View Full Version : tutorial for making split level on the 2nd floor or higher

This is how I make split level on the upper floors of homes. It's really easy to follow and is explained simply with pictures to illustrate each step.

Theres a word doc tutorial and a html file. Both are packaged with Winrar, so you'll need that to unpack!

Hope it helps!

Edit:- Forgot to add this to the tutorial!! In the part where I say to add connecting stairs to the raised split level, you can instead, add walls to make a raised room, then add a door. Adding the door will automatically add a floortile to enable you to add connecting stairs to that.
If you want open plan split levels, do it as in the tutorial, but if you want rooms, add walls and doors before the stairs!

Edit:
yes!!!!! exactly what i'd worked out except i hadn't put floor tiles on the raised area.......doh :D

Thankyou Jonesi :D

Edit: this edit deleted and re-edited because i am dumb, but also suffering from the flu. my excuse and i'm sticking to it

this has worked a treat :D

I have tried to download this file, but it says the server has an internal error. Is there another place to download this from. Several of your other tutorials have the same problem. I am really interesting in trying these out.

I've just tested all my tutorials by downloading them all and they all download fine for me...maybe it was a site problem, but it's one I ain't got :) Anyone else having a problem with this?

ORU1990,

Maybe you were downloading at the resetting moments... So, probably save up the links to the dls or bookmark them, and try to dl them a while later. You may want to avoid to dl things at the start of an hour, which can be the resetting moment....

Thanks for the tutorial...Makes a very nice look.

Though it is still playable as 2 different floors. As we stand on the higher floor of the split, we can't see the objects on the lower floor, but we can still see the sims standing there. Is there a code so we can see the objects on both floors ?? OR can we arrange it so it plays like one single floor, only with stairs...??

Or did I do something wrong...

Thanks

An easier way to get it level, than 12 clicks, is to just add a peice of foundation next to the guide walls. This will lower them to the right height.

I tried to remove the boolprop cheat and whenever I try to remove foundation from a house that has no split level it creates a sloped floor. . . has anyone had this problem???

I tried to download your tutorial but WinRar says that there is an unexpected end to the archive and it wouldn't open it or extract the files.

Hey,
I have a question... I saw your Winter Snowy Roof 1 bed upload. But your roof are very 'low'. I'm trying to get exactly such a low roof as in these pictures, but all I get is those ridiculous high roofs. Did you do that with this split-level-thing? Please let me know, cause the high pointy roofs are driving me crazy xD...
