"-When a Service NPC joins the family, their special service outfit is added to the wardrobe."
Doesn't that already happen?

"-You can now specify what outfit your Sim will wear to work by using a dresser."
Silly EA, that's what MasterController is for. Way to release new developments we've actually already had for ages.

"-Receive status updates from your friends about their game, and comment!"
Is this a feature or a punishment?

LOLOLWHAT:
"-Get all of the latest and exciting news from The Sims 3!"
Is this patch really so lightweight and halfassed that "Get spam advertisements from EA" counts as a feature?

I accidentally downloaded this patch on my Mac. This hideous looking blue elder sim kept popping up in the message corner. I forgot that long ago, I picked that beast as my account avatar one day when I was bored. It kept asking me to try out the new chat features and talk to all my friends who are also playing. That thing has to go.

LOL. Yup, taking one for the team :) Testing the patch AND the social features. By the way... a reminder for anybody reading this who is considering patching:

Don't forget to disable your gameplay mods initially!

Other CC may be affected too but less likely. Good advice on patching: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching

I got my EA account sorted out, finally. Initial observations:

There's a "login" button on the main menu. That's good, in a way, because it means you don't HAVE to log in ;)

There's also a new tab in Options for Online Settings. Has Privacy Settings, Privacy Policy, a logout button (presumably a login button if you're not logged in)... this is also good, because you can log out while playing if you want to be online sometimes but not ALL the time. Facebook and Twitter settings, Enable Notifications checkbox.

The privacy settings let you set whether your MyPage and Profile are visible to friends only, everybody or nobody. There are also facebook and twitter settings, but since I don't use those somebody else will have to test em :)

And there is a new option on the game ... menu with Profile, Achievements, Wall, Friends, News tabs. It is pretty much access to your MyPage at the EA site... but the achievements are new, of course. You can edit your profile text in-game but alas you cannot upload your current sim as an avvie (have to do that through the site). You can post memories on your Wall, and achievements will auto-post.

51 achievements you can get... and badges... are badges different from achievements? are achievements combinations of badges? I am confused :)

And I am regretting having accepted friend requests from dozens of random people at the EA site after a bout of posting there a few years ago ;) *mass defriending* (If I defriended you don't be offended! ;) )

I thought there was in-game chat, but no... just facebook-style status updates... have to go on using google chat like always.

That is the smallest 'update' I think I've ever seen. They're just going to have to release another patch after SHT comes out and we tell them what all the bugs are (that they totally tested for before release...).

One question - I seem to remember a feature meant for SHT about getting to change your sim's makeup for each outfit, is that included here and not mentioned, or will I just have to add that to the pro list on possibly getting SHT?

Yup! just checked, that is in there :D

In terms of size, or what? All those social features make it fairly substantial IMO. The patch notes, btw, are clearly far from complete ;) As usual.

Should probably have mentioned that we can talk about patch features here, but for bugs and errors and the like, you should head over to the Help forums :) Read this first though! http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Common_Errors (Hint: your error is in there.)

Is this just an update to align the Social features with the website's MyPage updates/features? I'm so afraid there'll be another update with more "game bug fixes and further polish" next week. 'Cos updating wiki patch pages is no fun. ;)
But I see Twallan has already been updating his mods - so guess the DeltaBuilds do contain whatever new fixes they deem to include.

Anyway, I've completed the Current pages' updates to have the lastest links for manual updates.

As usual, if there are any mistakes, post in the Talk pages (if you have a Wiki account) or PM me...

Just installed the patch. I'm liking the look of these online settings so far. You can check or uncheck 'Keep Me Logged In' and 'Enable Online Notifications'.

I like how you can CHOOSE when you want to be online and use Simport. I was so worried you would be forced to be logged in the whole time you play.

If you are having problems with the patch...

Whether your issue is with downloading/installing the new patch, or if you've got it installed and now your game is having issues, that's a job for the Help section. Do not post here for help with your game!

For issues with the patch itself, see: Patch Issues (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching)
For problems with your game that have come up since installing the patch (or ANY problems with your game in general!) see: Sims 3 Game Problem (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Game_Problem)

So I installed the patch on my old computer to check things out and everything seems to be working as it should. I only tested for a little bit but CC and my updated mods (only NRaas) are working well.

I've already read posts about it causing problems with skins and CC in CAS, has any one tested their CAS after patching?

I didn't see any issues with CAS or CAS CC. I only have default skins (no non-defaults) and a handful of hair and piercings though. And they implemented the make-up by category in the same way as with hairstyles—with the little lock at the top. I already had that feature in my game courtesy of Master Controller, but it's good of them to implement it officially… finally. Can't figure out how the family wardrobe is supposed to work, however.

And for those of you who were concerned about being able to avoid the social features in the patch (of which I definitely was one), I'm happy to report that you can avoid them pretty much entirely. I kept the game blocked through my firewall, shop mode off, and didn't log in, and everything in-game was the same as before. You will be nagged the first time you get to the main menu with a message saying something to the effect of "You are strongly encouraged to log in to fully enjoy all features the game has to offer… blah blah" but there's a check box where you can tell it to not show the message again. And there's an extra tab in Options, but that's easy to ignore. In the notification box in the upper right hand corner, there is a tab for player updates but it's just greyed out and unclickable if you don't enable the feature.

Now I'm cautiously optimistic that SHT and Simport will be fully "opt-outable" as well. I mean, there will still be those locked features and that pisses me off, but most likely they will be able to be modded to be unlocked and I guess I can live with that. At least TPTB haven't required an internet connection to play the game (yet). That would be a deal breaker for me.

So, yay! Everything hasn't erupted into a fiery ball of fury so far. Let's hope it stays that way with the release of SHT. I'll probably patch my "real" game in a couple of days. Hopefully there won't be another patch next week.

Simsdestroyer
2nd Mar 2012, 11:50 AM
Two words.....Memory Hog.... I did try the new features, and encountered a problem while trying customization to build a house. If you tap the randomization button alot, while being logged into the features, it will stop randomizing and get stuck on that particular item. You can come out and select another item by switching from build mode to object mode but......if you click on the paintbrush icon to customize a new object, customization will go into a endless loop. And you will either have to ctrl alt delete out, or click to go back to main menu. I'm not sure if you can save if you go out using the main menu option, I was to scared. But if that's not a bug, it's never happened to me before, so that's what I've found with the new patch. That kind of sucks, because the achievement system looks kind of interesting and I wanted to try that for awhile. But you have to be logged on for things to be counted towards that...Cest le vie

Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Generations Updates
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Thanks for the information coming from someone who has applied the patch. I also use Twallan's mods; although I do have quite a few non default skins that I use that should not be a big issue; creators are always doing something new.

Actually, for me that issue was solved when I removed Error Trap :)

So far, I have it working just fine ;) And I love the fact they allow you to turn off those online notifications! I got quite annoyed by that pop up that remained in my screen asking me to post whatever I was doing. Turning off those online notifications removed them! But, I do not have friends on my sims account, never actually used it, so I'm not sure what the patch does on that front ;)

Well, now that I don't have any mods that need to be updated on a regular basis...I think I'll sit this one out. I can live without SHT and I really can't be bothered to reinstall all my CC for the equivalent of ingame facebook. And the last time I updated it deleted my legacy savegame (and the backup) so I don't trust it anymore anyway.

There are reports of content not showing up in-game and problems installing new content after the latest patch from EA. We are currently narrowing down the issues behind this (most seems to be related to CAS content and textures) and will provide free updates through our newly launched Updates Service. If you have been a subscriber here previously you will be able to download all updated subscriber content for free as well.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing many of you and we will report back here once we have come up with a stable solution.

Update: It seems the problem is not with the file formats, but rather with the installation itself not working properly. Hopefully this is a patch issue that will resolve itself with another patch (since even EA store content refuse to show for some). We'll keep investigating.

Deja Vu!!!! This is from a 2009 thread! We are actually making progress you'll we are coming full circle!

Edit 2: Aha, not a bug, that is the new "work outfit" feature... she is an architectural designer... I was able to plan her a new, more respectable work outfit at the dresser. However her hair, which was a (legit) store hair, was not available for a work outfit... so I had to give her a hat.

I don't know if it's just me, but after downloading the patch i now have no more spiral staircases (i have generations) and no more trees, bushes, flowers or rocks in my "build" section. Also, on "edit town" there is no more symbol above lots, knowing if it's an empty lot, empty house or if there are sims living in. Which also makes me unable to have my sims move out. VERY annoying. I don't know if it's the patch or the patch going all crazy because i have one cracked expansion pack (not the last one, i play with cd)....

Anyone else?

Welcome to the wonderful world of EA. Like, honestly, who is checking the quality of these games? :faceslap:

I've only created, maybe, 2 vegetarian Sims (and I barely make them, btw and I remember that. EA is beyond stupid now.

And why do they keep taking things out of EPs and putting them in patches. We JUST went through with Generations a year ago. Some stuff just makes the EP look better...

Remember they worked on locking and unlocking make up; like the outfits; the EA developers team should have asked Twallan how he managed to do it for his MODS without messing the game up! When we'll we learn that they do not worry about quality, they are at the money making end; our moders bring quality to the game!

I think we simmers should make a new facebook account for the social feature, and be friends with each other, and never open those accounts.

That way, or burns down EA. Which one do you prefer?

I can't get any LTWs to show up in CAS. I just have these little blue hearts and when you click on them an empty text box pops up.
Are you using a memory mod? That happened to me with patch 1.29 and it turned out that's what was causing the problem - I removed the memory mod and all was well. If you are using a memory mod, remove it and see if the modder has made an update.

So I've checked it once again, this time on various community and residential lots and the guitars (the basic one and the one from the Prius Sweet Life Pack set) have worked fine. Have you checked other guitars? Maybe this particular guitar from the store is bugged?

When it comes to my after-patched experience I've only noticed the previously mentioned issue with LTW that disappeared but unfortunately deleting "no memories" mod doesn't help... Nevermind, I forgot that you have to choose traits first and than you can choose LTW... :faceslap:

All the guitars in my game seem to be working ok now. Maybe in saving the game with the glitched guitar, the problem was somehow fixed.

Thanks for checking it out, anyway.

Not fixed with Patch 1.31
- Cars are still spawning in inactives inventories
- Flute Forward dress still has a missing leg.
- Level 10 Horses Animation still off.
- Mags' Door still has the wall showing through.
Also, there seems to be a problem with patch corrupting existing Family, specially if you have pets; another issue is that the unicorns have lost all magical powers, which I had one as a pet. Skins, specially, non default have a strage tint to them, like when your seems turn into vampires.
These I have test on a different PC than the one I use to play. My regular playing game I have not patch yet. I also tested the guitars, since I have a virtuoso in the household; however all seems to be normal, including the Lunar Lakes guitar. I will try doing a public performance though!
I will test make-up and contacts now and let you all know.

Thinking it was the online social settings that was giving my game problems, I turned off my internet access and tried to play. Well not even ten minutes later the game just crashed by itself (a problem I have had in the past that made me get rid of all of my custom content and mods). I tried again this morning after restarting my computer, I kept the internet on but turned off the social features in the game, turned down some settings, restarted, and then the "sims 3 is not working" error happened again. I think I'm just going to uninstall and reinstall.

I haven't seen the new sandwich in my game and I patched a few days ago! I'm about to play my family so I'll look again (maybe I missed it). I did see an option for vegetarian something, can't remember what it was, but when I click on my fridge it says I can make it for 32 simoleans. I for one am happy that vegetarian Sims have more food options - the reason I didn't like veggie Sims was because they only had like 5 meals they could eat without getting the feeling sick moodlet.
I also really like the idea of being able to make a sandwich that is not peanut butter and jelly or grilled cheese. The one thing I miss the most from Sims 2 was all the custom foods we could have and that made meal times more interesting. I get tired of having my Sims serve the same meals over and over again.

I tried playing Friday night logged in to the new social features - they're OK I guess. The one thing I did not like was in the upper right corner of your screen, there is a little box that stays there all the time that invites you to "make a new post". This box cannot be deleted, although you can click it so that it doesn't show. The only problem is if you use Twallan's StoryProgression mod, the stories pop up in that same corner so you're constantly having to click on that stupid EA box to minimize again after reading the StoryProgression pop ups. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it got on my nerves real quick so I won't be using the log in or social features. I did enjoy the in game "accomplishments" that you can achieve - they are great for those of us who like having a goal to work towards once your Sim has completed their lifetime wish.

Going through the list, and all was well and 'meh' until I started reading the new community lot descriptions. Soooo, designating a lot as a 'Coffeehouse' is pretty much just a rename of the 'hangout' style community lot? The description doesn't include anything particularly coffee-like about the lot, other than the name. The "Live Show Venue" designation suggests that the only 'live' performances we'll get at bars are if we don't designate it as a BAR, but instead a live show venue.

WHY? Why must we have specific lot types to be able to perform? Couldn't they have simply added the ability to perform at say, the regular hangout?

Other than rolling my eyes at that, I was mildly excited about the nice list of build/buy stuff.

i wish i hadnt patched. my game wont even load. i barely know how to put mods IN my game, i havent the slightest clue as to how one "takes them out in order to patch" so since it looks like my game might be forever byebye (how am i supposed to even try fixing it when i go to start it and it tells me it's not responding and shuts itself down)

SO, untill i have the patience to figure this shit out, EA can simply fuck the fuck off. and i'll be damned straight to hell in a technicolor handbasket if i'll even CONSIDER buying the sims4. i'm not buying any more expansion packs. this has gotten beyond "retarded". EA games went and ate a big ole brain tumor for breakfast one morning not so very long ago, when they decided it was a brilliant idea to sell magical pieces of paper in cd boxes for "a whole new world!..." (sorry, i had princesss jasmine in my head there) and they havent managed to pass that tumor/clot yet. i doubt they'll ever bother.

i'd go back to sims2 if i hadnt given my husband all my disks for his computer, hell, i might even go back to sims1 if i could find anything custom for it anymore, but there aint much.

Mine wouldn't load after patching last night either, it would crash as soon as the game started loading. In my case it was just a matter of updating custom content. I determined it was a custom content conflict because, after removing my package files from My Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder, the game would finally load. It turned out to be a conflict with one of the NRaas mods. Fortunately, Twallan had already updated them, so I just redownloaded and reinstalled them, and the game then loaded fine.

That had happened to me at aleatory times after the last patch, 1.26; although now it has not happened in a while; however thanks for the heads-up, since sometimes I leave the game loading and go off and when I get back my sims are all off doing something I did not want them to.

There are a couple new lines in Options.ini:

requireloginbeforeload = 1
receiveconnecttns = 0

Set them as they are shown here and that prompt will disappear. I realize that the one on top looks wrong, it "looks" as if it should be set at 0; but setting them like this has worked for a number of players who've posted about it.

sweet, 2 people dissagree with me about my opinion, yet again. i'm sure it's the few mods i have that are causing the issue, i think it's 3, nraas mods, and i think i may even have figured out what to do about it. but that doesnt change my opinion that EA has a nasty habit of releasing games that are broken/not working "properly" even before you get them home from the store.

i wont be buying SHT unless i accidentally ingest one of those brain tumors myself. i WILL NOT be buying sims 4, unless it comes with an actual sim that will physically pop out of my computer and do my for reals laundry. EA has managed to lure me in entirely too many times now.

I find it funny that EA gives us in-game chat and simport, but does not wish to put a storyboard editor into the game. I had a dream a few nights ago that the 1.31 patch placed a storyboard editor into The Sims 3. Too bad that was just a dream! Why won't EA put a storyboard editor into the game, but at the same time they have put simport and in-game chat into it? :wtf: Stories give the sims and the environments much more meaning. Think about it! :|

The whole issue with sims and pets vanishing should be treated as a priority and fixed. I would ask why EA can't do things right the first time, but I already know the answer to that. :duck:

First time I load a household, the sims are with EA skins, as well as the sims they meet in town. to change the skins to default replacements, i have to take those sims into CAS, switch between skintones one or several times, and only then their EA pudding faces with ugly bulby noses change to normal faces that can be called "human". Privacy is a sacred thing to have, everyone. It is important that you never let anyone take your ability to think and your ability to question away. :report:

I'm having launcher issues since the patch. What happens is that my progress bar when installing a .sim3pack file stalls about a third of the way to completion and doesn't move. Nothing freezes, it just continuously stays in that position. Does anyone know if this is a DEP or large address aware issue? Any ideas for work around's or how to solve?

Is it just me, or does the launcher look bigger now?

At first, it wouldn't even load on this patch, but now it seems wider than usual...
