View Full Version : Remove Base Game Content

Question

I'd like to remove or if that is impossible overwrite/override some base game content.

I don't like a lot of the clothes that the base game came with, and then some of the ones expansions like World Adventures put in.

Is there a way I can delete base game clothing content from the game, so there's only a certain selection to choose from?

Or if not can I overwrite the base game content?

Nope, cannot remove content from game files without messing with future patches or other aspects of the game. You cannot delete them, just hide them from view. Even then, NPCs & Townies may still wear them if they are set for Random for CAS stuff.

I think MasterController has a feature to hide extra presets. Read the FAQs on this mod @NRAas site.

Or if you're the DIY type, you can do it yourself. This appear to work for hats (for the current time) - see Whiterider's Hat Hiders. So may take some study and experimentation on your part for other content type or for items in the Buy/Build catalog, see the Comments section of that download thread.

[eta]For Buy/Build stuff, you can try creating an Overrides mod for all the items you don't want to see, by cloning them in s3oc and just extracting all the OBJD resources into one .package with the catalog flag disabled (unchecked). I'm not sure if the same procedure works for CASP stuff, thus my point of you needing to do some experimentation. This, however may create some conflicts, if you have CC from a creator who happens to clone their stuff based on the same items you had disabled from view - the priority of the Overrides and Packages folder would then come into play and one would overwrite the other. Probably not though, come to think on it, the instances would have been renumbered.

[eta]You can also try WCIF (see under the Help menu) to ask if anyone knows of the existence of such Override mods that someone has already done for EA game content, not CC. If MasterController's feature does not meet your needs, that is.

[eta]Just stuff off the top of my head, so may not be true or makes sense...on 2nd thought, it may be better if you ask in the Create forum under Modding or if specific to just CAS, then the CAS subforum. If you have more questions, I mean. Not a lot of CAS creators hang out here to see your thread.

I can also move this thread over, if you want. If the above does not give you a clear picture of the situation, and you have more questions.
