Start by downloading the invisible driveway by roddyaleixo at this link....
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=90875

Install this, then familiarise yourself with the sideways driveway technique,

there is a tutorial by eedgan at this link.....
http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=164641

Next choose a suitable lot.
Now for the exciting stuff.... Get your cheat console up by pressing Ctrl,
shift & C at the same time, and enter the cheat Moveobjects on.
Now choose any tile and cover just one tile on the direct opposite corner of
your lot. If unsure just follow eedgan's tutorial.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/Vacantlotwithtilereplaced.jpg

With the moveobjects cheat still activated, place a piece of driveway
extension where you want the circular driveway to be...in the case in my
shots, I chose around the middle of the lot, and only a few tiles back from
the sidewalk. Then place another one directly behind it, like in the shots below.
[/IMG]http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/2peicesofdrivewayextension.jpg[/img]

Then (still with the cheat on) you place 2 more extension pieces on the right
side & on the left side, but actually along side the sidewalk this
time...just like the ones below.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/2morepiecesoneachside.jpg

Now take your design tool as ilustrated below,
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/designtool.jpg
then choose the invisible driveway extension click on each piece of driveway
extension to make it invisible, as illustrated below
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/custominvisibledriveway.jpg

Now your lot looks as if there is nothing there!!! You may now turn off the
cheat by pressing Ctrl, shift & C at the same time, then enter in the cheat
console moveobjects off.Again make sure you are in build mode, go to Terrain, then to Ground Cover and choose a suitable ground cover. I have made a few custom ones & am using
one for this tutorial. So I chose a gravel ground cover...any will do....the
choice is yours. Then draw a half circle like I have below. If you make a
mistake just hit the undo button!
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/halfcircleofgravelasdriveway.jpg

You may now place a car!!!
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/carondriveway.jpg

Build a house! My Sim Leileah is going to test the driveway...
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/buildhouse.jpg
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/MysimLeileahabouttotest.jpg
Here she is getting into the car.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l45/fletcher_mirage/Tutorials/gettingintocar.jpg

The only thing with the driveway like this as with some sideways driveways
is, that the car cannot be seen actually leaving the lot....it sort of
teleports to the road....the same when returning. Guess we cant have
everything our way!
Then decorate. May have to use the move object cheat to place decorations
where I have in the shot below!

All comments and ideas welcome!

Jmaster3265, you have to read all the words. The very first thing that Fev states is that you need to download the invisible recolor. She even put a link directly to it.

Oh and Fev, wonderful tutorial. I do plan on using this in at least one of the house contests that I'm in at the moment (if I get far enough to decorate outside that is) and of course will give credit to you and your tutorial.

Have you got the Nightlife expansion? Cause if you havn't the whole driveway thing wont work!
If you have followed my steps in the tutorial to the part where is says "take the design tool" you should be able to see an invisible driveway! There is a little pic with the tutorial above to show what I mean :) This is presuming you do have Nightlife & you have downloaded and installed the invisible driveway from the link I gave above!

Hope this all helps, and if there are more questions, please ask :)

Is there anywhere a mod to the car can be seen actually leaving the lot with this type of garage? Or the 'corner' garages?

Mootilda
13th Dec 2011, 4:31 PM
No, There are no animations for these types of driveways.

Although, you could try the WCIF (where can I find...?) forum.

How come when I do it, no matter what I do to the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street, the driveway stuff doesn't rotate. I've deleted or replaced one tile on the right and/or left hand side or even the entire thing and nothing happens.

I've deleted or replaced one tile on the right and/or left hand side or even the entire thing and nothing happens. The direction that the driveway turns is dependent upon the sun direction on the lot, which is set in stone at the time that the lot is first created.

If your driveway won't rotate in the direction that you want, then you'll have to throw out that lot and try again with a new lot which faces in a different direction in the neighborhood.

Be sure to read the entire "sideways driveway" thread. Questions about why your driveway won't rotate correctly are better asked in that thread:

Yes. Trying another lot worked thanks.

I apologise for resurrecting such an old thread, but would Mootilda's Rotatable Driveways mod (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=515924) accomplish about the same thing here?

joandsarah77

Yes it does. If someone can't use Mootilda's mod for some reason they would still need to do this, but the mod now makes this easy to do.
