View Full Version : Malcom Landgrab IV What did you do with him in your game?

I heard he spawns ugly children so who did you pair him up with if you did pair him up at all? How did the kids look?
Did he keep his businesses or sell them?
What have you had him own?
Did he stay in his house or did you relocate him?

He has one son by Strangetown's Kristen Loste in my game, who has his eyebrows but otherwise looks mostly like her. Malcolm V is a Fortune sim like both of his parents and has a laid-back, mommy-and-daddy's-money attitude towards life. He doesn't have to work and doesn't particularly want to work, either. He's a nice kid, though. Since their house is sort of lacking in rooms despite its sprawling size, I decided to have them wait until Malcolm V is off in college before they have another. I'm hoping they have a daughter because I definitely want to see what those eyebrows and other features look like on a girl.
Club Dante is ...well, he hired the Hula Zombies to redecorate the place and quickly discovered that the twins are only good at two things: 1) dancing the hula 2) fawning over the Grim Reaper and his kin. To say it's merely unsuccessful is a kindness. He tried operating a clothing store in addition to his electronics business, but that's floundering as well. He's basically realized that the Bluewater Villagers are rather tightfisted with their own cash and the tourists from Strangetown are more interested in spreading gossip and picking fights than they are in spending money.
Kristen, however, is a famed superstar athlete so she's the primary breadwinner. Malcolm keeps the Landgraab "brand" going (making friends and bringing the family's Reputation up), though, which has become his full-time job. He provides the image and she provides the income.

And yes, some people claim that he (sometimes) spawns ugly kids.

Man seems like not too long ago he was still alive in my game. :P
He married another townie who's first name was Mona. They married and had twins Malcolm V and Myra. Malcolm V looked exactly like his father and Myra just had a horrible mix of genes lol. I notice that they do however look really creepy when at the toddler/children but don't look so bad when they grow into their face and given a makeover as a teenager.
I played around with him by trying out different businesses when I first got the game but the only one that made really good profit was the store so he sold the rest. For the most part they stayed in that house (I remodeled it anyway) and then later moved to more simple one. Then his son moved into right out of college and lived there for a while before moving into a bigger one since he had a family. So now I just pretend its a property the Landgraabs own and if their kids feel like it they can move into it.
I have pictures of IV's son but not his daughter (she passed) and I can post pictures later of all of V's kids as well :)
Edit: I couldnt get the picture of his son (V) but I didn't get some of V's children. Their mother is Meadow Thayer by the way.

I keep hearing about Malcolm's "ugly" kids, which makes me want to bring him into my game; but the actual pictures I've seen are disappointingly ordinary. Many people have much too narrow ideas of beauty for their opinions to do others any good.

I agree with Peni, *presses the agree button*, since these ugly people are the first way in order to have some variation. Listen to Peni above ^^^, or else you will end up with children that only look like models, which is not realistic and boring.
Having "ugly" children, which are not, once they gradually grow up, will get you generations filled with facial variations.
Some people claim that they stop playing certain aspects of the game due to sims looking like each other. People, we are providing you with ways to do so. So, I'd say, marry him or ditch him in eternal limbo.
For example, some of my townies and npcs that are generated in Townie Place have the facial structure with the largest lip, I think its the fourth template in CAS, the reason why I use it is because I noticed that some of my in-game born sims are looking somewhat like each other, well, two only, for now. Yes, I understand that there is some exaggeration in how these faces look like, but with time, they will be balanced out. No worries!

You guys are right, I guess he's not 'hideous' (there are certainly worse townies in the game lol) but the angry brow he has isn't attractive :D At least that's my opinion :)
Bwinney43
15th Jun 2012, 03:46 PM
I don't think he's hideous but the eye brows get on my nerves. I don't like extreme facial features at all and to me, those are extreme.
In my game I believe I married him to some townie and she had his child. I really don't remember much because I stopped playing him. Sims that have tons of money really bore me. They never have to want for anything in their lives. I like when my sims have to work for their money and create financial security for themselves.
So now he's just sitting in his huge mansion in Bluewater village. Untouched like the rest of those sims. I realized how much I hate that sub-hood and I regret attaching it to my neighborhoods.

I've married him off and had his first child come out looking like him, the next child was more attractive.
If you create a Sim to marry off to him, adjust her features to make up for Malcolm's.
One time he had a son, then twin daughters, the son looked just like him, and the girls were actually pretty good-looking.

Way back in the day, when I first started playing, I was on a mission to perpetuate the Smith and Terrano alien bloodlines so as to make it possible for aliens to intermarry. So Chloe Smith (Singles) was recruited to have three children, all by different fathers.
One of the fathers was Malcolm, whom I'm not even sure I knew was a playable at the time. I thought he looked interesting and thus actively sought his genetics. His and Chloe's son, Ethan, got the eyebrows, but I loved them!
This is not to say I haven't seen pics of some of Malcolm's offspring on which the eyebrows did not suit, but the brows in and of themselves are not a problem, in my opinion. They just need the right face. :lovestruc

I never had luck with my kids re Malcolm. For some really strange reason, they wound up with really long noses ... it wasn't a brow problem with me. Not large noses ... long noses! And I've played him a few times in various incarnations of my neighborhoods with different custom Sims, so it doesn't seem to be a fluke.
But in all fairness, with just a touch of plastic surgery (my rule is to never alter more than one to two ticks in any direction, unless the Sim really looks freaky), they look OK. Still have the long nose, but at least they don't look like Simmish versions of a proboscis monkey.
i can't figure that out. Malcolm's nose doesn't seem very long to me. I probably paired him with longer-nosed Sims.
Also, the eyes always looked strange, as if the kid put heavy eye shadow around them. Fortunately, a trip to the makeup table fixed that.
When I play him, I pretty much play him conservatively up to his top job position. He does marry in each game. He's quite a playboy, though, even after marriage. The money has gone to his head, I'm afraid.

You know those premades that come with OFB? The brother and sister who "just want to party" or something?
Yeah, well the sister married Malcom in some plot where she could steal his money to party. She moved in, and their faces promptly glitched.
Haven't really touched them since.

Currently in my Desiderata Valley I have Malcolm married off to the daughter of Ashley Pitts, her name is Courtney. Courtney's mom is a born-in-game Sim, the daughter of Cyd and Tara (Kat) Roseland. Courtney's pregnant and I have yet to play that 'hood again so I can see what the child looks like. I'll be sure to post pictures--but it'll likely be in the "What's happening in your game right now?" section.
There are times when I sell off Malcolm's businesses, other times when I actually run them, but I always build him a new house. I don't feel like remodeling his house, which I feel is a big house with a lot of nothing. I'm seriously considering having him and Courtney buy a community lot or two, while her parents, who live with them, have their pension (they're retired--Ashley from Athletic and Cara from Culinary, wow, alliteration!) coming in.
I had changed Ashley's aspiration to Fortune, Cara's Popularity, and Malcolm and Courtney are both Fortune, so that'll help with the stock market (Fortune aspiration benefit). Since Courtney, her twin Ashley Jr., and her parents all have Sports as their OTH, maybe they can open up a sporting goods/fitness store.

When I first started playing Sims 2, I had one of my CAS, Millicent, marry him. They had four kids, because they kept producing girls: Maddison, Melissa, Magnolia, and Malcolm V. Two of them were clones because of firstborn syndrome. They were homely, but weren't complete gonks. The eldest, Maddison, married paperboy Derek Vijiyakar and had a girl named Wisteria, and I think they also had a boy I forgot the name of. Melissa married childhood friend Hughes Percival, and they had a little girl. Magnolia just entered college, so she wasn't married yet, but she was into girls. Malcolm V was a teen, and he impregnated one of the local teens. Then my game crashed due to corruption. Sigh.
My most recent incarnation of Malcolm Landgraab IV married Jodie Larson (a popular hookup, it appears), and they have twins. A boy named Malcolm, and a girl named Pamela. In my mind, even though Malcolm V is hideous, his dad favors him over his sister. I don't really play their household as much as I play Jodie's brother's household. He's more fun to play.

I somewhat agree, but I had to do something with her. I can't have her hanging while her brother gets all the love.
Her face is a bit squarish, which is hidden by her default hairstyle. I typically use hairstyles that hide her face.

Sometimes the Jacquets do too. Their memories are screwed up...Denise always rolling a fear of catching her dead husband cheating.

Have you tried unconnecting Denise from her husband in SimPE?
One of EAxis' screw ups is that Denise and her husband were not properly disconnected after he died.
They still have the marriage tags checked in SimPE.

Malcolm Landgraab appears in SimCity 3000 as a sleazy land developer (http://lparchive.org/SimCity-3000/Update%206/48-0540.gif), so I don't bother letting Malcolm IV run the small businesses. Instead, he joins the Business or Criminal Mastermind careers and tries to marry into a "good" (wealthy & respectable) family of the neighborhood: in Pleasantview, this meant marrying Angela Pleasant; in Verona, he married Beatrice Monty. This was when they were young adults, of course.

In the few times I played the Landgrabb household I put Malcolm into th wringer. First time he meet a cas made Sim fell head over heels and they popped out 10 nice enough looking kids. The second time he bachelored it up, and ended up with 6 illegitimate children, all dumped into his house as teens for him to deal with (they all hated him). On the last time he got married, cheated on and left with a baby to take care of after breaking up with the gold digger of a wife. He's quite fun to play, and I enjoy reinventing him in each neighbourhood.

I really wish I kept pictures of my Malcolm twins. As someone who loves sims with 'character', these two were actually ugly as in 'whoa, I didn't know the sliders could even go that far'.
I usually don't play Malcolm, but I love having him in the background. When I do, I re-do his bar (because I hate how it's set up) and put him in the criminal career.

I just had him marry a sort-of-born-in-game Sim (created her as a child with her parents). At their wedding party he rolled a want for Have First WooHoo, so they went into her parents' tent (both her parents are nature fanatics) and proceeded to conceive twins. Malcolm V and Melinda.

Me neither. . .but I did use Malcolm Landgraab in an indirect way in my 'hood.
I wanted to have the Landgraab name and genetics around, so I cloned Malcolm and used the pacifier to combine his genetics with a CAS sim. I had to roll alot to get sims with decent appearance--his eyes do not work on female sims, they're too stretched out at the bottom, so that makeup put on them looks ridiculous, and I'm not a fan of his jaw and lips on female sims either. In the end, Malcolm V has his father's jaw and lips (which look good on male sims if you give them a beard) and his sister mostly looks like their mother--the only thing I can tell that she inherited from Malcolm is his chin.

I have the same with one of his sons in my game, I've given him longish, floppy hair though which seems to hide it a bit.
The first time I played Malcolm he got struck by lightening, caught fire and died. So I got one of my CAS sims to bring him back as a zombie and he lived quite happily like that till the hood borked.
This time round he's married to a CAS sim, Helvetica Wainscotting, and they have two sons, Courier and Serif. Not sure if I'd describe them as ugly, but they are a little odd looking. To be fair, that doesn't only come from Malcolm, Helvetica is not what you'd call classically beautiful - I tend to make sims with interesting faces rather than drop dead gorgeous ones. Malcolm's business didn't do particularly well, so I sold it and bought a grocers which makes a small profit, and combined with Helvetica's income as a dancer they live quite a comfortable life.

Malcolm is still single in my game. I will probably get him involved with Dina (Caliente) Goth since she's a widow now. I don't think I will let him have any kids, but it's not because of the way he looks. It's because I have so many families, that I am trying to limit the amount of sims who are having kids. I don't think Malcolm is necessarily ugly. He is kind of goofy looking though. His eyes and his eyebrows make him look like he's always angry. I suppose he's meant to look that way, considering he's supposed to be a greedy, rich person. So far I sent him to his nightclub once, but it didn't go well, so I haven't sent him back there since. Now that I have read more about running business, I will probably send him back there. I want to build up his skills and have him make some more friends first, before I send him there again. I haven't done anything with his other businesses yet.

Picturesque.
