View Full Version : Why does the latest update stop my Launcher from working again? And TS3.exe doesn't work?

I really want to install Sims 3 Pets but it needs the latest update. But I can't get that update because it stops my Launcher from working! After I install the update (via Launcher), the following happens:

- When I open the Launcher, a pop-up saying "Sims3Launcher has stopped working" and it disappears after a few seconds, and nothing else happens.

- When I right-click that shortcut and click "Run as administrator", the same happens.

I tried the TS3.exe in Local Disk (C)\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin but when I double-click it, nothing happens.

Can somebody please explain to me how I can install Pets without that update, or at least how to install the update without messing everything up? I had to re-install the base-game 3 times, and it takes a long time!

There's not much we can do about the Launcher breaking - it's just badly coded. The easiest thing is to not use the Launcher, although that does mean you're stuck if you want to install lots or worlds. The solutions suggested here may help: Game Help:Launcher Issues.

The TS3.exe file isn't used any more - you need TS3W.exe to start the game, or Sims3Launcher.exe to start the Launcher.
