See, folks, this is what I miss about The Sims 1+2 and absolutely loathe about The Sims 3.

Goddamn. Rabbitholes.

I. HATE. RABBITHOLES.

I also hate whatever wisecrack came up with the idea for these colossally stupid, ridiculous things. They're nothing but a source of aggravation, even in the regular Sims 3 game, NPC's seem to enjoy disappearing into them forever.

But even moreso in the Sims Medieval. Is there any way to force an NPC OUT of a rabbithole? This problem happens constantly when I'm doing a quest, I can't find an NPC I need to interact with, and can't even find out where the heck they are because they've disappeared into a rabbithole for who knows how long.

Getting to the point, I'm upset because, even if you've struck up a relationship or something with one (unless you've actually married them), quest related NPC's just magically vanish after the quest. My Physician began "Courting" that girl from "The Mirthful Love Doctor" quest, and now I'd like them to get married. But the problem is, she just went poof and disappeared from the game world entirely and I can't find her anywhere.

Is there any way to bring back NPC's that the game vanished with stupid rabbitholes? :cry:

You can't invite her over?

Do the quest again, and she should walk into the hood again. Then use Grim's Set Relationship on her, or whatever it's called, and marry her to your sim, in which case I presume she becomes a playable member of that family. Or use that ctrl+right click or shift+right click, whatever it is, and make her playable, then get the two of them together.

I'm with you on this one. I also loathe Rabbitholes! :deal: All they are is laziness on the part of EA's developers! They didn't want to have to write the programming for actually going inside the store or building. There is nothing more lame, than sending your Sim to watching a sporting even, and then hanging around outside listening to the crowd cheering! Jeeze! I haven't lost any NPCs in Medieval yet, but I have had one helluvatime getting my Sims married! :faceslap:

I had one disappear on me once that my monarch was betrothed to and then she disappeared. Whenever he would invite her over she would say I am busy and that was that. It took about three quests before she came back, then I married them up quick popped out two ruggies and divorced them and sent her and the kids off to play. The kids hung around but she went off into lala land somewhere.. rabbit hole or whatever. It was all cool except that I sent one of them shopping and found out it was no longer possible to open their inventory so could not get the stuff that my monarch paid for.

I had this problem with a kid I'd sent to pick up a quest object from the store, and the item disappeared from the store after the kid bought it too. I did manage to get it back with a work around, but I can't remember how.
Grim's Core has a view inventory function that should let you get your items from the kid's inventory though.

Yes I saw that, but did not need to use it yet. Unfortunately, something happened to my game last night and now when I put Grim's Core in the game runs ok but it only runs the game core and I can not bring up options. When I take it out the game functions normally. I tried everything I can think of no go. One thing I did notice is that to begin with Windows had blocked the file, marking it as untrusted from a different computer (stupid Vista) when I changed that it still will not function. I tried deleting the file and putting in a new one, same deal.

And now I found the problem, so am back in business... on to the next thing... and all because somehow I got the core into the wrong package folder. Makes me happy that I found it though.

Nice to see you back, I thought I had frightened you away or grossed you out or something. I have a quick and unrelated question: where is the thread for the burned hair and clothes, I lost them silly me.
===
(edit:) I found them, please disregard the question.

=====Please forgive the bump....
I know this is an old thread but I gathered some info new to me that can help fix this problem so am posting about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Download ShimrodsTSMMoreMapTagsVer2.rar -- unrar it and put the package in a file where you can access it easily
2) Download and install Grim's Core
==
A) When it happens that a sim you need for the quest rabbit holes themselves, put the More Map Tags mod into your Mods/Packages folder and restart the game,.
B) Then, with debug interactions checked on Grim's Core, make the sim you want to bring back selectable "make hero selectable" interaction,
C) Cancel whatever action if any you find this sim doing, and move them where you need them.
D) Once restored to your game environment, make the sim not selectable again "make hero not selectable" interaction.
-----
If you like you can just install the More Map Tags mod in your package folder and leave it there, I remove it because of two things... I find all of them being on to be distracting... and I have a slow computer and all those tags take resources so I can not run them all the time.

I hope all this verbage helps someone with this problem. It does not work all the time but I have saved some quests from the previous only solution of a restart. Note: I always save a copy at completion of a quest in a folder I made for this in save called QC (quest completed) -- I learned long ago just how buggy this game can be and if everything goes south I can always revert to the situation before I started the quest that failed without using quest points by replacing the worldcastle file with the one I have saved here. If you use this method only thing is you have to remember to save one here (move the file manually) upon completion of a quest.

Smile and enjoy. :)
