So, I can't get into EIG, I'm trying to work on it, but nothings helped so far. I've looked at the workaround from http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index....7484#entry17484
And that just confused me. Idk what the text does, I can't save it as a .cmd file. That file that I'm supposed to copy doesn't even exist on my pc.
And very helpful SimSample tutorial unfortunately help my situation.
I can't export my world to my game, so that doesn't help me either, I go to view>rebuild routing data, (like the provided tutorial from La Shawn, or Rain, downpour, or whatever.. says to) but nothing happens, so I can't make a name or picture or anything.
And if i go to export world I get cannot export world, the world file has no name, description, or thumbnail.
For the record, I have Ambitions and Late night, no other ep and no sp either.
I just wanna make houses and lots and crap, then play in my little town
I wanna cry... But I wont, men don't cry...
I just feel dumb and helpless and I feel like a pest.
please :help:

To add a name, description, and thumbnail, just right click on the first line in the World layers section, it will be something.world. The thumbnail will have to be a 24-bit PNG image, which you can make with Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP, or even regular Paint in Windows 7.
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2714/rightclicktoedit.jpg
When you rebuild your routing data, you won't really see anything happen--there's no pop-up to say that it has completed--unless you have "Show Routing Data" on, then you'll have to move the mouse/view a tad to make it show any changes. Armiel started a thread with some very good information on that here. (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=439329)
I probably can't help you with your EIG issues, but if you are getting a certain error, please tell us specifically what one.

It's frustrating that for every issue that arises with Caw, we in the Community have to find some way to jimmy-rig it. I didn't have to do the Generations work around, but let me read through the instructions for it. Some times I can rewrite tuts to make them easier to follow. I'll take a look.
Okay, I got it to work. It's cool you can have a little icon on your desktop that will take your world directly into EIG.
Copy and Paste this into notepad
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims(TM) 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" "-nosound" "-worldFile:C:\Users\SimAd\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds\Palm Island.world" "-editInGameMode:true" "-disableDumpCopy" "-speed:0" "-noObjMgrsFile:"
Edit the paths.

Check to make sure your sims stuff is in Origins Games, and not Electronic Arts
I don't know if everyone's is there now?

"Save As" .cmd (I just typed it in)

I saved mine to the Desktop, and it looks like this. You can now just click on it, and EIG starts up.

I'm not sure if that makes any more sense than Simads. Let me know if you need any further clarification.

Not quite sure if this is relevant or useful here but it came to mind as I used this recently. In the case where you need a set of dir/files to 'appear' to be elsewhere you could use a <JUNCTION>. I did this with S3 as I wanted to keep it all on a drive other than C: including the preferences that normally go in the documents area. It really is completely transparent to the program and to the system. In fact you can't tell in explorer only in dos where it shows up as <JUNCTION> instead of <DIR>. Works for me!

Thanks auntielynds, that does clarify a bit more, but I don't have a program file (x86) on my comp. Just Program files.. Is it possibly because I'm sill in the stone age on windows XP?

Also, idk if this effects anything, but I have the base of my game saved on an external hard drive, so like, when I install the sims, its not on C: but on F:.. but the rest of my game info.. saves, mods, etc. is on my C: drive.
Like I said. just an fyi, idk if it effects anything at all. the games just too big to bombard my C: drive with.

Yes, you will only have the x86 program files if you are on a 64 bit operating system, so if you are on 32bit Win XP you will only have Program Files.

Yes, you need to adjust the paths in that command file to match the locations on your hard drive. So, if you have your sims game installed to F:\ Games, you would put that in instead of C:\ Program Files.

Is there a different file for XP users?

if space on C: is short I would suggest the <JUNCTION> thing. Its the same issue here... small C: drive and using XP on that comp.

If you mean the file Auntielynds was talking about then I don't think it would help even if there was, as you have to edit it to suit your particular setup and the world name you are using.

Sandrine, I'm not sure this would really help here, it seems to be a problem with the current compilation of CAW and so will hopefully be fixed soon. So making a junction to do the same (if that is what you are suggesting) would probably only be of use until the next game update. Or am I misunderstanding you?

Sorry to cloud the issue with my periphery, you are right.
I just mentioned it here because Matty had said his C: drive was getting overful.
Ordinarily it wouldn't have occurred to raise the point here except that I'm in the same position with the desktop here and running XP same as him.

Ah, I see now what you were getting at! :)
I thought you were indicating that the junction point might make a difference to the CAW problem, but you were suggesting it to solve the hard drive volume problem. My brain is slow today!
If Matty_Dimm is interested in that, here's some more info-

I've tried to apply the fix that I found on the website above to fix the Edit in Game not working without Generations EP glitch, but I'm having trouble getting it to work. I have a Windows XP computer with TS3 World Adventures and Ambitions installed. The closest I've gotten is to put the following in a .cmd file that when double-clicked opens up the TS3 launcher and regular game mode.
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" "-nosound" "-worldFile:C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds\Tropical Island.world" "-editInGameMode:true" "-disableDumpCopy" "-speed:0" "-noObjMgrsFile:"pause
And noticing that I had .world files in another file too, I tried the following to the same result.
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" "-nosound" "-worldFile:C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds\Tropical Island.world" "-editInGameMode:true" "-disableDumpCopy" "-speed:0" "-noObjMgrsFile:"pause
Can anyone help me? With computer writing like this I know it can be a tiny difference that is causing the whole problem. I also had the "absence of Town Life stuff pack glitch and used the solution on http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=450303 so now I can open CAW, but not EIG. Is the solution on the previous thread complicating this solution?

Do you have the Digital Downloads, or the Game Disks?
I'm on Windows 7, so I'm sure the file path for XP is different.
This is Simads Command prompt:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims(TM) 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" "-nosound" "-worldFile:C:\Users\SimAd\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds\Palm Island.world" "-editInGameMode:true" "-disableDumpCopy" "-speed:0" "-noObjMgrsFile:"
and your Command prompt you posted:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" "-nosound" "-worldFile:C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds\Tropical Island.world" "-editInGameMode:true" "-disableDumpCopy" "-speed:0" "-noObjMgrsFile:"pause

I have the game discs. If I find the TS3W.exe file that he specifies and right click it and click properties, the following is listed under location:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
And if I do the same thing to the .world file that I want to open in EIG. which is named Tropical Island.world, this is what I get:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create a World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds

Your .world file should be in documents, not program files.

You could try my file at: http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=3622222
You don't need to edit any thing and it should now work on 32bit and 64bit.
You just extract it then drag and drop your world on top of it.

Just tried it out, and it works wonderful!
Just drag and drop your .world file onto it, and it opens up EIG. So, much easier than messing with file destinations. Especially for people who are intimidated to fiddle with stuff like this.
