Hi! I'm new here but have read many threads from here that helped me in my quest to build my perfect world. Thanks to all!

However, I have a problem I found not mentioned here yet:

I place my lots in CAW and build the houses in EIG. Recently, I exported my world to check if everything is running smoothly so far, and I noticed that all of the effects I placed on lots with fog emitters are not showing up correctly. F.e. a waterfall or fishes I placed are all showing up as fog. When I go into build mode on these lots in game and I click on the fog emitters, the code is still there correctly and they reset to the proper effect immediately, but only after I clicked them each.

Since I plan to upload my world, this is no useful workaround, since I can't aks all the people who will download it to go through the lots and click on the fog emitters...

So, can anyone help me understand what went wrong there and how I can avoid it?

The emitter effect's kick in once a game is saved otherwise it will show fog untill. Save your exported world then check the emitters :)
If your planning on uploading it'll be a good idea to let downloader's know they'll have to save to get all effect's working too.
I don't know why it does that but I've yet to find a world where the emitter's work straight off

I agree with missy harries, it does seem to be a quirk of CAW- I always have to reload my games first time I start a new custom world, too.

Thank you very much!

Does this also work for other things that won't behave? I noticed that all spiral staircases are not usable...

I saw somewhere the more expensive stairs do not work correctly, but the less expensive ones are fine. I also thought the TL patch was supposed to fix it, who knows. I did just build a house with the cheaper ones, and it tested good.

oh, okay. I haven't installed the TL patch yet, had no time to do the CAW de-/reinstallation dance lately. Will test again as soon as I have updated.

Thanks!
