Hair glitches out, ctrl-click move doesn't work.

Sometimes in my game (most likely because of my cruddy graphics) I'll have a Maxis hair just glitch right out on me, so much so that it floods the screen and makes it completely gnarly. I try to use the famed batbox to fix it, but nothing. I also tried the fun move with ctrl-click that is supposed to refresh the thumbnail, but that does nothing. Am I out of luck, or is there something that can be done?

Turn your graphic down. Run less things in the background. Play in windowed mod. Play for less time per session. Keep your computer cool. Play with less EPs and SPs. Play with an earlier game engine (base game, University, or Nightlife, rather than FreeTime or Apartment Life).
