This is a project I've been working on for a while, and it had recently taken a seat on the back burner. But I'd really like to get it finished and uploaded, so I've come to ask for some thoughts.

It is an adaptation of some houses advertised for sale by Galliard Homes, in Clapham. There are 3 different plans, and in this lot I've put one of each on either side of a central playpark area, as mirror images. Currently, I've furnished 3/6 units.

What I'd like is some feedback on anything and everything before I go ahead and put the finishing touches on the other 3 units (given as just furnishing the first 3 took an awfully long time)

Thanks guys.

I like the shapes you've created. I'm not too keen on the basements, they're always so dark. Why have you got inside sofas outside? The apartments seem very large too. I really like the concept behind this though :)

It looks great! Oo
I looked for some little details to change, but ... didn't find!

Thanks Amylet :)

The inside sofas are outside cos they looked the most similar to the ones on the pics i took inspiration from. I guess I could change them; I've not been 100% true to the originals everywhere else.

I know basements are dark :( But they did have them in the originals and I liked the way the outside areas worked in conjunction.

And the only appartment I've added an extra floor to was the triangular one on the end; originally the ground floor held the fkitchen diner and lounge, no basement area. But it was a little cramped so I firgured why not expand it :)

Also while I'm here- should I furnish the other side or just leave it neutrally decorated so others can do their own thing with wallpapers and furniture? And if you reckon I should furnish it, would you say do it the same as the finished ones, or different?

In the game they need to be furnished, at least minimally. Why not furnish them the same as the others?

If you have built apartments for the Apartment Life expansion, your apartments must be furnished.

I think you should furnish all the apartments. ;)

Have you tried converting them to apartments yet? And if so did they work?

It is difficult to see how many apartments you have per floor, so I tried to count the stairs access and it seems to be 3. The only mistake you can make when you create apartments, is to allow that a bedroom be placed in contact with whatever room from the other apartment. All bedrooms must be located in strategic positions so that no wall is shared with the neighbor apartment. Otherwise sims won't be able to sleep (neighbor's noise).

@ HL: Thanks... I hadn't remembered that... Guess I'll get right on it :)

@ ekrubynaffit: I don't think I've actually converted them yet, but I have checked access for sims, specifically checking stairs and the cubby holes. I'll make sure its something I do before I upload, to check I've not missed anything. I've been very careful as I built them to make sure the only entrances to each unit were the front doors, but you never know; I may have missed something. I'll convert tonight or tomorrow night and check :)

@ xptl297: I've got 3 apartments in the floor plan pictures, each have 4 floors, from bottom up: basement, groundfloor, first floor, second floor. Unfortunately when I uploaded the pics onto the thread I forgot to number them to make them appear in the correct order. The appartment bedrooms do share walls, partially because I was following a floorplan, and partially because there just isnt enough space to not share walls. I guess if thats something that players specifically want to avoid in their apartments, this is not a download for them.

I must admit to being torn between sticking to the floorplan and trying to rearrange to avoid the potential noise disturbance; if anyone has any ideas that would make it work, without completely distorting the current idea, I can give it a try.

Here's a link for the pdf from Galliard Homes Ltd website http://www.galliardhomes.com/ click on town houses, then view brochures (to the right of the page) then click on brochure (under the picture) and it will take you to a pdf that shows you pictures and floorplans ect, so you can see what I'm working from.

Yes, from what I can see from the floor plans, you have indeed the problem in at least 3 bedrooms. One thing you can do without distorting the plan, is to try to cover the walls with a maximum of wardrobes you can. I don't remember if the closet wardrobe isolates from noise, but probably it does because it has two walls, not sure. The apartment noise is an object that is placed inside the other apartment. If there is something against the wall, the object noise cannot be placed. It is even possible to delete the noise by placing an object from J.M. Pescado that is a yellow box that nukes invisible or corrupted objects. The noise is deleted when you enter live mode.

Oh cool, I didn't know exactly what it was that modifed the noise behaviour. I'll bear that in mind next time I build apartments, if I do again put bedrooms against the boundaries between units.

As far as I can tell, its the first floor single bedrooms in the middle and back appartments that will suffer, but there is furniture on against the walls on both sides, all the way, so hopefully that won't be too bad. I'll play test and see how much it happens, then I can warn folks in the upload text, mebbe.

So far in my tests, only wardrobes stop the noise. Wall paintings, desks, beds don't work. Good Luck!
