After installing university, I decided whats the point of having 1 EP so I went and got more....

Here's what I have now
University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Glamour Life, Pets, and Seasons

First let me say that I'm totally amazed at how much stuff comes prepackaged with these... cause I didn't have enough already!

My question, which I'm sure is easy to answer, I just don't know... is this...

Should I go through all 10,000 files that worked with my Base Game, and figure out which ones have Uni/OFB/NL/etc upgrades?

What exactly is the difference between a chair designed for the base game, and a chair designed for Pets?

Lets look specifically at Aroundthesims "Moderline Study" (link: http://www.aroundthesims2.com/objects/sets_study/004/index.html) - There are pet options for most of the Chairs - and a PC that has options for Uni, OFB, Pets, as well as Freetime (which I don't have), and bookcases for UNI.

I spent my entire day today sorting and resorting through just my body shop files (phew), I want to know if its worth digging into the rest of it. I know one thing for absolute sure, I'm off to redownload the Eris3000 stuff. I know when I downloaded it originally, a bunch of it wouldn't work for me - fingers crossed that it does now!

I did google first before coming here, so I appreciate any help you can give me, and apologize if this is a newb question.

Yes, you should upgrade your custom content.

Various EPs add more functionality. For example, a chair designed for Pets will allow cats to destroy it by scratching. A fridge designed for Seasons will allow the storage of fresh produce, and one of the EPs allows storage and retrieval of leftovers. A FreeTime computer will allow hobby activities. Bookshelves have new functionality with several of the EPs, including learning new skills.

Thanks Moo :) you're amazing - everytime I need help you seem to be right there!

I did decide to go head and go through a bunch of my stuffs - it might mean a complete redownload of some things, but the main thing I need is organization. With the addition of these EP's I can subfolder and subsubfolder and I'm looking forward to most of it :D

Most of the time I can just figure things out - but when it comes to game play, I don't always play the game so that was my concern. I'm a house builder. I like to make a house, decorate it, move a family in, then move on to the next house. I just got done figuring out the problem with my Modular stairs not working. Turns out they were working, but I had the recolors in another folder (not in downloads at all), so obviously its not designable with no recolors - LOL - I figured this out of course AFTER I uninstalled and reinstalled scriptorium thinking that was the problem. In fact I was so happy to see scriptorium kept my scripts in tact throughout my entire uninstall and reinstallation of Sims 2 through Seasons. I really thought I had to go redownload them all over again.

I'm going on and on now - sorry :D

Anyway, thank you! I really appreciate it and even if its stupid questions, I'm sure it will help others as well. - you rock!

oh I should ask this - can I just download the item thats most recent - for example - there's a bookcase that has options for Uni, Pets, and um.. Freetime I think it was - can I just download Freetime and that will cover pets?

disregard that I don't have freetime - same same - I'd download Pets and it would cover Uni - Yes?

Yes, always download just one version -- that which matches the latest released EP you have.

Thank you Mordant! Thats what I did while I was waiting for a response. I figured I'd go get the others if need be.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through my downloads folder - so far so good, everything is running beautifully. I am wishing now I didn't haphazardly download everything in sight though :D only 10,843 files to go!
