How Do you Find The Unicorn?

If you are in Appaloosa Plains the Unicorn hangs out at the Water Treatment Plant (the fishing area with all the cement viaducts and vents), it is usually only there at night, and you will be able to identity it because it has a sparkly aura

He'll spawn after a while in one of the parks or beach lots. Watch for where the wild horses sleep at night. You'll know when he spawns at night because a rainbow cloud will appear in mapview.

It only happens at night, lasts until 5am, and takes several days (I've had up to two weeks) before he spawns for the first time. After that he should spawn every couple of nights. Just go into mapview at night and watch for him. If you don't see him by midnight (it's actually sooner I just can't recall the exact time, I think it's around 9pm) he won't be showing up that night.

Deestar, the location actually varies depending on savegame. For instance, I get him at the mountain lake, and I've had him at the beach before.

Ok, I looked in the usual places, but couldn't quite understand what exactly you need to actally adopt one... Is it strictly 1 human 1 horse and 1 pet best friend or any 3 BFFs would do?
