View Full Version : Stages Of Life - FINAL RESULTS POSTED!

10th Feb 2009, 3:15 PM
Welcome to Stages of Life- a contest that follows your sim as she grows from a wee toddler to an elder!

General Contest Rules
1.) You are allowed to enter 1 sim only. This must be your own creation or simmie born in-game and all MUST BE Human and Female. (Sims may be the offspring of downloaded sims, but they must be at least 2 generations removed from the downloaded sim/s.)
2.) NO PHOTOSHOPPING OR ALTERING OF PHOTOS IN ANY WAY!! This means no adding graphics, text or other decor to photos, no touching up of photos. All submitted photos must be pure in-game shots only.
3.) No spamming please! In the past when this contest was run, it tended to generate a lot of in-thread spamming (though it was very nice conversation). You are more than welcome to ask questions or make comments to your fellow contestants, just please keep this to a minimum.
4.) No deadline extensions! In order to get through all the lifestages in the contest in the alloted time of one month, I am sorry but no extensions can be given to anyone for any reason. If you fail to complete an entry for a round you will be eliminated.
5.) FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! Each round will have very specific instructions for what is expected in the entry. Following directions counts in the judging, so please read them carefully and follow them directly. If you are unsure of something please ask!

Cadence Smith (born in game, with added CC)

Head Shot
(Shes a bit of a poser!)

Full Body Shot

Favourite Activity
Playing with her xylophone. She loves to make music, or as much noise as she can! I can certainley see her being a little musical prodigy when she gets older!
Favourite Person
Enjoying snuggles with mummy Kristen.

Cadence is a happy little girl, she loves going to nursery, spending time with other children as she is an only child. She lives with mummy Kristen in New York. Her father was sadly killed on tour in Afghanistan when she was just a baby, so her and Mummy are very close.

I feel bad that your contest hasn't gotten much activity (nor has mine), however, I will sign up to be a judge, though :)
I would enter an entry, however, I already have my own contest, and am in the midst of completing a contest, so, I don't wanna over load myself!

But, like I said, I'll be a judge, if you want.

26th Feb 2009, 9:26 PM
ill enter :) i have a lot of free time

EDIT: scratch that. lol can i be judge?

Annas close up

Anna, full body

Anna singing with mom, favorite activity

Anna with her favorite person, oldest brother Aleksandros

Anna lives in the small village Kalikardia, and is the daughter of Magda and Elias. She is the youngest in the family of six and get a lot of attention! She loves music, and sings all the time. Growing up with three older brothers is not easy, however, her oldest brother Aleksandros is always protecting her, and loves teaching her new songs.

Hey gang! Thanks for the entries and offers to judge. I updated the main post, but I fear there will not be enough contestants to run a full contest if I stick the planned schedule. I suppose I could extend the application time for a day or so and hope for more entries...

Come on people! This is a fun contest that actually lets you play your contestant while in the contest instead of just keeping her in limbo (or from changing/aging) while you compete!

27th Feb 2009, 3:56 PM
I'll join! :) I've got a good little simmie to use, so I'll take pics tonight and have 'em up by morning. :)

27th Feb 2009, 9:07 PM
Kimberly Mengado, third Generation Sim

Full Body shot

Her fave toy

Her fave person Uncle Simon

Kimberly and her family just moved into town after her Dad lost his last job. The stress that had bothered the family was just too much so her parents decided to move. Luckily Kimberly's uncle Simon decided to move with them. Kimberly loves him and is the happiest person when he reads to her or when they both just snuggle. Kimberly's favorite toy is her Bear and yes her uncle Simon gave him to her.

28th Feb 2009, 6:24 AM
Rachel Rose
(Spawned with Tombstone of L&D and then assaulted with CC :) )

Close-up head shot:

Full body:

Playing with her blocks:

Being read to by Uncle Robin, a Family Sim who adores her. The feeling is apparently mutual. :)

After a long battle with the system, gay couple Tyson and Roger Rose were finally able to adopt a child to call their own, a little girl named Rachel, who already shows signs of remarkable intelligence. She's content to play for hours with her blocks, figuring out how to fit the different shapes in the holes. She can already talk, and she loves to be read to. Already, Tyson and Roger call her their little mad scientist...

(Note: Like chowgilly, I used Photoshop to crop these images and resize and compress them to comply with SC2's file size limits. No other retouching or editing was done. Now, had I actually remembered that I wouldn't be able to edit before I took the pics, I'd've turned shadows off in my game when I took the pics. Ah well. :) )

28th Feb 2009, 9:52 AM
I will judge if you have a spot! :D

28th Feb 2009, 6:03 PM
Hey gang- had some unexpected errands to take care of this morning, but now here to update. I am going to extend the application round for one more day. Deadline now March 1 8:00 AM EST.

After tomorrow morning I will decide what to do next. I am hoping a few more opt to enter. In the meantime, I have the judges slots filled, though we could use an EJ for the just in cases that occasionally pop up! That is about it for now! :)

28th Feb 2009, 8:08 PM
I'd like to introduce Miss Brekkan Stillwater . . .

Isn't she a sweetie? (Face Shot)

Taking those tentative first steps. (Body Shot)

Brekkan loves riding her pet pig, Skeeler. (Favorite Activity)

Brekkan and her father, Drake Stillwater, having a story before bed. (Favorite Person)

Brekkan lives with her father, Drake Stillwater, on a country road outside Pleasantville. She's a viviacious little doll who loves to stay busy learning new skills or playing with her pet pig -- and her dad. It's a toss-up. But, her mother and older sister recently moved out so Brekkan has been needing some extra attention from Daddy.

I have an editing question, too. In the pic of Brekkan and her father, you can see a smudge of the night sky in the mirror, right? I had a far better pic of them sitting together reading, but since they are upstairs under the roof, a ceiling doesn't show up. I've never figured out why not. Some houses it does, some it doesn't in homes that I never put ceiling tiles over the second floors. Are we allowed to cut off the crap like that -- it was the top 10 or so pixels of the better pic, or do you want them totally unedited?

1st Mar 2009, 5:32 AM

Emme asleep on her Dad's bed.

I hope this is ok. There's not a whole lot you can do with a Toddler

Fav. Activity

After the loss of her mother Emme lost interest in her favourite activity but has recently started to show the same amount of enthusiasm in singing her nursery rhymes.

Fav. Person

Emme's favourite person is her Dad who quit his job so that Emme had his undivided attention in the hard times they have faced.

Emme, a very bright, outgoing and energetic young girl, is just beginning to get back to herself after the loss of her mother. Now bonding with her father she is loving the extra time with him. She is beginning to enjoy singing her nursery rhymes which she often did with her mother and loves to look at photo's of her mother as often as possible.

???? Is this too much writing please let me know as it is only my second contest? Thanks

If you can extend it a couple of more hours, I'll send in an application. I need to nip out to the supermarket, and it isn't very far away so it shouldn't be too long,.

Sure, no problem! I'll hold...

Oh, and Ash- good job on the writing. I see no reason to change it. :)

Okay everyone. First thanks to you all so much for your interest in the contest, offers to judge, and all these great entries so far! Since we are getting close to having a full contest, I was thinking about extending the app round into Round 2. More on that shortly!

Judges- look for your judging instructions to be sent to you via PM a little later today. Contestants- look for Round 2 to be posted a little later today as well. :D

Favourite Activity

Favourite Person

A little about Amanda...
Amanda is an incredibly mischievous toddler, and perhaps takes this a little further than most! When she has it in her sneaky head to do something, the tenacious tot will...expecially when it means obtaining something shiny or tasty; particularly chocolate, which she noticed her siblings like. Amanda comes from a big family but she likes to spend her time with her father.

1st Mar 2009, 4:05 PM

Drawing has always been Dora's favorite activity. At her young age she can now remember and draw things around her. I know she'll be a great artist someday!

After her mother passed away not too long ago, Dora never felt away from her father. He's always there to play with her, he even quit from his job just to give her more attention. Dora needs nothing more, she's contented for what she has now and she'll be surely a lovable child to her father as she grows up.

Hi Contestants!

I wanted to give you a run down on the judging for this contest so you will know what to expect!

First, because there are so few contestants, there will be no eliminations from this contest! The winner will be determined by the contestant with the highest total of points from all rounds. Each contestant is identified by their Contestant #, which was determined by your entry into the contest.

Your entries in each round will be given a numerical score. The breakdown of scoring is as follows:

Photos- Your photos are judged on their quality, clarity, and if you have fulfilled the requirement for each photo as listed in the round requirements. This area is worth 1-10 numerical point. (Whole numbers only)

Description- Your written description as required per round is judged on how well it is written and how well what you've written conveys the personality of your contestant. 1-5 numerical points (Whole numbers only)

Overall- This area is about the judges overall impression of your entry as a whole. 1-5 numerical points (Whole numbers only)

The highest score you can receive from any one judge in any round is 20 points. The highest total score you could receive in any single round is 60 points. The highest combined point total for the contest is 300 points.

The judges will submit the scores to me privately via PM, and I will tabulate and keep track of scoring for all rounds. After all scores (for each round) have been received and tabulated, I will post the results of the round. The results you will receive will list you in "Rankings" from the highest to lowest scoring for each round. You will not receive your numerical scores until the contest is complete. At that time I will post all numerical scores from all judges for all rounds of the contest for all contestants. (For an example of this, see "The Architect" results postings in the Closed Contests thread.)

The judges may, but are not required to, make comments with each round of judging. Should comments be made, they will be posted with each round results. (See any round results from "The Architect" in the Closed Contests thread for an example!)

Remember that this contest is about PERSONALITY above all else and you are using your photos and description as an opportunity to showcase your sim, her personality and her life. The more rich, vibrant, you can make your sim's environment and personality the better off you will be!

As a final little note, I would love for this contest to be "star worthy" for the winner because of the effort you are all putting in, therefore I will be leaving the apps open until we either reach 10 contestants, or until Round 2 closes- whichever comes first.

Now, Thank You all for your entries and GOOD LUCK :D to each of you!

(Judges- you should have received your Judging Instructions PM and you may begin judging the Application (Round 1) now!)

This is four year old Clara Temelcoff:

Face shot.

Full body shot, surrounded by family.

With her mother, her favourite person.

Her favourite activity, the sandbox.

Clara lives in a 150 year old home her ancestors built in Canada with her parents, sister Hana, and brother Hazen. She is autistic, and everyone helps with her development. She loves to build in the sandbox, and uses her mother's old theatre masks to express strong opinions and emotions.

2nd Mar 2009, 9:36 PM
Amanda loves being the centre of attention and wouldn't say no to posing for a photograph. She has "girly" moments, but on the otherside isn't into make-up - though she wouldn't say no to a fancy 'do either!

Best Friend
"My absolute bestest friend would be my sister. She's a couple of years older than me, and like pretty much the same things...though she can be stuck up...I get her to lighten up in the summer, but the waterfall in our garden."

Favourite Past time
"...I like shiny things. Lots of shiny things. And often my dad takes me to the art gallery, where there are expensive shiny things. I take home lots of souvenirs when I visit...one day I'm going to buy the real things!"

Favourite Holiday
"This would have to be New Years! My parents hold the best, most fun parties. My little brother likes to party quite a bit, but he's a lousy dancer. I have the better moves in the family...just don't tell them that!"

2nd Mar 2009, 9:49 PM
Hi, MissTech. :) I'm considering entering this, but my schedule is going to be a little hectic this month. Will the work required for each round be about the same as Round 2?

2nd Mar 2009, 11:54 PM
I love your best friend pic, TRIriana. And, we must be thinking alike, I just found and put all my Halloween decor stuff back into my downloads folder.

Miss Tech, do you want any story writing other than the picture captions? It just seems like any storyline we have going, gets pretty sketchy with just under-the-pic tellings.

3rd Mar 2009, 12:03 AM
Hi all! Just wanted to answer a few questions for you.

Ok chowgilly- you may change your entry so long as you do it ASAP.

Daisie- Would love to have you join us, but please post quickly! And yes, the rounds will be similar to Round 2 as far as 'work' goes.

Deatherella- I really dont want the writing to get out of hand as some are much more verbal than others. I wont be asking the judges to count words, so I use 30 words as a rough estimate. If you could stick around that for the descriptions that will be great. I was planning to allow a bit more writing with each round. (App round had the 50 word description for the whole thing, this round has 30 for each photo....)

Okay, hope Ive covered all bases! :)

3rd Mar 2009, 11:09 AM
I already changed my sim for my application. Thanks for waiting MissTech! I hope everything's fine now. :) I'll have my Round 2 posted probably tomorrow.

3rd Mar 2009, 11:19 AM
My app has now been changed, hope its ok. Sorry if i took too long lol.
I shall post my round 2 tonight. Thanks for bearing with me Miss Tech (and i got my email thank you :D)

3rd Mar 2009, 4:55 PM
Do you still need another contestant? If that is so, I would love to join. ^^

3rd Mar 2009, 5:22 PM
Do you still need another contestant? If that is so, I would love to join. ^^

Sure, that would be great. Would love to have another join us! Post your entry quickly though because Im going to close the apps soon! :)

3rd Mar 2009, 5:30 PM
Please don't hold a spot for me, MissTech. I would've liked to enter, but I most likely won't be able to access my home computer (and thus my TS2) until late tomorrow night. (There was a big snow storm in the SE, and we haven't had power since Sunday.)

3rd Mar 2009, 9:39 PM
Close Up
Aint i just the cutest! Thats what Mum says anyway, she says i look a lot like my Daddy.
Best Buds
This is me with my BFF Sydney. We do almost everything together, but our favourite is our ballet class. We're both hoping to get a good part in the Christmas recital, but so long as we're togther, we dont mind what parts we get.

Favourite Activity
Its a mixture of both. Music and dressing up! My favourite is dressing up like a princess, it even matches my bedroom too! And im going for my Grade 3 in violin soon.

Happy Holidays
Ah, i just adore Xmas. This is me and my Mum, she was telling me stories about my Daddy. I always seem to miss him more at this time of year, but i love hearing all about him.

To be finished

4th Mar 2009, 10:00 AM
Hi everyone- just a quick update.

So here we go again with unreliable people who volunteer to judge, but when the time comes, they go MIA. 3 judges were supposed to have submitted scores to me about 24 hours ago, though only one has. Ive sent a PM to the 2 MIAs, as well as to boolPropped to inform her of what was going on.

All I can say is I am sick to death of people who make a promise- a commitment to me, this contest, and all you contestants and then absolutely fail to produce. (There should be a public thread that rates judges so some of us dont have to go through this BS with people who promise then bail.) Here is a copy of the PM sent to them and boolPropped:

Hello Judges,

You were sent a PM on March 1st explaining the judging criteria for this contest and asking that you submit your scores to me via PM by 8:00AM EST today, March 3rd. Thus far, I have received only one set of scores. I am left to wonder if you, those of you who have not submitted scores or contacted me in any way since volunteering, really had/have intensions of fulfilling your commitment. I understand that you all have busy lives and sometimes unexpected problems arise, however, in such circumstances you are REQUIRED to let either myself or boolPropped know if you are unable to fulfill the commitment you made to this contest, myself and your fellow site members.

As you can see, I have also sent this PM to boolPropped so she is aware of these circumstances. I am very unhappy that my contestants and I are being delayed and left hanging in this way. I ask that you either submit these scores to me IMMEDIATELY, or that you contact myself or boolPropped IMMEDIATELY if you no longer wish to fulfill your promised commitment to this contest so that you can be replaced.

Unfortunately, this PM didnt produce any results as I heard back from no one to which it was sent. Very disappointing and frustrating to say the least.

So obviously, the app round judging is on hold until I can find a couple of people who arent flakes, full of crap, or out to sabotage this contest. Sorry about that very much, but my hands are tied at the moment.

If you are still looking for a judge, I would love to be one. I know you don't know me, but I guarantee I'll be reliable.

Note: This photo must have other sims in the photo with your contest sim. This photo must be taken at the contest sim's home (residential lot).

This is for the holiday photo...but can the picture be taken at the sim's family cottage? I know for us all summer holidays are celebrated at the cottage, and if this isn't allowed then I have a small issue. :P I don't have Bon Voyage, so it's not a vacation lot or anything, just a small cottage. :)

That will be fine so long as its at a residential lot as opposed to a community lot.

Ok, you're on. Thank you. Will forward you instructions shortly.

i just sent my scores in, i had laryngitis or whatever and overslept :( im sorry

4th Mar 2009, 7:14 PM
(thanks for the quick reply, MissTech! :) )

Clara doesn't really like to smile for cameras, as she usually just ignores their existence. This is why she sometimes looks rather surprised when someone takes a picture of her. So these are the Real Clara. :)

Clara has just turned nine years old, and still wears her most favourite hat ever. She takes it everywhere, and her whole day's routine is jarred off track if she can't find it.

Clara's favourite summer activity is rollerskating, and though she's only allowed to skate in front of their house, she's often found giggling just across the neighbour's driveway, waiting for her Mom to spot her.

Clara's special education class is full of her favourite toys, and here she sits with her best friend Thomas. They're building a castle for the frog, and Thomas has just asked Clara if she knows where their green prince is.

This is Clara's favourite holiday, Victoria Day at the cottage. It means the first s'mores of the season, and here she watches sister Hana and her Mom Alice have a marshmallow stick fight.

This is a fun contest. :) By the way, this is Victoria Day for those who haven't heard of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_long_weekend.

Hey, I'd love to be a judge in your contest. I'm on this site all the time throughout the day as always at home with my baby girl so would give me something to do.

5th Mar 2009, 1:49 AM

Emme has the same carefree personality her mother had. She is often late for or misses the school bus because she has better things to do like blow bubbles. She often has her father running around mad trying to get things in order.

Emme made many close friends when she began school and often has them over but none as close as Kenny. They share the same interest in music and dance and love to practice together. Could this be the start fo something?

Her passion for singing only grows as she gets older and learns of her mother's own wonderful music talent. She loves nothing more than to be performing and getting the audience involved whether they are imaginary or not.

Emme's Dad always went out of his way to make Christmas special and often invites Kenny's family over. Emme loves being surrounded by friends and family and of course the chance to be the centre of attention.

If ya still need a judge, I can do it if'n you want. This is such a cute contest idea. :)

Anna closeup
Anna loves to be out in the garden. Being the happy and active girl she is, she likes playing ball and other sports with her brothers, and to help out with the gardening. She does not like that much to help out inside, but does it whenever asked. It would be unthinkable to resist anyway.

Anna with best friend
From the moment Anna met Pauline at school, they’ve been "sisters in sin". They both have a strange sense of humor, and love telling jokes to each other, that only they themselves understand. They giggle and laugh all the time when they are together, making Anna’s brothers roll their eyes about their girlish silliness.

Anna's favorite holiday
15th of august is the celebration of St. Mary, and the whole family have spent days preparing for it. Early morning they went to the local church, and now everybody eats, drink and dance, as says the tradition. Anna loves so much to listen to her brothers stories in moments like this, when everybody is relaxed and happy!

Anna's favorite activity
Anna loves traditional dancing, and she is so good at it! The Greek Syrtaki-dance is really complicated, but Anna is learning from brothers Aleksandros and Andreas, and her mother of course. Brother Aris prefer doing something else (Anna says he is a terrible dancer, anyway), and dad is standing in the background, giving them all the top score, and being especially proud of his little girl!

As in the first post I have used PaintShop to extract and resize the pictures, but absolutely no manipulation! I so admire what my fellow contestants are able to do with the game, and love their excellent contributions! Thank you Miss Tech for organizing this contest, it's so fun!

5th Mar 2009, 3:17 PM
If ya still need a judge, I can do it if'n you want. This is such a cute contest idea. :)

Absolutely! Thank you! Sent you the instructions via PM!
And thank you very much for the compliment! :D

To Everyone-

Your daily update! Ok, thankfully we've now got the judging problem well under control! Whew! I am sorry to say though that with the apps in full judging now, I cannot allow any more contestants in at this point. That leaves us with only 9, so unfortunately, the winner will not be eligible for a star. :(

I am very pleased with the contestants we do have, and have been delighted and impressed by all of your entries thus far! :) I just feel the need to remind everyone that their ROUND 2 (child) entries are due tomorrow, Friday March 6th by 8:00AM EST! I beg of you guys to get your entries in on time as we have suffered a delay already and cant afford any more!

As soon as I have all scores back from the app Round 1 judging, I will be posting your Rankings and any judges comment. As well, look for Round 3 to be posted shortly after Round 2 closes tomorrow!

That's about it for now! :)

Dora's father always tells her that she looks exactly like her mother. Her eyes, nose, even her pointy ears, you couldn't even tell anymore which one is which.

Dora's BFF

Ever since they've been bestfriends, Dora never let Cindy go out of the house. They mostly spend their time playing inside Dora's room and doing nothing but silly stuffs.

Favorite Activity

Outdoor activities have been always Dora's favorite past time. Playing with the leaves, climbing up a tree, name it, Dora knows every goings-on outside their house.

Favorite Holiday

There's nothing more fun than New Year Evenings for Dora. Her father makes the best foods for their celebration which Dora absolutely loves. It's the only thing that Dora looks forward to throughout the years.

5th Mar 2009, 4:46 PM
I'll have my Round 2 in tonight! I have all the pics, but I just got distracted by arguing with people in the Debate Room, and ran out of time to put the entry together. :) I promise I'll stay out of the debate room tonight. ;)

Rachel Rose

Um, hi. I'm Rachel. I'm 9, but I'm already in 7th grade. It's cool because I get to learn more things than most kids my age, and I really like to learn, but it's not cool because everyone in my school is at least two years older than me, so I get picked on a lot.

That's me and my best friend, Tandie. Well, OK, so Tandie's my only friend. It doesn't matter because she's all I need. She's 11, two years older than me but a grade behind me at school. We get along so well, probably because we're both geeks. We have a running chess competition going on. Right now, she's ahead. But that will change! :D

I love astronomy. I spend hours, after my homework's done, looking through the telescope that I got for my birthday. I even found a new star and got money for it! Now I'm saving up to buy a bigger telescope.

This is me and my dads, just hanging out on the front lawn sharing my candy from the Easter egg hunt at the park across the street and chatting. I love Easter because I get to wear a pretty dress. I'm still a little girl that way, I guess. Plus, chocolate. What's not to like?

6th Mar 2009, 10:46 AM

As Brekkan grows you can really see her promise of beauty. One morning she woke up before her father and is mischeviously thinking of "touching" his piano.

It didn't take long for Brekkan and Audrey to become best of friends. Here you see them hanging out -- literally.

Brekkan still thinks pet pigs are the cat's meow. She's trying to get a little pig racing started but Audrey is a tad leery.

Waiting for that delicious BBQ treat to get done . . . Brekkan is so-o-o-o-o-o hungry. She always works up a good appetite with all the fun activity at the annual BBQ her fathter throws on her favoritest of all holidays -- Will Wright Day.

(In order: 1. Head Shot, 2. Best Friend, 3. Favorite Activity, 4. Favorite Holiday.)

oh yes, yes he would be grilling up some baby
oh the joyous downloads to be found on mts2

6th Mar 2009, 7:36 PM
I love the baby roaster. :) Use it all the time. :) We must have equally sick senses of humor. And I must say that Will Wright Day is an awesome idea. Well done, Deatherella.

I was going to do Hallween but didn't want to seem like a copycat when someone else posted her entry with it. So, I thought to myself, what would they celebrate in Simland, hmmmmmm . . ..

7th Mar 2009, 11:20 AM
Hey everyone.

Update- Well I had wanted to give our missing contestant a chance to post for Round 2, but unfortunately aba23 will not be able to continue on with us! So okay, Round 2 officially closed now.

I have back the scores from Round 1, and will be tabulating and posting rankings at some point today. I also need to post up Round 3 so you all can get started on that, and that will probably be posted prior to the Rankings. I have a bunch of errands to run outside of the house today- unusual for me- but I will get er done! LOL!

The Bedroom
"The bedroom should be a haven of calm and serenity, of comfort and...in my opinion...extravagence! It's still a work in progress, and the constant intrusion of siblings can be a chore but one of these days I'll have my own apartment. Mine!"

Career Day
"Every year it comes around, and this year it was my turn to be told how superb Science, Sports and Seminars are! What little they know - I already have a career, darling...and it really is so much fun. I keep my own hours, get plenty of exercise...and it's so rewarding..."

The "Other" Life
"The things I get up to after the tedium of school... I always did love the museum and art galleries, and of course the precious shiny items held within them. My partner in crime is Zachary, and he likes the expensive things almost as much as I do. Mmm... Grand larceny."

Having Fun
"Naturally after such a hard day - and night - in the museum, we need time to unwind. As such "typical teenagers" today, we like messing around at the outdoor ice rink."

9th Mar 2009, 10:57 AM

Judges Comments

Contestant #1
~The pictures are nice quality, but I would have liked to of seen a pretty background on some of them, but, overall Cadence is a cute little girl!
~Very cute little girl and I'm kind of partial to the simple background style you've used. The text feels just a tiny bit flat, though - a bit more like simple captions than actually getting in her head. I look forward to seeing how this bright-eyed beauty will develop as she grows.

Contestant #2
~I liked the pictures and how they capture your Anna's life, maybe next time you can make them a little larger though. But, other than that, nice.
~I really like the kind of old-fashioned style to the decor and her dress. She's a cutie. I do wish we'd been able to see her mama in the pic of them singing together - cropped a bit too close, IMO. The description was simple but interesting - I like the idea of her living the simple life.

Contestant #3
~I liked how Kimberly is always captured with a cute look on her face.
~Wow, what sharp features she has - almost a bit too sharp on a toddler, but I bet she'll grow into them beautifully. Your pics are looking a little bit blurry, though - are you sure you have your texture detail turned up all the way? The description is interesting, but a little confusing - her dad lost his job and the family was stressed so they decided to move - which is expensive? Just a bit odd.

Contestant #4
~Rachel is adorable and your pictures are so crisp and real. The bio is also very interesting, nice job.
~What a strikingly beautiful little girl - the blue eyes and the dark skin look great on her. The description is great too - love the little bit of foreshadowing.

Contestant #5
~Brekken is a cutie and I think that the pic with the pig is so cute. By-the-way, had you not of mentioned the sky in the mirror, I wouldn't have noticed!
~That face shot is super cute - she looks way mischevious. And a pet pig - I wish I had a pet pig when I was a little kid! The description seems a bit on the simple side, but hints of sadness with her mother and sister leaving. Very nice.

Contestant #6
~Emme looks like a little diva, cute! I like your pictures, and the only thing I'd suggest is using the downloadable ceiling tiling for taking pictures.
~What a lovely, precious little face - those big blue eyes are adorable. She looks a little bit over-made-up for my personal tastes though, especially with that rather grown-up hairstyle. I love the pink bedroom, and your description is very nice.

Contestant #7
~ Your pictures are nice, and I especially love her favorite activity shot, so cute!
~Gosh, she's a pretty little girl - almost sleepy sort of eyes but she looks like she's gonna be a stunner when she gets older. That pic of her sneaking up on the chocolates is priceless!

Contestant #8
~ Dora looks like a quite lovely girl. I especially like the angle of the last shot. Nice job.
~She's just too cute! Really unique, interesting face - I can't wait to see what she looks like as she gets older. Her expressions in your pics are great, and I love that last one of her with her daddy. Fits very nicely with your description - gosh everyone is killing off the parents!

Contestant #9
~Just a recommendation for better pics, if you were to download the visable ceiling tiles and use. But, other than that, they were nice.
~I love the expressions you've captured in your pictures... and the description is wonderful - I think that you've made her autistic is really interesting and unique. Should make for a challenge in the further rounds.

(only 2 of the judges used this round submitted comments!)

Look for Round 2 Rankings to be posted either today or tomorrow as that round is officially in judging now. Congrats to you all on a Round well done! :D

9th Mar 2009, 11:08 AM
Yay! Thanks a lot judges! This is my first contest so yea... I feel so excited! Thanks again!

The Boudoir
This is me and Sydney hanging in my room. She sleeps over all the time, my Mum jokes she should have her own room soon! I love the mixture of blues/pinks. Its girly like me, but not too ott.

Prom Tonight!!
This is what iv been waiting for. It makes the pain of High School worth it. This is me and my beau Jake. Dont we make a cute couple? He surpised me by turning up in this gorgeous classic car, so we certainley arrived in style.

All work and....
This is me at work. I have a job in a little salon. Iv worked my way up from sweeping and cleaning, now im allowed to wash hairs. Iv even done a couple of put ups and helped with make up too! One day id love to have my own salon, or be a hairdresser.

Well, a little play
I love weekends, its great to unwind from work and school. Most weekends, i work Saturday then go out with Jake on the Sunday. We like going to the movies, or for a bite to eat. But our favourite is bowling. He's great at it but i kinda suck hehe! But sometimes he'll let me win, what a sweetie.

11th Mar 2009, 2:49 PM
Thankfully the due date is EST (I'm in Finland). Due to a corrupted Sims 2 collection file, not only did my game get corrupted, but so did my OS, and so did my ENTIRE harddrive. I've spent 12 hours trying to recover things from a dying computer that weren't on my backup drive, and went I went to reinstall Leopard, the harddisk wasn't recognised. Needless to say, I was beyond frustrated. But anyway, long ramble short, I'm going to try to get the game installed so I can complete the round for tomorrow, but unfortunately can't promise. And also, Clara might not look exactly the same. I didn't have a back up of any sims families.

I'll try to get it in on time, if not, just consider me bowing out for one round. :)

11th Mar 2009, 3:05 PM
I've been frustrated by MTS2's down-ness because I need an item or two off there for one of the pics I planned for Round 3, and it doesn't look like it'll be back up in time. :( But I've figured out a work-around, so I'll have my Round 3 in tonight.

11th Mar 2009, 4:21 PM
I really want to continue with this round but we're going to have our retreat tomorrow (it's 11 pm in here and i should be in bed now!) that'll be until Saturday so I guess I can't continue anymore. I really want to finish this contest! But yea... school stuffs... Sorry Miss Tech! But if the round will hold on until Fri/Sat I can do my round 3!

12th Mar 2009, 7:04 AM
http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu261/icads_sims/bedroom.jpgMy bedroom is really very small, but it's quite cozy and very comfortable. Since my room doesn't have a whole lot of open floor space, I don't have a whole lot of stuff in it. But I've been using the money I make from my after-school job to decorate a little bit here and there. In all honesty, though, I'm kind of partial to the minimalist look.

Science fair time! I love putting together my project for the science fair each year. This is my last year of school, so I decided to go all-out and build a real, working Tesla Coil! It was a lot of fun! Well, except for that one county-wide blackout I caused while working on it. Ooops.

I kind of have a really busy life. There's school. And trying not to blow up the neighborhood. And a job. And family obligations. But, I do have off on Sundays. So I usually go to the park for a few hours, usually by myself, and just walk and unwind. Or fish and unwind. I like to fish. Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

I still don't have a lot of friends, certainly not a boyfriend. I realize I'm too weird for most people's tastes, and I'm OK with that. But Tandie and I still hang out whenever we get a chance. She's as busy as I am, but right now we're working on a school project together. After a round of working on it, we decided to go hang out at Red's for a bit. We like to make fools of ourselves doing silly dances to the oldies on the jukebox there. We're both totally inept at dancing, but it's still fun.

12th Mar 2009, 7:44 AM
Okay, I'm getting a lot of my stuff back and should be able to post on time, but if anyone has the zoom in closer camera mod (any of them), could they please PM it to me? The only ones I can find are on MTS2, and I need to to take pics. :S Please! :)

12th Mar 2009, 12:09 PM
"I know, I know. What a mess right? My dad is always on my case about it. But little things like a few bits and pieces laying around don't bother me, it's the larger things in life that matter. My room doesn't exactly match it's a bit of everything but it comes together great. Kind of like me. I love to write my music in here."

School Event
"This is one event in school I hope my friends and I continue. School camp. We have so much fun here and enjoy the activities like hiking, digging for treasure, fishing and who can forget the marshmallows!! Once we're out of school next year we'll definitley be planning a similar trip for just our group of friends and hopefully for many years after that!"

Hanging out with friends
"Dad and I decided to start a business. A music store of course! He said he wanted to make sure that he hd something to leave me ncase anything ever happened to him. I run the store a few times a week and on weekends and I am a GREAT salesperson. In this picture I am selling a piano with no problems. Dad says I am so great at it because I am so passionate about music."

Free Time
"My friends and I usually spend our freetime in the music and dance room dad built for me a loooong time ago. We fitted it with some instruments and we kind of have a little band going. This is where all of my songs come to life. I just LOVE it. That's Kenny behind me. We're "Going Steady" these days :D"

I am REALLY sorry for the bad quality of the pictures my computer decided to be a poop so I had to redo everything. It's 7.20 am now... I think I will go to bed.

12th Mar 2009, 1:31 PM
Here's an update for you all! As of now, Round 3 is supposed to close in about an hour and a half, however, there are still 4 contestants who have yet to post their Round 3 entries. This leaves me with a dilema because this contest is supposed to have no extensions, yet I find myself being forced into them one after another.

Currently as I said there are 4 contestants yet to post and its my hope they do so ASAP, or contact me and let me know if they cannot continue so I dont delay everyone else on their behalf.

I am still waiting for one set of scores to come back so I can finally post the Round 2 results. (Ive had 2 sets back for days and just waiting on the last.)

Round 4 is supposed to also be posted today, and perhaps in a few hours when I check in on the thread again, I will go ahead and post that for those of you who have completed Round 3.

I will extend the Round 3 deadline, but only for a few hours. I am sorry to say that once I close the Round, those who failed to post in time will be scored a 0 for this round. I am sorry to do this, but I feel my hand is being forced here in order to try to keep this thing on some sort of normal schedule.

12th Mar 2009, 2:41 PM
I'm coming, I'm just shrinking pics :D Miraculously I found an old backup of my downloads.

Annnd here they are. :)

This is Clara's bedroom, quite stylish for a music and book-loving young lady. Her favourite panda bear is on her bookcase, won on a trip to the pier carnival. Clara tends to stack her books in many places, and instead of ordering them by author, she prefers to group them by publishing year.

Thomas, who now goes to the highschool next door to Clara's, still drops by to spend time with her. He is one of the few people that she doesn't mind practising her speech therapy with. That is, when she's not beating him at computer games...

The local Association for Community Living found Clara a job working at the University of Long Bay's library, and she adores the job. While she prefers to walk around with her cart and return stray books to the stacks, she also doesn't mind blocking (bringing the books flush to the shelf so they're neat and even rows).

Clara was roped into helping with the school's bake sale, and Thomas came along to make sure she stayed on task. He handled the customer chatting, while she took care of the cash and cookie counting. They made a great team, and made quite a bit of money for the school!

Sorry for the few minutes of lateness, and thanks for waiting :)

Anna Maniatis - teenager

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna24b.jpg
Anna's bedroom
Anna is not from a rich family, so to have a private bedroom is a real privilege. Even though it’s small, Anna loves this calm place where she can retreat, relax, pray and study. At the moment she is preparing for the field trip to the archeological site of Agios Nektarios, where her class will go tomorrow.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna27b.jpg
The school fieldtrip
Anna is very proud of the ancient history of her country. This year’s fieldtrip therefore was something she was really looking forward to, and the young students loved to hear Ms Petrovouno tell about the Greek history. They gathered around her in the park of the Museum, and found it very enlightening, understanding their own roots. Anna’s mother was joining the fieldtrip to help Ms Petrovouno keeping an eye on the whole lot.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna22b.jpg
Free time
Well home from the fieldtrip, Anna decided to paint the ancient sites that she had seen with her class mates. Painting is maybe not her favorite hobby, and she is not particularly good at it either, but she enjoys it anyway. Who says we have to be perfect in everything we are doing? The painting was fine, anyway, and Anna’s father said he wanted to hang it on the wall of his office.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna30b.jpg
A future romance?
The last few months Anna has spent a lot of time with their neighbor’s son Nikos. He is just a few months older than Anna, and from the start he was actually Anna’s brother Andreas’ best friend. Well, he still is, but it might seem like he prefers Anna’s company at times. Especially when they go to the beach, Nikos gives Anna his full attention. No wonder, because she is a beautiful young lady. Don’t you agree?

I'm truly sorry for the late posting

12th Mar 2009, 7:21 PM
I'm so truly sorry that I am this late. I was finishing up for my last pic last night when my stupid auto-update kicked in. Why I didn't take the pic of Brekkan in her room before I sent her out and about town for other shots, I don't know. But I didn't. I set up another lot with her peeps and hooked her and her father into that one. So when I moved them back into their own house, it was empty -- which I didn't think would happen when I used the tombstone on the other lot to hook them in for pics. So, I get her room back to the way it was and my pc says it wants to restart so after bouncing my game back off the taskbar three times, I had it saved so I could go back and get the pic after the restart. Blah, blah, blah, when all that fun is over, I turn my game back on, it takes awhile to load from the cc, and I tell myself I'll just sit over here and catch a short nap while I wait. Ha. My nap lasted over 12 hours. Guess being sick caught up with me last night. So, here I am with all four pics at long last.
And, again, I truly am sorry this is late. I meant to have it in last night before midnight my time. (CST)

Pleasant Hill Charter School Talent Show

Every fall, Brekkan's small school invites parents for an evening of musical appreciation. Brekkan and her best friend, Audrey, performed a duet of some song from Cats that we're all sick of. Of course, the audience spent the whole night catching up on gossip with one another since the cats wailing and dogs howling outdoors had far more talent than the students.

Widening Horizons?

That boy-crazy Audrey convinced Brekkan that getting am afterschool job at the local mechanic's shop would be a great way to meet boys. Audrey lasted about two minutes in the grease, but Brekkan found that she really liked tinkering under the hood. Maybe Audrey should have stuck around . . .

Hangin' With a "Hunk"

One afternoon a teenage boy came into the shop looking for an old tire for a spare. Brekkan got to chatting with him and discovered all they had in common. He invited her over one day and Brekkan found herself in "pig heaven" and knew this was the man for her!

Daddy's Little Girl

Brekkan wants you all to know that her father is to blame for this pink paradise. He did it. She doesn't invite too many of her pals into this feminine frill since Audrey usually looks at her, looks at the room, back and forth a few times and then falls into a fit of giggles.

7.) Contestant #9
8.) Contesant #5

Round 2 Comments

Contestant 1
~She's growing into a lovely girl - that first shot of her in the blue and green dress really brings out her eyes, and I love the ballet/violin pics - what a girly girl. Your description seems kind of unfinished though, and would benefit from a bit of proofreading.

Contestant 2
~Again, loving the sort of "old fashioned" theme for her and the setting. Your staging is really cute and I love the shot of her at the table and with her family. If you can turn off plumbbobs/speech bubbles though (or crop them out of your pics) it would improve the overall look though.

Contestant 4
~Gosh, she's striking isn't she? Your description is really cute - I love that she's a smartypants. And the shot of her with the telescope is lovely - I'm normally not fond of pics that show thought bubbles and the like but that totally works for that shot.

Contestant 5
~She's growing up quite lovely... but I'm feeling like you didn't put a ton of effort into this one besides the holiday shot. There's several grammar and spelling errors in your description, and the room in the face shot seems very bare. I think a little more attention to detail would help the overall impression.

Contestant 6
~I really like the characterization of her in the description, and that shot of her singing is fantastic - the lighting and posing is really cute. Still not incredibly fond of the over-made-up style and hair on such a little girl, but she is marvelously pretty.

Contestant 7
~That first shot is lovely - what a calm and pretty face. The description is also excellent - there's a little touch of impish humour in the wording which really works well with the characterization from round 1. Nicely done.

Contestant 8
~The angles and staging for your pics are beautiful - I especially love the ones with the leaves and her dad. Your descriptions are also really good, and Dora is super cute.

Contestant 9
~Your characterization of her - both in the pics and the text - is really well done. That shot of her shrugging in the classroom is adorable. She's very unique and not the normal contest sim.

*Please note that only one Judge sent comments in for this round.

Okay, congratulations to everyone on a job well done for Round 2. Round 3 is officially in judging now, so good luck to everyone on that! :)

Thanks for the results Miss Tech, quick question though. When you say a picture of her home/apartment do you want an exterior shot, or a particular room etc?

Sorry, that is too general. Changing it to be her favorite room in her home or apt!

I've just came home from a retreat today. What a pity I didn't have the time to do my round 3! :( I really want to continue though. But thanks for the results judges!

Amanda's Favourite Room
"There's nothing better after a hard day and nights work, than a long and luxurious bubble bath. Warm water, a sensual aroma, dim lights and occasionally a book on the latest travelling exhibits... It's relaxing and decadent. This room? My favourite, darling!"

Life Changing Event
"A high speed chase after a heist gone wrong is never a nice way to spend an evening. The car decided to do its own "thing" off the edge of a disused road, into the river and... Well... Let's just saying Death gave me a helping hand in staying alive a little longer."

Amanda's Legal Career
"I work in a snazzy office in an art gallery and unsurprisingly, this helps me out a lot with my other job. The connections I have for my other activites, I mostly met through my day job. I must admit... I don't do it for the money, because the day job pays well... It's the thrill!"

About Jacob
"I met Jacob via the gallery, for non-illegal reasons. He was a struggling artist and... I wanted to do something good, so I helped him out. He's the sweetest, politest, most bashful man that I've ever met. He makes me feel magical. And he's all for me!"

15th Mar 2009, 1:15 PM
Quick update for you all. Ive gotten back 2 of 3 sets of scores for Round 3, just waiting on the final set. Have already asked an EJ to score just in case. Remember your Round 4 entries are due on 3/17/09! :)

You can go ahead and skip doing Round 3 (teen) since you missed it and it'll be scored 0 anyway. Again sorry about that. You can just continue on with the current Round and only need to post for that.

Judges Comments

Contestant 1
~The lighting in your pics is really nice, and the set dressing looks really good too. The descriptions seem to fall a little flat, though - running them through a spellchecker before posting would help too.

Contestant 2
~She's really grown into her face beautifully - the little hook to her nose that looked a bit awkward as a child gives her a lot of lovely character as a teen. Your description is really interesting and excellent too.

Contestant 4
~I love the way her room is done, and the way her personality comes across in the description. Her intelligence and confidence works well for her, and follows through nicely on her characterization in previous rounds.

Contestant 5
~The pic with the pigs is really cute, and I like the overhead shot in the garage. I find it a little... odd/unfortunate/something that her and her friend are described that way with the talent show... makes me feel bad for her.

Contestant 6
~I love the way you have the sets decorated, and the last shot of her singing.

Contestant 7
~The first couple shots and description sort of pale in comparison to the last two. She's a thief?! Cool! And the pic of the ice rink looks really neat with the lights!

Contestant 9
~ I really love your description of Clara and the uniqueness of her character. The angles on your pics and the way they work so well with the description is also really nice.

*Please note that only one judge submitted comments for this round.

Great job everyone! Dont forget your Round 4 entries are due by tomorrow! :D

Woohoo! Thanks a lot judges! Needless to say, it is appreciated! :) And with such excellent post from everybody!
At the moment I'm working very hard to grow up the needed sims for my next post. Puh! It takes a lot of time, but I should be ready to post within time limits, which is in ... Oh! In only 25 hours! *rushing off*

My Sanctuary
This is my favorite place in the house, the bedroom (And no its not for that reason Jake!) I love the calming greens and my big comfy bed, its great for relaxing and reading a good book. I got the inspiration for the decor after we got back from Cuba, its very similar to how our room was decorated.

Work work work
Well, my hopes of having my own salon are on hold for now, i cant afford to rent or buy a space yet. I'm now working as a music teacher, which i love. The children are great and so are my colleagues, its great being able to do something you love and actually enjoy going to work.

I do...
Recognize the face? Well his hair anyway hehe! Yes its my high school sweetheart Jake. As i grew older, i realized he was the one i wanted to spend my life with. This is us getting married in Cuba a couple of years ago,and yes I was heavily pregnant too! We were on vacation there and he proposed the first night, so we decided to do it a few days later on the beach, it saves all the arguments from family.

Family Time
This is my lovely little family, my darling husband Jake and my little girl Freya. I'm trying to teach her a nursery rhyme here, i say the earlier you get them interested in music the better.

16th Mar 2009, 1:39 PM
I usually dont comment in thread about entries, but I do have to say that with each and every round, I have loved watching everyone's entries come up and to see what you each create with the general ideas given for each round. It has been fun to watch each contestant growing up along the way. There have been some lovely, unique sims, some great stories, and some really outstanding shots taken throughout the contest. So a big round of applause for each of you, because even though we've hit a few snags in the schedule along the way, this contest has been a joy to run and quite fun to watch. :) Thanks everyone!

16th Mar 2009, 4:10 PM
Aww, thank you Miss Tech, what a lovely thing to say. And a big thank you to you for hosting yet another great contest, making sure things got done and not leaving us hanging for results.

The wedding
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna53bryllupok.jpg
Since the school field trip, Anna had a crush on Nikos. Unfortunately, her father, now a widower, never approved of this relationship, he never thought Nikos was good enough for her. At one point Anna feared that she had to elope to get her Nikos, but in the end her father reluctantly gave in. Anna was torn up by the fact that he didn’t want to come to the wedding, but was happy to get her Nikos, and at least her three brothers were there to share her happiness.

The empty room
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna55barneromok.jpg
Anna’s deepest wish is to have a baby, or rather, many babies, and she prays every day that her dream will come through. So far, unfortunately, her prayers haven’t been heard. Two years has passed since the wedding, but she is still not pregnant. Nikos has made a beautiful crib, a rocking horse and a changing table, and he and Anna have decorated the baby’s room so beautifully. However, it is still empty. But hopefully, one day….

Keeping busy
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/KalikardiaManiatisAnna56syok.jpg
Nikos is a hard working man and provide very nicely for Anna. But Anna decided that she needed something to fill her days, and took a course in tailoring, and much to her own surprise, she was tremendously good at it! She is now sowing curtains and dresses for the fortunate women of the town, and it has been mentioned, that Anna should open her own boutique. It would definitely be a success!

In spite of the problems that her marriage created within her family, Anna is very happy with her choice. “There is not a thing Nikos wouldn’t do for me”, Anna confides her best friend Pauline, “and I love him more than my own self. We live such a simple life, but every moment we have together is a gift from God. He truly is the love of my life.”

Omigosh, as I was browsing to the bottom of the page so I could post my round 4, I saw that KyriaT used the same nursery furniture I did. But I didn't use any pics for my entry from it. I just thought it was one of those cases of great minds thinking alike.

Shortly after graduating, Brekkan married her true love, Chandler Platz. Her father was a little disappointed, at first, that she didn't want to go to college and have a career, but one day as he bumped his head on a low door frame, he had an epiphany: all he ever wanted was for Brekkan to be happy, and if she's happy, then so be it.

Brekkan and Chandler are standing before their farm. Brekkan wants you to check it all out. She can't make up her mind which room is her favorite since she LOVES her whole home, her husband, her life.
If you would like to see better shots of the farm from all directions, and some of the rooms as I finished them, click this link: Brekkan's Paradise on Earth (http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Stages%20of%20Life%20Contest/Platz%20Pig%20Heaven/) That farmhouse looks remarkably like my Mom and Dad's. Imagine that.

Brekkan doesn't have a job outside of the farm. She's perfectly content to help out Chandler with all the chores about the homestead. Brekkan, as you've noticed as she's grown up, has always been a happy person who didn't feel a need to go earn tons of cash, be a famous songwriter like her dad, or even go to college. She is happy within her own skin. This pic shows how early every morning you'll find Brekkan out in the barn milking the cattle.

Drake (Stillwater) invited Brekkan and Chandler over for a very merry first Christmas as man and wife. Brekkan truly enjoyed the day with her father. After passing gifts and sharing an evening of remembering holidays past, Brekkan had a "gift" for Chandler. She was expecting their first baby.

The following summer, Brekkan gave birth to little Thom. She's so excited about being a mommy. The nursery is all set up downstairs, but here she's relaxing after nursing tiny Thom. Her friends and family surround her often to give her and the baby their love and support.
Audrey, Brekkans' best friend, is standing by the bed. Her sister, Avalon, is sitting at the end of the bed at her feet. Thom is laying beside her and Daddy is sitting on the other side of the foot of the bed.

17th Mar 2009, 10:36 AM
Favourite room:

Clara's favourite room in her apartment is the kitchen, because she loves to create simple meals and loves how warm the fireplace makes the whole room. Her "apartment" is an addition on the back of her sister's farmhouse, where she has her own independent living space and family/support just behind the door.

Clara's job is with the National Park Service as a cartography assistant, and normally she spends most of her time categorizing topographic maps for their local office. However, her boss Patrick offered to take her up in his small plane to view the area they normally survey, and she was so excited that she clapped and cheered the entire car ride up to the plane.

Hanging out:

Back at Clara's house, her silence is sometimes interrupted by her loud young niece Iida, who comes to visit on a regular basis. Clara takes great joy in tickling little Iida, and doesn't mind the noise. Clara has also taken to wearing her favourite scarf everywhere, and it's the one thing Iida is not allowed to play with.

Life event:

A jarring event happened in the Temelcoff family six months earlier, when Clara's brother Hazen was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was 32, and it was very hard for Clara to accept. Her father takes her to the cemetery regularly, and she now understands that her brother won't be coming back from there.

HI I was tired of photobucket ruining my pictures so if you click on them you will get the bigger and better versions!

Fave Room
THis is by FAR my favourite room. When I moved out of Dad's I had nowhere for my music until Kenny and I moved here. This is strictly MY space no one else comes in here unless invited and I love it. Every mother's dream really! I learnt that quick!
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/Faveroomsmall.jpg (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/Faveroom.jpg)
I was ready to pursue my singing further however, real life hit and I realised that being a struggling singer wasn't going to pay the bills. I took a job as a real estate agent and do quite well. Of course I still spend a lot of time on my music. The husband wasn't too sure about this house the wife loved it though. Can you guess who won that argument ladies *wink wink*

Major Life Event
After being best friends for over 10 years I decided to marry my soul mate Kenny. We had a low key ceremony at a beautiful garden and this is my favourite wedding photo. We've been married 2 and a half years now and are happier than ever.
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/weddingsmall.jpg (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/Wedding.jpg)
I'd always dreamed of the day I had a family of my own and here we are. These are our suprise bundles Lochlann (blonde hair) and Callum (brown hair) Of course they aren't only bundles anymore but as I am sure you can tell they are a handful and full of fun and surprises.
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/FamilySMall.jpg (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/Family.jpg)

Can I add I have NO idea how the two of them got a BLONDE haired child!

Head Shot
Well, here i am. I look so old! Can you believe im 65? I have to admit this is not my natural hair colour, and iv had a couple of nips and tucks here and there. Still, not bad for an old bird according to Jake, the cheeky thing!

Whiling away the hours...
Well as you may have guessed from my previous shot, we now reside near the ocean. When we retired we had a nest egg and decided to move to Twikki Island, the suns good for our aching bones. Theres nothing i like better than having our grandchildren, Jordan and Jay here. They came for their entire summer holidays this year, they even have their own room here too. I love it.

Post Retirement
Well, sadly my dream of having my own salon never happened, but i cant complain looking at how we live now. It would have been awful to have to leave or sell it to move. However i still do a little hair styling and beauty treatments. Since so may people get married here, it made sense. I even took classes in massage. It helps pay the bills as Jake cant work since his stroke.

Other than work, we mainly just spend our days at home relaxing. I love sitting on the balcony watching the waves with a glass of home made orange juice. Its the simple things and the people around you in life that make it what it is. For me - I wouldn't change a thing.

All done, if theres any problems let me know. One again Miss Tech, thank you for hosting and to all our judges. Y'all make contests worth doing.

"I posed a lot for my dear Jacob when I was younger in years... Heck, I still did in my seventies too. That's when this picture was taken. I was seventy-four, and at home. Jacob had just finished setting up a new digital camera, and thought it would be sweet to take a photograph of me in front of a far younger sketch of myself. I think I wore my advanced years quite well!"

Favourite Past Time
"We went into retirement on a little unoccupied island, where no one could interrupt us. On the warm summer nights it's divine to just while away the hours below the decking, with Jacob's gentle and creative hands doing wonderful things to tired muscles. It's one of the most relaxing times I've ever had - and the scent of the oils and flowers...Mmm! One doesn't have to be young to enjoy these pursuits."

After Retirement
"A few years after we started dating, I left my wonderful job in the gallery for something a little more intimate - just on the tip of the mainland is a private gallery, owned by Jacob and myself. We still manage it now and it's full of his work; work that is continually updated to this day. The adorable boy on the left? That's our Jeremy, and he definitely knows how to pose!"

Not long after Jacob took that old photograph of me, in front of my younger self I started thinking... Grim was looming closer and I still needed to find a way to...get around our deal, made on that day I was close to death. So I searched for the Fountain of Youth. Tales told of a life juice that could take away the years... I found it, and it worked! These days Jacob has to pretend to be Jacob Jr., instead - but we're still as successful as ever.

Anna Maniatis - Her twilight years

Still beautiful
The first barren years of marriage were hard for Anna, but in the fifth year of marriage, life took an unexpected turn. Anna and Nikos had almost given up getting children, when, like a miracle, Anna became pregnant. The firstborn, Vasilis, was just a toddler when Anna became pregnant again, and then again, - and again! Six children were born in ten years! They kept their mother very busy, and very happy. Nevertheless, the sequent pregnancies were a strain to Anna’s body, and she got her first wrinkles quite early in life. Not that this matters to Anna, “As long as I keep my health” as she says. Her husband Nikos adores her wrinkles, “Every small line on your face is a witness of a good memory and the happy years we’ve had together” he compliments her.

Always creative
Providing for such a large family, doesn’t leave much leisure time for Anna. However, whenever the babies are having a little nap, most likely, you will find her by the sewing machine, as in earlier years. It’s a lot of work repairing clothes for six children, but Anna also finds time to create new outfits for them, and love to see her daughters in brand new, fashionable dresses. Now that her two daughters, Katina and Marina, show growing responsibility for their younger siblings, Anna has more time at hands to create. Katina and Marina on the other hand, absolutely love the clothes Anna makes, and their friends comment on them all the time, so this is really a win-win situation!

Anna’s biggest sorrow in life has been her father’s disapproval of her choice of marriage. Throughout the years her father refused to visit their home on a regular basis, and only showed up at the big family events, like funerals and baptisms, and even then, reluctantly. The situation almost broke Anna’s heart, as she could not understand his reluctance. She told herself; never – no matter what – will I put my children in such difficult position.
Most people, however, will reach a point where they will review their own lives, and so was the case with Anna’s father. Just a few months prior to his death, as a very old man, ridden with innumerous health problems and grief, he asked for reconciliation. Anna was happy to forgive and forget, and this aching wound was healed at last.

No regrets
One afternoon as they were working in the garden, Katina asked her mother what she would have changed in life, if she could. She realized the many things her mother had given up, to be able to take care of the family. Being at the threshold of her own life, with ambitions, hopes and wants, she found it difficult to understand some of her mother’s choices, “Didn’t you feel that you missed out? A career of your own, travelling, studying, didn’t you want to do that?” she asked. “Sweet Katina” Anna replied. “It was different when I was your age; women didn’t have as many choices in those days, as they have now. But even so, I honestly don’t feel that I missed out on those things. I had the most challenging career you could ever have. Being a mother might not pay off in money, but seeing all of you grow up to become such fine young men and women, has a reward way beyond that. Besides, I travel every day, in the timeline of life itself, and when I was sitting by your bedpost at night, watching you sleep so peacefully, I studied the mystery of happiness. You, my darling, must do your own choices. And I will support you to my best ability no matter what you decide, but, as for me and my life, I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Brekkan was having so much fun enjoying her life, that she quite forgot years had been passing by. Here she is, just turned 50, while outside playing hide and seek with her grandchildren. Brekkan and Chandler only had one son, Thom, in all their years of marriage -- so they showered him with all the love in their hearts. During college, Thom fell in love with and married Myrtle Penopscot. Shortly after giving birth to quads, fertile Myrtle went to work and never returned. Brekkan and Chandler were more than happy to open up their home to Thom and his children -- after all -- what are families for?

If one can call grandchildren a hobby, then that would be Brekkan's. Since Thom and the children have come to live at the Platz farm, Brekkan has plenty of time to spend with Thomas Chandler, Dylan, Shanna and Kevi. Thom has taken over many of the farm chores, freeing time for Brekkan to spend in her favorite pursuit: sharing time with grandchildren!

One does not "retire" when one lives on a working farm. But, when one is fortunate to have loved ones with whom to share the workload, one can find enjoyable and meaningful ways to spend time.

Brekkan is the type of person that shares her time with generosity of spirit and charity. Here she is sewing baby quilts that her Ladie's Circle at church will be sending off to earthquake and hurricane victims. She considers this time well spent, believing that her glass is not half empty, it runs over with concern for her fellow Sim.

The gang's all here for a surprise "trip" around the block -- which would be around ten to fifteen miles it being a country block. Brekkan and Chandler may not be the richest farmers in the world, but they are a grand pair in the eyes of those that know them.

It will be awhile before the Reaper comes calling, Brekkan will most likely live to meet her future great-grandchildren. If not, her legacy of love will be passed forward. When her time comes, she will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all others who knew her.

When I was still working I would have told you I felt as though I looked 15 years older than I really was at any time. But I tell you this whole retirement does wonders for you. Not to mention the 50 anti-wrinkle creams I started using at 30 haha! I feek as young as I look.

Favourite Past Time
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/pasttimesmall.jpg (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s318/ASHORY/pasttime.jpg)
Because I worked so often I didn't get to spend as much time with my own children, (I ended up with 4 by the way Mia and April were my second set of twins) so these days I absolutely love hanging out with my 3 grand daughters and spending as much time with them as I can. The eldest is Anna, then Chloe and finally my fiery little red head Lara. They are all just so beautiful and so unique. I can't think of a better way to spend my time.

After Retirement

The last thing I did at work was sell my own home. Kenny and I had always dreamed of travelling so we did just that! We moved in with April and bought an RV and began to travel around the country. We found this beautiful beach spot and decided that we were going to renew our vows there. It was low key just like the day we got married and we are still very much in love. Kenny still loves me even in this purple polka dot swimsuit with my boobs hanging to the floor. I am one lucky lady.

A favourite part of our travels was taste testing the foods from different places. SOme were great and some not so much. I was hit with a round of food poisoning from one place. YUCK! The one thing we kept constant was toasting to our good fortune and the health of our beautiful growing family, this photo though not one of the most stunning is very dear to my heart reminding me of the good life we have. Kenny and I still have a lot of travelling ahead of us and Anna plans on joining us this next trip. We also look forward to a lot more grandchildren (that's a bit of a hint to our two sons who haven't given us any yet!)

Again click the pictures for a better quality pic!

I really enjoyed this contest it was only my second and I thank you for making it such an enjoyable contest. I appreciate that you kept in on time and kept us informed throughout the entire thing and should you post another contest I will definitley be interested in joining it..

Dear Contestants,

Hello again. Well here it is the day the Final round is closing. The Round 4 scores were supposed to have been posted for you all 2 days ago, but once again this contest is suffering from judges who make promises to judge in a timely manner and then do not keep them. This judging problem has been ongoing since moment one of this contest and it has been much of an effort on my end to try to keep things running as smoothly as I can for you all. This is an extremely tough thing to carry off, however, when those you are relying on to help consistantly (and almost seemingly purposely) drop the ball on you. And not just in one round, no. In every single round of this contest. As I have said before, there should be a public thread where those who volunteer to be contest judges are rated or something so when someone volunteers to judge a contest host can look through that list and see whom to accept as a judge and whom to pass by. Without such knowledge, problems like this arise. I dont know if any other contest hosts have had such problems with judges in their contests, but if they have then its no surprise to me why the contest threads, which used to be the most active area on this site, are now so quiet.

Let's just say I am sick to death of people making promises to judge, then not following through on that promise, leaving me and all you guys hanging, and of course, suffering no consequences for causing problems and delays THEY caused in the first place. The lack of respect for contest hosts and all the work they put into the contests so that other members may have a little fun is disgusting. I've gotten nothing for my effort outside of broken promises, missing judges and delay after delay. I am so sick of it, if we werent at the end of this contest, I would shut it down right now. But I will not do that to all of you contestants whove worked so hard, and been so patient and nice throughout this less than ideal process.

I will be working to find people who can be relied on to actually judge the final 2 rounds of this contest so we can get this thing done. Ive already PMed BP about this problem and asked for an extension of a day or two to finish. I am terribly sorry about all the problems and can only hope that people's disregard for me and my contest does not discourage you from doing other contests in the future. As for me, I am so sickened by all of this BS, that I wont be running any more contests as its not worth the headaches, the stress and the disappointment every time its judging time. I have to wonder if the constant judging problems was a concerted effort to drive me from the contest threads, and if it was, then congratulations, you succeeded.

As soon as I know what is going on, another update will be posted. And again, sorry for all of this.

I don't think any of us who are taking part in the contest is going to be annoyed with you for the delays, MissTech because it definitely isn't your fault. It's been awesome taking part, and that more than makes up for any extended waiting period.

21st Mar 2009, 3:15 PM
Sorry MissTech, please close the contest and don't wait up for me. I'm moving to another continent on Tuesday and just can't get into the game today. I've got other things I need to do, and people that I want to spend time with.

Thanks for the contest though, and I hope you do this again (and that I have time for it :P) because it's a great contest idea. :D And good luck to everyone!

21st Mar 2009, 5:09 PM
I'm sad to hear that you ran in to all these problems MissTech, and that you might not host contests again. That is a petty, and like TRIriana, I think you have been a really good host, and are not to blame for problems others might have caused. To be honest, I would have liked to see the judging before posting the last round, but that is not your fault. Anyway I couldn't wait any longer, so Que sera, sera!
Good luck with your moving LostSock, even if I really wanted to see Claras as an elder, but I hope she's doing well anyway :)
Good luck to everybody else as well, great entries - those are some really good looking and interesting "old" ladies!!

22nd Mar 2009, 3:05 PM
First everyone thank you so much for your words of support. They are very appreciated. I am so thankful that, despite the delays and problems, you all enjoyed the concept of the contest and participating in it. :) Anyway, what you've all been waiting very patiently for.... Round 4 Results!

Congrats to you both! What a cool prize too. Thank you to the judges, and to you Miss Tech, it was a great contest and i really enjoyed it.

24th Mar 2009, 4:26 PM
What?? I won? That is absolutely unbelievable! *jumping up and down in pure joy*! And for sure, the prize is awsome, thank you HP, what a honor!

Congratulation also to Ash and Emme Gilchrist (you so deserve to win), but in fact I share this price with all of you. I've learnt so much during this contest, and the judges comments and your contributions made me try harder, testing tools, trying again, throwing it all away, reading tutorials, trying again, and so on. It's insane to go from totally newbie, - I had just posted a couple of pics until I hooked up on this contest, and was last in rank in round 1 - and here I am at the very top. I still can't believe it!

Thanks Miss Tech for this competition, needless to say, it's been fantastic! *rushing off to drink champagne and thinking about a smart replacement for Suckling Bodoc*

24th Mar 2009, 6:36 PM
Good job Kyria and Ash!!! You both did great. As well as everyone else.

I feel like running about the house doing a happy dance for landing 4th place.

25th Mar 2009, 1:52 PM
Congratulations to Kyria and Ash! Much deserved to both of you, which is why I did not break the tie. :D

Again, thank you to all for sticking with this contest. Thanks to all of my outstanding contestants, to my Judges, to my Emergency Judges, to BP for all of her help, and last but not least, to HP for the wonderful winners' prize! :D

MIss Tech,

I had to leave this contest early since I was also moving to another continent - as I told you via PM from US to the Netherlands - but I really liked your contest. I liked the idea and the enthusiasm you did put in it. I am sad to read that you plan not to do another one anymore. I hope you will change your mind. As for now you already have an extansive personal list of judges who did let you down so you know about them.

I would agree that a kind of 'available judges list' would be good, as then it might become more populated in the contest area again.

For the winners of this contest, congrats I enjoyed reading your stories. And especially to Kyria, two great contest results for you in only one week, must be amazing!
