View Full Version : Confused about Story Progression

I am a little confused about the story progression. I tried to google it, but couldn't find something helpful.

I always thought that if you disabled the story progression, the other households would "freeze" so that when you come back to play with them later, they'll be where you left them. I played with another household for 10 minutes and when I got back to the other household, everything had changed. One of my sims didn't go to work (the time had not stood still for them), another sim had gotten a job and was walking around in the town. I thought they weren't supposed to do that when you turned off Story Progression. I tried to download twallans storyprogression mod, but couldn't get it to work. I read a lot of tutorials, but nothing helped. I couldn't find the mod anywhere in the game.

Also, if I disable aging, will it stop sims from aging completely or will my active household still age while I play with it?

Disabling the EAxis story progression simply stops sims getting married, having babies etc. The only way I know of to suspend households is by way of a mod (Twallan's SP or I believe Awesomemod). What do you mean you couldn't find it? Twallan's SP isn't an object but is something added to the pie menu of sims, computers, and town hall.

Turning aging off will turn it off for everyone -- if you only want your active household to age, again you need a mod (I know Twallan's SP has an option for TS2 aging).

When I clicked on the Town Hall nothing special showed up. I can't find a way to use twallan's mod in game.

twallan's mods show up under the "NRaas" option when clicking on city hall. Each of his installed mods will then have a separate "tab" to click on for access.

If you are not seeing the options, it would be best to reread the instructions for the mods or post the issue on his wiki for more assistance.

was walking around in the town.

As katya_stevens noted, EA Story Progression simply deals with progressing your families, getting jobs, getting married, having children, moving to new homes in town.

However, turning off that system does NOT make The Sims 3 act like The Sims 2. Your neighbors will continue to wander around town, continue to chat and interact with other sims, continue to interact with objects and gain skills in the process.

[StoryProgression] does have the capability to stop skill gain, but it does not stop your sims from wandering town on their own, nor can it stop them from altering their long-term relationships during chats.

Thank you all for being so helpful! I finally got it working! Now, what should I set as true or false to make the unactive households do as little as possible while I am not playing with them? I have enabled TS2 aging, so my other households won't age when I'm not playing with them, right?

Embla, you should get support for Twallan's mods at his site :) You'll find a lot of very helpful people there. Glad you got it working to your satisfaction!
