View Full Version : The World's Coolest Dad (Winner Announced!)

17th Oct 2007, 3:45 PM

Hey guys. Are you tired of all the attention your lady Sims get around here? Bored of watching them take home prizes from beauty contests while you take home nothing? Sure, we're proud of them, but are you anxious to show off YOUR talent instead of watching from the sidelines? Well, Gentlemen of the Sims 2 Community Forums, it's your turn for the spotlight. This time YOU get to compete for the prize.

The World's Coolest Dad is a search for the Dad who has it all. The Dad who adopts a puppy for his family even though he knows he'll have to clean up it's mess. The Dad who works a second job as the Team Mascot so he can afford
a vacation to Twikkii Island for his family. The Dad who wears a fanny pack because of it's impressive convenience. Whether you coach the town's best little league team or run the local stamp collecting club, we are looking for you. Yes, we're looking for YOU.

Sims should be either Adult or Elder and MUST be male. All "species" are allowed. (Human, Elf, Alien, etc.)
No Sim Stealing or Sim Tweaking. This will result in immediate disqualification.
Your Sim's family will need to be involved in certain rounds. Your Sim does not have to be married. However, any type of couple is allowed (Heterosexual, Homosexual, Interracial, Interspecies, etc.) Your Sim must have at least one child. (Child = Toddler, Kid, or Teenager).
Photoshopping is not required but is allowed. However, your photoshop skills will have no effect on your score.
Contestants will be eliminated every round.
It is unlikely extensions will be given so please make sure you can commit to the deadlines.
Please DO NOT post unfinished applications or comments such as "I will be back later with an application."
Please follow all S2C Forum rules.

"The Dusty Nickel" (http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x171/goodnightpeter/Outside1.jpg) donated by boolPropped (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?u=145755) .
Former owner, Dusty Nickel, has turned his once-struggling small town shop into a thriving business place. Everything you will ever need is right here, along with a spacious yard and picnic area to spare! The public store is located on the main level, and there is a small 2 BR apartment upstairs (usable with a simple zoning cheat). There is plenty of room to grow, or it can remain the town's small shop-around-the-corner. All EPs required; minimal custom content.
A set of "man" posters donated by Romyhorse (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?u=141645). • This contest is very simple and probably won't be very challenging. It's just meant for good fun.
• I will most likely post the next round before the current round ends. I think that by doing this, it will lessen the chance of people asking for extensions/dropping out because you will have an extra day or two to brainstorm ideas.
• If you have to drop out, please PM Goodnightpeter A.S.A.P.
• If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM Goodnightpeter!

Name: Ben Robinson
Age: 37
Occupation: Mailroom Technician (subject to change)
Bio (Three Facts): (1) One year ago last month, my wife, the love of my life, died unexpectedly of a mysterious illness. (2) Our daughter, Lucy, is nine years old and means everything to me; I've done what I can to protect her from my own sadness and hers after such a tragedy. (3) Lucy and I live in a cozy rented cabin in Three Lakes, and I should be able to relax and enjoy the gorgeous location, but money troubles have been weighing on my mind lately.

Family Portrait: This was taken by an old friend who helped Lucy and me move into the cabin after... well, about a year ago. I knew Lucy would be devastated to leave her friends and all those memories behind, so I did my best to make our new house feel homey. Looking back, I can see that my decorating efforts weren't exactly professional, but it's the thought that counts.

Im so joining! One question though:

Will there be eliminations after the application round? And how long exactly will each round last?

There will be no eliminations for the application round. The first eliminations will be based off round one scores. So everyone who applies automatically makes it to round one.

I've decided that it would probably be beneficial to post the next rounds instructions before the current round ends, so you will have at least 6 days to do each round, maybe even 7.

Do you know what time applications will end? I really want to enter but I don't want to go through the trouble of making an application and stuff just to have it be too late in case you're in a different time zone or something. Well, I'm going to work on it anyway and hope I make it, but it would just be nice to know so I won't be paranoid and rush for no reason. ^_^

* I love animated movies and cartoons in general. I like to watch just about any animated thing that pops up on the screen. Me and Baxter have great fun sitting around in our PJs watching cartoons together.

* I can't cook at all - poor Baxter! We have to order delivery quite often. But I DID manage to fool that old Headmaster... he never caught on that my good friend Stephanie cooked that Lobster Thermidor!

* I read the whole of the Encyclopaedia Britannica between the ages of 10 and 13 years old. I know a lot of little facts that would probably help me if I were to ever go on a game show!

I would like to apologize for not putting Round One up last night like I said I would. It was a rough night. I hope you understand.

It's a rainy afternoon and you've invited us over for lunch. It's gloomy and everyone is cranky. Sure you're a great host, but we're a little bored. So, what do you do? You bring out the photo album of course!

Post 2-4 pictures of what we would find in your photo album.
This is completely up to you. Do we get to see your senior picture from High School? A snapshot of you and the kids playing ball? That picture your wife took when you dressed up as a llama for the company Halloween party?
Under each picture please write up a short description. Tell us a story! (Spelling and grammar will not be judged. Just make sure it's legible.)
This is your chance to make us laugh, make us cry, make us want to know more about you. So be creative!

Show us where you live! Do you own that perfect suburban house with a white picket fence? A mansion? A cabin? A trailor? Show off your crib.

Only 1 picture is required.
You may NOT use a house made by someone else. It can be something you built yourself or a house that came with the game if you aren't so good at building (like me.)
The quality of your house will have no effect on your score. Basically if you do it, you get the points.
You will earn 3 extra points.

Deadline - November 4th by 10 PM Eastern.

Applications are still open for those who are interested.

29th Oct 2007, 5:46 PM

Our wedding was beautiful, but it was so small that the mutual friend who officiated was also the official photographer! This is my favorite snapshot of that day. To tell you the truth, it sometimes brings tears to my eyes even now.

This is a picture taken by my mom, who stayed with us for awhile after Lily was born. Lily was the most precious, sweetest baby. And look at my sideburns!

My wife snuck on me with her camera and captured this sweet scene. Can you believe little Lily had that much hair! And her potty-training was a breeze, as you can see by her smile.

This was taken at our cabin this winter by the newspaper boy, who was very impressed with mine and Lily's snowman building efforts. My wife had died only a few months before, and I was thrilled to see Lily happy again.

My Life Started When I Met Baylee, I Just Turned 21, Living Off Campus in Pleasantview, and Met Her At Sim State University Where I was Getting My College Degree In Culinary Arts. We First Met At A Party Hosted by the Shang-Ra-La, Our Eyes Met, I Couldn't Take My Eyes Off Of Her. What Happened? We Hit It Off. And we went back to my place. I always Loved My Patriots Jersey, Considering Pleasantview Was Just Outside Of Boston. I loved that Thing to Death.

I Asked My Roomate Joseph to take Some Pics of Me and My Girl During That Day And We Looked totally Silly.

I Fail To Understand WHY I'm Looking Off Into Space. I couldn't Stop Thinking About Her.

She Loved It When I Made Fun Of Her. But I Made The Best Kissy Face. She Loved Being Silly With Me, and Adored Her Faces.

My Parents Knew The Pleasants From Way Back When, Unfortunately My Father Was In the Hospital With Lymphoma, and My Mother Had Passed On A Year Before, I Was 23 Then. Baylee's Parents and My Parents Were So Supportive of Her and Me.
Our Wedding Day, It Was Such a Wonderful Day, Being Married To thew Woman Of My Life. We Had a Small Gettogether At The Reception Hall Run By Daniel Pleasant. He Was So thoughtful and gave us a discount on renting the hall. There Couldn't Be Any Other Way to Pay Him Back for his generosity. All we Had to Pay For Was The Photographer, the cooks, and the waiters. Everything else was covered.

It Was Unfortunate that Everything My Parents Left Us Was Burnt Down in a house fire. It was unknown what sparked the Fire, but we lost everything that had sentimental value. Our Wedding Picures were stored proudly on the mantle and have now burnt to ashes. Our Love Still Remains Forever. As For The College Pics, someone had found them in my old dorm. I've been wondering where they went. At Least We have those memories.

I would just like to comment on how wonderful everyone's applications and round one entries are! You guys are awesome.

Also, I'm working on prizes right now. I'm kind of at a loss because the only thing I can really make are recolors in body shop (heh). If anyone knows someone who might be willing to donate a prize, please let me know! I would hate to have a contest without any sweet prizes. I promise I will find something though.

This is a cute picture that I happened to snap of Phoenix reading to our daughter Cassie. I was out in the backyard with Daniel fishing and we decided to go in for the night, then we came upon this scene. i took out my cell-phone and snapped a picture. I like this shot because it's natural, and just plain sweet.

This is Daniel and I spending some quality time together, Phoenix and I are both lawyers so we're very busy and are rarely home. But when we are home the children and each other are our top priorities.

Children will be children, Cassie wanted to give her brother a smooch and I don't think he liked it. He's at that girls have "cooties" stage, I told him that it was okay to kiss your sister, but he just wrinkled his nose.

I found this picture among my things, Phoenix had fallen off a bridge during a case and had gotten badly injured. I stayed at the hospital with him day and night, I never left his side for one moment. Except when he asked me to defend the accused I naturally accepted. I've known Phoenix since grade school.

Bonus-Our house
It's pretty small, and we hope to move into a bigger one soon.

Round One

Well, if we're going to go through the album, lets go through it in order. This is a photo of Seriphia and I's first dance at our wedding. She looked so gorgeous that day, and, as much as I hate to admit it, I was the teary eyed one at the altar.

This is Seriphia and I right before Seri went into labor with Rayna. Seri felt some kicking in her belly, so I rubbed her belly, and Rayna kicked the crap out of my hand. Needless to say, the next morning, she had her little hand wrapped around my finger and has hardly even let go.

Our family is a very outdoors-y family. This is at a nearby campground, us just watching the clouds go by. This is the laid-back family that we are.

This is the day we finished our deck and our pool was done being installed. We made the best out of it, and spent the whole day out there. Needless to say, all of us, including little Diana were sunburnt. But we all had alot of fun!

This is our house. I painted it myself, and did alot of the remodeling. When we first saw this house, it was rundown and a total mess. We fixed it up and now its the most amazing house I have ever seen, but I am a little biased myself. ;)

Daddy Jessie in the sun, daddy Mitch took this a few week ago before the end of summer. He like to take pictures of daddy Jessie, he says he's very photo-gen-ick.

Daddie Jessie being lazy, I took this one with daddy Mitch's cell-phone. Daddy Mitch liked it though and kept it, he said Jessie looked Hot *makes a face*.

*giggle* Daddy Mitch singing to Daddy Jessie, he sounded sooo bad! But Daddy Jessie seemed to like it, he looks like he's going to fall over or wet his pants from fright. Can't tell which :P.

YaY! We had fun in this shot we were all in the family room dancing! Daddy Mitch looks funny I like the face he's making, my sister Felina took this one that's why she's not in it.

Our house, it's big, we need it big with all of us kids. Daddy Mitch wants 10 kids, I dunno know if Daddy Jessie is ready. When we adopted Elle, he well had a breakdown of sorts. Daddy Mitch says he was laughing at nothing and talking to air...

This picture was taken not long after I met Joanne at university. We met in our final year and it was lust at first sight! Joanne was a bit of a rebel back then, it scares me how much she has changed sometimes. These days it's all designer suits and business lunches.

Well, it wouldn't be the family album without the obligatory wedding photos would it! At the time it was the happiest day of my life, until Maggie came along that is, being a father really changes your outlook on life.

This is our first family holiday. Okay it was only camping, but that was all we could afford back then. Maggie was 8 and all her friends were going to Disneyland or PortAventura so she was a bit disappointed, but we did rafting and horseback riding, and she mades lots of new friends so we all had a great time.

One of my proudest moments, watching Allie take her first steps. I missed out on alot of Maggie's firsts because I was working, but this time round I get to see everything, and I love it!

Here is out little house. When I gave up work to look after Allie we had to give up our smart townhouse in the city and move out to the suburbs. Maggie and Allie have to share a bedroom which didn't go down well with Maggie, but we're hoping to save enough to be able to expand it soon.

Task One

This one was taken just after we had finished fixing up the garden in our little house. I'm holding Robert, and Rory is on the ground, he always wanted his Mummy to hold him, and wouldn't even let her take the picture before crawling over to pull at her! So, as you may have expected, this one took some time.

My best girl, Kathryn. This was taken in our living room, just before she went off to her prom. I must admit, it brought tears to my eyes seeing my girl so grown-up. I only wish her mother saw this moment in her life. She's the only woman in the photo-album, which I'm sure is a boost to her confidence, but I couldn't live with pictures of her Mother and mine's personal moments, it was just too painful to remind me she left.

Kathryn caught this one of the Twins recently, this Fall actually when I let her play around with the camera. They were pretending to be 'doggies' and I had to laugh when they tried to explain this to me, Rory just had to cutest look on his face as if to say, "Can you not get this simple thing yet?"

The first holiday we took without the children's mother. Me and Kathryn took a little fishing trip, and I got another camper to take this picture. The twins were left with their Grandmother, but I'm not sure Kathryn enjoyed the trip as much as I did. Well, until I caught a boot, and she caught a cod. We barbequed it that night. I have fantastic memories from that holiday, and it gave us all a well deserved break from life.

I live with my kids in a small, three bedroomed bungalow on the outskirts of the main town. It's not much, as their mother and I wanted to expand it when the twins came along, but we never got the money for it. Kathryn looks after all the gardening, and even remembers to pick the apples from the trees out front at the right time!

((Is everything okay? If not, let me know so I can change it :) Also,, Congratulations on being Featured :D))

NAME: Edward Smith

AGE: 39

OCCUPATION: Businessman

Edward has always been afraid of commitment, so he never had a long term relationship, his mom started setting him up afraid he'll end up alone. Then he met Carla, who simply stole his heart from the first glance ; He proposed to her on their :omg: THIRD date!

He has been married to Carla for 15 years...After 5 years of trying and miscarriages they were blessed with their little miracles (Ocean who is now 10) and soon after (Pearl who is 8). Carla never thought edward would enjoy fatherhood THAT much (he has always been busy and workaholic) , she feels that if he has a choice to stay at home and be with them all the time and leave all the success and work; he really would.

Carla is now eight and a half months pregnant...A totally unexpected & unplanned blessing is on it's way to the Smiths! Edward is just too excited, he even offered jokingly to give birth instead of her this time...this joke was not well received by cranky Carla who is still shocked and does not feel ready for doing all this again after 8 years!

Round One
So I was looking through our photo album and came across a few of my favorite pictures and thought I'd share them with you.

On our honeymoon, Daisy and I went to the beach and saw this awesome pirate ship!! I had so much fun playing on it. Yarrr!!!

I love Halloween! Here's me as Captain Jack Sparrow (I wish I would've had this costume on the pirate ship!!) and Daisy as a creepy Alice inWonderland.

And here's a more recent picture of us building a snowman. I love this picture because Noah looks so funny eating the snow. Glad it's not yellow.

OH! and we recently bought a new house. It was already in the neighborhood but we spent a good bit of time renovating it. I love this house:

Time to pull out the old photo album, eh? Alright let's go!

Ooooh, look at this one! This is when my wife Selema and I went to France for vacation before Quinn was born!

aww, this one is from a couple months ago.

My wife took this picture, I believe. This is my daughter Quinn and I dancing Selema's cousin's wedding. It was Quinn's first wedding dance!

hmm, I might have to keep looking through here to find some more worthy photographs! This was fun!

Round One - Thomas Bernouilli

Bored already? What, my imitation of show tunes isn't quite as good as I claimed? Alright, time to whip out the Bernouilli family album and take a trip down memory lane...

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_unithom.jpg)

Hey! How did this get in here? Well, I guess I can't deny it... yes, that's me, a junior in university. I was giving one of those rad new bubble bongs a try. Besides my hair, I haven't changed much. Well, I guess I'm a little more responsible these days.. I played in a band back on campus, the world famous Lawn Gnome Quartet. You've heard of us, right? Remind me to give you a copy of our demo CD. I should probably give those guys a call, see how they've been doing. We could meet up for coffee and talk about the good old days..

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_pregthom.jpg)

Oh! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was so excited and yet so nervous. I guess you could say I went a little overboard, reading everything I could find about alien children, life as a single father, and anything at all about babies. I was so scared I would do something wrong that would negatively effect Baxter! I guess that hasn't changed since his birth.. having a child is like having your heart forever walk outside of your body, but I try to do the best I can as a dad. And though I went through so much trouble trying to make his room "special" for him, I realized having an alien child is just like having any other child. He appreciated it, sure, but he cared much more about playing in the boxes rather than with the exclusive "alien toys" that I bought for him.

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_poolthom-1.jpg)

Of course, much of our life is spent living day to day, having fun together and living life to the fullest. Moments like these are so often forgotten, but thanks to my dear friend Stephanie, who happened to snap a photo, I will always remember how happy that day was. I hope Baxter will, too. Of course, I will also remember the sunburn that came soon after...

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_thomvacation.jpg)

Our first vacation as a family was to Nakamura Village - I loved it there, especially the many varieties of tea! Baxter wasn't as fond of the taste, but he loved learning about the new and exciting culture. Maybe we have a budding anthropologist on our hands?

Home Sweet Home...

We recently moved into a new home and couldn't be happier. Although I miss my old observatory, Baxter and I are working together to build a new one, and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world.

Thanks for stopping by.. feel free to take home some leftovers, and come visit us any time. I promise I won't do show tunes.. but I just might pull out the karaoke machine!

2nd Nov 2007, 1:59 AM
Could the contestants please do me a favor and put your contestant's name in the subject line please? It's not a big deal but I've realized it would be a lot easier updating the contestant list and judging. There are quite a few contestants and it's a bit difficult to keep them all straight! Thanks. :)

Also, I'm trying to keep the contestant list as up-to-date as possible, so make sure I have all your entries linked! I don't think I've forgotten anyone, but just to make sure.

2nd Nov 2007, 8:03 AM
Well, it seems that the wedding album has gone missing. Must have been one of the girls in their princess phase wanting to play with pictures. This is the other album we have. Looking back, we should have chronicled things better, but with triplets, there is barely time to go to the bathroom!

That is Layla and I. We naturally cuddle in each other's arms. Friends thought us sickening, and it didn't surprise them when we announced our wedding. I think one snapped this one on the game night we held to announce that we were expecting. The next week, we found out it was three!

How time flies! The first couple years were a blur of diapers, bottles, and miscellaneous smudges of mush. It was hard, but the smiles on their faces and gleeful laughter was worth every permanently stained shirt. We discovered early on that they appreciated music. We timed the camera to go off while they were dancing one night. We used the picture on Holiday Cards to friends and family.

I guess with many children, the parents seem to take more pictures of those born first. I think this picture was taken by me the night we told the girls that they would soon have a little brother or sister to play with. They were so excited and could not wait to see their new sibling. Then we found out that we would have three more. That was fun to explain to them, but they found it to be neat that they could have special assignments to each baby. It actually worked out quite well having them a number of years apart, the extra hands helped quite a lot.

Seeing as our eldest will be going to university pretty soon, and the younger will be entering high school, we took a vacation to a secluded village outside of Beijing. I found out about it through one of my pro-gamer co-workers, and he was right about how nice the place was. Layla and I had a chance to have free time, in which we had morning tea with a wise Yogi who shared with us many words of wisdom. If the kids had not found us, it could have been considered a second honeymoon.

In leaving my humble abode, you notice that it is not only dark out, but that snow has started to fall softly on the ground. Good thing you brought your winter coat.

The 'Dusty Nickel' looks great :)

Here is a picture of our prom. Leslie just gave birth to Josh. She didn't care how tired she was. She was not going to miss out on such a big and important experience. I loved her strength and courage. We even put on these fake wedding rings because I parents made us. But the most memorable part of the night was when we were voted king and queen for the graduating class.

Bye Bye Appendix

Poor little Josh. He was five years old and on our wedding night we had to take him to the children's hospital. He had appendicitus, poor thing. We were about to leave for our honeymoon when my parents called. We rushed right on over and to this day, we still haven't had a honeymoon. We're waiting until Martha is 13 before we go. Only three more years!

Mommy Daughter Day

Every year our town hosts a competition to see which mother and daughter look the best when they are wearing the same thing. I thought Leslie and Martha looked amazing, and very much alike. Martha has always wanted to dress like her mommy and that was the perfect opportunity. They placed second at the judging ceremony. I still remember the huge smile on their faces when they found out they placed that high.

Homey Feelings

This is our home. It's very tiny but it's wonderful. We've decorated it to our style. It has a very country like feeling and it's perfect for dinner parties or for when our kids invite a friend over. It even has a guest room for sleepovers! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Playing Guitar When I worked at a Restaurant:
Please Don't Laugh !! Carla and the kids just laughed their heads off over this picture....Give me a break! I was 18 and needed the money....Girls from all over town used to come to this place just to see me....I was so cool!

My Favourite Wedding Picture:
Just after the ceremony, we moved to the garden and the cold crisp air was flowing around us , little water drops from the fountain splashed to our faces...but we just stood there side by side under the moonlight gazing into our future...We were just living in a dream and felt ready to start our life together...

First Time Holding Ocean:
This picture was taken by one of the nurses, just after they handed me our first born for the first time..I held him shaking but as soon as I touched his soft skin and looked into his eyes, I was in love...He wrapped his tiny hand around my finger...and this is when tears started to fall down my face,I looked at Carla and she was crying too....We were both so happy! With Carla and this little fella held close to me I felt blessed...and it just felt right...Just seeing this picture makes me cry,and I'm not a sissy...but this moment will be with me forever.....

After Carla gave birth to Pearl, we realized our family was complete (I guess we were wrong..we are having another baby 8 years after...LOL) , we also realized that it's been since before Ocean was born that we took a vacation...So I took my family to Hawaii, where we all got to spend lazy days just lying on the beach... This picture Carla took of us, my pearly was so sleepy in all this heat so she was huddled sleepily on my shoulder, and Ocean was just being Ocean all smiles and standing behind daddy...

Our Home We live in a family friendly suburbian area:
This is the place that we built....it is where we started our lives ,accomplished our dreams & saw our kids grow..It's just amazing how it's all filled with Love,Warmth & Memories....We cherish every corner of this place, and we can't wait to welcome our newest blessing to it...and fill it with even more memories!!

Alright, awesome guys! Round One has officially ended. I will post Round Two in just a bit so you can start brainstorming. Surprisingly I already have 3/4 judge's scores so hopefully we will have Round One results up soon!

Also, I'm so glad we didn't have any dropouts or no shows! You guys rock. :guitar:

5th Nov 2007, 12:58 PM
phew.... i wasnt sure if i was to judge the applications or the round one so i went for round 1! haha great entries people! You guys certainly rock!

5th Nov 2007, 8:14 PM

You've been working hard lately. When you're not at work, you're fixing the car, or taking out the trash, or one of the other nine million things you know you have to get done. But finally, a miracle. As you're about to pour yourself a cold glass of chocolate milk, the calendar on the refrigerator catches your eye. "No.." You step back. You carefully rub your eyes and look again. You stare at the two empty boxes under "Saturday" and "Sunday". Finally. A free weekend! Now, any normal Dad would see this as an opportunity to kick back with a Bud and watch the game with his pals, or just spend a whole day relaxing in the pool, glass of orange juice in hand. But no. You are special. You are the coolest Dad in the world, right? What would this wonderful weekend be without your family? You get planning right away.

What will you do this weekend with your family? Will you treat them to a camping trip in the pristine mountaintops? Visit Grandma? A road trip to the world's largest cheese factory?

Please post 1-4 pictures of your family doing what you've planned for them this weekend.
Again, be creative! You can go anywhere and do anything. Maybe you take a vacation far far away, or just stay home and build a fort in the backyard. The options are endless.
Please answer the following questions. The amount of effort you put into your questions will have an effect on your grade. Spelling and grammar will not count against you unless it causes your answers to be illegible.

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at?
What did you do over the weekend?
Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend:

Uh oh! The weekend is over and unfortunately one of your children became ill. Probably too much excitement, eh? Most Dad's would give the kid an Advil, tuck them into bed, and call it a day. But not you. You do something special because it just breaks your heart to see your baby so sick.

What do you do to make your child feel better? Buy him a new video game? Set up a tea party for your little Princess on her bed? Obviously you know how to make them feel better since you are the coolest Dad in the world, so what do you do?

Only 1 picture is required.
You will have to earn your points this time. Your creativity will have an effect on your score.
You can earn up to 3 points by completing this task.

Deadline - November 11th by 10 PM Eastern.

Hopefully scores will be up shortly. Just waiting on one more judge.

5th Nov 2007, 9:38 PM
Thank Goodness. I Can't Wait To See the Scores. Good Luck Everyone!

Score: 93/100
I loved your pictures and that house is darling. I just would’ve liked to see his son in another picture.
Very original, well taken pictures, and a lovely family. Great house. Well done.
Your pictures looked fun! It almost made me wish I was there with them. Great job!
I liked your entry a lot because your pictures were very original and it really seems like you put a lot of thought into your ideas.

Carlo Fox (Lottie.)
Score: 76/100
Your house picture isn’t there. I also would’ve liked to see more done with the settings/backgrounds. They seemed kind of plain.
Well planned out photos but entry wasn't carried out well. But OK job.
Cute photos! But your bonus photo didn't show up for me.
Your pictures were nice, but they lacked a certain spark. I would have liked to see more original ideas.

Ben Robinson (Daisie)
Score: 98/100
Your wedding photo is breath taking!
Beautiful pictures, lovely story, good writing. Great job.
Those were sweet photos! It takes a real man to potty train his kids. :b Great job!
I absolutely adore every picture! I love all the detail.

Xylar Gotham (honeynutcows)
Score: 88/100
I don’t know exactly what’s going on in the second photo. It doesn’t seem “snapshot” like. Also, a tropical vacation seems rather out of character for his family.
Followed rules well, great pictures, well thought out!
Your photos are pretty and very detailed. I loved the Halloween photo.
I liked that all of your pictures were distinctively unique and you used a few different ideas. Your pictures are all so colorful!

Miles Edgeworth (Kakashi_Hatake)
Score: 79/100
Your pictures look a little too game play like to me. Try to do more with the Sim’s surroundings.
Great to see an alternative couple, pictures were OK, good facts, but I felt the quality could have been higher.
The picture of the siblings were cute! I would've like to have seen a bit more creativity though. Maybe more objects in the background to give it a more realistic feeling. Some of the pics just seem a bit bare. You still did a good job!
It's interesting that Phoenix is able to read in the dark (referring to the first picture, hah.) Anyways, your pictures were nice although the lighting seems a tad dark.

Jessie Indie (Kakashi_Hatake)
Score: 86/100
Whoa. First picture.
Shots were planned out but weren't executed in a presentable fashion. Background to photos could have been more interesting, overall an OK entry.
I liked how you made one of the children narrate the description of each photo. Although I wish you had portrayed the children more in your photos. Nice job!
I wish you would have highlighted more memories. Most of your pictures were just snapshots of the family. But overall, a nice entry. Also, it sounds like through your descriptions that one of his children is narrating perhaps? I would assume it is preferred that Jessie narrates since he is person entered in the contest.

Andrew Lewis (funheart00)
Score: 95/100
I love how you focused on the kids as much as the dad.
Great Sim, fab photos, very well done.
I liked the narration and the photos were sweet. I liked the twins playing together. I thought that was sweet. Very nice job!
I really liked the third picture of the two children playing "doggies." What a cute idea! I really enjoyed your entry.

Brett Novarro (ShelbyLove)
Score: 89/100
Nice pictures, I like the first 2 pictures.
Good head shot, although family shot was a bit unorganized.
Cute photos. I liked the fact you portrayed all your children having fun together as a family.
Your pictures are decent, but it doesn't appear you put a lot of time and effort into them. There really isn't much to look at.

Barry Scrimgeour (Romyhorse)
Score: 96/100
I loved all your pictures!
Background could have been brighter, interesting facts, well planned.
Very creative! I loved the scrapbook look! The pictures were sweet!
Your forth picture (the one of Barry and his daughter) is one of my favorite pictures out of everyone! Absolutely adorable!

Eli Workman (Remyohmy)
Score: 96/100
I love the first shot.
Fab Sim guy, ...interesting? facts and well planned out shots!
Very creative as well! I loved the Eiffel Tower picture!
Awesome idea for the first picture. I wish someone would give me a free trip to France. :)

Thomas Bernouilli (refined android)
Score: 99/100
I love your photos. The son is so cute!
Great dad, lovely facts, good photos! Well done!
Your photos made me laugh! The little boy is adorable!
My favorite entry! I love that Thomas' story is so different than everyone else's. Your descriptions were wonderful and witty, and I like how you incorporated the whole idea of "us" being there on a rainy day!

Cam Hamilton (Oriana)
Score: 90/100
I would’ve liked to see your backgrounds reflect the settings a little better.
OK facts, average photos but felt could be better....
The Prom picture was funny! I would've liked to see the mother and daughter doing something together or a picture of the whole family, but it was still very good!
I thought the moments you chose to show us were very interesting ideas! However, it doesn't seem like you put a lot of effort into the actual pictures. But overall, a very enjoyable entry.

Benjamin Sears (fway)
Score: 79/100
I don’t really understand the first 3 pictures, I think one would’ve been enough and then done something different for the others.
Good facts, although the second picture seemed rushed.
The pictures were funny, but not creative enough to me. More activity between the couple other than them just posing into the camera would've been more interesting. Nice job though!
Three out of four of your pictures were kind of the same thing. I know you stated that Benjamin had lost all his pictures in a house fire, but I wonder why you would do that. You really limited yourself to what kinds of pictures you could have showed us!

Justin Smith (Dragonball161)
Score: 87/100
Try changing your Sim’s clothes so it seems a bit more realistic.
A very unconventional family, well done.
Very nicely done! I thought you should've shown the other set of triplets though.
A nice entry there wasn't anything too spectaular about it. I really like how you created Justin's family and it would have been nice to see some of his quirkiness in the pictures.

Edward Smith (YoaYoakamal)
Score: 100/100
Awesome job!
Perfect photos and fab facts! VERY well done!
Pretty pictures and very creative! I loved each and every one of them! Awesome job!
I loved every single one of your pictures. The last one of Edward and the two kids is so adorable. Wonderful entry!

well thats a bit of a rubbish score isnt it lol i just want to say a few things
they were hula dancing on the second photo hence the grass skirts
and i do think its a bit predudice that gothy people cant go on a beach holiday most of my dads side of the family is gothy and it offends me that you say its wierd for them to go on a beachy holiday but you know thats me
anyway congrats yoa on the perfect score

Please don't be offended by the judge's comments. This contest is all about good fun. Your score was higher than other's and 3/4 of your comments were very positive. If it really bothered you that much, please take care of it in a PM to me.

our camping holiday
my little girls always wanted to go camping ive sort of put it of since erm well *whispers* im scared of the dark but i realised my little girls more important than any little fear

photo 1
this is just after we got there the sun was just setting and we sat and tole bonfire stories i havnt got the greatest imagination so i had to read out of a book but lathia on the other hand WOW from a princess who was trapped inside a locket to a microscopic family that lived in the groud i swear she could become an author

photo 2
no trip is complete without that chessy family photo this is us posing at our campsite i told everyone to make the funniest face possible seems im the only one that held up that part of the bargin

photo 3
well we were playing truth or dare and lathia managed to get my secret out of me well that was a mistake as soon as she knew i was scared of the dark she jumped out from behind the tree and acared me half to death women sometimes

photo 4
the sun had set and the stars were shining it was so beautiful we found some old ruins in the woods and just sat watching the stars and talking about good times it may not seem like much but its those bonding times that are the most special moments to me

bonus task
lathia was being bullied at school i was sat outside in the car and heard them "oi freak are you going home to your coffin now" they were so cruel shes only four i felt like hitting them but i new that wouldnt get me anywhere when we got home she started pretending to be sick i knew she wasnt but she desrved a treat so the next day me and zia organized a huge party and dressed up in the stupidest outfits to get her laughing again it felt so good to see her smile again

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at?
we spent the weekend at the cute little forest up the road we had no luxuries just the tent some smores and the open breeze well thats how it started off lathia soon found the local fair well i cant complain it was great fun
What did you do over the weekend?
wow the list goes on we did the little things like roasting marshmallows and reading stories but we also visited the local fair the ancient ruins and went on a trek to look for big foot
Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend
the best bit i think was when we went hiking for bigfoot a huge furry animal came charging at us and we were scared tiff i managed to wrestle him down and found out it was the local caretaker dressed up we didnt see bigfoot but we got $1000 and our picture in the paper

Justin and Layla actually friends of mine, and this is their sim family. I took pictures while growing up to share with my friends, and since the contest called for "photo-album," I used the pre-existing pics (and I completely left out the second set of triplets!). I will take these comments into consideration when doing round 2 and already have an idea what to do.

I do want to ask if it is ok that I played the family a little and the kids have grown up a bit? They are just such a funny brood!

Yes. It is completely fine if the children grow up, as long as they haven't grown into adulthood.

Wow. Thank you judges for your comments and wonderful score :)
Congratulations Yoa on your perfect round, your shots were stunning!
Great round Goodnightpeter! I love your tasks ;)
Getting to work on round two now... just need to get some inspiration and build it... Mmmh

Mitch and I decided that it was high time for a vacation, the problem was where to go. We decided to go to Japan, we had never been there. I pitched the idea to Mitch and he seemed thrilled, so we contacted our travel agent and in a few days we were on our way. This is a head shot of me in one of the gardens surrounding this gorgeous palace like building. I just loved the Sakura trees.

So the family and I went into this little tea-house. We had never seen anything like it, i mean I've got friends from Japan and have heard stories but it's so much more exotic than you can imagine. It's one of those places that you just have to experience for yourself. And yes we even treated ourselves to real silk kimono's, hey it was a vacation. Who knows what tomorrow may bring and what new adventures we'll have while we're here in Japan.

Mitch and I wanted to teach the children the traditional Japanese bow. Considering his mom was Japanese she taught it to Mitch before she died. And he in turn taught it to me, So now our children know it. It's sort of a family thing and it's considered special to Mitch and I. I never met his mother but now a small piece of her resides within me and our children.

Mitch and I shared a little moonlit kiss out in the garden, Caleb caught us. He didn't look too impressed. Mitch is always doing little romantic things for me like this, that's why I love him.

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at? We flew all the way to Japan, we figured it would do us all good to see where Mitch's roots came from. His mother was Japanese and always held the culture in high regard, so we wanted to see it. We also thought it would do the kids good to learn about a different culture.

What did you do over the weekend? We had alot of fun, we went to a traditional Japanese tea house, ate Japanese food and discovered a bit about the culture. It was a wonderful learning experience for us all. We plan to come back and spend more time here as we only had a weekend this time. And the trip was a bit rushed.

Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend: Ugh the Sake, Mitch and I took the kids to a traditional restaurant. So we went inside and we took our shoes off as is tradition and put on sandals. Once at our table we sat on pillows on our knees. The waiter brought over a cup of traditional Sake, and Caleb immediatly poured a glass thinking it was water. BoY did he get a suprise, he wrinkled is nose and promplty said "The water here tastes funny..". None of us really drank it but it was funny to see his expression.

Needless to say after the Sake, Caleb wasn't feeling that well. We had him sit on a nearby bench, he looked so sad because he had gotten sick. Well I couldn't let him stay sad, so in front of everyone I began to jump on the bench. It worked I finally got him to laugh, he felt better after that. Let's just say the people inside the restaurant weren't all that impressed.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but scores are accumulative. That means I will add your score from this round to your score from last round and that's how we will determine who is eliminated. Just thought you ought to know that.

7th Nov 2007, 10:38 PM
Can the answers required for Round Two be embedded in descriptions for the pictures, or should they be separate? It would probably be easier for the judges if they're separate, but I want to check before I redo the entry. :)

7th Nov 2007, 11:12 PM
I would prefer you answer the questions separately just for the purpose of judging, but as long as you clearly have the answers labeled it doesn't really matter how you include them in your entry.

7th Nov 2007, 11:51 PM

Are We There Yet?

:here: Where did you and your family spend the weekend? "As soon as I realized that the weekend was free, I drove to the elementary school and took Lily out of class - terrible, I know, but I've never done it before, and she was absolutely delighted. We decided to swing by the zoo for lunch and to visit our favorite kangaroos, and then we'd pack our bags and head over to Grandma's house in Pleasantview for the weekend. My mom is the coolest person you'll ever meet, so Lily and I were both excited to spend some time with her."

:here: What did you do over the weekend? "My mom loves to read, so we all relaxed on her living room floor and read a bedtime story together Friday evening. Later, on Saturday night, all three of us changed into our pajamas and had a pillow fight and tickling match in the small guest bedroom where Lily sleeps. It was such fun! Sunday morning, Mom cooked us delicious pancakes, and we all sat at the cozy kitchen table and chatted well into the morning before we finally had to get going."

:here: Tell us one story about something that happened over the weekend. "At the zoo, as Lily and I were peacefully eating our hot dogs, one of those darn kangaroos smelled the food and leaned all the way over the fence and breathed on Lily's neck. It, well, scared the crap out of her! I was afraid she'd be upset, but she just laughed and laughed. I - along with most everybody around us - couldn't help myself and laughed too."

Optional Task

:here: Poor Lily picked up quite a bug over the weekend, and Sunday night was tough. Her fever woke her up every few hours, leaving her shivering, sweating, and needing her daddy. So I dragged a lawn chair and the beanbag chair from the basement into her room and slept there, where I could be available when she needed me. I kept a water bottle and a tray full of juice on the table next to me, and I stowed a deck of cards underneath. When Lily woke up and felt decent enough, a good game of Old Maid cheered her right up.

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at?
After I was suprised that the kids did not have any plans written on the calender, and Seriphia and I both were off work this weekend, I ran to the phone and booked a suprise flight to our vacation home on the beach.

What did you do over the weekend?
My girls and I played on the beach, making sandcastles and knocking them down, swimming, and they even sunbathed while I made lunch.

Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend:
Well On our vacation, The girls went shopping. From what Seriphia told me in between bursts of laughter, Sherry was trying to get the interest of a local boy, and she sure got it. She tripped over her own feet and landed at his, embarrassed as heck and blushing really badly. The boy thought it was funny, as did his friends, who pointed and laughed. As bad as I felt about Sherry being embarrassed, I laughed at the story, as did Rayna and Diana. Sherry didnt want to speak to any of us for the rest of the vacation.

Sherry refused to go to school the Monday we returned, and I tried my hardest to get her to go. She was sunburnt and grumpy and didnt want anyone to see her, fearing they would know about her embarrassment. After about the whole day, I finally got her to talk to me. I then took her to get icecream and we had a long talk. My baby girl cant ever say no to icecream. :)

@Daisie-Seems to be having some image issues, it might be the site your using itself. Photobucket does that to me at times

I'll try and finish mine tonight, I've been pretty busy lately.

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at? At home most of the time, enjoying our time together!!

What did you do over the weekend? Well Saturday, Noah and Daisy and I went sledding. Noah wanted to take home a tree so we scouted some out, and chose one to bring home. By the time we got home, we didn't have time to put up so we got pizza and watched a movie and went to bed.

Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend: Christmas is Noah's favorite holiday and even though it's not Thanksgiving yet, we decorate early. Sunday morning, Daisy took Noah out to play so I could secretly decorate the house in Christmas decorations. He was very surprised and happy. :)

This was taken while we were out looking at trees. Noah was really careful to choose the best one he could find!

After I decorated the living room, I went outside with Noah and Daisy. It was soooo cold. Here we are warming up inside afterwards in our Christmas-esque living room.

As an extra surprise, we let Noah have one present early. It was one of those remote control cars he had been wanting for awhile.

Coming soon!

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at?
We spent the weekend at the same campsite we went to for our first ever family holiday. With money being a bit tight camping is all we could afford, man, you should have heard those girls moan! Well, except for Allie, she was the only one looking forward to it apart from me.

What did you do over the weekend?
We just had fun as a family, which is quite hard to do when you have a teenage daughter and a wife who is a super-organised businesswoman! It took a while for them to relax and unwind, but toasting marshmallows and singing songs round the campfire soon put everyone in the mood. I taught Allie how to fish, Maggie wasn't interested, she thought sticking worms on hooks was gross!

Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend:
On the Saturday afternnoon we were having a game of rounders, Maggie was getting a bit bored so when she wasn't looking I dipped the ball in the lake and threw it at her. At first she was furious, but then she saw the funny side and tried to get her revenge, and it turned into an all-out waterfight. It was so nice to see my girls having fun together, we haven't laughed like that in a long time, this weekend away was definitely worth it.

When we got back from camping Allie wasn't feeling well, I think she was coming down with a cold. So I dressed her in her warmest pyjamas and took her some hot chocolate in bed. Then I read her her favourite bedtime story, "The Magic Stone", or "Stone Soup!" as she likes to call it!

Wow! I'm so surprised to have received such a good score, I really expected to be eliminated first round. I'm so ecstatic and excited.. thank you guys! I'm glad you all like Thomas! I'll get my second round in today or early tomorrow, sorry it has taken me so long but I've been quite busy.

Second round looks super, everyone! Great work so far!

11th Nov 2007, 2:48 AM
I've gotten a few PM's asking for extensions, so round one will end on November 12 @ 10 PM Eastern. However, Round Three is supposed to end the 16th, so I will post the instructions later tonight. I really don't want to ask bP for an extension, so lets try our hardest to minimize the amount of extensions. However, I do understand everyone is busy, as am I. If we really need to, we can just combine Round Three & Four, but I think that would disqualify the winner from getting a star. Please let me know you're opinions on this.

EDIT. I suppose I should make that a little clearer. As of now the schedule is as follows:
Round Two ends 11/12
Round Three ends 11/16
Round Four ends 11/22

If we combine Round Three and Four, the schedule would be as follows:
Round Two ends 11/14
Round Three/Four ends 11/22

11th Nov 2007, 11:13 AM
I would really prefer if we didn't combine the rounds, but if that's for the best then it's for the best. I think a one day extension is more than enough, though. But really, it's your contest so it's up to you!

11th Nov 2007, 1:26 PM
THank you for this. I foolishly joined when I knew I had a trip out of town, didn't even think! So I'll try my hardest to find time to do it tonight.

11th Nov 2007, 8:56 PM
Alright, here is Round Three. However, you will notice there is no bonus task. If we do not have 9 total entries by tomorrow night, I will have to combine Round Three & Four, and Round Four will be modified to act as the bonus task.

Also, for those of you who have your entries completed by 10PM Eastern tonight (the original deadline), you will receive 1 bonus point. I know that may not seem like a lot, but when you figure in the bonus task as well, you can earn up to 104/100 points this round. And since the scores are accumulative, it can make a difference.

I apologize to those of you who have been busy and needed an extension. I thought 7 days was going to be enough.

Guess what? Your local newspaper found out that you are competing in "The World's Coolest Dad" contest, and they want to print a feature on you! Even if you're modest, you decide to do the interview anyways. You wouldn't want to disappoint your many fans, right? So on a cool, Fall, Saturday, you head up to the newspaper station to begin your life as a local celebrity.

Please answer the following interview questions. The amount of effort you put into your questions will have an effect on your grade. Spelling and grammar will not count against you unless it causes your answers to be illegible. Please elaborate on each question (except #9 obviously). The more you write, the more we are able to learn about you!

Since this round requires a bit more writing, feel free to PM me for assistants. I will gladly proofread your answers and help with spelling and grammar (even though essentially it doesn't count against you). I will not help with your actual content though.

What do you do in your free time?
Tell us more about your occupation:
What is your favorite childhood memory?
What were you like in High School?
Who is your best friend?
What's you're favorite food?
Do you have any pets?
What is the most important trait you look for in a wife/husband?
Describe yourself in one word:
Why are you "The World's Coolest Dad?"

So, an article in the newspaper is great, right? But the editor's want more. They want some pictures to include alongside the article!

Please post 1-4 pictures illustrating a few of the questions/answers from the interview.
For example, you may chose to show a snapshot of you and your best friend, you at work, eating your favorite food, etc.
The amount of pictures you chose to post will not affect your score, as long as it looks like you put some effort into them.

"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear _____, Happy Birthday to you!"

It's someones Birthday! And no, it's not yours. We want to see if you know how to make someone's special day the best day it can be.

Chose one of your children and throw a birthday party for them.
Only one pictures is required.
Please post a short description under your picture about the birthday party you planned. What was so special about it? Was there a theme? Was there an enourmous birthday cake? Etc.
You can earn up to 3 bonus points by completing this round.

Where did you and your family spend the weekend at? Right here at home! The minute I saw that I had a free weekend, I resolved that we'd finish building that observatory that Baxter and I had started on. I invited Stephanie over to help us. She's a coworker of mine.. and I'm really starting to notice how pretty she is.

Stuffing my face while Steph and Baxter play ball.. Hey, watch where you aim that thing!

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_picnicthom.png)

What did you do over the weekend? Baxter, Stephanie and I teamed up to finish my observatory.. we still had plenty left to do. Nailing, hammering, painting and much more. Some might say a weekend building a big, silly tower is no fun, but believe me, we had a blast. Baxter has been wanting to finish the observatory for months now. But my favorite part of the entire day? The picnic lunch we ate afterward! Stephanie cooked some delicious burgers on the grill for us. I can't cook, remember? It was amazing just spending time with my two favorite people.

Look at the view! We did a great job. Now to try it out at night, just me and Stephanie, under the stars.. Err, I'm getting sidetracked..

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_lookoutthom.png)

Tell us one story about something that happened during the weekend: Baxter, Stephanie and I were on the finished observation tower when Baxter revealed to me the reason he wanted to finish it so badly.. he hopes that as I'm gazing at the stars, the aliens will take me to their ship again. Does that sound weird to you? Well, wait until you hear his motivation - he wants a baby brother or sister! I laughed so hard when he told me. He was annoyed at me, because he was completely serious about it! But if things work out with Stephanie like I'm hoping they will, I might not have to be abducted to make that wish come true..

Our work here is done! The finished observation tower.. long nights of stargazing, here I come!

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_towerthom.png)

But later, the worst possible thing happened..

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_hospitalthom-1.png)

Baxter was playing with the telescope while Stephanie and I were talking.. he tried to do a trick, and before we could stop him he fell from the observatory and broke his arm. It was like my world crashed right then and there. I was so afraid something was wrong - that he'd have a concussion, be paralyzed.. every scenario went through my mind. It was the scariest few second of my life. When I got to him he was crying and his arm was bent in an odd way.. I had Stephanie call the paramedics and stayed with Baxter, trying to soothe him. I felt so guilty for letting him help me, and I felt like a horrible father. It could have easily been so much worse than a broken arm.

He calmed down a little when we got him to the hospital and the doctor put a cast on his arm. Baxter is very brave, but seeing the tears in his previously happy eyes just broke my heart. All I could think of was the fact that I had ruined his perfect weekend. I thought I might make him feel a little better if I went out to get some pizza, which was his all time favorite food. But when I passed by a pet shop, I saw the tiniest little white puppy.. he was looking through the glass with such sad eyes. Baxter had always wanted a dog, and I had always told him the same thing - no. I was allergic and that innocent little puppy would be like a fierce warrior to my sinuses. That, and I was sure that Baxter wouldn't be as responsible with an animal as he claimed. But when I saw that puppy, I knew two things. That this was the only thing that could put a smile back on Baxter's face, and that I was in for a lifetime of allergies.

The hard part was sneaking him into the hospital. Stephanie was staying there with Baxter, so I called her outside and asked her to distract the nurse while I took the puppy in to surprise him. His eyes lit up the moment he saw the bundle I was carrying in my arms. It was like he wasn't even hurt. He was so happy! But Stephanie's plan backfired and the nurse came in too soon.. Oops! The two of them had a bit of a heated argument. Stephanie has a BAD temper! She was so angry! But in the end, she convinced the nurse to let the puppy stay until Baxter could leave (as long as someone held him, of course!) Baxter named the little guy Olly. And yes.. he's cute, I admit it. And even if he makes me sneeze, Olly is a part of the family now.

We need at least two more entries by 10PM tonight in order to have a Round Three and a Round Four.

13th Nov 2007, 3:12 AM
Round 2 is now closed. Since we were missing 4 entries, goodnightpeter-Nikkie, was wondering if you would like eliminations still? She doesn't have internet right now.

13th Nov 2007, 5:33 AM
Since there are already 4 that are gone i'd say naw, it'd give everyone that did get thiers in on time a fair shot :).

13th Nov 2007, 12:44 PM
Yay, my internet is working again. :)

Since there are only 7 contestants there won't be any eliminations. I don't know if this will disqualify the winner from getting a star though.

I apologize to all of you for extending Round Two. The two contestant's who asked for an extension didn't even submit entries so I have to admit my feelings are somewhat hurt. Hopefully all of you have been able to start thinking about Round Three! But I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

I'd also like to apologize to the contestants who were eliminated after Round One. If I would have known 5 people were going to drop out, you would have been able to continue competing.

I will still be giving everyone a bonus point.

13th Nov 2007, 6:11 PM
My scores are in! :)

13th Nov 2007, 6:20 PM
*Shakes head* Rude, if you ask for an extension at least try and get it in or at least PM the host. It was held up a whole day for nothing and that annoys me as well, plus it's rude. anyway I think you're doing a great job hosting this so don't let it bother you :).

14th Nov 2007, 3:05 AM
Im not going to be able to continue.
My sims computer crashed and I lost Brett and his family.

14th Nov 2007, 4:41 PM
I was just letting you know that I've PM'd an emergency judge. One of our judge's PM box has been full for two days now and I haven't heard anything from them. It doesn't really matter though since no one is getting eliminated. But, hopefully I'll have your scores soon!

Also, Round Three is going to end 11/17 @ 10PM Eastern. I will post the challenge within the next few hours so make sure you check back!

14th Nov 2007, 9:30 PM
I am more than SORRY :( :S :(...I really cant express it in words.... I just came back , I was out of town...I had internet access but not Sims 2 access....that's why my entry wasnt in..... Im sooo sorry to you goodnightpeter, and Im sorry to the fellow contestants and the judges! Also, Im sorry for myself bec I enjoyed this contest so much and really wanted to complete it! Im not a dropper kind of person so this thing is huge on me..... If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.....

15th Nov 2007, 4:12 AM
Checking in for emergency judge duty

I've sent my scores in. Good luck!

15th Nov 2007, 2:28 PM
I was just wondering if everyone was doing OK on Round Three? I know I still have to post the bonus round, but since Round Three is supposed to be due in 2 days, I was wondering if you just wanted to combine Three and Four so you have until the 22nd. I know I've asked this like a zillion times, but I really don't want anyone else to have to drop out.

EDIT - I have a better idea. I will combine Round 3/4 and if everyone has their entries in by the 17th, I'll just think of a new idea for Round 4.

EDIT 2 - Bonus round has been posted.

15th Nov 2007, 2:30 PM
i would like that as i havnt started yet cause i want to see my score to see what i should improve on

Score: 107/120
You had a good idea, I just would’ve like to see you execute it a little differently. Posing your Sims to look more like a picture. Your bonus picture isn’t there.
I liked the shot of them around all those trees. Very nice!!
You didn't do your bonus task, so you didn't get any points for that. I found your main tasks really cute anyway! It's also really adorable that they spend time together all the time so I gave you some more points for that. You could have been a bit more creative, but you did well this round.
I thought your idea was very original! Wonderful pictures. No bonus task though. :(

Ben Robinson
Score: 119/120
You had a very nice concept; I love the trip to the zoo. Very nicely done on the bonus task, what a good dad!
I liked the picture of them having a pillow fight. Lily's so cute in her pajamas! Very good!
I love how you put kangaroos in the pic - and the rest of your round 2 really gives me that warm fuzzy feeling, well, all I can say is mission accomplished!
Perfect score from me! Wonderful idea and A+ on the zoo picture.

Xylar Gotham
Score: 101.5/120
Your answers didn’t really make sense, you talked about your “little girls” but according to your application you only have one daughter. I think you could have done something different that would’ve been better for your bonus task.
All your pictures are so cute! I loved the one of all three of them laying under the stars. So sweet!
I found it quite weird that Xylar was afraid of the dark since he's a goth, but goth just means you wear black, nothing else. In the 2nd photo, you really disappointed me! Lathia should have been doing something, but she was just sitting on a tree stump. The bonus task required Lathia to be sick, but she was pretending to be sick, so I marked you down a bit, but I love me chickens!
Nice idea, but I feel like you could have done more. Also, you have started to portray this family very differently than you did at the beginning. They started off as appearing to be more on the Gothic side, but in this round they look more like an average suburban family. There's nothing wrong with that except for the fact that we lose sight of Xylar's personality.

Jessie Indie
Score: 103/120
Your second picture doesn’t look like a picture, it would’ve been better if your sims weren’t just standing there. I would’ve liked your last picture to be something different. You could’ve gone more creative with your bonus task.
Very creative vacation! I loved the kimonos!! I want one! :b Great job!
Well, I really liked your Round 2 but what I would have liked even more would be seeing Mitch and Jessie do more Japanese stuff. The kids are really cute in their kimonos though! As far as the bonus task, well, I loved Jessie's determination to make Caleb feel okay, because jumping on a bench isn't exactly the comfiest (or safest) thing to do.
Nice idea's, however try making your photo's a little less "posed." Let's see some more action shots. :)

Barry Scrimgeour
Score: 117/120
Beautiful pictures. Excellent bonus idea.
I loved all your pictures! A lot of detail in them. Great job!!
I loved the whole camping scene, and they're a tight-knit family, but other than that, I didn't really see much. Your bonus task was kind of ho-hum as well, but it's cute so I gave you a point.
I love all the detail in your pictures. Wonderful!

Thomas Bernouilli
Score: 121/120
I love your pictures, your story line is great. Very creative and well thought out bonus picture.
Very nice pictures! I liked the one when they're all on the observatory thingy lol. Good job!
A perfect score! I was rather amused by the observatory bit, their party looked really fun as well! I hope Stefanie and Thomas get together - they're really, really, cute.
Love it. Perfect score!

Thanks to Annelae for stepping in as an emergency judge this round!

Also, if you have any concerns about your score/comments, please PM me instead of posting in the contest thread.

2 things lol with little girls he means his daughter and wife and with the personality thing thats what im trying to do show that he acts all tough and gothic infront of people but really inside hes still the geeky lil dad im gonna be really horrible now but im going to drop out i dont think the judges are getting what im trying to portray and its upsetting me a bit sorry

First of all:
Also, if you have any concerns about your score/comments, please PM me instead of posting in the contest thread.

Please don't drop out. I don't know if you've ever judged before, but it takes a lot of time. The judges take up time from their personal lives to critique your entry and by dropping out due to their comments, you are basically saying you don't appreciate what they have to say. You specifically stated just a few minutes ago:
i would like that as i havnt started yet cause i want to see my score to see what i should improve on
The judge's have told you what to improve on, but apparently you don't want that anymore?

If you have anything further to say, please PM me like I asked.

Me, Myself, and I

Three Lakes Herald: What do you do in your free time, Ben?
Ben Robinson: It may sound corny to you, but my free time, however rare, is almost always spent with my daughter, Lily. We have a great time together, and I know it means a lot to her that I take time out of my busy schedule and just hang out with her.

TLH: Tell us more about your occupation.
BR: I'm a mailroom technician, which is a pretty miserable job in a big company like mine. What makes it worse is... well, Three Lakes is a small town so I won't mention any names, but... you know how bosses can be. Anyway, I'm hoping to get promoted soon, even though I worry about how my working more hours would affect Lily.

TLH: What is your favorite childhood memory?
BR: I can remember perfectly the first time that I beat my father at our backyard baseball game; and let me tell you, he'd die before he'd let me win on purpose! At first, Dad pretended to be mad, but I knew how proud he was of me.

Click me! (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs121&d=07465&f=round3baseball.jpg)

TLJ: What were you like in high school?
BR: As a teenager? Well, you know... well, every high schooler has a rebellious period at some point, but I was pretty well - Lily! What are you doing? Please don't give that picture to the nice interviewer! Where did you get that anyway?
BR: Okay, yeah, I was into the garage band thing for awhile. It was fun! Plus, my mom hated it. I think one of my buddies - the guitar player, actually - took that photo. (By the way, can I please have the picture back? What? No?!) It was in the yearbook, and I thought I looked so cool.

Click me! (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs121&d=07465&f=round3teen.jpg)

TLJ: Who is your best friend?
BR: Since high school, my best friend has been my buddy Tom. We've been pals through thick and thin, good and bad, and all that jazz. It's too bad I don't see him more often. I'm busy with work and parenting, though, and I hear he moved all the way out to Riverblossom Hills.

TLJ: What is your favorite food?
BR: Definitely homemade buttermilk pancakes. Mm-mmm! Eating good pancakes always brings back great childhood - and more recent - memories. My mother's recipe is the best, and she's given it to me, but when I try my hand at making them, they never turn out the way hers do.

TLJ: Do you have any pets?
BR: Actually, I don't. My wife loved animals and Lily inherited that from her, but I'm very allergic to any kind of fur. Those new Womrat things are supposed to be hypo-allergenic, though, so we may invest in one of those in the future.

TLJ: What is the most important trait you look for in a wife?
BR: I haven't dated much since... well, you know, but I've thought about that question a little bit. A sense of humor is important, and a nice smile. Intelligence, of course, and love for children - especially my child. Well, I just described my wife, didn't I?

TLJ: Describe yourself in one word.
BR: One word? Loving.

TLJ: Why are you "The World's Coolest Dad," Ben?
BR: The father is an important figure in a child's life, and so many dads these days aren't doing such a good job. I feel like I've dedicated my life to my daughter. I care more about her happiness than my own! Is that even healthy? :P

Bonus Task

My mom drove Lily and two of her friends out to the pretty woods around Lake Ramaswami for a picnic. I met them all there... wearing a pink gorilla suit! I may be the world's coolest dad, but no dad could resist embarrassing his daughter just a little on her tenth birthday. After I took some pictures and changed clothes, we nibbled on cake and chatted. Then the girls put on bathing suits and splashed in the lake until dark.

Me, Myself, and I

WBD(Worlds Best Dad)-We caught up with the elusive Jessie indie and asked him for an interview, and to our suprise he agreed. He also said that we could publish it, look for it in the newspaper this weekend.

~WBD: Tell us more about your occupation.
~Jessie: Err..well it's complicated. Let's just say I do work for alot of people, it mainly involves making sure certain people are doing what is expected of them. And if they're not I'm supposed to "Take Care" of them. That's all on this subject can we move on?

~WBD: Do you have any pets?
~Jessie: Just one I've got a womrat that I adore. He's so cute and fuzzy, Mitch brought him home one night for me. We had had an argument and he felt bad about it, so he handed me this warm, fuzzy little thing. I adore him.

~WBD: What do you do in your free time?
~Jessie: I paint, mainly our family. Mitch just loves to pose for me, i loved to paint in college and it's just stayed with me. Beside my other "Job" I do sell paintings on the side but those are mainly landscapes and other things I get comissioned for.

~WBD: Who is your best friend?
~Jessie: *Blush* That would be Mitch, he's always there for me. He's never let me down, we've gone through h*ll and back and he's never once left my side.

~WBD: What is your favorite childhood memory?
~Jessie: Hmm..probably when the new kid moved in down the street from where I used to live. Little did I know we'd end up together and married *winks at Mitch*.

~WBD: What were you like in High School?
~Jessie: Do I need to tell you? I was horrible, my family had moved away from my old neighborhood and Mitch. I knew noone, I got into drugs and drinking and my life had begun to spiral downwards. Highschool was bad for me, I somehow managed to graduate though and move to college.

~WBD:What's you're favorite food?
~Jessie: Can I say everything? I LOVE to eat but Asian food is probably my favorite, I like Soba noodles and Teriyaki chicken. Especially the way Mitch fixes it.

~WBD: What is the most important trait you look for in a wife/husband?
~Jessie: Honesty and commitment, and Mitch has these and more. He's the perfect husband, what more can I say?

~WBD: Describe yourself in one word.
~Jessie: only one? Mitch says I'm unusual, so I guess that would be it. I'm not your typical dad, i'm more like a kid myself most of the time. But I can be serious when I need to be.

~WBD: Why are you "The World's Coolest Dad?"
~Jessie: Well, I take care of a huge house. I have five children and have managed to raise them all well. They're all getting A's in school and are transferring into Private School soon, they've all been approved. I take care of my pet and STILL manage my "Job", and take care of Mitch. What I do is not easy, you try rasing five children *Grins*. but I wouldn't trade my life for anyone's I love the way things are right now, they're perfect.

Elle wanted a telescope for her birthday, since she was adopted most of her birthdays were forgotten. This is the first one she's celebrated since she was about 3, so Mitch and I wanted to do something special. We wanted to see her light up and smile, so we got her exactly what she wanted a telescope. The look on her face, the expression in her eyes was enough. Mitch and I knew we had done something very special, and from that moment on she started calling us both "Daddy". It was avery special day for the three of us.

16th Nov 2007, 6:01 PM
Love your entry Daisie :D .... especially the work one....!
I keep thinking what my entry would've been like....It's such an interesting round! :s

16th Nov 2007, 8:33 PM
1. What do you do in your free time? I love playing the guitar!! My son has this game called Guitar Hero, that we would play together for hours and eventually we both decided to take lessons and learn to play a real guitar. It's been a lot of fun and a great stress reliever!

2. Tell us more about your occupation: I'm currently a detective for Tirisfal Glades, where we live. There isn't much crime here, but I really enjoy being able to help piece together evidence to capture criminals.

3. What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory was my 10th birthday. I was so excited about entering a double digit age, I thought I was the coolest. My mom and dad pretended like they had forgotten (as if I would've let them) and just when I started getting really bummed out they gave me a large box with holes in it. It was a puppy that I named Dirt, he became my best friend for many years.

4. What were you like in High School? I was such a nerd!! Glasses, braces, the whole deal. Here, I'll show you a picture of me in 10th grade *hides face in shame*

5. Who is your best friend?
My best friend is a my cousin, Gulliver. He and I share the same devilishly handsome looks (wink, wink) and sexy pointy elven ears and a passion for bowling.

6. What's you're favorite food? Italian! All of it! Fettucini, Spaghetti, Ziti, Lasagna! It's so cheesy and filling and yummy.

7. Do you have any pets? Dirt passed away when I was in college and we didn't have any other pets until when Noah was a kid and we got him a womrat named Herbert.

8. What is the most important trait you look for in a wife/husband? Kindness. Daisy is the sweetest woman I know. She's a very gentle mother and this has to be my favorite quality of hers.

9. Describe yourself in one word: Fun.

10. Why are you "The World's Coolest Dad?" I think I'm the coolest Dad because my son and I kind of grew up together. I was still pretty young when he was born and I made it a point to play with him and include him in activities. To this day, even in his rebellious teenage stage, we are very, very close. He knows he can tell me anything.

Noah just recently turned 16. Since he is our only child, we were able to splurge on him. He's such a sweet kid, I know he never expected anything this big but the look on his face was worth every penny.

NORTH ELBRIDGE -- It's Saturday, and the man I'm about to interview has no time for playing around this weekend. Who is he, you might ask? A big businessman? A frustrated and overworked attorney? Nope, just Thomas Bernouilli, a resident UFO Investigator at North Elbridge Society for the Paranormal. And, more importantly.. a busy father. Weekends are a time to kick back and relax for most us, but Thomas says he has a full schedule this weekend. Not only does he have to take his son, Baxter, to compete in the city spelling bee, he has a big date on Sunday.. AND he's competing in the World's Coolest Dad Contest. His motivation? He says the prize money will help him send his son to a prestigious college, and he hopes winning ownership of the Dusty Nickel will help him open up his first business, something he has always wanted to do. So, without further ado, let's get this interview started!

SANDY - What do you do in your free time?

THOMAS - Free time?! What free time? Okay, so I may not have much free time, but when Baxter and I are just sitting around at home with nothing more pressing to do, we usually order pizza and cuddle up together on the sofa to watch cartoons. I just like to be with my son, but I do admit that watching cartoons is just as fun for me as it is for him! I guess I'm just a big kid.

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_r3-1.png)

SANDY - Nothing wrong with that!

THOMAS - No, not really! It means I genuinely have fun with Baxter. Spending time with my son is never a chore. Some parents just can't be bothered - too busy doing "adult" things.

SANDY - So Thomas, tell us more about your occupation.

THOMAS - Well, I'm a UFO investigator. Of course, even before I was abducted, I believed in the paranormal.. it was my college major, after all! And in this town, paranormal is pretty commonplace. Rather than speculate on the existence of aliens and other otherworldly beings, we take their existence for granted. What we do here at the office is track UFO activity and learn all we can about the different alien cultures. We don't know nearly as much as we want to, and it's fascinating to learn about them. I'm careful not to make Baxter feel like an oddity because of my job. I try to keep him away from most of my coworkers, who might treat him like a lab rat.. that is, except for Stephanie, who is an alien herself.

SANDY - Let's go back in the past a little.. What is your favorite childhood memory?

THOMAS - Well, my childhood was very good.. there's one thing that stands out, though. My big brother, Ciro, was in the military for a while. The day he left for war was the saddest day of my life. I loved and idolized my big brother, and I hated seeing him leave. He's twelve years older than me, and though I was young, I knew that my brother might not ever come home. The day he stepped off of that plane safe and sound and ran to wrap me in a big hug.. that is my favorite childhood memory. I still remember the look on my mother's face. We were all so happy that day.

SANDY - Let's travel just a little from your childhood and talk about your teen years. What were you like in High School?

THOMAS - I was kinda nerdy back in high school. Glasses? Check. Strange interest in astronomy and the paranormal? Check. Played WAY too much chess? Checkmate! Yep, I was your average nerd. But I wasn't picked on as much as you might expect.. I went to a prestigious school and most of the people there were nerdy in their own way. We did have our own cliques, and maybe I got a few swirlies, but I'd say I made it out without too much permanent damage!

SANDY - Ouch! So, Thomas, who is your best friend? And don't say your son!

THOMAS - Stephanie. Definitely. I met her at work. She's also a UFO investigator because wants to learn more about her home planet.. she doesn't know much about it because she has a human dad, just like Baxter. We just sorta clicked right from the start. She's so funny and sweet.. she makes me feel just like a teenager again. Oh man, I hope I have more luck with her than I did with girls back then!

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_3-3.png)

SANDY - A less personal question now, what's you're favorite food?

THOMAS - My favorite food? Hands down.. my mother's homemade pie. My mother loves cooking and baking.. which is good, because Baxter and I love eating at Grandma's! It's a real treat for Baxter, especially since I can't cook at all. There's nothing in this world like your mom's warm pie to cheer you up. The first bite.. no, the first SMELL of cherry pie reminds me of home and comfort.

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/full_r3-4.png)

SANDY - Do you have any pets?

THOMAS - Not until recently, but we've just adopted a funny little pup named Oliver, "Olly" for short. He's cute, but he really makes me sneeze! Well, I did it for Baxter, you know.. and Baxter loves him. He's actually much more responsible with the dog than I expected! We love to take him for walks together. I try to stay away from him most of the time because I'm allergic, but I just can't help cuddling him. I might actually play with him more than Baxter does! The things we do for our kids, huh? Secretly, though, I've always wanted a dog too.

SANDY - I heard you're single right now. What is the most important trait you look for in a wife?

THOMAS - I've never been married, so I've asked myself this question a few times. What exactly am I looking for? Besides the obvious things, like loyalty and understanding, I think, more than anything else, I want a girl with a sense of humor. I really hate it when people don't know how to laugh at life and themselves. Sometimes you just can't take things too seriously or you'll go under very quickly. Laughing doesn't solve everything, and of course, she should be able to be serious too... but a girl who can make me laugh is something I find very attractive.

SANDY - Describe yourself in one word.

THOMAS - Quirky.

SANDY - Finally, why are YOU "The World's Coolest Dad?"

THOMAS - Well, Baxter told me I am and you should believe everything my son says... he's a genius! Actually, I think being "The World's Coolest Dad" is only about being the coolest in the eyes of your children. If your kids think you're the coolest, then you're doing something right. Who cares about what the rest of the world thinks? If it works for your family, then good! Every dad should try to be the "World's Coolest Dad" to their kids. Our kids are, after all, the most important thing in the world. I know Baxter is to me.

SANDY - Thank you, Thomas, for letting us interview you. Good luck in the competition!

THOMAS - Thank you for the honor, Sandy. It was my pleasure.

Baxter's 11th birthday was coming up and I wasn't sure what to do for it. Normally, I throw big themed parties, but I just wasn't feeling my usual creative self. I picked up a magazine for some inspiration, and there on the inside cover was an ad for Pirate's Cove. It would be perfect! Baxter loved pirates, and this would be our first vacation in a long time.We would get to ride on a cruise line for the first time and my new fiance would get a chance to meet my mom and brother! Unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side and it turned out that the tickets were sold out for the dates we needed. I didn't let this stop me, though. We went out to a costume shop and purchased some pirate costumes and accessories, and planned our own pirate birthday party! I like to think it was better than some stupid cruise, anyway!

1. What do you do in your free time?

Well, to be honest I don't really get much free time, Joanne works long hours so most of my time is spent with Maggie and Allie. When I do get an evening to myself I like to get together with my old uni friends and have a poker evening, and on the rare occasion I get a whole day to my self I like to go to the gym or go to the footie.

2. Tell us more about your occupation:

I'm a househusband, so it's really just general housework and looking after Maggie and Allie. Now that Allie is in school I've been looking for some work that will fit in with school hours and holidays, unsurprisingly there isn't much available, but I have an interview for a Playground Assistant at one of the local primary schools next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

3. What is your favorite childhood memory?

My favourite childhood memory was going on a camping holiday with my parents, my older brother, and my aunt and uncle. We travelled up the west coast of Scotland and I remember on of the campsites we stayed at was full of sheep (they kept the grass short!), our dog Mandy would go mad barking in the middle of the night if they came too close to our tent! It was the year Prince Charles married Lady Diana and on the day of the wedding my dad hooked up a portable TV to the car battery and we all crowded round to watch it. Those were the days!

4. What were you like in High School?

I guess I was okay. I got good grades and though I wasn't one of the "popular" people I had plenty of friends. I could tell you a story or two! (But I won't, I don't want to spoil my parents image of me!).

5. Who is your best friend?

My best friend is Andrew, we grew up next door to each other and though he's a few years older than me we've always got along and managed to stay friends over the years.

6. What's you're favorite food?

Mmmm... Donuts! What can I say? I've got a sweet tooth!

7. Do you have any pets?

Don't get me started on pets! Allie begged me to buy her a hamster, she went on and on and on about it, promising she would look after it, until she eventually wore me down. She loves to play with it but guess who ends up feeding it and cleaning out the cage?

8. What is the most important trait you look for in a wife?

It would definitely have to be honesty. You can get through most things in life if you are honest with each other.

9. Describe yourself in one word:

10. Why are you "The World's Coolest Dad?"

Don't ask me, ask my girls. I devote my life to them and am there for them 24/7.

:D Managed to do the Bonus Task after all!

Maggie's14th Birthday

For Maggie's birthday we chose a Japanese theme, everybody dressed up in kimono's, well, apart from Allie, she insisted on being a Princess! We had a great time, even though I caught one of the boys trying to spike the punch!

FYI - I accidentally forgot to add 1 bonus point for submitting your entries on time for round two, so the scores from round two has been updated.

I will post round four once I figure out the details. I'm actually really excited about this final round. :)

We will eliminate two this round, HOWEVER, I am in the process of finding/creating a gift for all five of you because I really appreciate how much you've put into this contest. All of you have had outstanding entries throughout the contest and have always gotten your entries in on time. Since we've had 7 dropouts/no shows, I really appreciate those of you who have stuck around. :)

17th Nov 2007, 5:34 PM
Hehe don't you mean round 4 instead of 3? I hope I speak for everyone here but I'm definantly hoping you'll do a second cycle of this, I'm loving this contest and the idea of it. There's not many contests out there for guys, so i jumped on this one immediatly. i've got so many great dads in my game :). Great job with it too and the judges are really quick. It's very well organized for your first contest, good job with it.

Haha, thanks for catching that!

I have to admit that I was kind of discouraged about doing a second cycle after all the dropouts and no shows. I don't know if 6 people just coincidently got really busy at the same time or if maybe the contest was just too hard or too boring. I was kind of thinking about doing "The World's Coolest Kid" or something like that, but if everyone likes the whole Dad idea, I'll totally stick with that.

17th Nov 2007, 6:15 PM
It's not too hard or too boring at all. The round ideas were original, cute, and fun to complete, and you've done a great job hosting. So please don't be discouraged!

BTW, "World's Coolest" anything sounds great to me. :)

17th Nov 2007, 6:44 PM
I agree with Daisie, I'll gladly enter. That's the thing about contest, i've had my share of it, believe me. But I always come back, like my Mafia Sims. You'll always have dropouts and noshows no matter how well and how good the contest is, it just happens but don't let it get you down :). Try and try again. By the way my bonus task is up.

18th Nov 2007, 5:45 AM
Alright, round three is closed. I will PM the judges and post round four in a few minutes. Keep in mind that two of you will be leaving us this round.

18th Nov 2007, 6:07 AM

Well, we can all agree that you have earned yourself some celebrity status due to the fact that you're quite possibly the world's coolest Dad. Instead of signing autograph's or hosting the town's poshest party, you decide to give back to the community, because, well, that's what the world's coolest Dad does. Whether it be helping out at the town's animal shelter or cleaning up a neighborhood park, you're the guy who's going to make a difference.

What do you do to help out the community? Do you help build a new home for a less fortunate family? Take in stray animals and give them a place to live? Host a fund raiser? The options are endless. Everyone could use a little help!

Post 1-4 pictures of you doing something to help out the community.
The amount of pictures you chose to post will not affect your score, as long as it looks like you put some effort into them.
Involve your family! You can't be the world's coolest Dad without them. And we know the world's coolest Dad has the world's coolest family who are willing to help out the community.
Please include a short description explaining how you helped your community.

"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."
- Clarence Budington Kelland

Whether your Dad was your best friend or your worst enemy, there's got to be at least thing you admire about him, if not more. We want to meet the man that helped make you the man you are today.

Only one picture is required.
Please post a picture of you and your Dad. It could be a current picture, or a picture from your youth.
If you did not have a father figure in your childhood, post a picture of you and your primary guardian. Maybe it was your mother, aunt, grandparent, etc.
You can earn up to 3 bonus points by completing this round.

Deadline - November 23rd, 12PM Eastern.

18th Nov 2007, 12:53 PM
Is the bonus task a picture of our real life Dad's or Sim dad's from the kid's Point of view?

18th Nov 2007, 1:47 PM
Is the bonus task a picture of our real life Dad's or Sim dad's from the kid's Point of view?

It's Andrew's Dad. It can be a current picture or a picture from when Andrew was younger.

18th Nov 2007, 3:16 PM
Cool round! This could very well be a stupid question, but is 12PM midnight or noon? :p

18th Nov 2007, 3:37 PM
Noon (I think). It might change though because it's "Black Friday" and I'll probably be out Christmas shopping all morning. So it's kind of pointless to end the round that early if I'm not even going to be home. I just wanted to end it early because it's the last day we have to run the contest and I want the judges to be able to get their scores in by the end of the night.

EDIT - Just waiting on one judge. I haven't heard from them since round one though so if I don't hear anything by tonight, I'll grab our emergency judge again.

Your pictures were good. I especially like the 10th grade one. Very nice bonus picture.
Great interview! I loved the high school picture!
Well Written, Good photos, great bonus shot...his face..haha
I loved the high school picture. I wish my parents got my a mustang for my 16th birthday!

Score: 97/100
I thought your answers we’re well thought out and your pictures reflected them well. The picnic idea is very cute.
Very good interview! I thought the bonus pic could've been more creative though.
GREAT pictures, especially the first, felt camera angle of bonus shot could have been better, Overall a good job!
You get a perfect score from me! I love the way you set up your interview. Very creative. Although your bonus task was simple, I thought it was a good idea.

Jessie Indie
Score: 86/100
It looks like all of your pictures except for one were taken at night. Your answer for the “job” question would make me suspicious you’re doing something illegal. It’s nice that she started calling them both daddy after that.
Very nice!! I loved the girl's expression in the bonus pic.
Lovely story, Jessie seems quite content, though i felt the camera angle once again let this down....
I wish you would have included your children more in your interview. We hear a lot about Mitch (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and very little about the kids that you call you Dad. I love Elle's expression in the bonus task!

Barry Scrimgeour
Score: 96.5/100
I would’ve liked hearing from him why he should be the Worlds Greatest Dad. Cute party theme idea.
Good job!! I thought the birthday theme was a bit weird but creative as well!
Fabulous.... Great angles, the quality was high, perfect story, great effort!
I love the third picture. Barry's expression is priceless! I thought the answers to your questions were very unique and I really enjoyed the interview.

Thomas Bernoulli
Score: 100/100
Your answers were all well thought out and your pictures reflected them perfectly. Love the pirate theme.
Great job! I loved the whole brother in the military and going off to war picture. Very sweet.
Great story, who doesnt like their mums home made stuff?, Good job!
Absolutely wonderful! It's obvious you really put a lot of time into your entry and I really enjoyed reading through it. I love how you made it into a real interview with extra dialogue. Also, Thomas is so funny! The picture's were so full of detail and the "Family Reunion" picture was genius. A+!

Andrew Lockheart (ChihoSan) 293/320
Jessie Indie (Kakashi_Katake) 275/320

Thank you so much for staying in the contest and creating such wonderful entries. As you can see the scores are all very close! Both of you will receive a "gift" I am working on. I will send it tonight or tomorrow.

Aw nuts. It's cool though, Congrats to everyone who passed on and THANK YOU GoodnightPeter for such a fun and unique contest :)

I liked this contest and well his job is sort of something illegal, he's in the local Mafia. He couldn't come right out and say it though :). I'm happy with just getting to the fourth round as this was only his second contes that i've entered him in.

20th Nov 2007, 12:27 AM
goodnightpeter this has to be one of the most unique contests i've seen in a great while. Congratulations on your well deserved feature :) I regret not having sims access and have applied. I hope there will be a future cycle

'Tis the Season!

Lily and I decided that a great way to give back to the community would be to hold a carwash fundraiser for charity. We posted signs along the highway and told everyone we knew to come along to help.

Late Saturday morning, Lily and I were setting up when my boss arrived. She wasn't keen on helping us out, but she did allow us to wash her car (for a generous fee, of course) and give it a good shine.

During a lull in business later that morning, Lily and her friend Liz cooled off with a good old-fashioned water balloon fight while I talked with a customer.

My mom had heard about our fundraiser, and she brought her good friend (really!) the mayor of Three Lakes to get his expensive sportscar washed! By then Lily was getting pooped, so she and Liz played Mary Mack while I scrubbed and Mom and the mayor chatted.

We washed around thirty cars total that day, and Lily learned a great lesson about giving back and helping others. We found the local homeless shelter's office as soon as the parking lot was cleaned up. The secretary there looked wary of me in my sweaty, soapy bowling shirt and old sunglasses, but she was thrilled when we handed over the money we'd made. I was proud to see Lily's happy smile as the woman took it.

Round Four

I was visiting my mom and watching her cook her delicious cherry pie when she told me about her best friend Annie, who recently had to move to a retirement home. Her husband had passed away and her son was unable to care for her by himself. My mom was concerned that she'd be bored at the home... after all, it's more of a hospital than a home. I remembered Annie from when I was younger and I felt bad.. and when I started thinking about how bored she and the other residents must be, I thought of a brilliant plan.

That weekend I had planned to call up my old buddies from Universtity and meet them for coffee. But what if I changed my plans? What if we scheduled a free concert at the retirement home, just to raise spirits? We might be a little rusty on our instruments, but I was confident we could still rock the house. Our kids could come along and help! Not only would I get to meet my buddies and their families, we'd make a difference, hold a rockin' concert just like the old days, and teach our kids about giving back to the community. It was the perfect plan! I was psyched about the idea, and when I called Hamilton, Mark, and Reggie, they all agreed.

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/round4-1_full.png)

The concert was a hit! The residents loved it and everyone had a great time, especially the kids. I got to meet Hamilton's son, Sam, and Reggie's daughter Bailey. Mark doesn't have any kids - I wasn't surprised, he's not really the type. It was great seeing the guys again.. Sam, Bailey and Baxter got along great and will definitely be playing together again sometime soon.

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/round4-2_full.png)

We all had lunch with Annie, though we stopped to talk with each resident. She was ecstatic to have us visit her, and she cheered right up. We talked about when I was a kid.. unfortunately, she embarrassed me more than once by sharing stories I'd rather she hadn't! But seeing the smile on everyone's face was so worth it.

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/round4-3_full.png)

After the concert, I took Olly inside to meet some of the residents. I've heard that sometimes having animal visitors in hospitals or retirement homes can be good for your health. After seeing the reaction of some of the residents, I couldn't agree more! Everyone adored Olly and he definitely made some new friends. I'm going to enter him into a program so he can visit hospitals and retirement homes.. just sharing that little bit of joy with the people there will add so much to their lives, and mine as well. Of course, Baxter is coming with me to the classes and he's all about training Olly to be a therapy dog! I'm so glad my little guy is growing up to be so socially conscious.

Click here for full-view! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/round4-4_full.png)

As for me and the guys, we're planning a musical comeback! Even though life is so busy, we're gonna get together more often, pratice, and who knows? Maybe we'll put out another record! Even if we don't, nothing beats having good friends.

Click here for full-size! (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/refinedandroid/round4bonus-1.png)

For the first ten years of my life, my dad was my best friend. Unfortunately, most of my memories of my father were of him in the hospital.. he was critically ill for most of my childhood, and he passed away when I was Baxter's age. Despite that, I loved him with all my heart and he taught me so many lessons just lying there in his hospital bed. He was the best father ever, even though he never had the opportunities with me that most dads have. I will never forget him, and I make sure Baxter knows what a great grandad he has. I only wish he were here to meet Baxter.. they'd be the best of friends.

First of all, Daisie and refined andoid, your entries are stunning! Honestly, they are so amazing.

Also, I know I said I was making some gifts for the top five and they would be done a few days ago, but I haven't been able to finish yet. Someone I know experienced a terrible tragedy and therefore my mind has been elsewhere. I hope you understand. I will finish it this week though. :)

Thanks so much, goodnightpeter ^__^ I'm really thrilled you think my entry was good.. I was afraid it was kinda crummy this time, and I wasn't totally happy with it, but I didn't feel very good at all so I decided to leave it as is. I understand what you mean about tragedies.. I was feeling pretty bad (my kitty died..) and I even considered dropping out, but I'd feel too guilty, plus it IS the last round, so.. I hope your friend is okay.

Daisie, I really like your entry.. it was so cute and creative, and you're REALLY good at getting good pictures.. you need to teach me your secrets!

22nd Nov 2007, 7:24 PM
Don't worry GNP, we understand, and I'm so sorry about whatever happened.

And thank you for the compliments, guys. I'm really proud of my entry this round. Refined Android, your entry looks great! Such a cute idea, and really nice pictures! :)

23rd Nov 2007, 11:52 AM
Romyhorse unfortunately has to drop out due to a glitch in her game, so the final round is closed! Judges please get your scores into me ASAP! The contest is supposed to end today.

Good luck Ben and Thomas!

Just waiting on one judge. Results should hopefully be up today before I go to work.

I'm so excited!

Score: 98.5/100
It's really sad about the dad passing away and all, and the picture was really cute but I'd like to have seen more of Ben's face. I like the main tasks but I would have like to seen more of a close-up of his face. The picture compostion was gorgeous though.
Beautiful Pictures and well thought out! A GREAT end this this Fab contest! Well Done...
Very nice job!! The picture of him with his father as a boy was very sweet.
I love the picture of him and his father. I think it's my favorite picture from all the entries throughout the entire contest. Amazing job!

Thomas Bernouilli
Score: 99.5/100
I would have liked to see some text because I like to see a little back-story on the mini-tasks and stuff, but you did well, overall. I love how Lily is helping out...how sweet!
Wonderful Story! Photos could have been a little better, But still a great job!
Very good pics!! I liked the first one of them in a band and all the sick people watching them. Good job. :)
Again, amazing detail in both the pictures and the description. Awesome entry as usual.

In second place we have...

Ben Robinson!

That means the winner is...

Thomas Bernouilli!
(refined android)

Congratulations to all the contestants, and especially refined android. I really enjoyed hosting this contest and I hope that you all join the next "The World's Coolest..." contest.

Daisie and refined android, I will PM you shortly about your prizes.

Yay! Congrats to refined android and all the other contestants, and thank you to GNP and the judges for a fun, competitive contest. :D

Um, however, there seems to have been a mix-up with the first judge's comments (and scores?), as Lily was in my entry and the father's death was in refined android's.

Hm. That's how the comments were sent to me but it does seem backwards. I'll ask. If the scores were mixed up however, it's only a difference of 2 points so refined android is still the winner. Thanks for pointing that out though. :)
