I am busy emptying another bookcase (the Dahlen library bookcases) and have got a bit overexcited making the books to fit in it... So far I have 14 different deco book meshes and the catalog is starting to look a bit cluttered.

I know there is a way to make the objects not be in the catalog but still show in a collection file, but I am a bit bewildered on how to do it.

The bookcase and books are base and I would like to be sure that Base Game only users can use the items if I go down this collection file only route.

I would be grateful for any help on this embarrassingly noobish question, and any suggestions for an alternative soloution.

Both the books and bookcases are repository linked to Base Game items and are recolourable.

In the room sort tab uncheck everything but Misc, this removes it from the catalog. You need to keep Misc checked otherwise the object won't be place able from the collection. I think the only issue for base game users is the collection file MUST be in the collection folder, later EPs made it possible to access collection even if the collection package is in downloads.

Awesome - thank you lunie. You would not happen to know how I could add a custom collection icon as well?

You can make your collection in game as usual, then open that collection.package in SimPE and edit the (IMG) resource.
