TV screens show red crossed out screen with no video.

I've tried to locate any information on what it takes to properly add custom videos to the televisions in the game, and have only come up with a couple websites that vaguely describe the basics of importing video into the game. I really think that I have attempted to follow the simple instructions, but I still can not see custom video in the game. I understand that they need to be:

.avi file
128 x 128
15 fps

I have re-encoded a group of files to these parameters, and still can not see the videos in game. I see a red x through the screen, and the channel description in the background.

If anyone has any information or suggestions on what I am doing wrong, please advise!

You are trying to make a custom TV channel, or just add movies to existing channels?

Where are you putting your video files? You should use the ON6 codec for Sims 2.
