Basically, I've always played in pleasantview neighbourhood, because that's the one I thought looked the nicest when starting, and I've just kind of stuck around because I'm too attached to my families to switch.
But, I'm growing increasingly tired of how poorly designed it is. Or perhaps it's me who screwed up the landscape earlier when knowing less, but either way, it's ridiculously hard to find flat areas for lots, or just place lots at all. I would also like to have the possibility to place beach lots, which for obvious reasons isn't possible.
So, I'm starting to think about switching neighbourhood altogether. But I want to take my families with me, which I know is difficult. I'm aware that you shouldn't move occupied lots, and that I need to do quite a lot of sim-cleaning if I want to keep things like relationships.
As this is going to be A LOT of work, I want to be sure the things I want to do are actually doable before starting. Don't fancy doing it only to find out it did not work.
1. Using the method listed in the tutorial on sims wiki, do they keep their family tree?
2. In the tutorial, it's stated more than once that you need to remove memories of all sims that doesn't live in the lot. But, I want to move the whole branch of the family. This would be 4 generations, with a total of 10-15 sims. A bunch of sub-questions.
A) If I clean all of them, and keep only memories/relations with the people I'm moving, and place all of them in lots in the new neighbourhood before playing any of them, would that work? Or does it risk corrupting neighbourhood when placing the first family?
B) If the above does not work, would it work to get a hack to increase family limit, and simply throw all of them into one big household?
C) If none of my above work, is there any way to do this? I want them to remember each other and keep their relationships.
3. Neighbourhoods made by people here on MTS, are they required to be flat where lots are meant to be placed? It'd suck to do all this only to realize they have equally wonky terrain.
4. If I sell their businesses and vacation homes, and move those to the house bin unoccupied, would it be risk-free to place those in the new neighbourhood? I imagine it is, but just to be sure.
5. Less importantly, the stay-things shrub from simlogical, does it apply to EVERYTHING or only buy objects? I imagine I'd have to move things like career and aspiration rewards to their catalog.
I think that sums it up, if I think of anything else I suppose I'll add it later. Fingers crossed this is actually doable, I'm sick of pleasantview but I can't bring myself to abandon my families.
