Another long winter…it seems winter lasts longer here than any other season. One thing winter does bring is penguins. Big ones, that waddle along the roadside in search of the company of a snowman, which we happen to have right now on our front lawn.
I watched from the window last night as the penguin was having a good old chat to the snowman. It’s almost as if he’s flirting.
Apparently he’d like to go to school.
The snowman doesn’t respond.
Then it seems the penguin wants to talk about sumo wrestlers. The snowman is still not interested. The penguin is getting frustrated.
The penguin gives up on the snowman and waddles off. I don’t know what the penguin expected the snowman to say? Perhaps next time he’ll try the garden gnome.

The kids bring a different friend home everyday, more so Keira. Little miss popular…although today was a little different.
I sat with the girls for a while and watched them playing SSX. Keira becomes fiercely competitive when it comes to video games.
I don’t really know what happened after that but Keira seemed to be getting increasingly agitated with her friend, walking away from her and purposely yawning whenever the girl tried to make conversation.
Next thing, I’m standing in the kitchen and Keira grabs the girl around the neck and gives her a noogie! I’ve never ever seen her behaving that way. I had no idea what got into her? ‘Look at me’ I say, juggling bottles, trying to deter her.
I don’t know what I was thinking either juggling bottles from the fridge as a deterrent. But I don’t know how to deal with this sort of thing, and it’s not something I expected from Keira, but I did figure out the reason.
Yep, her friend had beat her at a video game.
