View Full Version : In what ways are the vampires "revamped" in Supernatural?

Has anyone figured out how they changed the vampires?

I believe this subject is covered quite extensively in the current Supernatural thread.

I just noticed the (unintentional) pun. The vampires are being "revamped."
Ha ha ha... I have the stupidest sense of humor.

Having just scrolled back about 20-25 pages in a 40 page thread, I have found references to vampires, and speculations, but no definite description as to how the vampires will be different. There are a couple pictures, but the status of vampires in this EP looks vague so far. They look a bit different in the pictures, but as to why is not really explained unless I need to go back another 15-20 pages.
So to answer the original poster's question: I don't think there has been an official announcement as to how the vampires will be different, and I don't think anyone has really figured out how they will be different.
I also think that when a question is posted, if someone reads the question and knows the answer the polite thing to do is to answer it. Once a thread reaches the status of being 35-40 pages long, it can be difficult to find the answer to a question even if you think it may be there.

I was very polite in my response, and pointed the OP to a thread that has all the known info we have on the subject. If something was posted in there, why re-tread old material, when all it will lead to is speculations that have already been covered in a different post?

The point is that in a very long thread, the information may be difficult to find and for newcomers to the site a quick response to the poster's question would be more helpful, followed with mention of the thread where it is discussed in more detail. However, as I mentioned in my perusal of the thread, I did not really find an answer to the poster's question.
To make an analogy: Someone poses a question about some aspect of US History, say a specific battle in the Civil War, and another person knows the answer to the question. Instead of answering the question, that person very politely points to the library and informs the information seeker that there is a whole section on history on the second floor. Answering the question and then telling how to find more information is more helpful.
This site has always had a reputation of being helpful. I would not like to see that change.

Love it. Wouldn't put it past EA to add this to the game. some modder may decide to do this. Doesn't the "eye candy" lifetime reward give the sims a sparkle? I don't remember for sure since I think that is why I never buy it.

I'm hoping that the vamps are gonna be a lot darker in this game, in the IGN article, they were saying how werewolves can "protect" human sims from the vampires; so maybe they're going to be a lot more dangerous now

I hope that the vampires are more vampiric than they were lat night.

What I'd like is more stuff to do at night. I don't think that the vampires themselves needs revamping (no pun intended).
I mean, vampires are night creatures and have penalties when they go out in the sun, yet there are no night jobs, few people around and basically the whole city sleeps after the bars close. You can't even visit fellow vampires at their home or call them on the phone because "'it's too late, wait till the morning". That's stupid.

Possibly the Werewolf LTR "Alpha Wolf", which will allow a werewolf to bite anyone, will have a Vampire version? No more having to befriend your victims before nomming down would be a pretty nice improvement.

How very helpful.. For a sec, I thought this was MATY.
Internet forums.. It is (or should be) a given that people will post innumerable posts on the same topic/subject found elsewhere on the same site the question is posed.
You could have said the exact same thing, and included a link to the thread you mention.. sort of a 'hey, this information is already being discussed, here <link>"
MTS2 is a site covering many age groups, and while I would expect adults (or even mature teens) to realize doing a search beforehand is the best way to find information, I also realize we have 'kids' here that haven't learned that yet.
So is it so hard to try to be helpful? Especially considering there are several Supernatural threads.. which one would you be referring to?

Nah, that's pretty much what the LN Vamps are already.. I mean, really.. walking around in daylight.. and having to ask to 'feed'? Puh-leeze... lol
I doubt it'll happen, but I keep seeing 'wants' consisting of returning to the Sims 2 version of vamps where sunlight will kill your Sim.. and being able to bite without permission.
The details haven't been released yet, so we're still all just guessing. I'm hopeful that the dev chat today will give some info on the new vamps.
I do think that with the modding community we have, since the werewolves with the "alpha wolf" bene can bypass the 'permission to bite' ... even if the developers don't give that ability to the vamps, the modders will be able to.
:P

PeacePlease, I have been on MATY, and their responses are much more profane and obscenity laced. But that is besides the point. However I will say that the OP knew very well what post I was referring to, as they have posted on that thread many times. Plus, I was under the impression that the thread titled "Things I have Heard about (whatever EP/SP) were the 'official" threads for each expansion. And I do try to be helpful. I reiterate, The OP asked a question, and I told them where they could find an answer that included everything that has been confirmed/speculated about the Supernatural expansion. Sorry I didn't post a link. But I will not apologize for being rude, or unhelpful, since my post was neither. It did not insult anyone, it did not contain rude language, it answered the question that was asked. Already, this thread has turned from it's original question, and some became a commentary on whether my post was "helpful" enough for some people's tastes. Can't please everyone, I guess.

I'll give that there were no rude words in your post, but you don't seem to realize that part of answering a question with not only the answer but a link is because of, as stated previously, other people will "stumble" across your post, have no earthly idea what thread you are speaking about, and create a new topic to ask...
I agree, you were not 'rude' ... but I still argue that you weren't particularly helpful either. And you are absolutely correct in that you cannot please everyone.
Peace

I think what ea have done is make vampires all have pale skin and red eyes if they have been spwaned from the game but I am not ceratain. one thing is for certin that vampires are going to look different when we create in cas.

Most younger people aren't going to skim through a 40 page thread to look for a quick blurb about how the vampire's have been rebooted. Get your panties out of a wad, it's just a gaming forum.

I hope the vampires eyes would be a bright unnatural shade of blue or yellow with huge pupils. Possibly the whites of the eyes should be black. Maybe I'm just weird, but I prefer that to red eyes. And their skin should be slightly more see-through so you can kind of see their veins almost perfectly and have a few burst blood vessels. Maybe with a terrible circulation look like they need human blood or they can't get oxygen from their blood correctly. And fangs that are more needle shaped. Something weird like that.

it's like when we had the pets thread and then there was a thread of what you heard about unicorns even if pets post covered lot of that subject. I personally like having dedicated threads on certain new EP feature rather than skimming through over 40 pages thread trying to gather the bits scattered here and there of whats been told about werewolves, unicorns or vampires ect :bunny:

From the Forum Follow-up Q&A: (http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/345/551730.page#8820671)
3 - Will vampires from Late Night be retconned or will there be two varieties of vampires for those who have both expansion packs?
Answer – The vampires are the same Sim type as the ones in Late Night with additional visual options and new ways to intimidate, so you won’t see two varieties in your game if you already own Late Night. And of course a big difference is that you can now just create vampires and change the way they look right from the start in Create A Sim.
I was really hoping for vampires that could change their form.

I agree.. but that was how they were handled in TS2.. I've actually seen 'requests' that they return to that for the 'revamped' vamps in Supernatural.
It wouldn't make sense (to me) for them to do that with the whole CAS thing.. but EA does things all the time that doesn't make sense to me... lol

So, the end result is we have three, and four, and five 40 page threads all speculating on the same question...
Just sayin'
Moderators frequently redirect people back to the thread that contains the information a new thread is looking for, that's typically how forums stay helpful.

I like the idea of subforums. If there is only one forum speculating on a new Expansion Pack, then there will be multiple subjects in that forum. it becomes tantamount to having multiple threads in one thread, disrupting the flow of ideas, since one post will discuss one aspect and the next post may address something different.. Since there are more ideas and reports out there now, it is not such a bad idea to have this new EP have its own category now so that different aspects can be discussed in their own threads, which may keep the threads from becoming so long that they are daunting for a newcomer to the site or thread.
