I recently had to get a new hard drive on my computer and once everything was fixed up and running I loaded all my sims 2 EP's and SP's back. However, when I tried to play the game it would stop responding when I tried to change their clothing or hair styles or while trying the create a sim. Even the body shop stops responding! I have cleared out all custom content and uninstalled each EP and SP to see if that was causing the issue and it wasn't. I keep getting Expansion Pack _ has stopped responding. Which is why took all of them off and now I just have double deluxe and its still stops responding...I don't know what else to do!
Thanks for any help/guidence!

Those specs are woefully inadequate for Sims 2. You need four times the RAM, and a vastly better video card.

Darby is right - your computer really isn't strong enough to be running TS2 with all of those EPs. That said, you may still find some improvement by going through our Game Help:Game Problem FAQ (removing CC is indeed part of it, but there are also other things to try).
Also try the suggestions here: Game Help:Onboard Graphics.

Thank you for responding. :( I'm just frustrated because everything ran fine and dandy before I had to get the new hard drive...As I am woefully ignorant about computers...where do you see how much RAM I have on my computer? I'll just have to put more on, but I need to know how much more...

That translates to a little over 1GB of RAM. You need about 4GB of RAM. If the version of Vista you're running is 32-bit, the system won't recognize more than about 3.5GB of RAM, but RAM likes to be installed in pairs, so 4 1GB sticks or 2 2GB sticks will be what you're looking at.
Adding RAM will help, but you also need a better graphics card.
I hope someone will assess your processor, too, because I can't tell much about it. If IT is also inadequate, you'll need to consider a new computer altogether, at some point. But more RAM and better graphics will still help a lot, if that's all you can manage.

Check out the website 'Can You Run It' : http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/
You can choose the game you want to run (start with the base game and go from there) and it'll scan your system, tell you if your computer can handle it and if not, why not.

Agreed - it's the RAM and graphics that is really the problem. The processor's not amazing either but RAM and graphics matter more to TS2 performance. But as it's mobile graphics, I'm guessing this is a laptop, and graphics cannot be upgraded. RAM probably can be, which will help some with the graphics, but one really shouldn't play EPs on integrated graphics past OfB and even then, you should keep your sim/object detail, texture detail, and resolution low.

Thank you all for your help! I'm going to get started on figuring out what's up with my laptop. I think i'm going through Sims 2 withdrawl  lol
