Happy Mother's day to all Mommies! I just called mine and told her so. When she comes home in a few days, I have a late Mother's Day surprise planned for her. (My dad and I sent her on a vacation for a Mother's Day gift to a spa resort.)

It's been a pretty good one in my neck of the woods. I feel totally spoiled.

Lame Hallmark holiday designed to capitalize on your sense of guilt. Nothing more. You can recognize such holidays when you notice how you are expected to buy something. A holiday where you're expected to buy something is a manufactured Hallmark holiday designed to squeeze money out of you, not a real holiday.

Dang it! That one disagree'r is onto my lying ways.
The truth is I spent the whole day laboring in the hot sun. I fully intended to play the sims all day, but it never worked out. And I did not contact my own mother, because I felt no need to pay homage to an abusive woman...whose household I was physically removed from by the state once they found out what was up. The whole holiday causes an interesting inner turmoil with me each year. I am sure it does with anyone with mama issues. The reminder of it just rubs it in.
Today, though. Today is for the sims, and nobody can stop me.

I was just thinking to myself "have I gone mad? I'm sure we've already had it".

I'm a mom and a step-mom, so thank you. Relaxing is the last thing I get to do. My step-daughter got me a puppy, so I've been running off my feet! LOL :lovestruc
And though I'm late, I hope that all the moms out there had a very happy and special day.

You're two months too late, Americans! ;)Evidently they start late. By the time they get around to having Labour Day, it will be September or so. Then they put off Thanksgiving until November, so they have to rush rush rush to get Christmas in before the end of the year.
I don't know why they do it like that. Something to do with time zones, I think -- and just one more reason that I never could abide time zones.
(Perhaps I shouldn't criticize, though, speaking as someone who can use up most of an evening just doing "bathe until tranquil.")
