View Full Version : Thumbnail problem -- already tried cache clear and S3OC fix

A while ago I started what I thought would be a very simple project -- unlocking a couple of extra EA images in two of the paintings included with Pets and one with Generations. But though I can get the paintings to work properly in game (i.e., the different variants show up fine in the frames on the wall) the thumbnails will. not. change. They all still show the default first image, even though the painting, when placed, shows the new image on the wall.

I've cleared caches. I've tried fixing with S3OC as suggested by orangemittens in a different thread. Neither has worked.

I've tried manually swapping the images around with S3PE and have also tried with Texture Tweaker. Texture Tweaker was interesting, in that it showed that for the two paintings that came with Pets (paintingRanchTall and paintingRanchBig2x1), the default image is an overlay, but the other two "hidden" images are stencils. For the Generations painting (paintingGenAwkwardFamilyPhoto), all three images are stencils. I disabled/enabled the various stencils as appropriate to make the images show up on the wall, but it didn't help the thumbnails.

Every now and then I come back to this stupid little project, thinking I will figure out what the problem is, but I am ready to admit that I am stumped. Anyone know what might be causing this? (I am sure I have just forgotten to tick a box somewhere or something, and will feel like a total moron when all is said and done. ;)) Thanks for any and all help you can provide!

I don't know if it will fix the issue but that's what I would try if this was my painting.

Hi, orangemittens -- thanks for replying! I did exactly what you've suggsted for the paintings in Pets (in fact when I originally started working on this project I didn't know there was such a thing as Texture Tweaker, so I made all changes in S3PE the "old fashioned" way.) It changed the paintings, but not the thumbnails.

Doesn't work when I assign the overlays/turn off the stencils with TT either. The images are in the paintings when on the walls, but the thumbnails are unaffected.

Haven't tried it with the Generations one yet, but will try to see if it behaves any differently this weekend some time.

The issues you're having sound different though. Maybe if you posted it someone could look into what could be causing the problem.
