~ Ding Dong ~
Dammit, as soon as I sit down. It can
not be the neighbours because we don’t have any!
There’s some shady looking character at the door. Probably here to sell something.
‘
Hello, can I help you?’
‘Hello there, My name is Morty, and these lovely ladies are Catherine and Patricia’
‘Well if you’ve come here to sell something, we’re not interested’
‘
I think you’ve misunderstood. We are your neighbours’
You’ve got to be joking. The nearest house is 3 blocks away.
What do I have to do to get some peace and quiet around here?
The ladies nodded in my direction while Morty turned and struck up a conversation with Patrica.
The older lady, Catherine I believe, headed straight inside and proceeded to watch a movie.
Patricia followed not long after.
Gee, make yourselves at home.
I’ll put lunch on then, shall I?
………….
Hang on, where does she think she’s going?
‘
Er Catherine?’
‘
What do you think you’re doing?? If you don’t mind!’
Oh sure, put her on the floor why don’t you. I don’t have a problem with that. Never mind the cot that’s right there, that she was asleep in!!
Catherine took the hint and left the room as I scooped Rhianon off the floor.
I didn’t see that she had walked back in as I was putting Rhianon back into her cot. I turned around in time to see her lifting Ryder out of his cot!
I could not believe what I was seeing!
I thanked her for so inconsiderately waking my babies and politely asked her to leave. I had to stare at the wall and count to 10 as she stuck Ryder on the floor also.
Once I had the babies settled again I rejoined the others for lunch. Morty had eyes only for Patricia, flirting outrageously, complimenting her, telling lame jokes.
Get me a bucket.
If you ask me, there’s a time and a place, and it’s not the neighbours place you barely know and invited yourselves to.
Patricia was ok. She made an effort to chat when she wasn’t being harassed by Morty, and when Evan and I weren’t busy with the twins.
Morty came into the nursery as I was changing Ryder, held his nose and waved his free hand madly in the air telling me how bad it smelled.
No shit, sherlock.
What, does he expect they shit roses and sunshine? I can only wish. Stupid man.
Morty went home after that, leaving Patricia standing in the hallway.
While Patrica stared into space I went to tidy up a bit, throw away the used bottles that sort of stuff. When I came back Patrica was bathing my daughter!
That kind of thing might be ok if we were friends, but someone I just met!
She too, left Rhianon on the floor and left-without her coat.
The doorbell rang again. I couldn’t believe it. Evan went outside to be greeted by a Mr. Humble.
Looks like some bloke is going around dropping brand new computers at people’s houses.
I know Brandon received one, and so have mum and dad.
This leaves me wondering what the catch is.
