Hello, this is my first ever thread or post and I wanted to discuss slides with you because I am curious if anybody's got more info about it or ideas or just anything I don't know/can't think of.

I noticed that we only have two sizes for dogs and of course I was immediately disappointed because once again I am not able to create realistic Dachshunds, Bassets, Pekingese or any other short legged breed (Corgi etc). I know height sliders are not possible and won't ever be released (I was kind of hoping for leg sliders to increase/decrease height) but at least I think it would be amazing to get medium sized dogs if not what I really hope for which is tiny/toy, small, medium, large, huge/giant.

If we were to have these sizes we could make true Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds (ones who are as close to reality as possible) and toy breeds like Maltese for example which is missing from the breed list. I also think it would be awesome to have muscle mass sliders for breeds like the Pitbull or AmStaff etc and fatness sliders so we can make breeds like Bulldogs more realistic (they're bulkier then other breeds so a fat slider and a muscle one would we a great option). Alongside these I think that a body length and width would be cool, this way we could select 'create a dog' and just select tiny/toy breed and create a Dachshund like that, as a very short dog but with body length sliders to make it longer so that it looks more lake a Dachsie. It could work. A width slider would again help with Bulldogs or Mastiff type dogs in general.

I guess a 'skin' slider would be too much to hope for, breeds like Basset, Bulldog, Sharpei have loads of extra skin which to me is adorable. Unfortunately in Sims we can't make any of these breeds look similar to reality because we don't have a 'skin' slider to make the dogs have more skin. Maybe it's complicated, to be honest I have no idea but if we'd get this as well it would just be Heaven in pets, even without heigh sliders we could at least have more options to emulate breeds we love in real life.

That being said, do you think we'll get any of these sliders as added content in other expansion packs? We didn't get the many sliders we now have for Sims with the base game, I am kind of hoping they'd give us more Pets sliders in the future, what do you think? Does anybody know if it would be possible and if not, does anybody think someone might make mods for these sliders to become real?

I forgot to add one thing, I am not very satisfied with the options for fur. I don't understand why when I move the slider more towards 'bichon' type it moves away from 'poodle' type etc. I would like to be able to move those sliders independently without any being dependant of another fur slider. Since I don't think they'll give us more fur options although I'd like to have a long coat Chihuahua for example but I can't make enough fur to appear on the ears hence no Papillion breed as well, do you think Mods are possible for this? Or maybe we'll get downloadable breeds from creators, that would be easy but I would love to be able to make the breeds myself :p

I think that's it, I know it's long and I am a bit worried, I've read the rules and whatever material I could find similar to rules/guidelines and I just hope I'm good with this post. It would be bad to get a ban on my first day here

I would love to have sliders like this but the only problem with the height ones that make legs shorter or longer is that it would mess up with animations... So things would look bad in the game..

Yeah, I know, I've already found out those are not possible, that's why I am hoping that we get at least two more sizes of dogs, which would be medium and toy if they won't include huge dogs. I am very happy with this expansion otherwise, I have yet to test out the smaller pets, I've read somewhere that those are very poorly made and that they don't have enough variety regarding interaction/animation or something like that. I've yet to find out :)

Yeah I wished they had a few other sizes too I was disappointed when they said there would just be small and big. I was hoping for a medium sized dog at least... but a toy and extra big would of been cool too. The small animals are okay. I wish they would do a little bit more.

there are a bunch of permade dogs and they all look really good, I dont think its a big deal that there are two sizes, it is amazing they made as many dogs as they already did. Most dogs are either big or little anyway

and you can even make faces for bulldogs and pugs and stuff with a slider, and make their fur fluffier, also there is a slider to make the dogs mouth saggier for saggy dogs. :deal:

I wish there was big cats though.

Yes, I am aware of the existing sliders, I think the cats might use new sliders as well but my biggest concern right now is dogs because every since I've found out we're going to get Pets for Sims 3 I've been counting the days until I can make Maltese, Dachshunds, Frenchies. Honestly these are the first three breeds that came to my mind and I figured that since this is Sims 3 and not Sims 2 we'll get more options regarding height/weight. Sims can be fat or muscular, I think pets should have that option as well :)

Welcome to MTS!

I think it's highly unlikely we'll get additional Pets sliders from EA in the future. For one thing, they apparently hired a different company to make this EP, and they're presumably gone now (that is one explanation I've seen offered for the change in the rig format that broke so many objects). For another, they don't tend to add content to features that are really expansion pack specific. I guess the exception would be if they could figure out a way to do this via the Store... then we could see it.

I do think we will most likely get more pet sliders from modders, since we have many custom Sim sliders and as far as I know the technical issues aren't any different. If you're interested in learning to make custom sliders so you can contribute to pet variety yourself, I would recommend visiting the forums and tutorials under Create; there's a tut on slider creation, and some tools.

As for additional pet SIZES... I would say highly unlikely, both for EA and the mod community, just because of the massive amount of work in adjusting every animation for a pet interaction for the new sizes (including sim-pet, pet-pet and pet-object interactions). Animation mods are hard to do it TS3, which is why we still have hardly any.

Wow, I didn't realise they hired some other people, I wonder why they did that. I don't know how games work regarding creation and stuff but I would think it's best to keep the same team on? Less complications maybe. Maybe it's just me but Sims 3 seems choppier in some ways than Sims 2. I don't know how to explain it but Sims 2 even if it's older looked better (more refined somehow) and worked better. Except the dreadful loading time between places, I hated taving to wait for it to load when I was leaving the house. I brought up Sims2 because as I remember it we only had two breeds sizes, I really thought they'd release at least three with the new Sims3.

I wish I had skills to create things like sliders or custom content, I am talentless at these things :giggler:

Then I'll just have to wait for the awesome, incredible people who have the time and kindness to make extra stuff for the game and share it with others. Too bad though there's no way we will get extra sizes, I can't imagine how EA thought people won't complain over the pet sizes. When short legged breeds are so popular these days. I understand a bit how it would be too much work. They should have thought about it, as I've said , short legged breeds are among the most popular so there were probably loads of people hoping to be able to make them in game.

I'm sure they thought about it :) Software development is all about taking a long list of desirable features and figuring out which ones you're going to implement and which ones you aren't. Whether they had the right priorities in making those decisions is something the end user will always debate, of course ;)

I have been playing on and off since yesterday and I love this town. It's not too big but it is just right. The people have a distinct look which fits right into the "feel" of the world. I can't figure out how to use the blue ball for the dog nor the dog house. I click on the ball and the icon just turns into a hand and I click the dog house and there is no interaction. I haven't left the house yet because I'm scared that the dog will tear up my house lmao

The lawn gnomes are a cute touch and they somewhat help keep certain animals off of your property. I didn't know you had to click on them to activate them but I soon figured that out after a stray cat was crying at my door. I love that my sim is an environmentalist which is the first sim I have made this way.
