Driving your children to school option?

I don't know if this is a technical issue or not but I was wondering, how do you get the drive your kids/children to school option? My family has a car, the owner of the car is a mom (the only adult in the household). She has 2 children and everyday the school bus comes except the weekends. I want the mom to drive the children to school instead of the bus. How/Where do I click to get this option? I read that the parent can drive the kids/children to school.

Unless the feature came with an EP you don't have (I have no idea), you should see the option by clicking the car itself. The bus will still come, but you can simply ignore it.

thank you for replying, I clicked on the car and the only options was to Go Somewhere/Turn on Stero/etc. even with the kids sitting in the car... hmmm

I have never heard of or gotten this option. It's possible you've heard of a mod that lets you do this, so I'd try the WCIF forum.

It is also possible that you heard about a teen being able to drive himself to school. If the teen owns the vehicle, he'll do this automatically in the same way that adults automatically drive themselves to work. I believe I've heard of people figuring out how to make the teen drive brothers and sisters to school as well, but I couldn't tell you how it was done.

It's definitely not a mod thing, Peni. Back in the day when I was playing the Apocalypse Challenge with no hacks, parents being able to drive kids to school on snow days so they (the kids) could eat was an important survival strategy. :)

Are you waiting until 8 o'clock? I believe the option doesn't show up until then.

Like Mordant said, it may be a timing issue. The option won't be available until the bus arrives, but I believe it remains available long after the bus is gone.

So, with the would-be adult driver selected, click on the car sometime after the bus arrives, and the option should be there.

If you try at the right time and still don't see the option, perhaps there's a conflict with the adult's work schedule. If he/she is supposed to be meeting the carpool or driving in to work during the time he/she would be away taking the kids to school, the drive to school option would, I think, be suppressed.

I don't believe it was nearly as late as FT, Ghost sdoj. When I started playing ACs, I only had up to Seasons, and I'm 99.99% certain parents were able to drive kids to school then.

Drive kids to school has been in the game since Nightlife. Mordant is probably right--the OP may be trying too early. The adult's work schedule wouldn't affect the command.

I guess I don't play kids enough. I didn't remember seeing that option before my sims moved in the middle of a thunderstorm and my tree got hit by lightning just as the kids were getting in the car.
