View Full Version : Editing sims in CAS?

I just installed Generations and Pets at the same time, so I'm not sure which one it came with, but I found that I can now edit my sims in CAS. I went in and changed one of my sim's traits (I wanted to check out one of the new ones) and I noticed when I came back out, my sim's age was reset and she had lost the lifetime rewards I had gotten for her. So, my question is... was that supposed to happen? I guess it was kind of good, in a way, because I've been looking forward to Generation and now she can have more kids, but it still kind of took me by surprise. Thanks for any answers. :)

Use the 'modify traits for active sim' cheat instead of the Edit in CAS if you just want to switch the traits and lifetime wishes, or if you encounter the bug where age-up traits don't stick to the sim.

The way I look at it, it seems editing in CAS cheat seems to work like create-a-household, which treats the edit as if you were creating the sim for the first time.

In fact, NEVER use the "edit in CAS" command to modify a trait or the age, it can wreck your game because some infos pertaining to your sim are now either missing or either duplicated. If you can you should even load an earlier save before your edit.

The only reason I edited the traits in CAS was to kind of test it out (there wasn't really anything else I wanted to edit, and I wanted to check it out). I'll know not to do that next time! Thanks :)
