I'm not sure where to post this but how do you fix the extreme brightness of white objects? Anything I make white is blindingly bright there a way to fix that?

Well, the easiest way is to not use such a bright white - don't use the lightest "white" setting in the colour picker, but a light grey instead. And avoid putting bright white objects under a bright light.
BTW, if you want a proper white, switch to the part of CASt where you can enter the numbers, and try putting in 230, 230, 230. The "white" presets are actually a bit blue.
