I'm going to make a video on this because I haven't found any. I think it should be done just to show how much the animations of Sims 3 kids could be improved! Sims 2 kids can do so many things compared to Sims 3 and they also are a lot funnier. Is there any particular interaction of Sims 2 that you'd like to see included in the video? Thanks.

Well, no, not any real animation ideas. However, I have compared TS2 & TS3 to XP and Windows 7.
TS2 is like XP. It's reliable and rarely ever craps out.
TS3 is like W7. It's pretty, and has some new features. However, something's are really not good compared to XP and Vista. I think that observation ties into your thing about TS3 kids just... not really being kiddy, ya' know?

I'd love to see your video. As far as the interactions of TS2 kids goes, some which come to mind are:
-Their playing 'Mary Mack', playing cops and robbers shooting each other and falling down.
-The way they do "nyah nyah" with each other
-Tease their toddler siblings but sometimes kiss them and play peekaboo with them
-The "oh so angry" and tantrum throwing actions, kids who have low aspirations make.
-Their running and hugging the parents when they come home from work
-Their holding their nose and muttering "gah blearh" or something if a stinky sim is nearby.
These are the ones which amuse me the most. The whole list is really too long. Having funny, whacky or sometimes true to life animations is the essence of Sims 2 as opposed to having tons of superficial fluff or what you call bells and whistles.
The disappointment which TS3 toddlers and kids have caused me is one of the biggest complaints I have towards that game. Did you notice, TS3 children seem like they have little or no neck and have sort of muscular arms. Also, the extreme sad look they have when you have selected them and move your mouse and their morose head follows you kind of gets to me.
TS3 toddlers are worse, as their face seems more squashed and the neck is completely missing. And of course they tend to all look the same.
I truly agree about the XP / Vista analogy. :)

Pretty much everyone in TS3 looks pissed off.
"UGH WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME DO THIS."
"CAN I GO HOME NOW"
"THIS ISN'T ANY FUN."
"MUAHAHAHAHA DEATH. THAT WAS EXHAUSTING. I'M GOING."
Especially the kids. No fun here.

Show off
Talk to Ma's pregnant belly (they play peek-a-boo with the fetus! Is that the cutest thing ever, or what?)
Peek-a-boo with toddler
Any of the play options with dogs or cats
Winners and losers in rock-paper-scissors
Chess players, kneeling on the phone books
Even some of the ordinary animations they share with adults get extra oomph from being on kids or from circumstances. The only thing I ever wished I'd made a movie of was when Ernest Munny and his boy Frank were building a sandcastle together. They had run to the beach first thing before going to get vacation clothes, so Ernest was still in his Drama Acres clothes and I had deliberately dressed Frank - who is an alien but has many of Ernest's facial features - in a similar outfit, as Frank adores his Pa and wants to be Just Like HIm. (He can't - 0 neat points and 9 social points can't be like 8 neat points and 2 social, but I digress.) They built a sandcastle together, and first Ernest built some sand up, leaned back, rubbed his beard and hmmmd...and then Frank echoed him exactly, a little boy doing his best to be Just Like Pa.
And you ever have a kid just chat with a grownup? They get this puffed up serious look, and wag their fingers, like they're trying to impress people with their maturity, dignity, and knowledge!

"...play peek-a-boo with the fetus!"
Why does that sound more creepy than it should? :P
