View Full Version : Changing my object's pattern to solid? Making it non-recolorable? [Solved]

I'm so close to finishing my object, but it's pattern is all wrong. I want to change the pattern to solidColor_1 instead of whatever it has already but when I looked at cmomoney's tutorial I don't understand it at all :/
Also, after changing the pattern I want my object to be non recolorable but I don't know how to do this.

Can anyone please help me? Thanks!

To make it non-recolourable, just change the recolour mask to all black rather than having red, green or blue areas, and/or make your item's texture an overlay rather than a recolourable texture.

Changing the default preset pattern to solid colour is tricky and a real pain. I needed to do that for one of my recent creations and I did have to use cmomoney's tutorial and it was hard to figure out, but I got there in the end - see my final post in this thread for how I did it: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=3524032#post3524032

However: Inge Jones is working on a tool that makes changing the preset patterns fantastically easy - takes seconds rather than hours! It's still in beta stage, but I tried it on an object I'm currently working on and the object was fine in-game, didn't cause any crashes or any other problems, and checked out OK with Delphy's Dashboard, so it's well worth trying out: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=453715&goto=lastpost

Hope any of the above helps - have to go to bed now but if you have any questions someone else in a non-bedtime timezone may be able to help further!

I've been using the new tool too and shared things made with it already with no problems. Although it's very easy to use I wrote a tutorial on it to get people started if anyone needs one...it's linked in the tool thread. For anyone needing to change default patterns using this tool is the way to go...definitely worth the few minutes it takes to download and learn. It also manages all the .dds images involved in object meshing which is a nice bonus. :)

Yeah, I'm using the tool in the tutorial I'm working on now. The tutorial on changing default patterns I wrote is soon to be depreciated, and that's a good thing. :bunny:
