View Full Version : Beside myself...Why Won't Worlds/Maps show up/Install?

I am running a MacBook Pro (late 2011). Everything is up to date.

I have no big issues installing custom worlds that are ONE file (double click and it installs), but when there is more than one part or it is a single/simple map, it just isn't showing up in the game.

For the multiple parts, I do what the instructions say.....open first file and then once it starts (install), it will prompt for the second. It used to on Windows for me, but not now. The first one just opens with the launcher and then when it "finishes", I get the FAILED notification.

Am I unable to install worlds that have two parts on a Mac? Or maybe I need to do something differently?

ALSO...with just the maps. Instructions state to put the Sims3 file in the SAVE folder and they should show up in game.

Nope. Not going on there, either. I've cleared cache files and all of that. Aside from this issue, game runs pretty darn smooth (aside from maybe some other quirky things I have yet to figure out, but nothing that impacts game play).

Any help would be appreciated. I've scoured the help sections here and searched online for a few weeks now with no luck. :( :help:

For the multi part files, you don't open the parts with the Launcher- you open them with your archive utility. Which archive utility are you using on your Mac?

For the Save files, you need to have the world installed that the save uses, and you also need to have your game patched to at least the same version as the file creator.

I am using the unarchiver to open things.....I don't get any prompt while opening so I just double click on the file. :| Would another app do better at this do you think?

As far as the maps go, I thought I had the original files for the worlds (empty Riverview, for example), but I will go back and check!

All patched up....always keep up to date (within a few days of release).

OH! Which reminds me of another weird thing. I installed Ambitions a while ago, but in the launcher, it doesn't show it is installed (the bottom icons) yet some of the specialized items that are in the EP are completely showing up in game!! Strange, no??

Appreciate the help!!!!!

This may help you with the multi part files:

I'll give it a whirl! OH..and the map things......LOL I was looking in the DROP DOWN area when "starting new game" and not in the actual "SAVES" going horizontally across of previous games. DUH! Good grief. Where's my head?

Thank you!!!!!!!
