View Full Version : Teen continues on to adult career path - bug, mod or normal?

I finally got the sims 2 to work on my newest computer(after years of not playing because it conflicted with the graphics card of my last computer), and I've been enjoying rediscovering the game. However, the teen careers aren't working as I'd remembered them, and I'm not sure if it's a bug, a CC issue, or if it's working as intended.

I don't have apartment life installed yet, so I'm playing with every expansion up through freetime. My CC list is pretty small, mostly clothes and hair. I am running the inteenimator(which may be the culprit), as well as a handful of other small mods which doesn't touch teens or careers at all. I didn't search the internet for any patches, I installed only what came on the disks.

My teen sim reaches level 3 of the career just as I remember, and I get the message about reaching the top, they get the "overachiever" status for the want, and so on. But then, they continue to be promoted beyond that point, advancing into the adult career levels. I don't think that should be happening. They continue to have school listed in their career panel, though I'm not sure if the bus is going to come for them or not - the career in question is the intelligence career level 4, which has hours of 14:00-20:00, so it seems that it can coexist alongside school.

I would try taking out mods and running without them, but I'm afraid I'll FUBAR my sim/neighborhood since he's already up a career path he shouldn't be in. At this point, I'll settle for figuring out what caused the issue and what steps I can take to prevent it in future sims.

That's what a backup is for: Something to revert back to if your testing (which you DO have to do) messes something up.

The Game_Help:Game_Problem FAQ will walk you through the steps necessary to find and fix your problem, including backing up so that you don't fubar anything.

(Just a wild guess, but do you by any chance have InTeen? I seem to remember that happening to some of my teens when my husband added it to our game. It came in a flavor pack, I think.)

One thing that we know: this is not normal game behavior. It is either caused by CC, or is a sign of corruption in your neighborhood.

You are the only one who can make that determination, by following the game problem FAQ.

Inteen does this automatically once your teens are over 18.
