View Full Version : Build That House! Cycle 2 [Finished]

7th Mar 2008, 4:21 AM
Welcome to Build that House Cycle 2, the design and building contest that tests your skills as a Sims House builder!
If you missed the first cycle, heres what the deal is: Build that House is a building contest with a twist… you must build from a set of real floor plans that I will provide you with. As the rounds progress, the plans will become more intricate (I will try to keep them within the boundaries of sims building and there will be a bit of leeway given.) Are you up for the challenge?

1 - Just one entry per person, please.
2 – Though this probably won’t be a very newbie friendly contest anyone may enter, whether you have been here 3 hours or 3 years.
3 - You are -required- to use the floorplan provided. It is the point of the contest, and if you don't, you will be immeadiately disqualified.
4 - There is no budget, go crazy.
5 - All forum rules apply. Always.
6 - If you have some sort of issue please pm me
7 - Be polite and nice to people, please. If you don't, I shall kick you out [to put it bluntly].
8 - No asking "Where'd you get that?!" See rule 5.
9 - Don’t clutter up the thread with chatter, please.
10 – Have Fun!

Application Round (Round One): March 20-27
Round Two: March 29-April 4
Round Three: April 6-11
Round Four: April 13-19

There will be NO extensions... I've done these in the past and they do not work so please please please don't ask.

Besides just building the house from the floor plans, you will also be required to decorate the outside (landscaping, pools, decks etc) and to provide plumbing and appliances for the inside (basically the things that you would find in a new house).

Application Round

Here is your floor plan and a picture of the house. The pictures that I am looking for are: one aerial of each floor (this house only has one floor so only one this round), a picture of the front of the house and TWO (yes TWO) free shots.

Looking forward to you joining!

Haha... wow I was expecting to go onto the waiting list. :D

Anyways I'm here so start posting your apps!

21st Mar 2008, 6:00 PM
Hey, great contest =) I have a question: Is it required to make the outside look like the picture as well? I'm thinking of the landscaping?

22nd Mar 2008, 4:14 AM
Where is the floor plan and the pictures for the Applications?

Edit: Opps you just posted it. App will be in tomorrow if game works.

23rd Mar 2008, 1:50 AM
might be able to get one in by monday night?

23rd Mar 2008, 8:34 PM
Lol worst weekend ever for a contest to start. :D Since theres no judging for the app round, the app round is through till the first day of round one so whenever you can get it in is great!

Sawcarn: Landscape how you want, it doesn't have to look how they landscaped it, just the house has to look like it

23rd Mar 2008, 11:55 PM
can you add effects to the pictures (eg. boarders, lighting) ?

24th Mar 2008, 12:30 AM
I think thats okay Infectious. I was in the last season(I think, plus Im gonna enter this one) and I always sharpened and added borders to my pics. Maybe like an obvious lens flare would be too much.

24th Mar 2008, 1:32 AM
Borders and sharpening are ok, I would prefer overphotoshopping to be left out, things like making a sun or stuff like that... And preferably no text in the pictures :D

24th Mar 2008, 2:48 AM

argh!!! i've added a sun to some of my pics,

24th Mar 2008, 4:00 AM
:) Its ok if you've already done it, since this round isn't judged (you'll get comments but no scores) but for future rounds :D

24th Mar 2008, 4:53 AM
I'm guessing we can use CC or do we have to use what's ingame? I've never tried a contest before and thought I'd try this one and wanted to be sure.

Yes, you can use any content you please :D

Everyone else: Awesome entries guys! But I still need judges!

25th Mar 2008, 5:07 AM
I hope we get some judges. Sorry for the crappy quality, I didnt realise I hadn't adjusted the settings since installing freetime until it was too late. It'll be much better next time!

I went for a very rustic mexican feel for the design of the house and stuck really closely to the floor plans though I underestimated the lot size-I needed a little more space. Overall I think it turned out really well.

OK Guys I got comments for you! I'm loving my judges this round so prompt :D

Judge One: Lovely landscaping! I like how it has a mountain-lodge feel on the exterior and how naturally it blends into the lot.
Judge Two: I love the kitchen. I don't know why I love it so much, but I do. Overall, you followed the floorplan perfectly! The exterior of the house: great job pulling that woodsy-cabin feel off.
Judge Three: I really like the rustic, foresty feel of the exterior! Very stately, and beautiful! Great job! However, I have to ask something about the floorplan... what are those two small rooms for across from the bath and the utility closet? Closing them off seems to have cramped that area of the house a bit.

Judge One: I love what you've done with the porch area! The stone walls are wonderful and give it a classic look.
Judge Two: Bedroom #1 seems to be a little too square and too wide. Bedroom #2 seems to be too rectangle. The area around the utility room is odd. I think this may be caused by making the Kitchen/Dining and Bed #1 too long. I love that you included clothing racks in the closets! I like the sitting area in the side yard; gives a nice touch.
Judge Three: This seems like a cute little suburban house. I like it! Lovely landscaping.

Judge One: The contrasts in the coloring of your exterior are fabulous! Your landscaping is very lush and really adds to the overall look.
Judge Two: The floorplan was not followed so much in the Bedroom areas; closets were left out. This does change the inside floorplan a bit. The Kitchen is very nice, perfect length. My favorite part is the landscaping! Beautiful, crisp, artistic shots!
Judge Three: Love the exterior. Just love it. However, I have to ask again... what's with the cramping of the hallway to the 2nd bedroom?

Judge One: Your desert theming is very unique and a fun spin on this layout. Your colors are bold and eye-catching!
Judge Two: Bed #2 is too lengthy. Porch off of utility is missing as well. The Kitchen is too wide looking, but I think it is only an illusion because the right window is not placed correctly. I love, love the mexican/desert feel. And hey! I like small lots! This floorplan works well with this size of lot.
Judge Three: Love the Southwestern feel of the exterior and landscaping! Very original! I can't really comment on the floorplan or anything, though, because the pic is too dark for my dying PC to see. Next time, more light!

Judge One: I like how you used the roofing which evokes a more ranch-style for the home! It has a calm and tranquil feel.
Judge Two: You followed the floorplans perfectly! The Bedrooms and the living room are a little large for my taste, but that doesn't matter since they retain their proper shapes. The landscaping is a little bland; spice it up!
Judge Three: I love the rustic, foresty feel, just like with Kattenijin's, but your version is less stately and more... homey? Cozy? I can't think of the word, but I like it. But hey! Your appliances don't match!

Judge One: Lovely use of color! I am especially fond of the interesting brick on the exterior and the detailed landscaping.
Judge Two: Perhaps you did not use this method, but it looks like you spaced the house by depending on the windows. Whether or not you did this, your house's floorplans are excellent! Only one thing, the Kitchen counter area looks a little smushed. I'm lovin' the pond!
Judge Three: Cute and country! I like it. I gotta comment on the crampedness again, though! Bedroom1 is far too small, and the hallway to Bedroom2 is so cramped!

Judge One: The use of the red and white is very nice! The pool of the back is fun in both its shape and style.
Judge Two: Missing closet by Bathroom. Bedroom #2 should not have a section jutting at the top. Utility porch is not positioned correctly. Covered Porch is not big enough. I love the Kitchen picture and the tile! Ah! What a job for the gardener! ^.^
Judge Three: Looks farmhousey! Cute! However... is it my crap computer screen that I don't see any doors? I only see them leading into the bedrooms and to what I assume is one of the closets.

Judge One: Your design has a very nice classic and well-groomed feel. I simply adore the kids' tree house addition.
Judge Two: Where'd the hallway closets go? :o The Bedrooms do not have wide, jutting sections. Utility Porch positioned incorrectly. I wish I had treehouse like that! Thumbs up on the backyard, but lets see a bit more landscaping?
Judge Three: Adorable exterior! I like that you took the suburban approach. And.. well.. I've said it to everyone else... I don't like the cramping of the hallway to the bedrooms.

However, I have to ask something about the floorplan... what are those two small rooms for across from the bath and the utility closet? Closing them off seems to have cramped that area of the house a bit.

Ummm...you mean the closets??? They are closed off on the floor plan, so they must be closed off in the home. When I build to a floorplan I try to stay true to the dimensions given, within the limitations of the game; therefore one tile is 2'8" wide. (I use 2'6" to 3' per tile depending on which fits the plan better) As a standard hall is 3' wide this translates into one tile wide, not two, which would be a minimum of 5'. This does make the spaces seem a bit tight in terms of sim use. Normally I would eliminate things like closets, but as the challenge is to follow the floorplan as accurately as possible I've left them in. Now, if the challenge were to translate the home into a sim-friendly house, I would have made different decisions.

This would be a "sim-friendly" version of the same house:

30th Mar 2008, 12:44 AM
Is their still time to enter? Will i have to do the application or just round one?....this contest looks awsome!

Another reson why the hallway was a bit cramped was becuase that section of the house was 5 tiles wide to fit with the window placement! Closet takes up one. The bathroom 3 and that leaves 1 for the hallway! No way around that...unless you used 7 tiles wide which makes a 3 tile wide hallway!... know what i mean?

30th Mar 2008, 1:13 AM

30th Mar 2008, 1:16 AM
Yes I agree! It is very hard to translate real house floor plans into the sims game, it can be very limiting at times, and we do try to stick to the look and feel of the house as much as possible. Some things work much better on paper than they do for the game.

30th Mar 2008, 2:25 AM
yeah...im bilding it but in using 5 squares for the front bit....i have to say i think this house is my favourite so far!... *wishes i lived there*

This is Judge #2!

In response to kattenijin, you are (in my humble opinion) completely correct. This challenge is for sticking to the floorplans. Typically a 1 square hallway is a no-no in the sims, but they DO work. Plus, I believe the overhead shots make hallways look smaller nonetheless. So it is a bit of an illusion because it would definitely look larger in game.

Therefore, I personally say you stuck to the challenge and the floorplans, just like you are supposed to. I hate the cramped look as well, but again this is the challenge and we judges must consider the illusions that pictures may give us.

Good job everyone! I cannot wait for the next round's houses to come in!

7th Apr 2008, 4:04 AM
Great entries everyone ;)....I wish everyone Good Luck :thumb:.....

7th Apr 2008, 5:29 PM
Heres the floorplans for the next round... :D

7th Apr 2008, 6:59 PM
omg omg omg, that house looks amazing!!! but it also looks like a pain in the behind to build :fright:

But I like a challenge

7th Apr 2008, 7:01 PM
That roof will be fun for you! :D

7th Apr 2008, 8:32 PM
lol.. I don't even want to think about the roof

7th Apr 2008, 8:37 PM
Actually....that roof isnt too bad...some clever individualroofslopeangle cheating will do fine....

7th Apr 2008, 9:17 PM
I agree, the roof is easy, it's the extra 1/2 level at the entry that will be tricky.

7th Apr 2008, 10:07 PM
ohh boy, this round should be interesting :)

8th Apr 2008, 10:26 PM
Nice one ! Ive gotta get to work!

8th Apr 2008, 10:35 PM
I still don't have the scores from the judges yet (guess I jinxed myself :D) but its not that big of an issue since there aren't any elims. I will post them as soon as I get them I promise!

8th Apr 2008, 11:55 PM
Wow, I can't wait to see what you all can do with those floorplans!

Judging the first round was tricky, as you are all so wonderfully creative!

9th Apr 2008, 1:06 AM
I've got my basic floorplan built, but I'm not happy with it, it just doesn't look right. The garage isn't wide enough but when I make it wider it messes with the whole upstairs layout. Grrrr

I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'm going to keep the widened garage, even though it makes the second floor 1 square too wide.

Okay what do you mean by that exactly I have not tackled the floorplan yet.

Hope that helps you!

9th Apr 2008, 9:31 AM

Hope that helps you!

Exactly! Thanks Coldfloral. :)

9th Apr 2008, 2:31 PM
I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'm going to keep the widened garage, even though it makes the second floor 1 square too wide.

:D that's what I decided to do too. I was playing around with it before I went to bed lastnight and the exterior does look a lot more in proportion with the widened garage.

9th Apr 2008, 2:49 PM
When is round 2 due?

9th Apr 2008, 5:31 PM
Round Three (yeah i'm weird) is due April 11th (thats this friday) at 10pm Central Time but since we won't have elims, I will probably take them as late as noon on the 12th.

9th Apr 2008, 7:20 PM
I agree, the roof is easy, it's the extra 1/2 level at the entry that will be tricky.

Ya know, that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, lol! Now, if I could just beat my landscape into submission!

10th Apr 2008, 6:27 AM
EEP! How in the heckles am I gonna figure that one out. Maybe constrainfloorelevation or a dormer. We'll see.. trial and error. Thanx for the heads up coldfloral!

11th Apr 2008, 12:47 AM
OK guys, I have two judges scores and comments, just waiting for the third from an ej as one of our judges lost their scores and doesn't have the time to do them again.

On the round, get those entries in!

11th Apr 2008, 3:27 PM
I worked all night to try to figure out the floor plan and yes that 1 1/2 story entry is what I cant figure out. Any hints or tips if I cant figure it out I will have to drop out and I don't want to

Yes, I'm having the same issues!

Second floor

It's by no means completely true to the floor plans. I don't think this particular plan is possible to translate perfectly to the Sims world, but maybe it's just me!

Cerulean Talon has a tutorial at TSR called "Wall-Lowering Techniques" that should give you the basic idea on what you need to do to achieve that extra half story.

(S/he gives 2 methods, and I personally use Method 2. Also, note that her example is built on a foundation, where our Round 2 house is not.)

If you still need help, don't hesitate to ask!

Nice job you guys! You all just outdid yourselves with the landscaping.

12th Apr 2008, 2:16 AM
I'm having MAJOR problems with my game tonight, I'm trying to get this stuff worked out tonight, tomorrow morning the latest

12th Apr 2008, 8:30 AM
I stayed up all night to make the deadline so I hope its right and not just my 'night vision'. :)

I went for a gothic-esque feel with this home. Its very dark and brooding, maybe like the loner on a hill that kids are scared to pass. Yet it turns out to be not so scary on the inside. Enjoy!

Oh and that little half roof took me forever until around 2:30am I caved and did it the way I didnt want to originally. How'd you guys get that 2nd floor bedroom wall to stay up next to the half story wall?

12th Apr 2008, 2:05 PM
ok it's not the best I did it in like 40 min. Don't be too hard on me : )

I've not forgotten you guys! Round Closed.

One elimination this round as LESherick didn't get their entry in. I'll pm the judges and then post the next set of plans later this afternoon.

14th Apr 2008, 2:25 PM
Just waiting on the next round....everyone house are awesome. I find it fascinating how everyone can take the same floor plans and all create such different style of homes.

14th Apr 2008, 9:35 PM
Sorry these are so late guys, we are in the process of moving and we started sooner than I thought we were going to. Here are the comments from round two. Sorry again! As for the comments, give judge three a bit of a break as they are the ej I had to call in.

Judge One: Gah! What am I supposed to say, it is perfect! I love, love, love the beachy feel. Such a very attractive house! Well...I do have a little problem with the master bedroom door area...one tile too long.
Judge Two: The exterior of your home is jaw-droppingly beautiful! The landscaping and layout wonderfully encapsulates that beach-side feel. Your floorplan is very close to the original, however I did notice that the closet doors are wider (double doors) than indicated and that the extra space for the fireplace is missing (it's visible as an extension on the second floor); both of these issues were relatively minor.
Judge Three: I love the beach house as well as the landscaping. The pond in the front is a nice touch.

Judge One: Upstairs master bedroom & closet are not right. The closet is just not large enough. Landscaping could be a little more appealing.
Judge Two: The exterior of your home is very verdant! I like how the landscaping and exterior details are evocative of a cozy family home. The scaling on your floorplan looks fairly accurate on the first floor, however the way you have chosen to photograph the second floor made determining how closely it matched very difficult indeed; perhaps you could try doing a top-down image for that floor as well? From what I could tell, the Master bedroom closet seems much smaller than indicated on the original floorplan.
Judge Three: I loved the colors of the house. The plants in the front were a nice touch.

Judge One: The "great room" needs to be more square. Kitchen should be one tile longer; master bedroom one tile shorter. Stairs should not have any room around them. On a good note, the landscaping is fabulous and detailed! I love the fountain!
Judge Two: I really like the contrast between the lighter walls of the house and the darker roof color! Your landscaping is very lovely and clearly well planned. The inclusion of the greenhouse on the property seems very apropos for the overall look. The ground floor layout feels a little short along the living area and the entry area seems rather small; it also appeared that there wasn't a wall dividing off the bathroom. The second floor is nicely done, but again there appears to be a wall missing near the hall linen closet (near bedroom 2).
Judge Three: Great job with following the plans. The landscaping was beautiful, and I loved the use of color in the house.

Judge One: The landscaping is lacking...attention. The stairwell is not right...at all (there are tutorials on how to build these stairs). There is a lot of errors with the floorplan. The roof could use some work.
Judge Two: You definitely captured the suburban feel you were going for! I really like your palette of blues; it seems very cooling and serene. The neighbor watching bench is great and it has a very nice, easily maintained curb appeal. As for your floorplan, I like how you created the stairs, but overall the ratios between the length and width of the rooms feels skewed, especially with regards to the upstairs areas. I also noticed a few missing walls: the wall separating the upstairs hall linen closet and the hallway, and the wall between the downstairs bathroom and hallway.
Judge Three: Good job on your entry.

Judge One: The porch is a bit too wide. Hallway to master bedroom too wide, as well. Nice try with the stairs, XD. Stick to the floor plan. Decent landscaping. I like the backyard table, hammock, and fountain.
Judge Two: Your exterior is also quite nice! I really like how you used the plants as dividers within the yard space and you really created a relaxing and useful backyard space. I would like to suggest that you take your floorplan shots with the Walls Up mode on, as it makes spotting areas more easy; because of this, I can't tell if you've omitted doors or walls in some locations (the entryway should be open, but it appears to be completely surrounded by walls on the interior, for example). The spiral stairs were an interesting approach to dealing with the floorplan's handling of the stairwell.
Judge Three: Great job on the landscaping.

Judge One: I really hate having to deduct points for simple landscaping! More attention please! Curb appeal! Curb appeal! Again, another porch is too wide. But otherwise the floorplans were followed excellently..
Judge Two: The exterior of your home has a homey, country feel and I found your approach to exterior gardening to be a classy way of having a low maintainance yard.; it really makes the architecture the main focus of the lot. Your floorplan is rather close to the original, with minor deviations (the upstairs corner wall of the bathroom near the stairs looks as though it should be on angle, but this isn't serious). I want to applaud your manner of blurring the downstairs areas which were visible on your second floor overview; it made it very easy to differentiate the spaces and interpret your design.
Judge Three: Good job on following the plan. I love the simplicity of your landscaping.

Judge One: Another wide porch and master bedroom hallway! Ah! landscaping could use a bit more, but the street lights and fence do help a lot!
Judge Two: Your exterior looks like it's been taken right out of a quaint suburb! I love the white picket fence; it perfectly finishes the look. Your floorplan is very close to the original and nicely handles the space. I was slightly confused by the extraneous wall in the loft area of the second floor and I do believe that the corner wall of the upstairs bathroom near the stairwell should be angled, as should the downstairs corner wall of near the laundry room. Overall you have a very nice, playable home based on the provided floorplans.
Judge Three: Great job on the house. I love the addition of the fence to the outside.

Judge One: Cool backyard! But more crub appeal! Wide porch and wierd jutting part off of dining room. Upstairs hallway closet is missing. The roof angle cheat is a cool tool! *hint hint*
Judge Two: The exterior of your home is very lovely and inviting; I like how the lawn looks and how you've created a private backyard space. It is somewhat odd how the roof portion in front of the door does not appear to be supported by columns on both sides, but that really doesn't distract from it's appearance. Your floorplan is rather close to the original provided, however I notice a lack of a wall delineating the upstairs linen closet from the hallway. Your spacing is generally very nice and well thought out.
Judge Three: I love the backyard. Very nicely done.

14th Apr 2008, 9:59 PM
Here are the plans for round four! I'll have comments up from the judges when i get them in!

14th Apr 2008, 10:11 PM
You said one person is gonn abe eliminated?

14th Apr 2008, 10:40 PM
I have no comments for the judges comments afterall i did the house in hurry i completed it in like 40 min the most. All is well. I see the home plans getting bigger and bigger.

14th Apr 2008, 11:27 PM
Looking at this floorplan, what does it say on the second floor above the great room, "wall tip"? "wall tif"? "wall tie"? kinda wierd as I don't see what it could be by looking at the elevation or first floor pics. Also, in the kitchen can anyone tell whats going on on the kitchen island? It looks like another stove? I'm older, my eyes can't tell! lol! I've tried darkening the pic but still can't tell.

P.S. Anyone know where to find a two-tile door in the center of 3 tiles? LOL! Where's MaryLou when you need her ;)

15th Apr 2008, 1:32 AM
I think that the kitchen does have another stove, maybe the other one is supposed to be just an oven?

15th Apr 2008, 4:40 AM
You said one person is gonn abe eliminated?

No, LEsherick was eliminated because they didn't get their entry in but because there are so few contestants in the first place, there are no regular eliminations.

As for the "wall tie" you know i'm not sure what that is.... sorry!

15th Apr 2008, 4:56 AM
The wall tie is a beam for structural support.

15th Apr 2008, 7:26 AM
cool.. I guess Ill get to work then.:)

Just looking for three more entries! Get em in!

19th Apr 2008, 10:38 PM
Well, I'm out. I was literaly in the process of preparing my photos for upload, and my computer just died, I get the blue screen of death, the reason is "unmountable boot drive". So, I'll have to bring it in. I'm sure I'll loose the whole drive. I'm so tired of this, every computer I've bought from Best Buy has failed within the first 10 months I've had it, and they try to say it's my fault(yet they've replaced it with a new one each time)(Actually, I got a sore credit to which I added more $ to get a better system). My first computer (which is over 10 years old) STILL WORKS!! It's actually the one I'm on now over at my parents. The only reason I got a new one is because the old one can't handle newer games, When I first got the basegame Sims 2 and loaded it, it was so laggy! Imagine how it would be with all the expansions and stuff packs! (of which I just loaded Kitchen/Bath today...hmm...maybe that's what caused the crash? I don't understand why it would). Good luck to the rest of you, let me know how well I did in the first three rounds!

Well, I just got back from Best Buy. I'm told I need a new drive and a new OS; and that there is nothing they can do for me. Of course the Store Manager is off all weekend, and the MOD was a pri##! I got the MOD's name, the Store Manager's name and the District Manager's name and now I need to send the DM a lovely letter >:) I got this one on 12/26/2007; so not even 4 months ago. I have two old hard drives that I'm gonna bring in tomorrow, I hope one of them works.

20th Apr 2008, 12:37 AM
omg... I'm so sorry kat. I totally understand the feeling of blue screen of death. I hope you get it fixed! I will add up your scores for the first rounds and get them to you as soon as possible.

Sorry about the comp problems Katt. I'd honestly be pulling my hair out.[/I]
Lets just say I'm glad my hair is as short as it is! I can't grab enough to pull! lol! The good thing is I found my recovery disks and my Vista disks, so I'm hopeing I can fix everything. If not, as I said I have two old drives, one of which works, I'm just not sure which of the two it is.

20th Apr 2008, 4:54 PM
The entries are looking just gorgeous. But wow, I'm so sorry kattenijin! You were doing so well. :(

mzcynnamon - I love the pond, it looks so real!

TLAWBLIQUE360 - Wow! your entry looks so grand, I can just imagine sitting round the campfire drinking hot chocolate. Yum!

kattenijin That sucks, I can understand how frustrating it can be though. I bought my PC from PC World (in the UK) and i've had nothing but trouble with it ever since I got it. every month or so it breaks and the staff at pc world are the most unhelpful and unknowledgeable bunch of people i have ever met. Fingers crossed you get it fixed soon and you can enter contests again :D

20th Apr 2008, 9:34 PM
whoops... sorry guys, work called me in early... I'm going to ej this and the last round for you so we can get scores... give me a bit and I will get the last rounds comments to you.... sorry for the delay. Round Closed.

[QUOTE=I.nfectious]mzcynnamon - I love the pond, it looks so real!

Thanks. I suck at landscaping so you might see a pond in every house. shhhhhhhhhhhh.

I see everyone went for the cabin feel I feel like a odd ball. Great entry EVERYONE!

Yes that was the last round... I'm still adding scores. I have to go to work this morning but I will have the final info up for this and the round before by 3 or so (Central Time). I am so sorry I've been so disorganized guys. I really do apologize for that.

22nd Apr 2008, 8:51 PM
OK guys, heres comments from the last round and the final scores will be at the end... Sorry theres no judge three, that was me. :D

Judge One: You did a very nice job of translating the floorplans into the Sims game; I also like how you emulated the exterior appearance to match the artist's rendering. Your backyard pond is lovely as well.
Judge Two: I love, love, love that you took this into a more contemporary, less cabin-y area! It looks great! Love the backyard but the loft's looking a little big.

Judge One: Your floorplan rendition is very nice and quite accurate to the plans. Your landscaping is lush and I really like your use of the green roof against the light wood exterior.
Judge Two: Very unique take on the landscaping! I also really like the wall of windows in the front!

Judge One: There are a few issues with the floorplan/overall architecture (e.g. the attic spaces should all have floors and the windows should be on the second story and not on a third). Your lovely exterior makes up for the minor issues with the floorplan.
Judge Two: Loving the windows! Yet another cabin-y lodge with a little edge but I'm missing the breakfast bar and the proportions of the second floor seem a little off.

Judge One: Your floor layout is generally true to the plans, however the upstairs bedrooms feel rather cramped in their space. Your exterior is very lovely and I like how you've accented the wood with the palette of greenery in the landscaping.
Judge Two: A little bit *too* generic-woodsy-cabin. Give me something to look at!

Judge One: Your floorplan is very close to the original and it is interesting that you've made the extra two-tiled entry doors into the living room instead of windows. The exterior is nice and rustic feeling.
Judge Two: Also very generic-woody-cabin, but warmer and classic. Less dated.

Congratulations: CiaoAlora, ColdFloral, Inky !

Now I'm truely p-o'ed! lol! I can see I was doing quite well by my scores, and I'm upset I missed the last round. My dang machine is still being fixed, the only good thing is that my parents are in Argentina untill the 29th, so I've "borrowed" ;P my dad's p.o.s. and am using that for now. Of course, as I mentioned before, it won't run the game very well. Not to mention all the cc I had too.
