View Full Version : Going back and forth between wanting Sims 3 or re-buying Sims 2 to replace broken game.

The price raised overnight from affordable to not affordable. (literally a $10 difference) I planned to buy sims 3 used but I disagree with everything EA stands for. Since Maxis made Sims 2 I would buy it with no worries. I'm not really sure what I'll do. I might still by the game but I sure as hell won't buy it from EA. They aren't getting one cent from me.

There are several threads where people debate the relative merits of Sims 2 vs. Sims 3. You might find them helpful in deciding which one gives you more bang for the buck.
However, if you buy Sims 2, then you will be giving EA more than a cent. It doesn't matter where you buy it, EA gets something from the distributor.

not if I buy it used. Technically the first person payed EA but I wouldn't.

To be honest every game company is just as bad as EA, trust me. Capcom for example, on one game, had all the DLC for the game already on the disc when you bought it, then you paid THEM to 'unlock' it for you. It's like you paying for all the expansion packs on a disc then paying for the ability to play them individually. That's corruption.

Plus ... you're ONE person. EA has millions of customers. You do not make a difference in that regard. At all.

So this means that you don't even have TS3 and TS2? correct me in if I'm wrong. I paid 50€ for TS3 (bought online), I paid 60€ for TS2 (bought in a shop) and you think 30 dollars is expensive? Just like someone else stated in your other thread EA doesn't set Amazon prices.
Sorry but I feel like you've been making thread just to show how much you hate EA when I can't see what they've done to you. Sorry

I will not discourage any single person from voting with his wallet. Enough people voting with their wallets can let EA know that we don't like the direction that they are taking the game. One person alone makes no difference to EA, but if that one person can get 10,000 people to do the same thing it will make a difference. Go ahead and vote with your wallet. Please. (It might also inspire EA to re-think this whole thing about the social networking linked to the game. :) )

Although this might be a little off-topic, What you should do is stop being biased toward Maxis, and enjoy all of The Sims games regardless of pricing and developer.

EA bought Maxis in 1997. It doesn't matter which Sims game you buy, EA will get the money.

What you need to do is stop being biased toward The Sims 2, and learn to enjoy both gamesNonsense. There's nothing wrong with preferring Sims 2. No one has to play Sims 3 if they don't want to.
It's definitely cheaper to enjoy one game or the other.

Agreed! I used to play Sims 2, bought Sims 3 when I got a new laptop, then recently started playing Sims 2 again, which required me to rebuy some of the EP's and SP's. If I ever actually worked out how much money I've spent on Sims games over the years (I used to play the original Sims as well) I'd probably die of shock!
So I don't work it out - I just enjoy the games :-)

Me, too. Sim 1, all expansions. Sims 2 New computer, all expansions. Now Sims 3. And a new computer to play it on. Just haven't gotten Showtime yet. Yep! Just enjoy the game. Don't add up the costs. But it wouldn't be as much fun without the fabulous creators on MTS.

I think you misunderstood the entire context of my post.
Re-edited that post.
