Well this has been going on for three or two days now and I cant seem to find an answer, even IN the wiki help. So I will state my issue below, if you need my system specs I will gladly put them in on edit, but I don't think they are needed until someone lets me know.

Well after Sims 2 has been freezing on me like forget it, I decided to just uninstall, as much as I hate to and such. Maybe that's cause I'm a lazy fatty? Oh well. Anyway. The issue before was the percentage stopped like 57% or 67%, can't quite remember, and also I can't remember the full name of the issue but it says like. "Can't transfer file." And said something with N001, and I don't remember what it was for, most likely a neighborhood number? Anyway.. than it turned to something else, stopping at 57% and saying.

"A problem occured when trying to transfer the file
'E:\Base\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N001\Lots\N001_Lot1.package' from the media.

Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?"

So of course after searching online I saw someone said something similar and kept hitting retry, and it eventually worked, but not for this gal. It wants to be a total fat cow. I don't see any scratches, dust, or fingerprints on my disc. Or any dust in my CD/DVD drive thing.. what could it be? A bad file?..

Regardless of how clean you think the disk is just looking at it, cleaning the disk is the first recommendation for this issue. http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Install

Just do it, for goodness' sake. It's a lot easier to help people who DO the recommended things rather than insist that the recommendation doesn't apply to them or can't work, for whatever reason.

I once had this issue with installing AL. The disk looked absolutely pristine, but I cleaned it anyway, with soap and water, nonetheless. It worked.

Well if you want me to do it I will, but I don't feel safe using soap, so is it okay if I just use water?

I don't know. If there's any grease on the disk, water wouldn't do any good. So if you can't bring yourself to use soap, I'd recommend the dry method of using a soft cloth that's very clean and free of anything that could scratch the disk. Check that article for a visual on how to do this, and how NOT to, in terms of the direction in which you wipe the disk.

ETA: The article says submerging the disk in warm water without soap is fine. Comments about the soft cloth and how to use it still apply, since you'll need to dry it off.

ETA2: You wouldn't have needed anyone to tell you any of this if you'd thoroughly read the article for yourself, by the way. *ahem

Thanks for letting me know, and I did read the article, it just didn't look like there was any dirty things, or smudges, or even scratches.
