I've been sitting on.... AND going to the inlaws this weekend. So taking my pc with me 2 1/2 hours away so I can get this done. :report:

While we’re on the topic of scores and judging there will be a slightly different judging line-up next week. Either myself or Heaven will take the place of Sandymdh who has done a great job of judging these last three weeks but has some RL stuff to attend to next week.

Astraea Nevermore
1 – Your photo shoots fit the themes well. I don't have much against your photos, and it looks like you tried your best. Good job, Astraea.

2 – I have been staring at that first pic for about 10 minutes and cannot work out if I like his outfit or not! Don’t worry the outfits definitely contributed to your creativity score (in a good way) and he does look fab in drag. I prefer the Danny Bishop pic – more for the blurry/misty guitar, rose petals and other props which are very subtle and totally avoid looking ‘staged’. Love the fonts used for the names and the general presentation. Points-wise the poses maybe let it down a tiny bit as lacked that ‘wow factor’ (though I do love the one in the ‘behind the scenes’ shot – it’s good to see his sense of humour).

EJ - Would liked to have maybe seen more colour in your Mary Cho entry though you did incorporate it well in the set design. Despite the lack of colour in Jorn's outfit you still managed to create a look that is far from mainstream and really transforms Jorn showing his versatility. My first impression of the background was "why are there random statues and Egyptian pillars there?" but it occurred to me that these were probably a nod to the 'theatrical' aspect of the theme. I think maybe this part could have been more coherent so it was a little more obvious that it was representative of a stage set. Wow, you really nailed Danny Bishop's style. I love that outfit and your set, props, lighting and effects really work well together. It's quite a creepy image...in a good way. The poses you used in all 3 images were well chosen and I liked the funny little story behind the backstage image.

Picass0blue
1 – Your first photograph was very creative, however the pose chosen was a bit odd. I can see how the legs fit the ballet thing, but the arms look kind of... unfitting? But I suppose it does add to the uniqueness of the photo shoot. The second photo shoot was also very creative; who would have thought of a photo shoot for biker gear? I really liked how dangerous it looked, although your model's face is a bit odd, I do like the picture overall.

2 – Like the Bowie-esque idea. I like the water effect in the background – but there’s too many themes being addressed in this scene. I can see the water and retro-futuristic Bowie theme working but the wooden wedding arch just seems completely out of place. 2nd pic – I guess it came down to time but obviously the background is lacking. I like the outfits though and the ideas behind them even if not finished off completely. The first and 3rd pics could have done with a bit better lighting on the models too.

EJ - I feel like your Mary Cho image was a little unfocused. There was too many themes competing, not to mention that the alien theme was more appropriate for Davin Laarson. You did mention that she was competing with him in your back story but she has her own style already, and I feel like you've incorporated some of his style into hers. I like your biker take on Danny Bishop's style, a very creative idea and your props reiterate that but I would have liked to have seen more of it: the unpainted wall and plain floor backdrop do nothing for me or your image. I like the set up of your back stage image and the story but you should have some lighting in there. Especially since you're showing make-up being applied, you'd have to be crazy to apply make-up in the dark ;)

Ngluvjj
1 – Your first picture did give a sense of horror but at the same time sexiness. A job well done! The second one was also impressive and futuristic. Good job, I don't have much else to say.

2 – 1st image is utterly stunning. Fantastic idea. Wow. I love it. Absolutely no faults. 2nd image totally represents the designer. Pose is Ok. I’d have probably replaced the wood-grain arch texture with a plastic or metallic one to keep the futuristic theme. Great behind the scenes image – I can just imagine the scene! You have improved so much this contest – keep it up!

EJ - Wow, I love your Danny Bishop shot, what an original idea to vamp up bed time stories. Your set, props, effects and lighting are spot on! My only negative would be that the pose seems a little off...I'm not sure why. I think maybe it's that her expression looks a little scared which doesn't really tie in with all grown-up, sexy vampire...it's more like story book little red riding hood. Fantastic outfit/hair/makeup choice for your Davin Laarson. I feel like the background is a bit distracting: there are lots of little bits and bobs there that are too far away make out but I find myself drawn to them to see what they are. Love the effects and lighting though. Your backstage image made me lol. I like that you played on Danny's revulsion to things that don't fit in his dark little world. Lyla looks appropriately weirded out and scared, lol.

Sisaly
1 – The first picture was *amazing!* It was very beautiful. Your second picture was great, too, but the pose was a bit fake-looking. The picture's great, anyway. Good job.

2 – Loving the costume in Mary Cho’s show. Very striking. Pose suits and love the font used. Quite a simple background but effective nonetheless. Glad there is a background focus other than flowers to the 2nd image –it breaks it up nicely. Pose is a little lacklustre but still a fab pic. Nice ‘behind the scenes’ shot. They do look like they’re relaxing – no negatives here.

EJ - I love your take on theatrical, makes me think of Chinese opera (not that I've ever seen opera). Your outfit and pose are spot on though I feel like your set design is a little lack-lustre. Not so much the props but the actuall wall and ceiling just don't seem to fit the theme imo. I think I would have liked to have seen some variation in the colour scheme, may Love your text and the fact that it's written vertically too, nice attention to detail there. Your set design for the naturalistic theme is more like it. Every inch of it fits. I don't really have anything negative to say about this one, except that maybe a pose that doesn't look so stationary may have been more appropriate given that it's supposed to be a catwalk. Good job fitting in the tie-dye ;)

Lady Awesome/Kaylarox
1 - Your first photo was very pretty and did look mainstream. I loved it; the pose was great, too. Well done! The second one, however, seems to suit Danny Bishop's alternative better. This looks more dark and alternative than theatrical, so I feel like you should have chosen Danny Bishop. I liked the photo anyway, though. It was very creative. :)

2 – Brave choice to pick ‘mainstream’. Your model looks absolutely stunning in this pic. I like the unusual combination of the folk style trees and the classical statues – it isn’t too themed which adds focus to your model. Suitable pose. Go theatrical! I love the cage concept, the pose, the costumes and make-up – no negatives here. Behind the scenes shot is OK but could have done with more going on in it. Maybe would be funnier her sleeping while lots of things were going on around her?

EJ - good on you for going for mainstream. I love your outfit choice, which fits the theme perfectly, and that pose are spot on. It's very 'professional catwalk' and Luana looks smokin hot pulling that expression. I love the actual catwalk and the attention to detail with the spectators but the background seems a little unfocused like some decor items were placed for the sake of filling space rather than to create a look. I love your dramatic poses for Mary Cho and the set looks like it might be the set of a stage performance, there’s a lot of drama there. Good choice of outfits too though I feel a bit disappointed that the other models were largely obscured, I wanted to see their outfits too, though it's does help make Luana the focus of the image. I'm aware that time was an issue for you but I feel like your backstage image let your entry down. Your first two images are strong contenders but the backstage one lacks creativity.

Nhayes17
1 - The first picture was *amazing!* It was very beautiful. Your second picture was great, too, but the pose was a bit fake-looking. The picture's great, anyway. Good job.

2 – Excellent choice of poses in the 2 main shots. I think the dawn/background sky just looks amazing in the first. Second pic has some great props. Not keen on the full length skeleton, I don’t know why. I think I’d prefer him further to the left or even back a bit and lit for effect – more like the snake/serpent on the other side. A very minor thing though as it’s still an excellent image. Love the backstage image – she actually looks uncomfortable!

EJ - I love your first shot, it fits the theme so well and your composition is really nice. For Danny Bishop you created a theme within a theme and it worked beautifully. I like that you didn't shy away from colour but still managed to stay within Danny's style. Great use of props too. Nice backstage set design. I only have one minor gripe with this image and it's that you seem to have used a lot of default CASTs which is a pet hate of mine ...but I'm not scoring so it doesn't make a difference ;) I love your background stories, humorous as always.

Shadow_Girl 89
1 - Your first picture was futuristic looking, but I think there was a little too much color. I know that pink and blue were the main colors, but the flames in the bottom left corner count as color, too. Overall, both your photographs were very fitting. Nice job.

2 – the only pose I REALLY like is the dancing one in the behind the scenes pic. The others are perfectly OK – typical model poses – I just don’t feel that they add much to the theme. The costumes are both stunning and you have obviously considered the likes/dislikes when designing them and the backgrounds. I’d have liked to have seen some texture to the floor in the space image - perhaps a crater/rocks if set outside or metallic texture for inside a ship but that’s only a minor issue. The 2nd image looks pretty psychedelic – personally I hate the clashing colours etc but as it totally represents the designer’s personality it’s an excellent pic. Like the dancing scene and I’ve given you an extra random point for getting the rubber duck swim-ring to look normal in a fashion show lol.

EJ - Your outfit/makeup etc and background fit the theme really well but I feel like it's very dark. Your space scene in the background is easy to miss because of that. Woah, you really captured Mary Cho's style but I think there's maybe a bit too much going on here. With all the background patterns and 4 different types of effects flying in front of the camera it's hard to focus on Elizabeth. She does look great though :) What a fun backstage pic but it could do with more lighting.

Traelia
1 - Your first photo was gorgeous, although the lights in the background were a little too much color. Overall, it was great. Your second photo was very awesome, although I don't think the pose really fits the theme.

2 – The first pic completely has the Wow Factor. The costume is amazing, there is an utter lack of props compared to many other efforts this round but the staging of the lasers more than makes up for that. Fantastic pose – absolutely LOVE IT! The second pic could maybe have had more background effects/ props. Not keen on the globe –thingys as seem a bit more steam-punk than vampiric. Lily looks stunning though, as ever. It will be such a crime if you don’t upload her after the contest! Love the behind the scenes pic – love the way the 2 models are keeping calm and ignoring the drama queen of a designer they’re working with! Fantastic effort this round.

EJ - I love the first pic. You really nailed the theme! My only complaint which is minor is that I can't help but feel the shot is taken from an awkward angle: like it's too high. Maybe that's just my personal preference. I love your outfit choice and set for Danny Bishop though I'm not too sure about the globes...I don't get what they're for/how the fit the theme. Overall it was a great entry and it never ceases to amaze me how different Lily looks in each theme, she has incredible versatility.

Laughingtoleave
1 – Both your poses were very fitting and the settings were very nice, and your model was the spotlight. The dress used for the nature one was sweet and all, but I don't think it was the best choice for the theme. Overall, great job, I love your shoots.

2 – Love the idea of a dual show – they are such extremes that I’m not sure if it really worked for me. That’s more of a personal opinion so I have still reflected the attention to detail and great backgrounds in your score anyway. I don’t know about arguing backstage – I think a lot of designers wouldn’t have been able to cope with sharing the stage with all they like and dislike too! Totally apt outfits chosen. First pose is fairly suitable, the second is perfect! I like the 2 designers poses in the ‘behind the scenes’ pic - I would personally have preferred to see them maybe at a different angle to give more focus to them in the shot.

EJ - To be honest, I pretty much agree with most of what judge two said except I really liked the complete clash of themes. I agree about the angles too, both are taken from a similar position. Since you used the exact same set in both pics you should’ve tried to put a different angle on each for originality. I love the poses you used in your behind the scenes shot too.

Aliyssaya
1 - What's that behind your model in the first pic? Are those two hippos? (Lol I can barely tell.) Anyway, your model looked very happy and gorgeous in the first picture, everything looked real. Great job! Your outfit for the second picture was very gorgeous and your pose was really awesome, I loved it! However, I think the overall picture fit Danny Bishop better, not Mary Cho.

2 – The first image is probably my least favourite as there is too much going on in it – too many props for the model to compete with to remain the focus of the image. I’m personally not keen on the hairstyle either as it means you can’t see some of the dress (the straps area). BUT it is a good picture which has taken the designers preferences into account and the dress is very pretty. Love the second picture – it’s very striking with a great costume choice and background setting. No negatives here. Nice ‘behind the scenes’ shot -was amusing to see the ‘dark angel’ trying to work the coffee machine!

EJ - I love that everything from the set to your logo and the models outfit in your first pic looks really happy and sunny; it's definitely a good mood pic :) I'm not too sure about the hippos and the fact that one of them seems to be eating her! I think the composition could've been better. There’s some image stretching where you've gone close then zoomed out too much which could have been prevented with a little prior planning. What a fun outfit for pic 2. I like your composition too. It does seem a little dark and gothic but it reminds me of the black swan from swan lake (thanks Natalie Portman helping me to sound cultural  ) so I'm happy that it still fits into the category of theatrical rather than Danny's Alternative theme.

ChloroformDreams
1 - I really liked your first picture; it looked very natural and inspiring. Your pose really fit and your outfit was interesting but a good choice. The second was kind of scary but that's the whole point! Great job.

2 – 1st pic – has a pretty background, Spanish-looking which fits with the outfit and also the pose. 2nd pic suits the purpose and the props all add to the atmosphere. Not so keen on the pose used – could have been more interesting. Love the ‘outtake’ image of the model being pranked – very funny!

EJ - I love how serene your first pic looks. The lighting/shading is beautiful and your set design is very pretty. You did a great job of capturing both styles actually. Your set for Danny Bishop is spot on, great use of props and effects (I must have those cob webs!!) and nice attention to detail. The only thing that irked me about your pics was the spare model in your backstage shot. Maybe you were going for the whole stereotypical dumb model but she looks like she doesn't get the joke. I would've had her laughing and pointing too or just cut her out the image.

sorry I took longer than I said I was going to with the scores. I got distracted then it got to the point where I was too tired to concentrate and give my full effort and attention so I decided it was best to sleep then come back at it in the morning.

See...I told you. Contests do it every time. I have to install the new patch. I haven't done that because of the problems, but AwesomeMod expired. IKR?! *kicks computer* lol, your taking your whole pc? That's dedication for ya :p

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton just got married; they had what I would call a country chic wedding (in my opinion) which follows what missroxor is talking about. Aww, what a lovely wedding...I [i]love[/] that brooch bouquet, wish I coulda had that at my wedding instead of bloody flowers! Though if my groom turned up in blue jeans the wedding would be off  I made my husband wear a kilt even though he's not Scottish! (I am though so it's ok, lol)

Guys, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, lay off. She has two days left. Who are we to judge if the things she's attending to IRL are taking precedence right now? Very well said though I think they were only ribbing her :p I understand how RL can get in the way and sometimes when you've got a lot going on something like this takes a back seat (it's all nonsense at the end of the day: fun and competative but still nonsense, lol) but that's why we allow extensions :) For the sake of being fair to the other contestants I'd rather not go over 24 hours (The first round was an exception because of the down time) but don't be afraid to ask for one if you need one.
