Okay. First things first: This is my first 'Serious' world, so I am very much a noob creator. If you see me doing something extremely wrong or terribly, please tell me so. I probably don't know better. I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be posting here.
"Small" mental back-story: The Town of Indigo Hill was once a small, peaceful village resting on the hills and cliffs. However, it didn't stay that way. Due to silly things like expansion, modernization, cheap land and a boom for temperate-weather resorts and cottages, most of the land was bought off by a aspiring business-man who went by the name of 'Burgundee'. He modernized the land and reshaped it to fit his views of the world; he flattened many of the hills and reshaped a few cliffs. He renamed the town from the depressing name of 'Crying Mountain' to 'Indigo Hill' after one of the only hills remaining (after he was through with them). The town boomed, he sold quite a lot of his land for quite large sums and everyone was happy. He even built himself a manor overlooking the city-sized town, and lived most of his life there. However, his get-rich-quick scheme started to die. People realized that mountains don't give suntans and the hottest parts of the world returned to the favor of the vacationing public. The town slowly shrank, the outer buildings standing empty and abandoned as everyone left. Burgundee still had his money, though, so he decided to breathe life back into the town. Before he could do any such thing, however, most of the human race died out (because of an incident with an air-borne supervirus, a bee and an extra-stretchy silly band). Now the town stands rotting, serving as home for a few of the remains of the decimated human race. (I have a whole story for them, too, but now's not the time.)
Actual description: I'm basing the cliffs off of the parts of the Canadian Shield that you see from the highway. I.e., the parts bulldozed through. That's partially why I decided on a temperate climate, too, although it's not going to be all pines... I'm currently still on the sculpting stage, but I do have a few roads laid out where and as I imagine them. There's a small island that's going to be bridged to the mainland.
Inside the U-shaped cliffs is the actual town: destroyed houses, overrun rabbitholes, etc. On the outskirts, there's going to be the Manor, the Science building (hand-built, since I'm not planning to have rabbitholes. Where does a grocery store get groceries at the end of the world? Also, rabbit holes spawn rabbits. Well, homeless.) a forest near the 'crying mountain' (I imagined the mountain to have a lake on top, but I don't know is that's possible without putting a lot around it) and a few destroyed cabins.
Now, since I've been talking too much, I'll just ask for any post-apo road textures you may have (overrun with grass and so on) and if you can suggest the proper way to paint the cliffs, and possibly terrain paints. I think, that since this is a temperate climate, I can do with a minimum of outside terrain paints. Suggestions are still taken into consideration though!
> If you don't mind my asking, would someone installing a world need to also install the terrain paints?
Once again, I'm a noob. If I do something wrong, feel free to shove it into my face and force me to fix it. I'll probably be grateful. Below is a picture of what I have. I haven't even finished the cliffs yet. :faceslap:
It's a medium sized world, height 300. I think I might have overdone it with the height. :L If I forgot something, I can add it. I'm going to need to find out how to do distant terrain for medium-sized, or at least this world. Did I mess everything up by not thinking of that first?
EDIT:
Forgot the pictures. :giggler:
