View Full Version : A question about hair retextures/TS2 conversions [RESOLVED]

I've got a wierd question, please forgive:

I went to a website and saw someone offering a custom conversion of a TS2 hair for TS3, so I was really excited because the original was really cute. BUT. The person's conversion isn't that great--there are gaping holes everywhere, and I don't like it, so what wanted to do was dl the hair anyway, but fix it up a bit for my own enjoyment.

Is it possible to take the hair and swap out whatever texture the converter did, for the original TS2 texture? Is it as easy as just removing one and replacing it with another in a 1-2 step? Or is there more involved? (I use Photoshop, btw, not Gimp, and I'm fine using CTU or something if TSRW's not the best/quickest way to do this re-conversion).

It depends entirely on how they did the conversion. If they did some remapping, then the original TS2 texture won't fit the mesh anymore. And you'll usually have to adjust the TS2 texture to work for TS3 anyway (since TS3 textures are greyscale and TS2's are coloured) but usually taking a white/light grey/light blonde recolour of the original and tweaking works okay.

But if there's gaping holes everywhere, the mesh might need some fixing too, so just replacing the texture might not be enough.

Darn. Yeah--there are ghastly holes everywhere; really shoddy--but I suck at meshing and CAS creations so I guess that's out of the window. :P Thanks for letting me know!

And btw, I'm glad I caught you, HP: I've been meaning to find a way to tell you for months now that you have the BEST AVATAR I'VE EVER SEEN! :lovestruc The little pony kicking it's feet up makes me smile every time I see it--thank you for aways bringing me a little ray of sunshine. ^-^
