Bands

Bands were introduced as a feature in the Late Night EP.

Instruments

There are now four instruments, each with their own skill, which sims can play: piano/keyboard, guitar, drums, and bass.

However it is not required that the band play different instruments. It is entirely possible to have a band of 4 guitar players. However, anyplace that is hosting a gig will have the 4 different instruments present as part of the furniture, so if you need to play 4 guitars, you'll need to bring your own guitars with you.

Forming a Band

Click on a sim you have a good relationship with (at least friend) and choose 'form band'. Once you've formed a band, you can then recruit other sims by getting to know them and then, under Friendly, ask them to join the band. If no option exists to ask them to join, then they are ineligible because they either can't join the band (some canned sims can not) or they are already in a band.

At present there doesn't seem to be a way to convince a sim to quit their current band and join yours.

Getting Gigs

Getting Gigs is currently working sporadically. According to the documentation, your band can be from 2-4 musicians, but most people have the best luck getting gigs with 4 people. Gigs will come via the phone, so always answer your phone. When you get a gig, you'll get a spot on the map to go to and your band will meet you there. You get on stage and play for the duration, then are paid at completion.
