Title of Contest:
America's Next Fierce Model Cycle 2: Academy
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b249/lalena2248/Screenshot1copy.jpg

Description of contest: Before Lyra Monroe was the official ANTM Cycle 4 Runner Up, she too was just an awkward teen and young adult, trying unnesuccesfully to find who she was in the world. Thanks to ANTM, she discovered a passion of modeling, fashion magazine editing and clothing design. Since her amazing turns as contestant, professional model and numerous hosting jobs, she has come to reflect a lot on her own life growing up:

Lyra: "I grew up in quaint Salem, Massachusetts in a home with 2 loving parents and my older sister, Jasmine. When I was 10 my whole world crashed...both my parents died in a tragic accident. In one instant I had lost my entire world. My life. My sister Jasmine, who is 8 years older than me, took me into the home where she was raising a daughter, Linore, on her own."

"I was twenty years old when my niece pushed the application for ANTM in front of me. I was down, trying to get through school, figure out what I wanted to do and who I was...you know, the usual junk you go through at that age. :laughs: I was pretty angst ridden. But, because of my little, staryy-eyed niece, my life changed. In turn, I helped her through her worst times as a young teen. I finally realized that it's girls at that age, in their teens, that need the most attention. Now a young woman, Linore is confident and following her own dream of modeling. She's turned herself into a confident, beautiful, not only woman, but human being as well. There's so much more to the world than just yourself. I'd like to help young woman just like I helped Linore and she helped me!"

Lyra is opening up this academy to help train you body, mind and spirit not only for your future career but for life.

The world of modeling is a ruthless business for even the most strong of heart. Do you have the guts and the courage to follow your dream?

Rules:
-All pictures must be taken in game. Photoshop is allowed only if you can combine it with a scene set in game. For example, I don't want to see your sim just plopped on picture background. This is an example of what is acceptable: Example (to come shortly) . Photoshop is allowed for adding borders, words, etc. Poser will not be allowed! Anyone caught using Poser will be eliminated! You may also use Photoshop to pose your Sims. A link to a tutorial for posing will be added later.
-Follow the rules for each round.
-Dates are dates. Photos MUST be in by the specific date for each round. If not, you will be eliminated. Why? Because most people get their stuff done on time, and it's not fair to hold up the contest.
-Photos should be no larger than 600 x 450. JPEG is the preferred file type.
-You may apply 2 teen females; only one per person will be accepted.

:alarm: This contest will run from October 13 to November 13 :alarm:

When are applications due, lalena2248? I guess I have been organizing all my downloads just to be ready for such a contest --- had to have something to do while I waited for my more excitement in the Contest Thread.

Hi, I'm Kari Trunks.
I'm a 16-year-old senior from Jim Falls, Wisconsin. Just another one of them boonie towns dotting the landscape. I am absolutely "fierce" about getting out and into the world. I've worked hard at school (got into the excelerated program so I'll be graduating early), starred in the school plays so I have plenty of practice in the limelight, help out in my community with all the town events, and love my mom and dad.
I'm a really outgoing person who loves to get into the thick of things. I throw myself wholly into all I do. I'm even a diehard when it comes to studying for school classes -- how else am I going to excel and get that life I crave?
Why am I America's Next Fierce Model? I'm that new face you've all been looking for. No Barbie here. I can do what it takes to win. I've wanted to walk the runway for as long as I can remember. I've got looks, personality and drive.

In a white room with black curtains . . . . oops, I mean a black dress against a white wall.

****************************************************
lalena2248, those walls were white when I took the pic, should i paint them white in paint or just leave them as is? If I fix them that way, she'll end up with little square blotches outlining here and making her look like I plopped her onto a white background, though. I'm thinking I need to mess with my graphics card and see why the indoor pics aren't turning out well in my game anymore.

Is this contest only for Sims 3 or can we submit models from Sims 2?

Deatherella

I hope it's for both, cuz I'm using Sims 2. Trying to use Sims 3 would require kicking my kid off his pc and keeping him from doing his "homework".

Hi, I'm Jenny Alpin. I'm 17 and I'm from a little farming town called Walker Valley... oh, and don't worry, I'm not expecting you to have heard of it!

http://i33.tinypic.com/2419v61.jpg

I spend most of my free time helping my Dad on our farm; planting vegetables or fishing... but I also enjoy sewing and going to the market with my gran or my friends. If I had to sum myself up in three words, they'd be: Honest, Caring and Friendly.

http://i36.tinypic.com/2wc1cag.jpg

I'd like to think I could be "America’s Next Fierce Model" . I want to prove that you don't have to be a skinny city dweller with bleached blonde hair, shiny pink lipgloss and a miniskirt to be pretty... us country girls are coming, so get ready!

Deatherella

I love it, wgroome, we both made our girls hail from boonie towns. Jim Falls is a real town in Wisconsin. In the middle of nowhere. Little bigger than the usual criteria for a Wisconsin boonie town, though, of slap up a bar and a church and voila! town!

Hey guys! I'm extending the application deadline till Monday at 9am CST.

You can use Sims 3 or 2 if you would like. I'd recommend 2 as there are more posing hacks made so far, etc, but if you want to use 3, go ahead!

Great entries so far!

Hello judges! My name is Hisayo London. I am 17 years old and come to you all the way from Hikone, Japan. I love nature and activities I can do outside. Especially hiking. I actually have my own wood where I plant trees and wild plants. My community is very important to me. I believe in working hard to keep community whole spiritually and physically. I am also of mixed heritage.
What many in Japan consider an “Ai”. Basically, my mother is Black American and my father is Nihonjin. I have faced many difficulties because of this, but I choose to perservere through it all. I chose to live up to the name my parents have given me. Hisayo means “changed era”. It is a symbol of hope that I and others like me will be fully included into the culture we come from. I am a part of that change. I want other “Ai” to know that we are beautiful inside and out. This is why I am competing in America’s Next Fierce Model. I am determined and driven to become the winner. I am definately what the academy needs. A truly fierce represenative.

Lyra: Hello girls! It's so nice to finally meet all of you in person. Welcome to America's Fierce Model: Academy! As you read on the application, this competition is not only for you learn the basics of modeling, but is also to help you be yourself and become confident young adults!

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b249/lalena2248/contestroundscopy.jpg

Like most of us as teens, my walls were covered with posters of people I adored. Along with some of the more notably influential people during my teen years, I was totally in awe with Hollywood and the glamour of it's hey-day. Ironically, most of the people I had idolized, who appeared to have everything, seemed to be the most troubled. From Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn, each had suffered their own setbacks and personal tragedies. But, that is life. Some conquered them and thrived while others let their issues consume them.

I want you to portray some of my favorite old Hollywood Idols that I will assign to each of you. I will include a small back-story as to why I choose her, as well as links to more information to help you when you design you photo. I want the photo to illustrate the character in both looks and overall spirit.

Along with the photo, I would like a brief sentence or two regarding your thoughts on the individuals and how they relate to you? Also, who is your hero or idol?

Kari: You will be portraying Mae West, the bawdy vaudeville and film star from the early 1900s. Ms. West was far ahead of her time. Her life was full of controversy and were in the media more than once. Because of her dialogues laced with risque language and unheard of themes at the time, such as homosexuality, she was accused of being immoral and a menace to society and was once actually jailed for her crimes! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mae_West

Jenny: Rita Hayworth was a prolific dancer and movie star. Born into a family of dancers and actresses, Rita had a style, glamour and drive to become one of Hollywood's first bombshells. With the help of Max Factor, Rita developed into a style suited for royalty. But, she wasn't just the sex symbol for the 1940s. She was smart, crafty and a dynamic threat in the business. As both a dancer and an actress, the young Rita was a force to be reconned with. In her personal life, although gorgeous, Rita was just like most girls: shy and with a self-depricating inferiority complex. She never let her fame get to her head. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rita_Hayworth

Lara: I had always been fascinated by Audrey Hepburn. Not only was she a woman of extreme refinement, grace and character, but she wore her heart on her sleeve. After enduring near starvation during WWII which caused her to lose her dream of being a professional dancer, she rose to the top of her class in the film industry. She accomplished this all the while dealing with personal tragedy. The woman wore her heart on her sleeve and cared for people the world over. Audrey even joined UNICEF to help bring attention to the horrors of hunger, the horror she knew all too well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audrey_Hepburn

Hisayo: Dorothy Dandrige practically smashed the color barrier. She went from lounge singer to movie starlet after the Great Depression, a time where it normally wasn't allowed! Her carrier spanned from the 1930s until her untimely death in the 1960s. Although tragic, Dorothy worked hard to persevere in her dream of being a singer and leading lady. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Dandridge

Camaro: Natalie Wood was a star at a young age. She grew up on the screen, from the little girl who sat on Santa's lap to a beautiful dancing lady in West Side Story. Despite a stage mom determined to force her into stardom, Natalie followed her own path and lived her life on screen and off the way she wanted to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalie_Wood

Clara: Clara Bow was the "It Girl" during the silent film era. From her quirky style and mannerisms grew the basics of modern film and acting. Throughout her career, Clara faced many unflattering and mostly untrue rumors, which led to many horrible situations for her during her life. Still, she trudged on through tragedy and fame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clara_Bow

Ladies, I want these photos to be AMAZING!

DEADLINE IS 10/26 12AM! ROUND 2 WILL BE POSTED SOON AS WELL! HAVE FUN! :)

Dorothy Dandrige

Wow! I have been given the honor of representing Dorothy Dandrige. I admire her tenacity and drive to be the best actor, not just black actor or female actress, that history has ever seen. Even though tragedy haunted her life, she never gave in. The roles she played were stunning. They showed the world her capabilities and broke away from the stereotypes of the time, forcing the world to see blacks in a different light. I also find her to be very sure, of not only her acting ability, but her physical beauty as well. You can see her stare straight into the camera in her photos. Rarely was anything covering her face. Not even her hair. In many ways we are similar. The same hurdles Dandrige faced then, I face now. I will take up her torch and move forward with the gifts she left for me. And where she may have stumbled, I will succeed.

As for my own hero, as much as I admire Dorothy, my father and mother are my greatest heroes. I have watched them weather the good times and the bad times, but never lose that love and honor for each other. They never lose hope for a better day. For them each moment is a blessing and the small things are treasures. Together they have taught me, strengthened me and set me on my path ready to fly.

Thank you solid. The photoshoot was challenging because I actually had to find teen pieces that suited the era. Didn't realize how much more things the photographer had for adults. After searching my archives and other places, I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for here. DUH!!! Wooohooo for Teen conversions.

My name is Camaro Rouge. I’m 16 years old and I currently reside in Slidel, Louisiana.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/blitzendog/CamaroRougefullbody.jpg
I was born in Nagaski, Japan and I am half Japanese. I’ve grown up moving around basically my whole life, so I’ve learned to communicate with others extremely well, even with my shy and reserved personality. I enjoy being kind to others, I feel as though it has made me grow in a person, and I would much rather help a person than push them down.

I think this shoot should show you all just how fierce I am about winning this competition. I have never been impressed by Mae West, have literally nothing other than the same gender in common with her. When I think Mae West, I think blowsy old -- oops! But, as you can see, here I am posing in character of her and doing a fine job of it if I don't say so myself.

I'm not exactly sure who my main female role model is. Kind of a tie between Princess Di, Mother Theresa, Martha Stewart and Peg Bundy. Just joshing you on the Peg. All of these women have done things to better the lives of the people they know and the world around them. Yeah, I know Martha got herself in a bit of trouble, but is she not absoluteley excellant at what she does best -- homemaking?

Name: Clara Bell
Age: 18
Location: Philadelphia
Short Bio: I'm an only child and people tell me that I'm daddy's little princess. Admittedly I didn't really want for anything when I was growing up, but that didn't stop me from taking my first step into modelling when I was twelve. Being a gangly kid from the get go, it really helped my self-esteem...to make me into the person that I am today! I'm not currently seeing anyone, and I live with my flatmate while going to University.
How would you describe your personality?: Bubbly! I was a timid child, but that's all been partied out of me. I like to think that I'm very approachable and out-going too.
Why do you think you’re America’s Next Fierce Model?: To be brutally honest, I think those models need a little more partying and pizza in their lives! ...So, in all seriousness I love mugging the camera, and I think something like this would suit me down to the ground. It'll be the biggest thing I've attempted to date.

I'll allow Clara Bell in as long as the Round photos are of her as a teen!! Also, I have updated the round 1 information to include Clara's person to portray.

Lyra: "When I was a little girl, I had so many dreams. I wanted to be a dancer, a princess, an artist, an animal doctor, a model...there were so many dreams I wanted to be. My parent's were a big part of them. They wanted me to be whatever they wanted. When they passed away, much of my drive went along with it. I was a teen and had already resigned myself to a life of school with no purpose. But, all that changed when I was in my first year of college for studio art and saw my young niece going through the same thing I had just come out of."

Linore: "Yep. I didn't know what was going on with my life. Who does that age, right? Aunt Lyra pulled out a photo album from when I was younger and I was dancing and posing for the camera. I never thought that I was modelling from the age of 2 on! She helped me in that direction."

Lyra: "I just showed you your own reflection in time, Linore. You had it in you all along. So now, I offer you ladies the same challenge: your next photoshoot for round 2."

This photoshoot will be done with a split screen. On one side, could be right or left, you presently in your room looking towards the center. The other side will represent your reflection. By reflection I mean you as anything you want, wanted or dreamed of being as a teenager or kid. That could be anything. Princess, doctor, alien...who did you want to grow up to be as a young kid.

Keep this super creative. The only stipulation is that each of your personas look towards eachother, the center of the photo representing the mirror. Other than that, you are also the creative directors of this project.

Also, tell us a little about your photo and your dream. Why did you choose your reflected persona?

Good luck!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/Sam_Monoceros/Sim%20Competition/ClaraBowBW.jpg

For this particular photo shoot, the person who I was to portray was Clara Bow. In preparation I read up a little one her background, the type of things that she used to do in showbusiness, and how I might be able to relate to her... I wasn't thinking I'd be able to all that much, I admit. The first thing in my head when I heard was: how can I get into the head of some Flapper gal from the twenties? The only similarity seemed to be our name.

Fortunately it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. She was born in 1905 and was the Big Thing during the silent film era. Her biography said that she had high spirits and was pretty darned artistic, and I like to think that I have those traits too. She was real classy, and I believe my shot did a lot at reflecting her photographs too. I gotta say that our home lives were really different - I never knew my mom, and hers tried to kill her! I think it's understandable that I'm real glad I'm not like her in THAT respect!

She performed in movies that were different for a lady, and that were going to wow the audience. I really want that for myself, too. If I had to chose my idol? I'd have to be a cheesy chick and say my dad. He had to be great to bring ME up!

Awesome, thanks for the extention. It's hard for me to portray Natalie haha.

Do you care if we edit the pictures with photoshop? Like changing the lighting, messing around with color curves, etc?

You're welcome! :D

Photoshop is fine as long as the original image is from the game. You can even green screen you sim and put them into another photo of a scene taken in game. But, only Sims images, no just placing your sim on a photo. :)

Lalaena, I have a question about the reflection. Can I make my teen an adult in her "I want to be" side? I cannot find an appropriate dress outfit in teen size for my bright idea. It would technically reflect what she wanted to be all grown up that way, but don't know if I can make her be an adult sized Sim on one side of the pic or not.

that's fine. if it's something she wants to be when she grows up, that's how she'd see herself, right?

also, fyi, i believe there is a hack to make adult outfits fit a teen. i could be wrong though.

Thanks. Did a search for such a hack and all I can find on it are teen pregnancy clothes ones. Got any ideas on where to look?

Hmmm...perhaps I was wrong. I'll do some more sleuthing, but now that I think about it, their meshes won't align. Where the head and neck meet would be shorter, etc. So, maybe there is no such thing.

I'll keep looking though.

Also, judges, I'm allowing the contestants who entered to turn in round 1 through the round 2 deadline.

My idol to portray was Natalie Wood. She was an actress from 1943 and her final recordings were done in 1987. Her musical she was most known for was West Side Story. Natalie lived a successful life, which is one thing I hope to have in common with her. She also struggled with drinking, as her death was falling out of a boat while being intoxicated. I sure hope that doesn't happen to me.

My true idol is Twiggy. Twiggy changed the fashion industry for forever, and I must admit, she did an excellent job. One thing I adore about her was her courage. She led skinny models to the top of the modeling industry, even though everyone claimed her size was "unhealthy". She was one of the first teenage prominent models, I would be so honored to meet her.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to grow up to be Cinderella. Then Prince Charming would come along on his white horse and take me off to live happily after. Now, that I'm older and wiser, I know there are no knights in white armor waiting in the wings and it's up to me to find my own happiness. I sure would be happy if I were the Next Most Fierce Model.

I was just checking in to see about scores and am glad to hear Round 1 will finally be posted. Lalaena, instead of extending rounds longer and longer, could you post the next one so we (that are getting things done on time) can get to work on it. Maybe we could get all four rounds done if you just posted them and left it up to us to meet the deadlines. I'm just sad for you to see your contest floundering. You've given us ample time for each round and I'm one of the slowest persons on the planet and I'm getting done on time so I was hoping for a way for us to do all four rounds. I have no idea who will be leading in the scores, but if that person has never won a contest before, 4 rounds will get her/him that coveted "star" showing her/his great accomplishment.

I agree with Deatherella. It isn't fair to the other contestants who actually want to do the contest. You've already stated that scores are based on a point system so if contestants aren't submitting their entries in time then that should count them as a 0.

Ok. I'll post round 3 and 4 tonight and the due date will be November 12th for both rounds.

And yes, I was already going to give zeros for points for rounds that were not finished. :)

Look for the remaining rounds later tonight!

I'm also sad that this contest isn't as popular. I have ran 2-3 successful contests in the past. It seems that there is more of a lack of interest in these kind of contests. I used to have to wait weeks to get a contest up and running. Now it was pretty quick. Even if this one doesn't do well, I have other ones to try later on. So, don't worry, I'll be around! ;)

Points for round 1 will also be revealed tonight

Round 3: Color My World

Lyra: "Through the years, my love of playing with color, especially with my hair, has been affected by my moods. This was most apparent in high school! I have had EVERY hair color in the book."

Linore (laughing): "I think green was the worst. It looked liked someone blew their nose on your head!"

Lyra: "Thanks, kid. Anyway, as you probably have figured out, color can illustrate or influence a mood. When you are in high school, and most especially with what you are going through right now, you may find yourself being drawn to certain ones. Color can explain a lot about you right now. This will also explain our next photoshoot!"

You will each be assigned a color to express. Everything in the photo: makeup, hair, jewelry, clothes, scene NEEDS to be in that color.

Kari: You will be Yellow.
Jenny: You will be Orange.
Zara: You will be Purple.
Camaro: You will be Red.
Clara: You will be Blue.

You can use this site for examples of what these colors mean: http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html

Remember to still keep this modelesque but illustrate the feel of each color. This is a full body shot.

Round 4: Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Lyra: "The most important lesson I have learned growing up is that before people can see you as beautiful, you have to see yourself as beautiful. For this photoshoot, I want you to do 2 beauty shots (from the shoulders up). One with no makeup and your hair how it is when you wake up in the morning. Then, one beauty shot with yourself done up to feel the most confident."

You have creative license for this shoot besides the fact that it is to be from the shoulders on up. Bare shoulders, no jewelry.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing the shoots. Scores from Round 1 posted by 3pm CST!! I lost my own results and had to start judging over. Sorry!

Judging Criteria:
Point system (1 - 5):
1. How well did they portray their assigned idol?
2. Does the outfit/pose fit in with their assigned idol?
3. Overall composition (layout) of the piece. Is it pleasing to the eye? Are their things it lacks? Take these things into consideration.
4. Use of effects, ie: lighting, props, etc. to illustrate theme.
5. How would you rate it as a photograph? Are they still modeling as they portray the idol?

Kari:
1) The Portrayal: 9/15
"I think that the portrayal as an overall feel but it seems…lacking? Mae was sexy, yes; sassy, most definitely…but she had to keep some sort of decorum. Her sexuality was seemingly well-placed throughout yet hidden from direct view. And, although she was definitely around during prohibition, it was something that stars tried to keep hidden, as to not be raided."

"Your portrayal of Mae West doesn't seem well thought out. From what I've learned in this short period about her, she was sexy, elegant and classy. It seems that you may have gotten the wrong impression of her."

"Kari is a beautiful model yet seems bored and confused in her pose. There is one other complaint, Why is she wearing a lolita style outfift? This doesn't really fit the time period. The set, however, does show her risque style. Also, where did the pose come from?"

2)Outfit/Pose: 8/15
"Although I find the pose from the waist up fine, I have issue with the waist down. Getting on top of the bar is fine, but that is not a pose that Mae would have done during her time. The outfit does not fit what was worn during her time period or her movies necessarily. I think a b/w shot and maybe a prop, like a hat or boa, could have shot this photo up a notch."

"This goes back to the first part. I think a cross legged pose and a more glamorous outfit would have done wonders. I also think to give it that classic touch, you should have converted the image to Black & White. Your Kari is really pretty and I think she could have done a great job with this idol. "

3) The Theme: 10/15
"You have a theme going here, but I find it more old west than speakeasy or club of the 1920s/30s, although that may be because you based it off of some of her films."

" I see that you have a theme going but I'm not sure that it's relevant to Mae West. Maybe more of a club setting would have done the trick."

4) The Effects: 7/15
"I think the addition of some more lighting could have done wonders to this piece."

"I don't see any effects in this picture. I think a soft light would have worked well for the era and idol you were portraying."

5) Overall: 9/15
"I can see you had a plan on what you tried to portray for the idol. In terms of some of her films, it’s relevant, but overall for portraying Mae herself, it’s lacking some classy pizzazz. A little bit more the refinement mixed with her already sassy pose would have done wonders."

"Overall, I think your photograph showed that you didn't think much of her but you had a job to do and I don't think that you accomplished it. Maybe next time, you can google some images to get a better idea of how your image should look. HERE is a link to Mae West Photos so that you can see why I judged the way I did."

______________________________________________________________

Hisayo:
1) The Portrayal: 15/15
"This was gorgeous. So glamorous, so elegant…sigh. Great job! "

"Your portrayal of Dorothy Dandridge was soo soft and beautiful! I think you captured her very well, especially being a teenager. Great job!"

"I can not find anything I don't like about this picture. The layout, pose, and outfit all look beautiful!"

2)Outfit/Pose: 15/15
"You posed head to toe, young lady. The dress and angle from which the photo was taken was very well thought out."

"I love that you put her in a red dress! As a teen it's hard to portray the sex appeal that exudes from an adult and I think you've quietly captured that with the dress, and the pose without showing too much. Very beautiful entry."

3) The Theme: 14/15
"The dress, accessories, heck even the furniture fit into her time period. I can’t think of anything else you could have done to illustrate her time period."

"There aren't many props in the scene but that seems just perfect to me."

4) The Effects: 14/15
"So soft! It represents not only Dorothy, but the way most portraits were taken back then; hazy and dreamlike."

"The effects are perfect! I love how you softened the photo to give it a more glamorous effect."

5) Overall: 14.5/15
"Overall, this is one great photo! Excellent work!"

"Overall, I think you did a beautiful job portraying her. The only thing I could really say is to play around with props a bit more. "
_______________________________________________________________

Clara:
1) The Portrayal: 15/15
"You ARE Clara Bow! Excellent job! For a minute, I did a double take!"

"You are dead on point! You have captured her to the T! Beautiful job!"

"I have a few questions. How are you floating? I would take it you moved but there's one problem. How did you get that pose? No posers are allowed and I can't come up where this pose is used anywhere naturaly in the game. The picture would be beautifull if it wasn't for the lack of posers and if the floating was explained."

2)Outfit/Pose: 12/15
"Everything fits here. The outfit and accessories says flapper, the hair says It Girl, the pose says sass. Love it!"

"So perfect!"

3) The Theme: 14/15
"This screams the roaring 20s! Great use of visuals for the theme."

" I see the classic element in your background. Beautiful and well thought out."

4) The Effects: 15/15
"I’m SO glad you made this black and white! That little change made this photo!"

"I love the softness and the black and white effect. I think those small details made your photograph as perfect as it is."

5) Overall: 15/15
"This photo Charleston’s into my heart!"

"Beautiful entry and you've done a beautiful job of capturing her even though you(Clara) have nothing in common with her. That is truly a talent to have.
_________________________________________________________________
Camaro:
1) The Portrayal: 9/15
"I appreciate the soft elegance you put into your look of Natalie. However, I wonder if Miss Woods would have worn a dress that short. Somehow, though, it works in a more older, sassy way. Maybe post Gypsy? However, I think her face is so pretty that you could have done a better job at the portrayal by coming closer to the camera."

"Natalie Woods had a really beautiful face and most photographs that I've found of her are head shots. I think you should have done a head shot to better portray her."

"Everything was creme tone in that picture except for the chair which was bright red and I doubt Natalie Wood would let herself be lost in a picture of herself. Though, it was smart to place a strong light above you the get attention to you face.zooming in a bit and a different chair or outfit color would have greatly improved this picture."

2)Outfit/Pose: 9/15
"Outfit is a little short for me, but I like the color. The pose is very cute."

"I think the pose is ok but the outfit and hair look too modern."

3) The Theme: 8/15
"I see a general 1960s-esque theme going on here. It’s good. However, I think the color scheme somehow engulfs you. You need to stand out, not the chair."

" There isn't a particular theme in this photo. I think this would have been ok had more thought gone into the hair and pose."

4) The Effects: 11/15
"I adore the lighting effect. I just which it was more of a closeup with that same effect."

"I must say that I love the lighting effect in this photograph. I love that she's the focus so naturally your eyes are drawn to her. Great job on this aspect."

5) Overall: 10/15
"Overall, I think you did a decent job of portraying Natalie. Personally, I think it would have been better close up, with maybe your hair pulled back. You and Natalie both have such pretty faces, it would be a shame not to showcase them even more!"

"I think you did a really good job and it's obvious you tried to capture her."

Final Score Count for Round 1:
Kari: 43/75
Hisayo: 72.5/75
Camaro: 46.5/75
Clara: 71/75

In case I lost points for the apparent use of Poser (which in the rules states is a disqualifiable offence), I'd like to point out that I did not use this program. I used Decorgal's Posing Box (downloadable from this site) and a download on MtS that allows the placement of Sims and objects at any angle or height. She also was not floating. She is lying on top of a piano - which is where the second download came in.

I know. This was a statement from another judge. If I thought you used Poser, I would have questioned it. As an avid contest, I could see what you used. I can assure you, you didn't lose any points from my calculations. However, I will ask the judge if they would have submitted differently they were a hundred percent sure about poser. So bright, so cheery, I just want to clap with joy.

I think yellow is a color that just perks a person right up. Yellow makes you feel all sunny and bright and cheerful. I had fun with this shoot portraying yellow -- and, nope, it was not hard to show the meaning of this color. With all the bright yellow flowers, a beautiful yellow satin gown and a few other things, I think my shoot just glows with sunshine showing how much yellow just makes you all feel so happy inside and out.
Green is my favorite color. I go outside and all that green is so wonderful as it shows off the world in all its living and growing splendor around me. And, when you bring it inside, it's like bringing the beauty of the earth inside with you.

After a couple hours of fake yawning to look like I just woke up, the photographer decided it would be a better idea to just catch me "waking up" in my own bed. So off we went to my home where I laid down and then "woke up". That was ever so much more comfortable and real feeling. It wasn't hard to go without makeup since I usually just dab on some lip gloss for everyday -- but oh! that hair!

It's hard to say what look I'm most comfortable in. I like to look and dress my best for any given occasion. I do like trendy clothing, though. Most often, you'll find me wearing a dress since I am girly enough to want to feel feminine. In this final shoot, I looked in the mirror at myself and I just couldn't believe how beautiful I looked. It made me feel like I was about to cross over the threshhold into womanhood and become the person I want to be.

Lalena, are we supposed to write anything for our rounds 3 and 4? I have my pics pretty much ready to upload and am wondering if you just needed the photos or the photos with writing.

Sorry about that! Yes two brief things.

For Round 3:

1. What did you think about the color you were assigned? Did you find it easy for you to illustrate it's meaning?

2. What's your favorite color and why?

For Round 4:
1. How do you feel about revealing yourself to the world free of makeup?
2. How would describe the look you feel most comforable in?

My "dream" probably seems more than a little confusing, right? A couple of years ago I thought that I knew it ALL. I know I must have driven my dad up the wall and back down again. But, at some point in my earlier teen years I thought that my aspiring dream was to be a "tough punk kid". Lame and stupid, huh? I thought that if I could rough it and act tough, then I'd be considered "all that"... whatever that actually means.

I'm so glad my life didn't turn out THAT way! For one thing, I don't think purple is really my colour.

In the morning my hair, at least to me, always looks so damn fluffy! Still, I think I sport the fresh-faced look pretty well, don'cha think? I feel the most comfortable when I'm in my bedroom, just mucking around doing fun stuff in my pajamas. It makes me feel like a little kid again!

On the flip side, I also love being able to "beauty" myself up. I prefer the "less is more" aspect of make-up - I never really liked the "panda eyes" look all that much. Personally, I think this looks much classier.

ROUND 2:

Scores were based on a 1 - 5 scoring for each question.

ROUND 2
KARI
1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 7/10
"I think the Cinderella story was really common but that's what I loved about it! I do think the picture could have been executed better."

2.Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 6/10
"Because you chose to reflect a fairytale image, I think the photo should have been full of color and a lot more bright on the Cinderella side. I also think there should have been 2 different scenes to reflect the full effect of the Cinderella Fairytale vs. her life now."

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 9/10
"I kind of like that her adult reflection has her arms open welcoming her. It's almost as if she's being welcomed to beccome who she wants to be. I love that! I think an up-do for Kari as Cinderella would have been better though but, I'm not docking any points. Just a suggestion. :) "

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 7/10
"As I stated before, I think there should have been 2 scenes. The one in her room and the world she wanted to live in when she grew up. I also think her room looks a bit old fashioned for a teenager."

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 7/10
"Just looking at the photo, I do not get that it's supposed to be a reflection. It seems to me that they are in the same room just standing in front of a mirror about to hug. I think you could have probably let the mirror in the middle out as well. Overall, I loved the idea. :) "

"I think you could have made one side of the room more of the feel of a little girl's room. The poses are cute but not that dynamic. I would have liked to seen the use of more effects and a brighter, cheerier feel on Cinderella's side. I will say though, I do like the idea and the overall feel of the piece."

Clara:

1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 10/10
"I love that you went with a dream that is really common among teens but most don't really think about. This was definitely an original and creative concept. Also, great job on the text. "

2. . Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 9/10
"I love the contrast in style not only in her appearance but the background as well. You really get that Clara's reflection is a tough kid from a tough neighborhood. "

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 10/10
"I love that it appears that she's talking to her future self. There is a lot that can be interpreted from that pose. I would guess that Clara's reflection is trying to influence her to still become her. Clara is explaining that she cannot go that route because she now has other dreams."

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 10/10
"The overlapping of the photos suggest to me that the current Clara is pushing that dream she once had away. Great Work!"

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 10/10
"I love the overall look and theme of the photo. I do wish that we could see Clara more clearly."

"Love it! I love the half and half look to it. This worked out perfectly. Everything, from clothing to props to color, illustrated the young girl to tough punk feel to the image. Great job!"

ROUND 3
KARI
1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 9/10
"You definitely put a lot into this photo! The set is amazing and Kari looks really pretty too."

2.Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 9/10
"NOw, you definitely portrayed this color well but, I must say that there seems to be an unpleasant yellow ting that is making the yellow appear overbearing. It's still a great job but I think you could have probably done variations of the color yellow to avoid that glaring effect."

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 10/10
"If you had not titled this picture I would have known that it was supposed to be bright, cheery and joyful. Her pose and facial expression say everything about the picture. I do wish you would have chosen a more relaxed style for her hair though. I think this would have made her look more carefree which to me seems to go with cheery."

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 9/10
"If it had not been for the yellowish tint, I would have given you a perfect score. Other than that your set is great!"

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 10/10
"I definitely get the vibe you were going for with this photo. The execution was almost perfect! Great job and I'm so glad for your major improvements. :-) )

"Great photo and good job on showing the meaning of the color. You look as happy and cheerful as the sun! Great use of color and lighting. The props are also very positive. Your expression is fantastic. "

Clara:

1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 10/10
"This is definitely a creative entry! That is definitely not what I would have expected to see for the color blue but your explanation definitely gave me a new way to think of this color."

2. Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 10/10
"Great use of the color you were given! I love the blue hair, background... everything!"

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 10/10
"The pose and hairstyle were so perfect for this shoot! It looks fun and exciting... like she has no restrictions."

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 10/10
"I love the way the light is shining down on her. There aren't many props but that's expected for what you've done with this. Great job!"

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 10/10
"Overall, I feel the excitement and I can definitely see it! You have given a new thought to be associated with the color blue."

"Wow…excellent shot! Great use of space and color! It's a very dynamic piece. Love it! You truly want to win!"

ROUND 4:

Scores were based on a 1 - 5 scoring for each question.

ROUND 4
KARI
1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 10/10
"What an original idea to have her actually "wake up!" I love both photos and this is the round where Kari's beauty really stands out. You've done a great job capturing her angles and getting your point across in both pictures. Beautiful!"

2.Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 10/10
"The light background in the first picture definitely scream morning to me. The natural look of the background in the second picture is perfect! It makes it seem that the makeup she's wearing is merely accentuating her existing beauty. This is what makeup is supposed to really do and I think you've captured that very well."

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 10/10
"The pose in the first picture is funny but also so gorgeous! She really looks like she just woke up but, she looks so happy and naturally beautiful. The second photo is nice, clean and simple. It's so chic... just like it's supposed to be. "

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 10/10
"Because these were both headshots you didn't have to worry about props but you still managed to give a background that bought Kari to the front of the picture. Somehow, you managed to bring her beauty more to the spotlight."

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 10/10
"For both images I think you really made it a point to highlight Kari's natural beauty. It's so amazing to get someone's natural beauty to really shine when they're wearing makeup and you've definitely accomplished that. Very well done this round!"

"Good job showing the difference between the shoots. Excellent use of lighting techniques. However, I do think the pose in the first shot (morning) is better than the second. The second exudes confidence but it's not…exciting? I'm not sure how to put it. Overall though, a good photo set!"

Clara:

1. Did the contestant use creativity to the fullest extent? 6/10
"I think Clara looks beautiful in the second shot but the first shot she doesn't look the same. Also, there doesn't seem to have been much thought or effort put into the pictures. I loved your text but I don't think the pictures lived up to it."

2. Use of color. Were good choices made and used with a keen eye for the design of the photo? 8/10
"I think a gray background would have worked better for the second picture or maybe even a modern pattern. The first picture should have been on a more fun, colorful background to show a bit of her personality."

3. How was the pose and hairstyles in the photo? Were they relevant to the intent of the photo? 9/10
"I think the hair and makeup in the second picture are perfect for her. I thought Clara had black hair so, for her to have naturally brown hair and then go straight to Jet Black again doesn't seem right to me. Also, the hair in the first picture doesn't suit her at all. "

4. Were props, lighting, and special effects used well? 7/10
"There weren't many props expected to be used but I think you could have done a bit more with the first picture."

5. Overall feeling generated by the photo. 8/10
"Clara is no doubt very beautiful but I don't think the first picture does her any justice at all."

"These photos are really good. The lighting is great and the posing is nice, and that's a hard sell when they are taken from the chest up. Nice choices on hair and makeup to show the night and day differences. Good job!"

Round 4 Totals:
