View Full Version : Age Freeze Potion question

I just have a quick question or two on the Age Freeze potion. I want to make my whole family (2 adults and 1 child) immortal (I currently have aging off for that effect until I get the potions) by drinking the potion but I noticed that it doesn't appear in the lifetime awards for the child. I was thinking about just getting my adults high enough to obtain it and giving it to the child but that's where my question comes in.
I know that children in the Sims 3 get the short end of the stick most of the time (No instruments, can't garden, can't even check the mail), so I have to ask before I possibly put time on this: Can child age sims even drink the potion? Also are the effects of the potion permanent, or just temporary? I want to turn aging on so others age, but I don't want my family to age with them.

Does anyone know the answer? I'm going to go for it, I just want to know if anyone knows for sure if children can dring the Age Freeze potion.

I think having aging off is the only way for the kid to stay a kid, but you could test it yourself by making a separate save from the same family and obtaining the potion and simply try to make the kid drink it. Obviously people aren't answering because they don't know, so you can test it and report back. Don't forget to test Fountain of Youth too, don't know if kids can use that. Or just Age freeze the adults and have the kid on Ambrosia diet forever?

I'll do just that. I have about 50K Lifetime points saved up right now so I'm getting close to the 65K needed for the Father. What's the Fountain of Youth you talked about? Don't recall seeing that yet. It's not the Young Again potion right?

The Fountain of Youth comes with Hidden Springs, the world available for purchase at the Sims 3 Store. It's an object you can place on a lot, if a sim drinks from it they gain additional day and if they make a wish their current life stage might be reset to the beginning, but it can also backfire and replace one of their traits with another.

Ah, that sounds pretty interesting. It would be cool if kids could drink for that. I haven't bought anything from the Store, but I might get it for that. How's the town as a whole?

Double post, sry, but I just got the age freeze potion and from what I can tell, it looks like the item is locked into the inventory of whoever buys the reward and is non-transferable. I can't say I'm surprised, given that this is EA we're talking about here. Haven't tried the fountain of youth yet but I have a feeling the results would be the same. I guess the only way to make my immortal family is to keep aging off, unless someone makes a mod for a potion with the effects of Age Freeze for kids. (Just a statement, not a request.)

Try editing in cas save him to family bin make him adult then have him drink the potion then make him a child in cas to see what happens

Nekochild you are correct - the age freeze potion can't be transferred to another Sim, it's only usable by the Sim who bought it. (I accidentally bought two of them for the same Sim once, which was a big D'oh! moment for me.) Once a Sim has used it, it also can't be purchased again. So the only way to keep a child permanently a child is to turn aging off for that specific Sim. You can do that with cheats (I think) and with Twallan's Nraas mods.
taylorswiftlake has a good idea. Not sure if it would work, but it's worth a shot, if you don't want to use cheats or mods.
