View Full Version : Expanded Footprint not working properly

Using Echo's tutorial, I expanded the foot print on a decorative object so that it is three tiles wide instead of one. And I enabled it so that Sims can't walk through these two new tiles. It appears to be working in both of these respects as I can clearly see the new footprint and can't place other objects in these new spots ( haven't tested in live mode to check if Sims go through or not).

The issue is that I can place the object so that a wall is going through the footprint(and thus the object). Do I have to do something special to make the footprint act as a cohesive whole?

EDIT: Apparently it's an issue with how the footprint is rendered and thus is probably unfixable, or so I gather. Unless someone does know how to fix it, I'll just advise anyone who downloads the object of this minor flaw.

Naw, that's not normal. Any chance you could post your WIP and I'll take a look. There's probably a flag in the init somewhere specifying that it can go through walls.

Here it is Echo. If i knew what i was doing in the init, i could probably fix it myself, but this is the first time I've ever played in it. Once you look at it (and fix it if you want to) can you tell me what I'd need to do to fix it for future reference?

You've got some odd values in the "Default Wall Adjacent Flags" field of the OBJD. (Open the OBJD, click "RAW Data", scroll down until you find that line). I'd suggest copying values out of an object which behaves the way you want. :)

I completely didn't touch that field when editing, so the original object must be rather funky (its Maxis what do you expect?), but I will do what you suggest. Thanks Echo!

EDIT: I changed the values in the in the OBJD. I copied the values from the TV it's imitating but it still goes through the wall. Attached is a pic of it (and I just realized I need to edit the mesh so its centered) as well as the updated file
