I've found out that by praizing or scolding your pets you can give "train" them new traits...
But for some reason no matter how often I praise my horse for being obedient she just won't learn the trait!
does anyone know why this is? or maybe not all traits can be trained?

I'm wondering this as well. Especially since the praise/scold options disappeared on me yet my horse is still untrained :/

To get rid of untrained you need to ride the horse and do any type of training (race or jumping). It took two sim days of training to get rid of untrained on my horse.

Any time your horse accept a friendly action by your sims (pet, hug, rub neck, etc.) it's considered "being obedient", you can praise that behavior and it will encourage obedient trait. Not sure what happens when the praise/scold option did not appear.

One of my horses learned the obedient trait by me praising him every time he accepted an action. Being brushed, rub neck, hug, ect.
