I'm considering buying a wii console. I am mainly interested in the ability to download classic nintendo games. Is that a feature of any Wii console or do I need to purchase a particular bundle? Or do I need to buy the original console? HELP! I am so confused by all the options.

It should be standard on all models.

The wii classic controller is a bit annoying though, I'll warn you. Not nearly as uncomfortable as the original since it has rounded edges. But something is just off about it.

I think a gamecube controller also works for most retro games, I find it much better than the classic controller.

However, if you want to use a GCN controller or play GCN games you need to watch what Wii you're buying. Nintendo recently came out with a cheaper 'more compact' Wii that loses all backward compatibility with GCN games and any related (GCN controller compatibility and memory cards).

Although the TC only mentioned interest in the Virtual Console games, I do recommend getting a Wii with GCN backward compatibility. The GCN has a great library (a much better one than the Wii IMO) so it would definitely be worth it.
