What is Maxis Match?

I keep reading about 'Maxis match' hair etc. What is it?

It's custom content that has the same cartoony maxis look. So, glossy realistic hair wouldn't be maxis match.

Like omglo said it´s custom content that match the maxis content. Many people prefer that while some want semi-maxis match or semi-realistic. I used to be the semi-realistic kind, but I´ve recently gone maxis match and now want maxis match skins, eyes, clothes and hair. Maxis match content really looks awesome IMO, but mostly I just feel it best suits my sims and the rest of their "world".

I think it is more than that usually. It is colors and patterns that match Maxis/EA SP and EP furniture and the like. A lot of the official stuff were kind of one offs. Windows did not match doors and so forth. People have made additional items to go with what were there.

It's usually used to mean content that seems like it "belongs" in the game. Stuff that, if you were to look at it, and didn't know it was user-created, you may actually believe it exists in the vanilla game.

Compare and contrast between a Maxis Match and a Pooklet of the Newsea Kiss Jasmine hair.

As you see, the Pooklet is more shinier and realistic, but if you don't want realistic, then you look for Maxis-match.

I have a mixture in my game, I just like anything pretty!
