View Full Version : The Broke Family... broken! Family won't load.

Hey guys,

I'm having some trouble trying to load the Broke family in Pleasantview. When I click on their house to play them, it takes me to the loading screen (like it always does), however the loading doesn't stop. It just stays on the loading screen with the cursor rotating into the timer and neighbourhood music playing. I don't get any error messages, it just won't let me enter the house at all.

Although, I think I may know why this has happened;

It was Dustin birthday and I decided to have a party. Dustin grew up into an adult, but I also wanted Angela Pleasant to age up with him, so I switched to the Pleasant family and aged her up. I invited Dustin into the Pleasant family, moved him in and moved Dustin and Angela into a new home to start a new family, however I didn't realise that the birthday party in the Broke household was still going on. I went to the neighbourhood screen and noticed Dustin was still in the Broke family picture when I click on the house, even though I moved him out.

So I'm guessing moving him out while the birthday party was still going on messed up the Broke family? Is there anything I can do to fix the Broke family so I can play them again?

Here's what I would try. This assumes that you have a backup of the Broke lot at a reasonable point.
1) Backup your existing save game.
2) Copy just the Broke lot from your backup into your existing save game.
3) Try loading the Broke lot and see what happens.

4) If that doesn't work, then restore from the backup in step 1.
5) Move the Broke family out of the lot into the family bin.
6) Copy just the Broke lot from your backup into your existing save game.
7) Try loading the Broke lot and see what happens.

Thank you! You solved the problem!

I didn't have a backup, but I did Step 5 and I placed the lot back where it was, and it fix the problem! The family lost their relationships with the neighbours, but that doesn't bother me.

Thanks again!

If the family lost their relationships with their neighbors, then I'm afraid that you did something wrong. Did you move the occupied lot into the lot bin, rather than moving the family into the family bin? If so, you have corrupted your neighborhood and you should restore from the backup that you made in step 1.

The thing is I never had a backup of a recent save at a reasonable point for the Broke family, which is why I just had to move them (as an occupied lot) into the lot bin.

The neighbourhood is running perfectly normal, and I tested out the other lots in Pleasantview also. I have no problem trying to gain the relationships the Broke family once had. The relationships Brandi has with her sons have stayed the exact same. :)

You've corrupted your neighborhood. You may not see the effects of the corruption for some time, but your neighborhood is now corrupt. That's why it's a good idea to backup your save game first.

You'll probably want to read this:

:faceslap:

I'll read that link and see if there's anything I can do to help my problem then. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's too late to fix the corruption, unless you made the backup in step 1.

These last few days have most certainly not been the best! Ah well. I've noticed the Billy Broke who is a child, having adult wishes such as "Learn Couples Counselling", which is definately a sign of corruption, and I noticed some Sims glitching out which I've never seen.

Well I guess I'll download go a clean Pleasantview and I'll recreate the house and family and hopefully testingCheatsEnabled will help me too. :P

Thanks for all the help Mootilda, if it wasn't for you I would have still been playing a corrupted neighbourhood!
